1mm elastic cord - this and only this. Don't be fooled by stretch magic or any other false prophets. It's super sturdy and won't break, while also being stretchy enough for anything you need to make/still be able to trade. The 100 meter spools will last you a long time too! Also if you ever want to make perler necklaces, fishing wire works great (the elastic cord is too bouncy as a necklace).

You can get regular Kandi beads at any craft store (make sure to check their website for coupons!)

I like to use elastic cord instead of string because I find it’s sturdier. I love this rainbow stuff and it looks great with clear beads.

Yarns with tencel and/or bamboo in them can be pretty shiny (http://www.knitpicks.com/yarns/Galileo_Yarn__D5420229.html), or you might be able to use something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01691YHFC

That kind of cord is used commonly in chinese knotwork decorations like this:
http://www.chinatouristmaps.com/assets/images/top10/chinese-knotting_260.jpg?w=240

So you might be able to incorporate some of those into the finished piece, you can buy finished ones or make your own if you're feeling ambitious :)

Hi! The beads you want are called pony beads, best to buy a variety of colors, and I really prefer sorted boxes like this: https://www.amazon.com/Beadery-Bead-Extravaganza-19-75-Ounce-Pearl/dp/B007QNFP40/ref=sr_1_7?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1496023909&sr=1-7&keywords=pony+beads

They are good to use for most of the bracelet, some people also like to put on fancy glass or wood beads, or metal charms, or plastic small toys, the possibilities are endless.

For string, you want something stretchy, and my personal favorite is this fabric covered elastic: https://www.amazon.com/White-Medium-Elastic-Cord-Yard/dp/B000GPTDB6/ref=sr_1_4?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1496023994&sr=1-4&keywords=elastic+string but some people also use clear plastic stretchy string.

Other things you might want are letter beads for writing words: https://www.amazon.com/Trasfit-Acrylic-Alphabet-Bracelets-Necklaces/dp/B01IQNJF1W/ref=sr_1_13?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1496024078&sr=1-13&keywords=letter+beads

You can find all of these locally at any craft store (joann, michael's, hobby lobby, even the craft section of walmart, or whatever your local equivalents are).

For the kandi masks, I've never made one, but I have had good luck searching for tutorials for cuffs and other things on youtube. I'm sure they will have a good one for masks too. Good luck! :) It's very rewarding to be able to give kandi and trade to make memories.

I got some of this 0.8mm string stretch string from Amazon. Like I said, I'm new at this so we'll see how well that holds up haha

I use a combo of the very pointy fiskars and a thread burner. But I also make regular use of my little matching fiskars scissors sharpener.

Make a Midori style cover.

Get this. Then fold it over your Field Notes booklet. Then trim to size. Then punch holes just above and below the spine of the book. Then string this through there.

$15 total and you'll have leftover materials.

My boyfriend's cat is in the process too. Other than diet food, we put together a little fishing pole to "cat-fish" with her.

A small retractable fishing pole with elastic string. Tie a catnip mouse & a bell at the end and voila! Cat-fishing.

I did a similar thing about a week ago with what looks like the same clips. I was stepping on the link box too often (worried I would damage the ports). Also kneeling on the cable and then standing up would pull the back of my head. The original 3in1 cable had already died and was replaced by HTC.

My solution was to hang the link box a foot off the ground using a eye hook (screwed in the 8 foot ceiling), a clip for easy removal tied to a 7 foot bungie cord with the other end tied around the link box. This stops me from stepping on it and it can pendulum/stretch out when pulled on but swing back and hang out of bounds when not. I then use the badge clips one end clipped on my belt in the center of my back and other end attached to the cable with 2-3 feet of slack (the badge clip extends 36 inches). It both takes the cable weight off my head but also has 36 inches of extension/retraction so all the cable can be used. When put away the only thing visible is the 1/2 inch eye hook in the ceiling. I'd post a pic but not at home.

You can't turn around as much, but the trade off of not damaging the cables/link box is worth it.

Tip: 4oz retraction is barely enough to lift the cable (new 3in1). 8 oz is overkill to lift the cable. If you only want to retract across the ground like Asteios did I think 4 oz would be plenty. 4 or 6 oz if you plan to lift the cable to your belt.

Yes, take a friend with you to Michaels and use the 50% coupon. You can walk in and out and use it multiple times. I don’t recommend buying the “magic string” from there tho. I recommend the elastic one from amazon. It’s stretchy but doesnt snap or fall apart.

Thank you for the reply, if you don't mind I have some questions on your comment:

  1. >Get some beeswax for your thread.
So this is just to pull the string though so it doesn't get tangled?

  2. So in general, silk thread is the way to go? Any place where i can buy silk thread by the colour? Best I could find on Amazon was this one that has black and white. Is polyester fine too? Maybe like these?

  3. what's stay stitch? Where do i find a bottle of it?

    Thank you for the help
u/killergummibear · 2 pointsr/electricdaisycarnival

I got the "The Beadery Craft Products Assorted Pony Beads 2300 ct Box" from Walmart. It's a good starter box because it has 6 of the primary colors (purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, and pink) and 3 different finishes (translucent, matte, and pearl sheen). Over time I start to notice which colors and finishes I prefer to use then I just purchase those specific ones from BeadTin.com. You should check out their website because their organization makes a lot of sense.

Amazon is the best place for strings that I've found. I only use crystal elastic string and the thicker the better imo. Tying the knot 3-4 times usually does the job. I also like to tuck the knot underneath one of the beads so that it doesn't get exposed.

Use elastic cord, not string! Tenn Well Elastic Cord Thread,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B2CM7RL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I wanted to point out that there is legit glow in the dark rope out there. Amazon link.

But from the other comment, it does sound like your looking for the stuff that glows under a black/uv light instead. That's probably the effect your looking for.

I use elastic cord for the base

[Bingcute 1.0MM White Beading Elastic Cord, 100 Yard (White) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LX50N4Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_PX2XCb58B53JZ]

& fishing wire for the ‘3D part’ around the base (if that makes sense)

u/escapethechaos · 1 pointr/EDCOrlando

Just use standard elastic and any kind of beads you want!

I'm using this thread currently. Works pretty well and I think the thickness looks pretty nice.

u/jatgoodwin · 1 pointr/kandi

I've purchased this a couple times https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GPTDB6/ and it's very durable, I've never had the cord break for anything, including some kandi handcuffs me and my bf wear to raves together.

u/Nekomii · 1 pointr/kandi

You can get 100yd of this for about $14 (though I haven't ever bought it before, I plan on it soon. It's sold by the company that kandipatterns.com suggests.)

As far as beads go I'm not really sure myself, but Amazon definitely doesn't seem like a bad place to get everything.

u/OldRuskiNoir · 1 pointr/electricdaisycarnival

This is what I was using, just black. Elastic string.

u/Vagfilla · 1 pointr/whatisthisthing

Haha, OK then look up elastic cord. Here's an amazon example

u/supersteller · 1 pointr/electricdaisycarnival

Kandi bracelets are made up of beads that you string together yourself. Think of children's jewelry, specifically called pony beads, alphabet beads, and elastic string.
