High rise underwear for sure...like the ones that say briefs and come way up, it keeps the elastic off of the incision. And dresses, I bought some cheap t-shirt dresses and some nursing nightgowns to wear as dresses bc I'll likely have another c section this time and hated every piece of clothing last time. I typically hate dresses but they really did help. I also wore the always disposable underwear for like 2 wks after delivery, less pad rash and they came up pretty high and didn't irritate my incision too much. Honestly, it sucks but getting a few things that are comfy will make a big difference.

We are a 20 minute drive from the hospital and husband will not leave my side, so I'd like to get everything in. I'm a notorious overpacker, too, but I'd rather have something I don't need than have not have something that I do need.

These(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072JPDDM1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_bMYXDb9S9AH0W) sorry I don't know how to clean up a link, are awesome! They're 95% cotton, have a cute lace trim, and are soooooo comfy. Plus a 4 pack is only $18.

Don't they make absorbant underwear now for light days/incontenance? I think a friends of mine uses them, but not sure if progesterone would cause them to fall apart/not absorb/etc. They are washable and reusable, too.

Amazon reviews of this (or similar) are decent:

For everyday undies, I'm pretty committed to Madewell cotton-modal and the mesh-trim panties because I've been so pleased with them. They can also be purchased at Nordstrom. Not sure where you are but both stores ship internationally. Looks like I found a few pairs on Amazon, too, here and here but honestly Nordstrom provides great customer service and makes online shopping and returning easy, and I prefer it over Amazon if you are in the US. While basics, the silhouette of these panties is sexy and modern and they often have fun prints. The bikini and the thong are my go-to styles for everyday for comfort and discreet wear. Modal is a super soft fabric, one of my favorites, so I think a cotton-modal blend is very comfortable. If you like sheer, check out the mesh-trimmed ones. They are not cotton but I still find them just as comfortable for daily wear. I really like them without lacy extras because for everyday panties, lace eventually wears out, looks shabby, and is uncomfortable. Madewell also sells a handful of pretty, lacy, sexy options, though. The size XS would probably fit her. If she needs something smaller than a 0, many stores sell size 00, though for panties most stores I see just stick to XS S M L sizing (XS would be appropriate for size 0 or sometimes 00).

Edit: I found a few more sheer options. The Glossies line by Gossard has been around for a while and they are shimmery and can be found on Amazon and many other places: thong, brief, high waist brief. I Recently found this Cosabella sheer option, too: thong, bikini style. Both brands also have a number of more fancy, lacy options. More: On Gossamer Mesh Bikini and Bluebella for creative options.

Yes to the granny panties for sure. I had an abdominal hysterectomy and all my underwear cut perfectly across my incision. I ordered some online and they were perfect in that they had a comfortable yoga pant style waist in the front. Good luck and happy healing to you!

I hate those mesh undies with a passion. I have had 2 uterine surgeries and a c-section and each time I bought a pack of cheap Hanes all cotton granny panties and brought my own overnight pads.

For my c-section since I wasn't sure what the bleeding would be like I bought these: Innersy Women's Period Panties Cotton Protective Underwear Pack of 3 (US Size XS S M L XL XXL)(XXL,3Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BPT5TMM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_AmsHDbM9ACWVD and I loved them. They sat well above my incision, they were comfortable, breathable and provided me way more security than those damn mesh things. I still use these at night when I have my period.

I did use the hospital pads eventhough I brought my own though just because they were there and I figured I was going to be paying for them so I may as well use them.

A lot of folks are mentioning padding - padded (gel) seat covers, padded shorts, etc. Not bad advice, but I kind of think a lot of the benefit of good bike shorts (regardless of what kind of junk you have) is that it sort of holds stuff in place and compacts it down a bit, you know? You might even have to arrange your labia a bit when you put the shorts on, to make sure they don't get tucked in there in a way that they're gonna get more pressure on them rather than less... you know? Hard to explain, but try (reading my mind a little and?) messing around with that.

And yeah, do watch out for underwear hems and stuff.

Good luck! :)

Edit: Also try bamboo fiber underwear. Or also any kind of boy shorts that don't have the usual kind of hem that briefs do.

I had weeks of lochia after my c-section, like 2-3, I think, and then I had more at 6 weeks from my placental scab sloughing off. I wore these underwear until my baby was like 6 months old, and now they’re my go-to period underwear.

These are the only underwear I’ve ever found comfortable. Not sure if it’s what you’re looking for, but it doesn’t contradict any of your requirements so it’s worth a shot. Their sizing chart is very weird and goes by waist instead of hips. I wear a size 6 in them and I have 39” hips and wear size 8 jeans.

I also used three band from the hospital and the mesh underwear for a while, washing them until they weren’t holding up well anymore. I did buy these underwear from Amazon and while I didn’t feel they were super supportive or anything, they were comfortable and didn’t bother my incision.

I bought a few different styles, and here are two that I really like. Both are low-waisted.

For this one, the sizes do run small. I normally wear small undies, but ordered medium for these, based on the product description, and they fit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01688451W/

These run true to size. Still low-waisted, with lower leg openings, closer to a boy short: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y695STX/

Both of them say hand-wash, but I’ve put them through the washer/dryer and they are fine. I always run my dryer on medium heat, because it makes all my clothes last longer, and the silk undies do fine.

Hi guys! I've received a bunch of requests for my wishlist, so I thought I'd start doing updates when I add new items.

All my wishlist items will be used for photos on Reddit :)

Here's what's new for this week - let me know what you think ~

Thanks for the recommendation!! I didn't realize there were so many options out there. I use a diva cup and unfortunately have very heavy periods (my heaviest days usually measure 80-100ml, the heaviest ever being 120ml!). I accept it, but I struggle to keep up with emptying my cup due to the nature of my work. So I end up leaking often and have used pads as backup, and end up with rashes from the trapped moisture/heat, not to mention all the ruined underwear and sheets and even leaks onto chairs/couches/etc.

I checked out 4period, but saw a review of someone breaking out from the heat/moisture. I'm looking at Hesla right now with all of its great reviews (https://www.amazon.com/Hesta-Menstrual-Sanitary-Protective-Underwear/dp/B01MS6KZOC/ref=pd_sim_193_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01MS6KZOC&pd_rd_r=TEXVH124A176PYPE7PA2&pd_rd_w=jLlVJ&pd_rd_wg=c69ts&psc=1&refRID=TEXVH124A176PYPE7PA2), but the price for the 3-pack in Amazon Canada is twice as much as the US (once the currency is converted!)
