Leah's Pony

Sorry to say; it's listed as historical fiction.

Canon: facts depicted in the source material. In this case, the show itself.

Soft-canon: facts depicted in side material. This would be the IDW comics and kids novels. Those materials are unofficially considered canon, but can later be contradicted by the show itself.

Head-canon: stuff made up to suit your own interpretation of the show. May or may not be based on what's actually depicted in the show.

Fanon: stuff made up by fans which has gradually become accepted by a large (or at least vocal) portion of the fanbase.

____

So, examples:

Canon: Lyra likes to sit up like a person on benches. Bon-Bon used to be a secret agent for a now-defunct agency.

Soft-canon: Lyra and Bon-Bon went on a monster hunting adventure together (Lyra and Bon-Bon and the Mares from S.M.I.L.E.)

Head-Canon: I think Lyra is a bit hyperactive, but sweet; while Bon-Bon is prone to fits of strange logic and trying to do things the hard way.

Fanon: Lyra is obsessed with legendary monsters called "humans" and their "hands." Bon-Bon is the straight mare, and often gets frustrated with Lyra's weird, childlike behavior.

Before you try your hand in makeup, here's something that might help you gather the necessary skills: https://www.amazon.com/Unicorn-Coloring-Book-Kids-Ages/dp/1999896963

It might seem advanced but I think you can do it if you keep trying.

Can we please get a walk thru on how to get the kindle version for 99 cents that we can then add on the Audible?

If I go here, it lets me buy kindle for 99 cents but there's no option to add the audible version.

If I go here, I can pay 6.99 for the Kindle version which lets me add on the Audible one. I see mention of the Matchbook version for 99 cents, but as far as I can tell, that's paying 99 cents after buying the print edition

u/maxufimo · 3 pointsr/mylittlepony

Why just an episode?

There's an entire book!

u/Teebocks · 3 pointsr/MLPLounge

Yep, you can even get it in hardcover.

Happy to have helped.

There is a series of books on Littlest Pet Shop. They call themselves the "ultimate handbook."

And there are plenty of books on unicorns. You just have to figure out what she might like.

A book of unicorn stories, a story about a unicorn, an arty one, one about the legends. Who knows? It might lead to her reading "The Last Unicorn" one day.

Here are a few...

I really don't deserve to be gifted. I recently ran my first contest and have been shipping out prizes today and will continue shipping out prizes for a few days from now, but that's really the only thing I've done of merit, recently. I've been eyeing this omnibus so as to better complete a collection of mine I was never able to finish collecting while the individual issues were in-print. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1631404091/?coliid=I8OVPPC9U1WU1&colid=3DL8VV28IXZQ5&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

I'm almost certain you're thinking of the Gom on Windy Mountain series, and probably the 4th one. I'll check when I get home and flip through that one. They were written by Grace Chetwin, and here's a link to the 4th:

Favorite book for a while in middle school: The Perfect Distance

Other good books:

Most anything by Marguerite Henry (Misty, Sea Star, San Domingo). I read those alot.

Also Walter Farley (Black Stallion, Man O War).

Seabiscuit

Thats all I'm thinking of off the top of my head. I'm sure some of there ere posted earlier.

EDIT: Also Equus was a good read, had horses in it but I wouldn't say it was "horsey" per say. Definitely more mature than my other suggestions.

u/gregaustex · 1 pointr/PoliticalDiscussion

This is for public schools (so younger students than college), and the law would forbid going on about a “partial political issue that is not germane to the topic of the course or academic subject being taught.” I think this makes perfect sense. I could however debate whether it should be a law or just a policy and a parental expectation. Age of student is an important variable in this discussion. By the time someone is in college they should be able to more critically evaluate what they are being "taught" than a 9 year old.

Teachers are authority figures who are chartered with teaching specific subjects. In order to do so they have children as a captive audience for an extended period. Political evangelization, especially on controversial or divisive topics, is absolutely an abuse of power and influence.

Lacking this clear understanding you get bullshit like we experienced at our elementary school. Our school is very diverse, near the boarder of and encompassing a liberal city and a relatively conservative area, so we have the whole political spectrum. We had a teacher hand out Rush Limbaugh's children's books to the kids (https://www.amazon.com/Rush-Revere-Brave-Pilgrims-Time-Travel/dp/B00FMXK57I). In my opinion this should have resulted in disciplinary action.

So I would say if a student can discern what side of an issue or what party a teacher adheres to based on their teaching, that teacher has failed them.

I see. Do you two not get along or aren't that close?

For some really general recommendations, there's the Art of Equestria book, the 4DE plushies or maybe one of the comics omnibus?

Then again, if he's really into the fandom and makes his own plushies, he may have all these things. Do you know if he has a favourite pony?

I only mentioned thoughtful because that's my gift giving preference.

u/wbgraphic · 1 pointr/funny

What, exactly?

I'd guess you're referring to the Rush Limbaugh book, but it is in the correct section.

Yes, Rush Limbaugh wrote a children's book.

u/savannahshea7 · 1 pointr/whatsthatbook

Robert the Rose Horse? Some similarities to what you're describing but it's not exact.

u/Gibstov · 1 pointr/mylittlepony

Apparently there is an Equestria Girls novel by GM Berrow , who has written some of the MLP books, that is coming out.

Also there are some EQG comics coming out as well.

As far as the TV show, since its the same writers, cast, and everything, personally I would rather they concentrate on pony.
