Wearing Timberland boots to a wedding in India. I got a pair of black Florsheim boots for Christmas. Why couldn't George just buy a pair of black dress boots? The man is flying to India, for pete's sake. The least he could do could be to get a pair of black dress boots.
What are the best two "starter" shoes that a fashion newbie can get? At the moment i'm leaning towards something like this and this, thoughts?
Vans are actually pretty stylish IMO. They've got some great classic sneakers, and some good in-betweens too (their boat type shoes can be passable)
For style - this MFA shoe guide is probably the best for the in-between shoes you're looking for. They also list some good cheap options.
An example of something I like in the in-between range is the Simple Benedict Chukka - these have been a great in-between shoe for me. They go well with both shorts and cuffed jeans, and they're incredibly comfortable and fairly affordable to boot.
If you would be willing to get the Bushacre 2s (different sole, extra cloth layer inside) then you could get them here on Amazon for 20% off $77. Just an option.
I ordered these online 2 days ago. What do you think? (Rock Grey)

They're look similar to the MFA acclaimed Clark's Desert Boots. I bought them at ~$25 on sale.
Yeah, that's true. You should definitely find an alternative that will be appropriate for the weather you get there. Try the Bushacre. They don't have a crepe sole, so they'll hold up better against the wet climate. Lots of color options! Brown leather is pretty versatile, and suede might not be the best for your weather.
I've very satisfied with my RW Beckman Chukkas

http://www.amazon.com/Red-Wing-Heritage-Beckman-Chukka/dp/B003HKRW56
You could probably find a quality used pair on ebay for $180-250
Go 1/2 size down
Does anybody know the difference between Clarks Oakwood and Oakwood Suede?. The latter seems darker, but it's probably just because of lighting and I'm looking for more of a brown shade, not sand.
I’m thinking about picking up a pair of these: CLARKS Men's Bushacre 2 Chukka Boot, Dark tan Leather, 9 Medium US https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NAHLREY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_RoRJBbW4GVHS8
For wearing to class/work in the fall. With
hunkschinos, jeans, etc. I wear mostly shirts and sweaters, but I think they’ll look good with T-shirt’s tooEdit: forgot to mention that I usually wear very little color, (mostly white/black/blue/gray) and my only other casual shoes are Stan smiths and black chucks. Should I still get these in brown? I think these shoes in black don’t look as good, is there an alternative?
That's my style! Wait for a sale at [J Crew] (https://www.jcrew.com/ca/mens_category/shirts/slimshirtshop/PRDOVR~36997/36997.jsp?color_name=white) and [Scotch and Soda] (https://www.scotch-soda.com/ca/en/men/pants/stuart---classic-chinos-%7C-slim-fit/130991.html?cgid=10&start=2&dwvar_130991_color=rifle%20green) and load up. I love the Stuart slim fit chinos at Scotch and Soda - they have Elastowhatever and stretch. Most comfy chinos I have ever tried on.
Grab some [timberland] (http://www.amazon.com/Timberland-Mens-Brook-Park-Chukka/dp/B00I1A91R4) chukkas. Or maybe some [Steve Maddens] (http://www.zappos.com/steve-madden-harken-cognac-leather) and you are off to the races!

This boot as an alternative to the CDB, looking for something more durable, can anyone confirm it's quality or if it's okay looking/ugly?
Appears so, from the description on Amazon & Wolverine's websites
"The Latham is the first made-in-America chukka in the Wolverine 1000 Mile Collection..."
Edit: decided to go ahead and buy them, they're returnable anyway.
Looking into buying first pair of boots. Which ones should I get? this or this. If so what colour should I get that would be the most versatile and look the best?
Same exact situation here. Would reccomend these Barron Chukkas I've been wearing for a week or so. Not sure how they'll hold up, but they were $60 and they look great.
These ones?

You can get them on Amazon! I got them on sale for $30-40 thanks to /r/frugalmalefashion
I want some nice leather boots to go with my "jeans and plain t-shirt" look. These and these are what I've narrowed the choices down to because A: They're a good price and I'm a poorish student, and B: They're both waterproof, which is important because I live in the PNW. Thoughts?
Amazon non-mobile site. Try different styles and sizes, the prices vary. For example, Navy/Blue Suede in size 11 is only $54.00.
This is the boot he was suggesting.
Anyone ever bought or tried Kenneth Cole Chukkas before? How are they for the price?
Of course, I'm not looking for GYW and incredible leather at this price point. I just want comfortable shoes that would last a year or two of weekly use.
Oh believe me, I've considered just about every chukka you can possibly imagine. The two at the top of my list for a while were Red Wing Beckman Chukkas (and probably having a cobbler remove those ugly lugs on the sole) or Alden Cordovan chukkas in cigar, but over time I just realized that the thick, workboot-looking style of the red wings or the shiny, dressy style of the Aldens just wasn't for me. In reality, I'm going for a look more like the one on the left here, and the stuff that MFA usually pushes just isn't too great for that. Not to mention my shoe collection is around 20 strong at this point, with AE wingtips and loafers and park avenues and so on, so I've no need for more dressy stuff.
By the way, you might be thinking the Wodehouses I linked to are low quality because of the Timberland name, but those boots are Timberland Boot Company, which is essentially a premium sub brand of Timberland that uses Horween leather and superior construction in their boots. Sure, they probably won't last as long as 1000 Miles or something, but they'll most likely last longer than I'll even care for the style.
I'll avoid the Topmans though. I only asked because I have literally zero experience with that brand.
Looks like these with different laces.

i actually know what she was talking about!

she confused your shoes for those... she's not a shoe aficionado like me! lol
Honestly, it's coming down to shoes for me. I want to experiment with more casual boots and shoes. Right now, my go-to has always been these basic Adidas sneakers but I did buy dark navy blue suede shoes sort of like these that I plan on wearing with light colored chinos and a button shirt for days I need to be business casual. Hopefully, to experiment. I am trying to consolidate my options too, just because I have a lot of clothes I simply don't use.

I got way too many graphic tees. I hope I won't regret it.

Which of these work best if im thinking to wear them with jeans. Both dark and light.
And can I pull then off with a hoodie? Probably not but I'm just wondering if it's like a solid color.
Seconding the recommendation to look around at general chukka boots. Almost every leather shoe brand puts out a few styles. I generally advocate for welted construction over cemented, although I will concede that at the lower end of shoe quality where you may not want to resole the upper anyway it probably doesn't matter as much.

For brand recommendations on the more frugal end of things, Golden Fox sits at the entry level for welted construction, and their leather chukkas can be had for ~$80 on Amazon depending on sizing.

Sierra Trading Post also has a number of nice Chippewa options (MiUSA with imported parts if you care about that kind of thing) including these leather options at $100 or these suede ones at $60

Beyond this price range, you could consider Astorflex Greenflex at ~$132 (Suede and crepe sole options also exist) or the Red Wing Weekender Chukka (Factory seconds occasionally show up on Nordstrom Rack for ~$100-$120)
Black suede isn't going to stain.
I have this pair of black suede, and saw no staining.

I have this pair of oakwood, and they are almost solid blue where my denim overlaps the shoe.

These are what you're looking for
For reference, I have these clarks at size 7 and they fit perfectly just not comfortable. I know Clark’s run large. Would you say that a size 7 for the katahdin iron work boots would fit the same?
It's weird to me how little the sole stick out past the upper, and that the stitching isn't visible. I have a pair of the Brook Park arriving soon, which are similar but look more traditional to me. I'm hoping the claim that they run narrow is true, as that's the reason I don't own any good boots yet—my feet are between a B and a C on a brannock device and most boots are boats.
Sorry, they're sold out now. They were these in the color rust.
can't find many colors available right now, but I'm pretty sure it's these

Did you get those?
I didn't even think to check the reviews on Amazaon. DUH!!!! I always go for the bad reviews first.

Pros:
One guy suggested to shell out a little more and get these John Varvatos Men's Barrett Side-Zip Boot, but they don't have them in my size.
I could really use your help guys.
I've been wearing much nicer shoes and nice dress socks lately. But I live in a downtown and walk a lot everyday. The nicer looking shoes are KILLING my feet and legs. Are there some really great looking dress shoes that will hold up to a lot of walking?
Here's what I've been wearing the past few weeks: http://www.amazon.com/Kenneth-Cole-REACTION-Desert-Sun/dp/B00KBSUX6M
What about a simple Chukka like this
Would that be acceptable to wear with tapered chinos/jeans?
Did anyone paint their nubuck shoes?
I have this shoes (navy blue):
https://www.amazon.com/Tommy-Hilfiger-Gervis-Chukka-Medium/dp/B07BDYT8M5
I have that for about five months and wanted to dye them again to navy blue. I found online a navy blue dye for nubuck, but also I do not want to ruin my shoe's color. This will be the first time I will paint a nubuck, does anyone have experience about that?
So sad..wish I could get an XS. Doesn't look terrible but doesn't look good either eh?
These. Maybe my favorite of all time.
For the Red Wing 6" Moc Boot, which color is more versatile (not including black)? Here's a link with the colors: http://www.amazon.com/Red-Wing-Shoes-Classic-Moc/dp/B0032UYKXI/ref=pd_sbs_shoe_6?ie=UTF8&refRID=0AVRB6HG7A03YPXYGF23
Can someone recommend me a waterproof leather boot preferably under $200? I love the look of the Rockport Storm Surge boots but I heard the build quality is garbage. Any similar alternatives?
For those looking for the boots, these are decently close
