Actual military member here. We use shirt stays (I think normal people call them garters). Uncomfortable, but you'll look crisp as can be. I recommend the stirrup style rather than the clip/clasp style to prevent being snapped if they come undone. I've known Marines to wear 8 shirt stays at once to look sharp for special events, but one pair should work well for a regular civilian wearing pants.

Let's not forget the Navy's camouflage. Never mind, that's a camo pattern someone made with pink in it, to not actually be camouflage. The NWU has 3 variants, along with every fucking service branch having different cammy patterns for different environments. I wasn't even in the navy and I fucking knew this. A 5 minute trip on the internet will tell you that gasp the same camo patterns don't work on everything.

Unless its a "wymyn" camo pattern. Nobody could possibly see it then, because men can't hurt wymyn, so nobody gets hurt.

Different rant, ABUs were only a sort of ok pattern. The biggest waste of money was the debate the materials that were used.

I can't help but feel like these selections are more about function than form. Not saying there's anything wrong with that, but I prefer trying to marry both.

I don't think I'm ever going to be able to trick myself into wearing a denim jacket and though I'll own jackets with big hoods, they'll be reserved for unusual situations in which I need to be out in the rain for an extended period of time without an umbrella.

For fall I really like military styled 2 or 4 pocket jackets like the M-65 style jackets (usually cotton and can be lined or unlined - Ex 1, Ex 2, Ex 3 ) and light technical shells (matte material that is wind and water proof with a mock neck - very sleek Ex1 Ex2 Ex3 ). Winter will find me in peacoats (see peacoat guides), car coats and the occasional well-insulated, fitted technical shell with a mock neck and hidden zip-in hood (I'm not overly familiar with the current offerings so I'd have to do some looking).

M-65 style jackets are all over the place. Technical shells can be had from marmot, patagonia, north face, columbia, etc - you'll want to watch out for branding if that's not your thing. Peacoats can be had anywhere (new) or on ebay (authentic used) or a army surplus stores (usually used). Car coats, similarly are all over the place.

You most likely won't catch her feeding.

We just had a litter of 6 about 2 months ago, and I only caught her feeding twice.

They feed late at night/early in the morning usually.

The absolutely best way to help the babies is keep mom healthy and happy. She knows what's best for the buns.

Keeping the box clean is important, but it doesn't have to be done daily. During the time our 6 were in the box, we cleaned it out a few times and made a new litter box for them once.

Make sure the doe has all the hay she can eat. Alfalfa is good to give her right now. And PLENTY of water. We had to start refilling our large bottle twice a day.

Something that will help the buns socially is for you to talk to them from the get go. Let them know humans are normal parts of the environment and that we're not something to be feared.

Some people like to pick them up and handle them from birth. We waited about a week before we started to take them out of their nest to have human time.

A fleece hat makes a great baby bun carrier and it keeps them warm. We'd let the little guys sleep on our chests for 15-30 minutes at a time. We tried not to go longer than that because we didn't want to upset their mom.

If you have any questions, just ask. I'm not an expert, but I've spent hours and hours and hours reading up on rabbits and reproduction so we could give our guys the best chance possible.

Btw, 6 born, 0 deaths, 3 boys, 3 girls, all happy and healthy. :)

This is what you want, its an elastic belt that goes between your shirt and your pants, and has a velcro like feel on both sides and basically velcros your shirt to your pants. I use it cause I dont like long socks required for most shirt stays and if I wear it I dont have to retuck everytime I sit down.

I don't know about tops, but I really, really like my Dickies Scrub pants. They're very comfortable, have held up for nearly a year with no sign of wearing down, clean easily, and can be worn in pretty much any situation. They don't really look too specifically like scrubs, so they're versatile.

As for tables, I have an oakworks table. It came with my tuition and it seems a decent quality. I like it, but haven't really shopped around for tables sense I feel more or less set for the moment.

Welcome, and good luck!

Since you're an AK user, if you ever find that crossdraw-style vest getting too hot or bulky for you, I'll point you towards the Chinese Type 81 chest rig - 4 AK magazine pouches plus 2 grenade pouches for misc. storage, all in a quiet, lightweight little bundle! You'll have to find another solution for your pistol, but I'd recommend getting a good hardshell holster for that anyways.

General rules of thumb:

  1. No rifle is complete without a good sling

  2. No pistol is complete without a good holster

  3. Be fast and aggressive - you're not actually going to die if you get hit

  4. Be honorable and have good sportsmanship even if someone else doesn't - everyone has a lot more fun if they're hearing "Great shot!" from across the field instead of "Call your hits!"

I just bought the Carhartt Extremes (plus hood) on Amazon. Amazon mailed me a postcard with a 20% off code on fashion, shoes and watches, which put me over the line.

It also made me pick up the gravel ridge coat to see if I like it. These items should arrive in the next couple days.

I suspect the Extremes coat will be a keeper. The ridge coat is a bit more of a (style) risk, so we'll see if I keep both.

That LL Bean looks a bit risky. Anything past the knees seems like you might decide you don't like the style over the next 5 years?

u/NiceShotMan · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I had a jacket made by Element (the skate brand) that was a cross between this Carhartt M-65 and this Levi's trucker. I'd recommend it but I can't find it sold anywhere anymore (bought it 3 years ago). Pity because I just lost it...

u/AirsoftGrunge · 2 pointsr/airsoft

Midcaps or highcaps? Define "a few". You could tape them together, or get mag clamps. It's a pain if you run more than two and need to ditch the clamped ones, however.

Something like a Chicom chest-rig sounds about perfect for your needs.

u/Quadly · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Woah, really appreciate the detailed response! You really do utilize the bomber well in a lot of your fits.

I always see the AI slim MA-1 recommended, but the gold zippers and puffiness put me off. I do love the cut of Zara's bomber, but they don't currently have any in black. Killion offered an awesome bomber, but I missed the pre-order... Uniqlo and Gap both discontinued their black bombers. I really just want one with silver zippers and a matte or wool finish.

So currently I've been refreshing Grailed every day, but I still can't find the perfect one for under $150.

Just get a pair of BDU pants without a pattern on them. Same weight etc., less of an issue.

Rothco on Amazon

u/SweetTeaBags · 2 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

As far as work boots go, for getting your men's size equivalent, I have usually gone down a size and a half and had an accurate fit. So if you wear an 8 1/2 like I do, then you'd be a 7 in men's. Danners are my absolute favorite brand because although they're expensive, they last a long time and are far less painful to break in!! I still have my 8 year old pair from when I was enlisted!

One brand of cargos (I know you said work pants) I found that remotely fit properly were the Rothco brand. They're cheap and they have a way to cinch in the sides for a better fit. You look to be on the smaller side, so I'd probably get a small if you decide on those. I ordered the medium when I was in my best shape. Depending on how much it costs to tailor the dickies, I'd just do that imho if it doesn't take too long. I'll check my work-issued cargos as well because those fit me beautifully and they weren't standard cheap work pants.

Edit: For clarity

I received their MA-1 Flight Jacket in Sage Green as a gift last year and love it. I'm 6'0" and 165 lbs with a long torso. Mine is a size medium and the arms fit me well but the torso is a bit short.

At the time Alpha Industries didn't sell a slim fit version, but they do now so I'm picking up both a medium and a large through Amazon using the code HOLLYJOLLY mentioned in another comment and I'll return whichever one doesn't fit and sell my old normal one on Craigslist or something.

I am torn between two bomber jackets that I've narrowed down. The Alpha Industries Men's MA-1 Slim Fit Flight Bomber Jacket and the Levi's Men's Ma-1 Flight Jacket. Both look awesome from the pictures and ratings but I would love to know if anyone here has had any experience with either of them. I'm partial to slim fits rather than the poofy jackets they traditionally come it.

Any input would be welcome. Thanks everybody.

Also have an A&F $50 gift card. If I remember correctly, when you order online using a GC, you get a discount. Selling for face value. Just getting rid of it.

By far the best purchase I’ve made https://www.amazon.com/Condor-Tactical-Fleece-Watch-Black/dp/B00F9IGIKO

I love those damn things. I can be inside a warm car and still have it on and not get overly hot, while I can be outside during my whole shift and feel warm.

u/NunsOnFire · 1 pointr/IASIP

Speaking of his jacket, I've always loved that jacket. I don't know how official this is, probably not at all, but I found this on Amazon. It's been in my wishlist for years, never came in stock.

If you want durable and good at zero or below you should look at aCarhartt Men's Arctic Quilt Lined Yukon Coat C55 . I bought this back in 2014 after my other carhartt jacket (over 15 years of use) got a bit ragged. This is an incredibly warm jacket and rugged coat. The outer layer is almost canvas like. I had a sweater on under this at -10F shoveling snow in the winter and got sweaty. It blocks winds
very well and I have stood outside at around 10F for hours without getting the slightest chill. I also got the optional hat.

Downside is that it is a bit stiff but after a few years and washes it gets better.

Not sure it this is too much into the parka territory for you but Carhartt does have other though jackets that are not as insulated.

Thermal Underwear:

Desert sand, cream, or white thermal underwear may be worn under the ABU. Thermal underwear will not be worn as an outer garment. Thermal underwear will not be visible under the ABU trouser and coat except at the neck.

I have a sand colored half-zip shirt that I was issued that is quite warm. I’d send a pic but we just moved and it’s still packed away (but I need to find it for winter). It’s similar to this one — Rothco ECWCS Gen III Mid-Weight Underwear Top (Level II), Desert Sand, L https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0040RWJ5S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_fQ4VDbTSW029S

It's worth trying, but keep in my u/postHocCertainty's points below. He's right, regardless of the downvotes.

I have both wool and synthetic, and run/hike/backpack/camp in both. Both are fine. Wool excels for multi-day trips because it doesn't hold the stink; even treated synthetics stink eventually. But for one run, that's not a consideration...it's just personal preference.

I run in merino tops sometimes, but one of my favorite warm shirts is actually one of the cheapest...the military issue waffle shirt.

u/literally_yours · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

If you want a seriously heavy duty military belt, I suggest using a rigger's belt. They're super cheap and will literally last forever (with no pin issues for your buckle). I've worn mine nearly every day and in a couple combat zones for 5+ years with no wear to show except some paint chipping on the buckle.

Shoes: I wear my Doc Martens. I have 3 pairs that I rotate through so they have time to breathe and reduce foot funk. Each pair has gel inserts (Dr Scholl's I think?).

Scrubs: I swear by my dickies for bottoms and tops. I've tried various brands, these are the ones I like best.

Stethoscope: I haven't needed more than the disposable ones on the unit in 5 years of behavioral health. Been in the ER for 6 months, think I've needed a good stethoscope 3 times (2 asthmatics, 3rd time for bowel sounds on an obstruction).

Edit: clarified statement to reflect needing more than disposable stethoscope

You'll want a tank-shirt and shirt-stays. If you don't like Amazon, you can usually find the shirt-stays at Army/Navy stores, and the tank-shirt should be at any Walmart. The tank-shirt is basically a wife-beater (A-shirt), but with smaller arm/neck holes. The shirt-stays attach to the bottom of the tank-shirt (front and back), and clip on to the top of your socks. Put your boxers/etc. on OVER the shirt-stays.

Aside from the obvious benefits, it also makes you feel more "put together", and you'll find the undershirt (shirt-stays or not) is great for keeping sweat off of your outer clothes. Plus, if anyone ever asks what the hell you're wearing, you don't have to explain it as "I'm hiding my man boobs", but instead as "my socks keep falling down".

The shirt-stays will fall apart eventually, so keep a few pairs in your dresser.
