You need to hook her up with a SockSlider.

u/notnowfetz · 39 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

There’s actually a tool you can buy to help you with this.

u/nitro479 · 23 pointsr/whatisthisthing

It is a dressing stick. Very useful for those without much flexibility due to arthritis or other such problems. I use one frequently, very helpful. https://smile.amazon.com/Sammons-Preston-Dressing-Lacquered-Reinforced/dp/B0745LTMXZ

Wood handled button hook, which uses the wire loop. The little hook on the other end is used to grip a zipper pull-tab as well - for people with limited finger dexterity.

and here's a very similar one on amazon

My gramps is an amputee and uses a button hook. Not sure if they're strong enough to use on raw denim, but worth a try.

I believe parachord would be cheaper, but I'm not sure

u/BarelyLethal · 8 pointsr/ladylifehacks

Yeah, that seems to be how most hacks go. For every one of these there is a specific tool, but if you don't want to buy a $13 bracelet wand you can get by with a neat trick.

u/DIYDuder · 7 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

I bought these because of their good reviews and apparent indestructability.

I called Chippewa and confirmed that the 6" Apache's have 60" laces, so I ordered the 54" ones from Amazon. They're supposed to get delivered today so I haven't seen if they fit well, but I presume they will.

u/BeastOGevaudan · 7 pointsr/SeattleWA

It sounds like you could use a button hook.

u/dollyparton26 · 6 pointsr/ABraThatFits

It's hard to know those things until you are faced with such issues. I helped a friend's dad with parkinsons and arthritis. [This thing] (https://www.amazon.com/Allstar-Innovations-Stretching-Straining-Convenient/dp/B072J9RX5Z/ref=sr_1_7_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1506427668&sr=1-7&keywords=sock+aid) helped so much with socks and this thing was super useful on the go. This and this I've just seen but they look useful too. Check the reviews, they might help you know if they're worth it. So sorry you're going through such a hard time. Sending you big hugs.

u/Infantryman556 · 4 pointsr/mallninjashit

They dont burn or break , they also dont stay tied.
Ironlace Lace (1-Pair), Brown, 54-Inch ( 6-7 eyelets) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AK9EWLY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_su4wzbGYB6RD2

Used in clothing stores to reach clothing (usually on hangers) that are on racks up high.

I sit corrected. It's a dressing stick.

u/Spacejack_ · 2 pointsr/technology

It's been a while, lemme see.

Yeah, sorry, it's passed beyond my ability to confirm which ones I actually bought. But this is the kind of thing you're looking for: https://www.amazon.com/High-Quality-Clip-Glasses-Televisions/dp/B00LEO740U/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1485311729&sr=8-4&keywords=real3d+glasses

Note that this will not work for IMAX 3-D which uses a different scheme for the polarization. If you click around you'll find clipons for those too.

Your comment made me think of this post on /r/wheredidthesodago but I'm not sure what the infomercial was actually for!

I use a tool that helps do buttons and a hook for other things like zips. https://www.amazon.com/Good-Grips-Sure-Button-Hook/dp/B0006Z3GYG

[Iron Laces] (http://www.amazon.com/Ironlace-Lace-1-Pair-9-10-eyelets/dp/B00AK9LUCI) - if you can physically pull 1500 pounds (hell, even 300 pounds), you may want to stop going to the gym.

One of the best things I can think of ...

Buttons are extremely difficult for some people.

u/hangonlittletomato · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

This one by Ironlace has great reviews.

I desperately need these or these

I have an odd stride - I pronate my feet and Im a bit bowlegged, so my heels wear unevenly. Ive worn my high-heels to the point of exposing the metal spikes within the heels, and its super expensive to have them repaired - and I cant afford to replace each pair of shoes. Im trying to aggressively take care of financial things, so I dont have a lot of extra scratch and stuff like this is out of the question for now.

I want to soak in a hot tub :(

u/DimAcetylation · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I wore stilettos to a wedding this weekend and one of the little plastic heel tips came off. Are the DIY replacements (like these) worth the bother or should I take them to a cobbler? They're not fancy shoes - from Aldo, going on ten years old at this point - but I'd hate to screw them up because they're surprisingly comfortable.

I work in construction and have to wear steel toe boots. I found some side zip that are a god send I can just slip my feet into the with no issues and if I want a tighter fit I just zip them up. Since I found the side zip boots I've looked for similar kinds in dress shoes with some pretty good luck. I love converse also and they can be tricky. I'll also wear some Van slip ons.

For socks I only really wear them when I need to. I can't stand to walk around in just socks so I usually go barefoot around the hose. I have seen some sock holders that you set up and slide your foot into:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07285V3VW/ref=sspa_dk_detail_1?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B07285V3VW&pd_rd_w=Su0id&pf_rd_p=8a8f3917-7900-4ce8-ad90-adf0d53c0985&pd_rd_wg=xwKX5&pf_rd_r=N1QW4W4GTKKXHDP9VN4A&pd_rd_r=e8ddf36a-a5c9-11e9-888e-11c74a3a8f49

This is what I found.

For toe nails I go to get a pedacure every other week to maintain. As a man in construction it is one of the better things I have done for my self. You need to take care of you feet after all.

I like to wear button up shirts so if you are having elbow issues I would suggest leaving them buttoned up and only leave like the bottom button unbuttoned and maybe the top three so you can just slip it on over your head with only having to button minimal buttons.

Sorry for lenthy post in Short added some links for a back scrubber and a sock slider device and other, hopefully, helpful ideas and work arounds.

All those suggestions are fine as long as you get one that is snug but not overly tight. We send all of our patients home with both a vest as well as foam like this:

Post Surgery Foam Sheets, Surgical Compression Garments ContourMD, 8"x 11" Set of 2 (Lipo-1) White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073M2DJRN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_VhlvDbY3F2J15

Consider it as it works well for additional compression if your surgeon is ok with it.

There's this... http://www.amazon.com/Jobst-60201-Stocking-Donner/dp/B00120238E

They'd still be a lot of work to get on with this but it helps at least get them started without having to lean forward to much. I'm an OT and TED hose suck for patients to get on.

u/BasicPumpkin12 · 1 pointr/pregnant

Pair it with this ?

u/everhood13 · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

Hey ladies! I got here a bit by accident, but I wanted to let you all know that ugly compression socks are one thing you don't have to put up with. I have to wear them due to having had a DVT and having Post-Thrombotic Syndrome. Here are some of my favorites:

Cutecompression.com has lots of cute styles.

Sockwell has tons of cute styles on Amazon.

Celeste Stein has many cute varieties on Amazon, and they are thinner (great for summer).

I haven't personally tried these or these, but I bet they're ok.

And, finally, some of you may benefit from a sock donner.

Best wishes on your pregnancies, and I hope this helps some of you!

I used to have that problem frequently with laces that came with boots/shoes. I was told it was because I like to tie them tight. I can say Iron Laces are pretty miraculous though - been using them daily for 3 years with zero breakdown or deterioration of the laces.

https://www.amazon.com/Ironlace-1-Pair-Brown-54-Inch-eyelets/dp/B00AK9EWLY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1520273218&sr=8-1&keywords=iron+laces

They're a little pricy, but this line was made for people fighting cancer. They give the doctor's plenty of access to the areas of the body they need for medical procedures while still looking better than a hospital gown.

Leggings are little tricky if she might have dexterity issues. They're hard to pull on if your hands aren't working quite right since they're tighter. What about some linen pants instead? They're nice and light, easy to get on and off, and would look nice with a bright patterned top or tunic.

You also want to avoid things with small buttons if her motor skills will be impacted. Look for larger snaps/velcro, or have a tailor swap out existing buttons for these options. I also got my mom one of these things to help her out.

Also, best wishes to your mom! My mom has had brain surgery before and I know it can be scary. I'm sure your support for her will mean a lot and help her come out fighting. (((internet hugs)))

The best I've been able to come up with is Ironlace on Amazon
