Rookie! I have to irrigate my ears about every 6 months or I start losing hearing and am in pain. I over produce. It’s a weird family trait. I use the Elephant Ear Washer at home. It’s awesome.

ETA: Make sure to use warm water. Hot or cold can make you pass out.

ETA: I use 1/4 peroxide and then the rest warm water.

It's an ear pick for cleaning ears. See here.

Q-tips will only push wax more deeply into your ear canal. Use a real ear cleaner instead.

Hydrogen peroxide, preferably hydrogen peroxide gel. Put it in your ear for 5-10 minutes, then flush our your ear with one of those baby nose suckers. Massive ear wax chunks will fall out.

Something like this from the local pharmacy will do wonders: http://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Carbamide-Peroxide-Removal-System/dp/B002F8RC2E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1279546832&sr=8-3
It even includes the cup so you can see what comes out of your ear.

I bought this after watching the video... I can't wait to use it on someone :3

Yeah pretty interesting. I think gum chewing would be good for this, and the OP from that post mentioned cleaning your ears out with something like this could prevent it too.

u/BrapAllgood ¡ 2 pointsr/WeAreTheMusicMakers

$3.99 to change your life. I learned of these things a few years ago and my ears have never been so happy. Also, no more q-tip waste.

(Also also, you can use them in conjunction with another tool to package dabs.)

They sell ear wax removal kits at stores that are probably < 5 dollars. It has a solution that works to soften ear wax and usually a bulb syringe (like the ones used to clean babies noses out). Safest and most effective solution to do at home. Amazon link

Not sure if this counts as "material", but I used ear wax removal drops for the first time today, and I never thought I had that much build-up in my ears before, but oh, I was wrong. I can hear a pin drop from half a mile away after getting all of that crap out of my ears.

You blow up a balloon with your nose with it, one nostril at a time, and it really opens your eustachian tubes well and drains any fluid back there out. It's really handy for training or if you're out of practice so you can get used to the feeling of the tubes opening up, and you get an idea of how much pressure it takes to open them.

Open your mouth and make several sequential inhalations in through your mouth and out through your nose. This will draw less humid air in through your mouth for some time and serve to dry the surface of the area around your tonsils. With a dried mouth, you can use your finger to retract the forward skin flap because it will have greater friction so you just touch the pad of your finger outward of your tonsil and pull outwardly gently. This will further open the tonsilar crypt and make it easier to pick out the tonsiloth. Sometimes they even fall out when the forward tonsilar tissue is retracted.

If you have a steady hand, you can pick out the tonsil stone without poking the flesh of your tonsil: no gag reflex. Best tool for the job is a lighted ear curette:

http://www.amazon.com/Lighted-Curette-Earpick-Pick-Remover/dp/B0056FKJDM

The translucent pick end will deliver light right where you need it and save you from needing a third had to hold a flashlight. Although having a third hand would be a superior solution for many other tasks really. Goro must not have tonsiloths.

Most people just have a small ear scoop:

I actually think the ones with the fluff ball at the end are gross because you can't really clean them properly. I have one that is clear in the middle and glows with an LED similar to this:

Careful with toothpicks as they can push wax into the grills. You should just buy a wax loop.

NAD. If Debrox irritates you too much then try flushing with lukewarm tap water with some hydrogen peroxide added. You can use a bulb syringe or a purpose made product like this. They use the latter at a lot of clinics around where I live. If you don't have any luck doing it that way then it may be worthwhile to see an ENT or your PCP for regular ear flushes or suction removal of the earwax. If this is a recurring problem then they may want to see you every 3-4 months to help keep the wax from becoming an issue. If you have pain or irritation in your ear I would recommend seeing your provider to rule out infection or other underlying issues that you may have.

Thanks for bringing this up. It's not a common issue but it's not unheard of. Maybe we should be more proactive about telling people to avoid jumping after being congested. My ears clog with earwax annually, and if you have a similar experience I recommend you look into something like the ElephantEar system. Obviously talk to your doctor about it first, and certainly wait for any bruising in your ears to fully heal.
