Yes. In fact, there's a simple experiment you can do to see liquid carbon dioxide for yourself.

https://www.flinnsci.com/wet-dry-ice-lab/dc91639/

Safety warnings: Safety glasses are mandatory for this experiment. Dry ice can give you frostbite, so don't handle it with bare hands. Dry ice also produces lots of CO2 gas, so don't confine it in a container except as described below, and for god's sake don't eat it. I take no responsibility for injury or damage.

  1. Get some dry ice: it's sold at the ice store. Maybe you didn't know ice stores were a thing.

  2. Get some 3 ml disposable plastic pipettes, like this. Cut off the narrowest part.

  3. Set out a clear plastic cup of water. Don't use a glass cup.

  4. Put on safety goggles. Have a pair of pliers at the ready.

  5. Chop the dry ice up into very tiny pieces, and put the pieces in through the tip of the pipette until they partially fill the bulb.

  6. Fold over the tip of the pipette and clamp it firmly shut with the pliers. Immediately dunk it into the water. Make sure the bulb is completely submerged.

  7. The pressure inside the pipette will rise. When it reaches 5.2 atmospheres, the dry ice will suddenly turn into a liquid. A few seconds later, the pipette will blow up, throwing water everywhere.

Buy some disposable graduated pipettes and rubber band each one to your bottle of flavor.

This? No not at all. Its a gag gift. For measuring out 1 mL in a lab you are better off with a 1-10 mL pipet. This is a decent example. Link

I concur with your first week's findings. :-)

As for syringes... you might want to look into the SEOH Pipette pumps along with various sizes of pipettes for them. I absolutely love'em. So much easier to work with and also for the 1ml pipettes very smooth and accurate. Less hassle than syringes.

Also, I had no problem with the viscosity of VG with any size of the pipettes and the pump. Except that I had to push the top instead of using the pump release because VG just doesn't move as fast with just gravity doing its work.

etc. They have various sizes pipettes for these things and also a pump size larger than the 2ml and 10ml ones.

Snails aren’t “bad” they are just difficult. Try buying one of these or an eye dropper. Melt frozen blood worms into a little bit of warm water. Suck up just a little bit, and hold the dropper in the tank. Give it a little squeeze, so only one worm kinda comes out. Move it around a bit. They are very sight oriented. If they start eating then like that, you will be able to just drop in a cube and they will attach it!

You can also try growing your own brine shrimp.

I started with a hydrometer as most folks do. I brew 2.5 gal batches and didn't like losing so much wort to each test (I did not pour it back in for fear of infection) and the cooling period meant I couldn't really take useful measures during mash. Refractometer, on the other hand, uses a drop or two so I can test more often including near the end of fermentation. A 10" glass pipette from Amazon allows me to pull from the grommet opening, little risk of infection since I don't open the bucket and frankly it's very simple ... spritz StarSan into my hand, suck it up into the pipette a couple times, wipe the pipette down on the outside and pull the sample. Conversion is really not a problem for me as i'm always on the computer anyway. Don't see what a hydrometer gets me, it is collecting dust now.

Madam Curie who, when crime is afoot, becomes... The Radiation Sensation! She stalks criminals with Glass Dropper Pipettes filled with a slime that turns you into a radiation detector for an hour, and Bacon Aids to help recover those who were hurt (because seriously... who doesn't love bacon?).

Her hours in the labs have given her a near precognative ability to know when something bad is about to happen and so she stays one step ahead of crime. She has amazing Judo skills honed during her down time between being awesome and winning Nobel Prizes (yes, plural!). And even when she isn;t out crime fighting she's being awesome by discovering new elements and making an apperance on Bridget's First Contest!

:P So I would love the gift card! I'm moving to Taiwan to pursue my masters in Industrial Engineering (first one in the family to even have a BACHELORS!) and I really want to buy a Ipod so I can listen to music to past the 2 day flight time (3 hours to Miami, 4 to LA, and then 13 to Taiwan, with a total of 11 hours in Layovers :)

Its model paint so probably at a craft store, walmart might carry it. I was going to order some from amazon. This is the paint, and some droppers like these.

...why on Earth would you pay $4 for a dozen disposable pips when you can get a hundred of them for $12?

Complete the set with 5ml water pippets and 14ml test tubes.

Okay because I’m doing the same and have been having trouble getting ammonia up.

Just made a post about it too, my ammonia crashed hard and nitrites also are crashing. But with ghost feeding I can’t get ammonia above .25-.5 ppm. Nitrates are through the roof but that could be decomposition of the dwarf sag that is melting.

Not sure what tank you have or what you’re stocking, but I’m gunna add some snails before I add anything else once everything stabilizes. Should keep the cycle going while I decide exactly what I want. Might not be a bad idea for you if your trying to keep the bacteria alive until Thursday.

Edit: just saw your top level comment, I think a snail might be the way to go to keep the cycle going. I definitely notice algae grows worse from ghost feeding. Don’t forget that if it’s a planted tank, nitrates may never significantly rise. I’m currently on day 7 of my cycle.

All my tanks are considered low tech, but I use liquid and root ferts, and daily excel doses for algae control and increased growth. For small doses, plastic pipettes work fantastic.

A pipette works.

100 pcs White 3ML Capacity... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MSNQYTV?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

A drop is way less than 1 ml. I believe conventional wisdom is that there are approximately 20 drops per ml.

To be not accurate, is suggest using a dropper like this with 0.25ml increments: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076Q8G62M

Your dose may be 1ml now, but next time I would suggest making it 0.5ml so you can adjust up or down if you need to.

I used an empty ccell cart with the ccell palm battery which you can openly take in and just filled up one or two 1ml plastic droppers each night with CO2 oil or distillate and only had to sneak these bad boys in with the ends cut short and taped closed.

u/Grorco · 1 pointr/DIY_eJuice

Something like this?

Edit: 3ml

Will this pipettor and these tips work? The tips are not glass like those Corning ones, they’re made of “chemically resistant virgin polypropylene.” I bought them today but I have no problem buying the ones you used to use as they're pretty cheap in comparison. Thanks for the help

Happy Birthday Diaju!

These are on my $5 wishlist, and are prime-eligible :) need them for my fishtanks.

SEAO 10" Dropping Pipette on Amazon. It only cost $6.44 with free shipping.
It is long enough to get to the bottom of my tank and holds a lot of food. It also has super control in regard to how much food each coral gets.

u/Shadowpriest · 1 pointr/Aquariums

What I do is scoop out some water into a cup and then use one of my pipettes for my vials. So far here's a very inexpensive (albeit may take some time to get to you) pack of 100.

And this is of a different measuring size. Still a great deal.

You'd be better off with something like these:

You're welcome. A sep funnel is pointless. You'll get better results with a steady hand and one of these.
