When you get an extra $8 (4pack) you should grab some filters and stick it in front of your fan so the residue from the smoke doesn't clog it up: https://www.amazon.com/Filters-Soldering-Extractor-Absorber-Activated/dp/B00XIN1ENI It will turn your $5 build into a $7 one, though.

Awesome project though :)

With the weed business the way it is I’m surprised you can’t just order it off of Amazon, packed in a kit, ready to ship, with some vaguely western sounding but obviously made up brand-name like “kuZOMY”

Edit: well, well: ABLAZE Mini Closed Loop Extractor 45g Capacity Splatter Platter and Sight https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G9ZJ1VS

Well I'm glad to be talking to you then. Thanks for the detailed reply, brother.

> How does it taste?

Tastes like shit, homie, lmao. Like WD-40. I assume that's butane I'm tasting? Smells like uncured weed. But it got me high, and it didn't give me a headache. I just put it back in the vacuum chamber and put the chamber in a pot of warm water. I hope I can get rid of the petrolium taste.

> ... looks like you got about 8% tho which seems a tad on the low side, I mean no offense, just pointing that out.

No offense taken at all. Yeah, I was surprised that I got such a meager return. I was expecting more. I was using nothing but the lowest, loosest bud from my last crop. I hope I get a better return from my better herb.

> I’ve had varying luck with freezing the bud, RIGHT after I harvest it, and breaking the buds up as I put them in the blast tube. I just have a deep freeze (like ppl have in their garage) with my set up and keep everything in there. Next harvest I’ll be curing some like you did and also doing some by freezing right away. Freezing has yielding great results tho, so it might be worth a try on your end.

Thanks for these tips. I can do a much better job of getting everything very cold, and blasting quicker next time. I will do what you said and use less butane next time. I'm also thinking to just let the weed cure longer. I've only got a two week cure on it. Maybe I should just wait a month to try this again.

That 25 micron screen you suggested- Can you get into more detail please? Are you talking about a different metal and rubber screen gasket to replace the one that comes with the column? Or are you talking about this stuff?

Nicely done! Looks far better than my DIY fume extractor, that’s for sure. 😆

FWIW, Amazon has some pretty cheap activated carbon filters that are perfect for these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D5SBPN8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Most electronics is rated to work fine up to 150F, and I've never seen it go that high in there.

Here's the fire suppressor that's sitting above the printer: http://www.amazon.com/Fire-Fight-Products-SS30-90-CAG-Small-Format/dp/B00ECJ0ICK?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

The filtration system is a pack of these carbon filters (5 in total) http://www.amazon.com/Carbon-Filter-Activated-Weller-Absorber/dp/B009AE8DWO?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

I made a ghetto fixture out of cardboard and duct-taped the filters to them. This fan provides the airflow: http://www.amazon.com/AC-Infinity-AIRPLATE-Thermostat-Cabinets/dp/B00QFWLGPU?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

I just put a hole on the side to mount the fan. It's kind of a mess right now, but I'll take some pictures tonight.

Thanks! Unfortunately no wet weight. And as for a filter, I've used these to a degree of success. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009AE8DWO/ref=oh_aui_i_d_old_o1_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Haven't gotten a gauge on smell yet since I've been home since but I will try to remember to update you on smell late tonight

Get a cheap fume extractor and tell your mom that you are using lead free solder. Lead free solder kind of sucks if you actually use it, though.

As long as you are not leaving your soldering iron unattended then there is no fire hazard. I've accidentally left my soldering iron on for days at a time but I've got a good iron holder and a robust Weller soldering iron. Many soldering stations have built in timers.

Buy a filter pack and use it with a fan.
