I think yours look pretty good though
Very nice for your second. Heres a tip for trees, ive been slowlly learning how to do this. You can make some pretty good trees with some thin wire twisted a few times. Or if you want to buy some pre-made, this is one pack i purchased recently,

what ive been doing is chopping off the green on the trees and putting on some glue to the branches and sprinkling some woodlan sceneics fine turf on it for the leaves. also works nice for make shift bushes.
Got them on Amazon (here is the link):

I also got some moss from my garden and dried it up, works very well with miniatures... plus it’s free!
Probably something like this little unit. Smoke generators are pretty popular with model railroad builders.
Off the top of my head, you could try finding some scale scenery roses, many are out there for model trains and such. Try searching for scale scenery for either aquariums or train sets.

Other than stuff like that, you could try sculpting your own roses with Greenstuff, quick google found this:

Just clump foliage from Woodland Scenics:

Hey buddy...get out of my market place.
I picked up this set of trees from Amazon (super cheap, medium quality) and after carving up some blue foam with a hot wirecutter and mounting it on MDF, this is what I ended up with.

Fairly amateur still but I did an entire table for the cost of one of the Citadel Wood sets.

I liked these ones best so far.
Haha, toy train collectors and enthusiasts are suckers just waiting to be parted from their money. These companies also sell little tufts of lichen for ridiculous amounts.
Going to a pet store or model train store will get you a lot of cheap terrain that looks reasonably good. If you have some coin to throw around, I may recommend a nicer tree set, like this one

I've bought a couple packs of those before, and they look frankly fantastic.
My forest boards usually have a mix of nice/expensive trees and cheaper trees to fill up the board. Remember to get some line-of-sight blocking hills and cliffs to, and it's always nice to have a building or two.
For basing I'd recommend styrene sheets. They're cheap, easy to cut (I just use common scissors) and work well with regular model superglue.
I did a little trimming to make them a bit shorter

Artsy for life
One of my favourite crafts is Warhammer. I've done a conversion from $ which is £15.50? I love painting the models, never really been a fan of the game though. I have a lot of painted models, which I believe to look pretty good, thing is the basing. I've never really tried to do anything to adventurous with the bases, but have always wanted to.
This basing kit along with some PVA Glue would get me off to a great start at having 100% complete looking troops.
I used to have loads of photos of my Warhammer, but cannot really find any at the moment. I found one which is on my website Sorry for the small image.
Although the models are small and fiddly to paint, I just find it so relaxing, and have such a sense of achievement at the end looking at them finished. I can take more photos when I get home if anyone is interested.
Easiest way to spruce up the base is to get some tufts like these (or a different variety if you'd like) and stick a couple on. You can vary the sizes (6mm is knee-length, for instance) if you want. Simple but looks really good. https://www.amazon.com/Adhesive-Static-Wargame-Railway-Deagt6100/dp/B06Y5RXDLJ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1496681946&sr=8-3&keywords=tufts+grass

Figured as time poor terraniac newbie I’d do that before spending time to make my own with sea foam, wire and clay.
