man once I was carrying my MacBook in a sleeve at waist height and I dropped it down 5-6 concrete stairs. thankfully it wasn't damaged in the slightest but I think that must've taken a year off of my life considering how hard my heart dropped

edit: this is the sleeve that saved my MacBook pro in case anyone was wondering.

u/alienangel2 · 6 pointsr/hardware

If you just want a mech keyboard with your laptop and not the gaming stuff this one has, you can definitely carry a 60% mech like the pok3r with you. Put it in a sleeve and it + a regular slim laptop would be smaller and lighter than the gaming laptop above.

u/gyoungers · 6 pointsr/MSILaptops

Hey man. Yes they are hard to find but I got the Thule Gauntlet 3.0 15in sleeve. Really really good hard case sleeve which fits the GS65 just nicely.

I’d only suggest running very minimal programs if you’d like to use the laptop within the sleeve as literally every vent is completely blocked in this thing. Definitely not for gaming within the sleeve!

The best appeal is for transport though. The GS65 deserves the best protection it can get and the Thule is awesome and I highly recommend it!

This is the sleeve I bought for my RB15 based on a review in this sub and it’s honestly been amazing. Incredible construction quality and well padded yet thin. Couldn’t recommend it enough 👌🏻

These are the accessories I got for my SB2 15 inch. The ProCase 13-13.5 fits the 15 inch SB2 perfectly.

I use the Skinomi matte body skin. There's only one 1 star review, but it fits nicely, like a screen protector but for the whole body. They make it in matte and clear. Be patient with the skin, you're going to need time with it.

I have a smaller one of these for my XPS 13:

u/nicksvr4 · 3 pointsr/Dell

I bought https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00ZGY7OLI/

Only issue I had is a zipper that seems to be getting stuck (defective). Returning it and ordered a replacement already. Amazon is great for stuff like that.

I have the 15 inch version and I LOVE it.

This sleeve was posted earlier bu u/Gooner_here and several found it to be a perfect fit for the computer; I certainly did: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079HYKPCW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_p4M6Cb7F6WP87

I would highly recommend this case. Offers a bit of protection but really just serves as a way to carry my sp4 around without it getting noticed or scratched. Very slim fit and premium feel.

I have the exact same laptop and purchased this one from amazon:

Works great and I can even fit my laptop in a neoprene sleeve that i bought from amazon as well in the book bag. Link to that as well here:

Picked up this case the other day:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HCF15HC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Fits the 16" really well and has a side pocket for cables/charger. Seems nice but obviously I haven't had much time to truly test it out on the road yet.

u/JSS35 · 2 pointsr/macbook

Any updates?

Anyone purchase this?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MSSSBNW/ref=psdc_3012930011_t1_B01H4ZRGBY?th=1

Would prefer something with a second compartment for charger/dongles, etc.

u/alpacafox · 2 pointsr/Dell
u/DeyCallMeTater · 2 pointsr/AskWomen

I like something like this. Since it's often going into a backpack or briefcase or something anyway, this is just right because it's foam padded, and has a fleece lining (so no scratches) with a small pocket for accessories. It's simple and sleek. No froufrou.

u/imgrvy · 2 pointsr/macbookpro

I also had to make that decision to go with my 13" MBP and i ended up buying a sleeve since it's way more protective against scratches and falls than a thin skin that imo in the end doesn't really look better then the standard macbook. I got this cheap one off AMazon that also came with a handy little bag for chargers etc.

There are two versions with different orientations but that didnt really matter to me since I really only have my macbook sitting on top of it or ocassionaly use it as a mouse pad next to it, since the surface is very nice to the touch.

Vertical orientation sleeve

Horizontal orientation sleeve (imo the better choice)

P.S: Sorry for the German link, couldn't find it on the US page :/

u/i4get42 · 2 pointsr/Dell

I went with Initek 14 in because I wanted to be able to slide the PC in and out when the sleeve is in my backpack when traveling. To be honest it is a little tight sliding it in and out with just the "side" open, but it works. As a plus, the sleeve is good on its own if I just want to just take my laptop to a coffee shop.

u/el333 · 2 pointsr/macbookpro

I use this one and it's great. Take a look at the reviews for sizing because I got the 12 inch one for my 13 inch mabook pro. Only downside is that you can't get the top half of the case to somehow attach to the lid for times when you're likely to bump into things (on a plane, small table with a bunch of people, etc.) Not a big fan of cases that attach to the computer itself since I feel it reduces the cooling capacity. https://www.amazon.com/ProCase-13-Macbook-Surface-Chromebook/dp/B01MDTCGCP/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496962046&sr=8-1&keywords=procase%2B13%2B-%2B13.5&th=1

Take one of these sleeves stuff a down blanket into and it is super comfy. I can usually find a down blanket cheap at thrift stores, perfect for travelling.

Only costs about $20 too.

u/kogami24 · 2 pointsr/huion

Tablets around this size are quite rare so I guess searching for "14 inch/15 inch laptop hard case" would be a better alternative? Sure it's made for laptops but hopefully they should serve well as any tablet case.

Few results I found are this and this.

u/StiGyDrums · 2 pointsr/macbookpro

Do you mean Sleeve Case? Like this?
[Sleeve Case by Tomtoc 360](Tomtoc 360° Protective Sleeve for 15 Inch MacBook Pro Retina Ultrabook Netbook Tablet, Shockproof, Spill-Resistant, Gray https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HCF15HC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_-OvyybCK5STQ0)

u/mobilesnow · 2 pointsr/Surface

Look's cool, but might be a bit snug. I've gone through 3 different options for the 15" SB2 from recently, and found one that I'm happy with. My goal was minimal (can use it when putting my SB2 in a backpack), inexpensive, not look hideous, and offered decent protection.

This is the one I'm happiest with (Case Logic PAS-215 MacBook Pro 15" Neoprene Sleeve) . It's snug, but not too tight, with maybe 1/8" of space all around. It also has a stretchy zipper pouch on the front that is big enough for the power adapter. Yet, when using the sleeve without the adapter the empty pouch is unobtrusive to me.

This one is SUPER snug, but you can make it fit even with the pen attached if you stretch it while zipping, and put the hinge at the bottom (away from the zipper). I'm not sure how much strain it causes on the SB2, so I wont be using it anymore.

This one (Case Logic 14" Laptop Sleeve) does NOT fit - you can't get the zipper to close all the way no matter what you do.

u/panayiotist · 2 pointsr/Surface

Fits perfectly, uses a magnetic closure, and feels good. Also comes with a small pouch for the matedock and charger and some wire management straps.

u/celticchrys · 2 pointsr/Surface

I received this as a gift, and it is, as the name suggests, snug. It isn't really padded, but it protects against scratches when I carry the device in my bag. It just fits the SP3 and type cover with pen attached to the end. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M31BB5W/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d24_i4?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-1&pf_rd_r=0K043KT06FVGEZH22Q62&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=1970559082&pf_rd_i=desktop

I have been using this since I bought my SB2 15" - Thule Gauntlet 3.0 15"
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R8K9J0M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Y97KAbWB1H82P

Fits the SurfaceBook 2 perfectly sans pen. They make both 13" & 15" versions. It had the best protection out of anything I came across.

u/heyzeus123 · 1 pointr/razer

I recommend the Targus Pro-Tek EVA Laptop Sleeve for 15.6-Inch Dell XPS 15. I got this for my Razer Blade 15.6 Advanced GTX1060 (2018) and fits it perfectly, i.e. snuggly with extra room on the side with ports (see photos on Amazon Customer Reviews). What sold me on this sleeve is the unique stiff ridge along the edge of the sleeve to protect against drops.

https://www.amazon.com/Targus-Pro-Tek-Laptop-15-6-Inch-TSS941US/dp/B01N6NI3ZR

I bought mine on sale directly from the Targus website, but it seems to be discontinued now. But it is still available on the internet, e.g. Amazon from third-party sellers.

u/wowdavers · 1 pointr/razer

Would it be this one by any chance (13-13" one)? https://www.amazon.ca/Inateck-13-13-3-Carrying-Protective-LC1300B/dp/B00XJBCPY6/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1467986464&sr=8-7&keywords=inateck

Awesome, thanks! Do you think it's worth it to get top/bottom skins from dbrand for $60 CAD ($70 after tax) + international shipping?

Edit: Whelp, I just realized dbrand doesn't ship the Razer Blade Stealth skins to Canada... It's not a shipping option.

I like the softer “tank” of the tomtoc cases with the thinner folio case within.

I can carry just the soft case when I don’t need the backpack with everything ... or slide tomtoc into a shoulder bag when needed.

I use the Thule Gauntlet 3.0 Case for my 2019 15” MBP, and although it’s bulky compared to a sleeve, I can put it in my backpack and toss it around freely with no fear of damage.

In addition, I have an Incase Textured Hardshell Case in Woolenex on my MBP. It prevents it from scratches, dings, and looks pretty nice too.

Looking for a hard shell sleeve that I can put an Ipad pro witht he muse case by zugu in. I want to put it in my backpack, but the compartment for my backpack is directly on my back and I am worried about the pressure bending the ipad. The case feels pretty good, but a little added protection would be awesome. My laptop compartment is about 14 inches long by 10 inches wide by 1.5 inches deep. It does seem to have a little give though. Here are the sleeves I am looking at:

Nucawa

Thule Guantlet

Pelican 1070, this is almost perfect, its about 0.2 inches too wide and about 3 inches too long though

Thanks for any advice.

Here's my accessories I prioritized weight and portability. I own the 13 in version

Sleeve
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N0TOQEO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
15 inch fits the 13 inch version nearly perfect. the edges are cushioned and the entire sleeve has the shock cushion bubbles. It also has a little storage pocket, that can fit all of these accessories including the pen's cigar case.

https://www.amazon.com/Thule-Gauntlet-TMPA-115-15-Inch-MacBook/dp/B006DUOMAK
I regret getting this case, not that it's bad, but adds a considerable amount of weight, it's kind of tacky and it's overkill for my everyday travel, and pricey, but it does provide a great deal of protection and you can use it as a stand somewhat and you can store a lot in it.

Stand
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M05SYJL/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Lightweight, portable, folds flat, supports 7 - 17" tablets, sturdy.

Bag

Keyboard
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UBGU4PY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You can use the F1 stuff by pressing fn or something like that.

Adapter
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VTZ7GM0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Other than that I got the thunderbolt 3 cable and card to use it as a cintiq with my desktop

Thunderbolt 3
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AS8U9KE/ref=twister_B01FH7NG8I?_encoding=UTF8&th=1

With that I wish there was a more compact charging cable, maybe the apple USB C wall charger will work and a portable battery. Does anyone know how much power is needed to charge the Mobile Studio? and a good desk arm for this thing.

Here is a useful app if you want to voice control your tablet, but I think it might cause battery drain

> I'm worried that it might not be able to handle everyday roughness. Like dropping my backpack when I get home from class. Do you think it should be okay or would I have to be extra careful?

You should always be extra careful, but just in case, get a sleeve for it. I have this one to carry around in my backpack. I haven't had to test it, but it seems to provide decent protection around the edges. If you're more worried, there are harder cases you can get that are a bit more expensive, but provide much better protection.

> Is it really that bad? Typing on a Logitech G110 right now

I may just be biased against laptop keyboards since I prefer higher profile keys. They keys on this are just kind of flat and don't have a lot of travel distance to them. Really, I'm just comparing it to my other keyboards, which probably isn't fair. Typing on it is fine. It does the job, but the keys still aren't the same quality as a few other laptops I've used. They seem a little thinner than Thinkpads. If you exclusively type on your G110, this may not feel great, but if you're used to chiclet laptop keyboards, you may not notice a difference.

> I could literally see myself while I was using it unless I jacked up the brightness. Does this happen with the Z40?

This happened to me yesterday when I was typing something with a window behind me. It does happen with the screen. But then I turned the brightness up and didn't notice it anymore. You'll just have to be aware of your surroundings.

AmazonBasics 17.3-Inch Laptop Sleeve https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LU7BE20?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I think something like [this] (https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-14-Inch-Laptop-Sleeve-Black/dp/B00CD8AFFW/) should do the job.

You could also get [one with a handle] (https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Ultrabook-Briefcase-Satellite-Chromebook/dp/B00ZGY7OLI/) if you prefer that.

I'm sure there are other options as well if you prefer another color or material.

u/WTFyoukay · 1 pointr/ebikes

i think your overthinking/engineering it :) what size is your laptop? buy a sleeve for it off amazon, toss that into any holding device strapped onto the rack and it'll be fine. a sleeve would be best since they are inherently padded, with hard bumpers(shock absorbers) around the corners/edges. if you strap that foam thing on your rack, then go over a puddle, yuk! it's essentially a big sponge lol. a decent sleeve alone would be enough physical protection for the laptop, throwing that into a bag or backpack and your golden.

u/zachsandberg · 1 pointr/mac

I always get a chuckle when I see Macs with cases like these. I also like protection, but I have one of these and also one of these. I like both, but for you of course, I recommend the latter. Pelican also has thinner laptop cases as well like this guy. You could forget the crazy cover, and actually get something crushproof and waterproof for your Mac, and it will still fit in a backpack (my 1470 case fits in a standard Army assault pack)

Hi I also have a X1C7 and I purchased this laptop sleeve for it. I go it because the display seemed a little flexible to keep it from bending in my backpack. Aswell to keep it from getting scratches.

It is a very rugged case and has so far kept my laptop scratch free.

I have a Thule gauntlet sleeve which I keep my Macbook 15" in whilst it's in my rucksack and have to say I'm very impressed with the build quality. You can use the laptop whilst in the case but this makes getting to the ports a bit trickier and probably affects airflow somebit. Here is a link to it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00R8K9J0M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_VBS1DbQM966QX

I would be confident in saying that they will realise one for the 16".

  • OneNote is your friend, but only the microsoft store version. Too much handwriting will crash the classic windows app version and it's clunkier anyway! I discovered this when they deprecated it earlier this year!

  • Remember to put your surface book into "best performance" when you want to game or do some CUDA work, photo editing, etc. Don't forget to take it out of best performance down to recommended when you're not!

  • The battery should last 2 days of school work in my experience, not really a pointer, but a nice observation.

  • Get used to the different usage modes and don't be scared to change from laptop mode to studio mode frequently. Most of my notetaking is in studio mode (screen flipped upward) and most everything else is laptop mode.

  • Since microsoft abandoned their "Reader" app, the next best free option I've found for basic PDF reading is the Adobe Reader Touch app on the Windows Store.

  • Configure your home screen to your liking. It takes time, but once you do, you'll thank yourself whenever you use the start menu or use it as a tablet!

  • The Surface Book 2 is Hammock Friendly. Get outside, it sure helped me to!

  • Watch the community! Everyone here knows of more tools than I do to streamline your work process!

    EDIT
I highly recommend this guy: https://www.amazon.com/Thule-Gauntlet-MacBook-Retina-3203093/dp/B00R8K9J0M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1527596150&sr=8-1&keywords=thule+15+inch+macbook+pro+case
It's a MacBook Pro case, I know, but it fits even if its a tiny bit tight! I use it daily and its wonderful!

NEITHER - GET THIS ONE

https://www.amazon.com/Tomtoc-Protective-MacBook-Shockproof-Spill-Resistant/dp/B01MSSSBNW/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1525983161&sr=1-3&keywords=tomtoc%2Bmacbook%2Bsleeve&th=1

also made by tomtoc but it offers much more protection. fits like a glove and keeps the corners protected.

I would have easily paid 3 times what this actually cost me when I bought it (16.99)

seriously it's amazing

I bought this tomtoc case, really great all around since it has nice padding and pockets.

I bought this.

When I acquired my MBXP I bought this one and it fitted nicely. However, I was not happy because I don't like "fluffy" (foam) sleeves, so I bought this one and I couldn't be happier with it. Maybe it's not as safe as the foam one, but it takes up less space inside a backpack or a suitcase.

This was what I bought, $65. http://www.ar500armor.com/ar500-armor-backpack-plate.html#.VG5hvsUo7qA

The case was a 14" laptop case : http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004NY9UWI

Hopefully the links work, currently on mobile.

I recently got this one and it works like a charm!! It's solid and very protective. Great price too. My blade 15 fits into it perfectly. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N6NI3ZR?psc=1

In case you're still looking (or in case anyone else stumbles on to this), I'd recommend the Nacuwa Protective Laptop Case Computer Sleeve

I haven't had it too long, but it has really good reviews, is water/shock-proof, and the laptop fits in the case like a glove. It has pockets to store other devices, but whatever you store shouldn't be much thicker than a pen/stylus. Otherwise there's a noticeable bulge in the case, plus there's not really anything to stop the thing you're storing from bumping into the laptop inside the case and breaking that way.

I just got my new 15" Surface Book 2 and I've been looking for a carrying case. I ordered 2 cases and ultimately decided to go with the tomtoc 360°:

I like the AmazonBasics 17.3-Inch Laptop Sleeve it just fits in perfectly :-).

The case looks a little bulky and I'm not sure how I feel about the snap on ones are they easy to take off without damaging the exterior? I'm looking at this one right now it looks pretty good, but uses adhesive.

The sleeve I'm mostly concered with extra padding and shock absorption in case I fall or something. Consider this for a sleeve and probably this bag

I'm a software development student and I take a 1.5 hour bus/train ride downtown so weatherproof, some anti-theft features, and padding are my biggest concerns. I usually use malwarebytes as my goto antivirus on windows is it still a good choice on mac?

Since I'm impatient to get back to biking to work with my laptop, I just grabbed the Pelican 1095 Case. It works fine, but it IS aout twice as thick as it needs to be for this computer. I ended up having to throw in some extra padding to fill the empty space.

I'm using this case for my Dell Chromebook 13. It's a really tight fit but it fits.

It's about the same size as the old 14" macbooks. Maybe try to find a case for one of those on Amazon/eBay? I know they don't make 14" macs anymore so that might be hard to find.

Personally I couldn't find one so I'm using this and it fits pretty good.

Oh, so that's what you meant. See, that's called communication and trying to help out someone who's trying to help you, and not REPEATING YOURSELF IN ALL CAPS.

I've wrapped clothing and other stuff like my hammock quilts and my jacket(s) around my valuables and have had no problems whatsoever--even when rock scrambling. Maybe I'm more careful, or I wrapped by laptop better.

If you don't like the clothing idea, get one of those cheap foam cases like this. It's the same thing you'll find on "laptop" backpacks, just more modular. This is what I would do if I was bringing a laptop for a long duration of time.

You can also go for one of those Pelican cases. But you will be adding several pounds to your bag weight, they are expensive, and they won't perfectly protect your laptop--drops aren't the only thing that break laptop screens. Sometimes screens can be loose in their frame and break due to vibration. Sometimes temperature changes can break screens. Sometimes the user is just rough with the laptop and blame it on the case when they take it out and notice the break.

In all cases, you should be backing up your data and probably have a flashdrive running a lightweight OS like Puppylinux just in case.
