Build this antenna. The isolation transformer is here. 100 ft of common RG-6 is dirt cheap. All the parts you can get from Lowes, Home Depot, Ace, etc.. The Fair-Rite #73 core you can buy from Amazon here. Wire is here. You gonna have to learn to solder - consult YouTube.

Now all you need is an average radio. I have built this antenna and listened to people 6,000 miles away.

I have used magnet wire that I had laying around from RadioShack on al of my builds. Something like this.

It has worked very well and doesn’t cost nearly as much.

you lifted pads on the GBA or the ribbon cable?

if its the ribbon cable i wouldnt mess with it and just leave it at stock brightness (i usually play on this setting anyways)

if its the GBA there are more spots you can solder too but id have to double check with a multi meter and get back to you so i don't give you the wrong locations

id also look at using some thin enamel coated wire like this https://smile.amazon.com/BNTECHGO-AWG-Magnet-Wire-Transformers/dp/B07JBQQR38/

A single wire running across multiple times would be fine for a simple break detect circuit. I have a break detect similar using wire finer than a hair. Though a strong windstorm has broken it before.

They also sell in 40AWG too. Used it an old job to solder opamps to piezoelectric sensors. It's thinner than hair and not nearly as strong either

Honest question here but it might sound a little ridiculous at first... Does it actually have to be wireless? Why not use a thin piece of disposable wire as an antenna that unspools behind the rover as it moves and conducts the wifi signal through it? Something like this 40 gauge copper wire that is over 33,000 ft long and weighs about a pound: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0082CV1KQ/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_i_a8wWDbESQ8FTT

I think you want what is commonly sold as enameled magnet wire and is still at radio shack if you can find one.
The 36 is extremely fine, you may want 28, the insulation is very thin should be about invisible.

Use kynar wire, the insulation withstands heat better, or if you're skilled enough magnet wire, (you can get it from an old coil or cheap headphones wire).
