I'm pretty sure the last few P-Touch tape cassettes I received from Amazon were fakes. Definitely don't stick like the real thing.

> Also the label maker allows a lot of wastage of the tape from both the sides.

No argument there. Even adjusting the hidden setting for margins doesn't eliminate wasted tape.

> these tapes fall off due to mild heat behind the Rack

Tried TZe Extra-Strength Adhesive?

I'm warning you, buddy. Once you've had White on Satin Gold, there's no turning back

There's an iron-on adhesive product called 'Wonder Web' that you can use to take up trousers.

There's plenty of generic brand products that are the same, too!

Source: Have done it myself.

Edit: Amazon Link

Honestly I use brightly colored label tape. It’s meant to be written on and is easy to remove albeit more expensive than I’d like.

Usually something along these lines: ChromaLabel 1 inch Color-Code Labeling Tape | 500 inch Roll (Fluorescent Green)

The only downside is that it reads easily enough that it’s harder to prep 50 of them ahead of time than strips of gaff - but half of the time the 2ND will have done that so I only need to worry about the green tags anyway.

For a vintage build, go with something cool like cinelli: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0084A4J9G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xmaPBbKRGNMND

Or if you want to go all out, get brooks: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000GBQTVW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_9naPBbBNA2EWN

I've started doing something similar for the more expensive (non-electronic) items I sell. I purchased this tamper evident tape and type a unique order # on it, then affix it to the item and take a picture of it, along with the packing slip. Then I send the buyer an email with the order # on it and a copy of the picture.

I also note that this will be done in the actual listing itself.

While none of this is guaranteed to prevent a scammer from trying to pull one over, my hope is that they'll realize I'm going to fight any BS claims and look for something with less hassle.

Definitely more work for me, and not worth it for most of my items - but so far, so good.

We used to order asset tags out, used Maverick label. Great quality for sure, just the requirement to order them out, shipping, limited customizations, screwed if you need to reprint/re-label an asset, etc. Printing our own we have 10+ different templates for different uses and add extra info for different types of devices. Way stronger material than standard label makers. For self printing we now use Brother PT-950NW's - https://www.brother-usa.com/products/PTP950NW with their HGE extra strength adhesive. Use 1/2" width label tape for standard items, larger 1" tape for bigger items.

We get about ~250 asset tags per tape at a cost of $12 per one - https://www.amazon.com/HGES2315PK-Black-White-Extra-Strength-Adhesive/dp/B006X2H4YE/ref=pd_nav_b2b_ab_bia_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=TTBFGKTNX9X9978Q9ECS

Haha, yeah a picture of me turned up on the Seattle Reddit when I was walking to PAX downtown. XD

I actually just bought a voice amplifier this year for my Kylo Ren costume, and it works great with my gas mask! People can now understand me as my voice comes through the speaker very clear, I can't wait to use it at conventions! Here's a link for it in case you want to try it for your mask as well, only $26!

I disassembled my TI 84+ Silver edition, and found a single PCB supported by a gratuitous amount of plastic. If you put one of these on it, I imagine it wouldn't get much better for durability.

We've been using the Brother P-touch labels for years now. I've found that the regular ones were fine for most equipment that didn't get moved or toted around much, but we use the strong adhesive variants on stuff like 1:1 devices, laptops, etc.

Actually, since we started buying that tape, we use it on pretty much everything. We tend to use the white-on-clear tape, because most stuff is dark colored these days, and it shows up well without presenting as much of an obvious target for picking at as the white tape. They make a whole range of the strong adhesive tapes, which all have a TZe-S model number.

If you go that route be sure you're buying the actual Brother labels; the knockoffs and off-brands are largely garbage, and Amazon is full of them these days. (Filtering by brand seems to work. You might also check with your office supply vendor, but Amazon generally beats the prices of ours.)

Only thing that I'd recommend doing differently from us would be to get one of their labelmakers that allows you to hook it up to a computer, which ours doesn't do.

First and foremost, nylon zip-ties, along with a tool to tighten and cut them:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2/261-5150240-1396533?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=cable+tie+tools

You can get adhesive clips to tie cables under a desk:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adjustable-Cable-Clips-Adhesive-Clamps/dp/B01LYO307S/ref=sr_1_6/261-5150240-1396533?ie=UTF8&qid=1540176501&sr=8-6&keywords=cable+clip+adhesive

These 3M Command brand ones are designed to be removed without marring the surface they're stuck on:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Command-17302CLR-Small-Clips-Strips/dp/B0084M696K/ref=sr_1_2/260-9985987-3740648?ie=UTF8&qid=1540177482&sr=8-2&keywords=3m+command+cable+clips

These Velcro brand cable ties on a roll are cheaper and more convenient than the fancier kinds with tabs:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/VELCRO-Brand-One-Wrap-Reusable-Ties/dp/B00186QF2C/ref=sr_1_8/261-9295406-7442635?ie=UTF8&qid=1540176024&sr=8-8&keywords=cable+ties+velcro

If you want to bundle together cables in a sheath, these ones with zippers work better than velcro ones:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Management-JOTO-Computer-Entertainment-Organizer/dp/B015HWXG4M/ref=sr_1_7/261-9295406-7442635?s=diy&ie=UTF8&qid=1540176119&sr=1-7&keywords=cable+zipper

(word or warning: the zippers are not exactly premium YKK or RiRi quality, be careful when engaging them to avoid cross-threading..

For routing cables, these Danish organizers are pretty sweet (not available on Amazon.co.uk for some reason):

https://www.amazon.de/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2/258-3647476-1208213?__mk_de_DE=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=cablox

Generally speaking, it pays to replace power cords, Ethernet cords and the like with shorter versions to avoid having slack cable turn into spaghetti. In the UK, your plugs are so bulky a splitter cable like these makes sense:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss/258-6762083-9871312?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=IEC+power+cord+uk+plug+dual&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3AIEC+power+cord+uk+plug+dual

Finally don't forget to label your cables. This Brother flexible tape works in some of their label makers (you need either a PC-connectable one or one that has software to print labels that can be wrapped around the cable):

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Brother-TZEFX651-TZEFX-651-BLACK-YELLOW/dp/B00WFOQERC/ref=sr_1_4/261-5989537-8091249?ie=UTF8&qid=1540177234&sr=8-4&keywords=TZe-FX651

here is a shot of it in action:

They also have some label makers that will print on heat-shrink tube labels, but obviously that will not work on ready-made patch cables.

I use a Dymo LabelManager 280 and off-brand NineLeaf Tape.

I then print out the label twice, then cut it. I unpeal the backing and then use the sticky sides to stick the label to itself a la the photo below. Occasionally the stickers will slip back and forth but they don't come off.

I'd guess you can probably power it via the USB port.

you could buy this with £10

These are sheets that go in your printer, not in a label maker. Found the link on Amazon. They've dropped in price since I last looked.

Something like this -- https://www.amazon.com/Brother-Fabric-Inch-Iron-Tape/dp/B0055FGLF8

Its iron-on adhesive tape for fabric. I used it when I was adding blackout liner to some curtains years ago and it worked great. They were hanging for years and the tape stayed. I think the downside is that it doesn't really come off easily (unlike a hem), but if what you bought is relatively inexpensive then it's not the biggest deal. I also don't know how it would look with white curtains.
