NTA And the fact that they are acting like such spoiled, entitled little brats is all the proof you need they’ve been stealing. You may want to look into getting a couple of these. When they complain, just let them know you don’t think you can work a combo in your sleep so this should fix the issue.

Commented on a similar topic a couple of days ago, suggested they try this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01KVKMGBE/ref=asc_df_B01KVKMGBE56752019/

That's big enough for the Switch and comes with vent holes to get the cables through, but any lock box you can fit the Switch in should work as long as you're prepared to drill holes for the cables.

Number of the same mini lockers on Amazon

  • Get one of those cheap locker mirrors. When she starts staring, try and line it up to wherever she's looking (probably your face). (Or just start wearing this around her.)
  • Pretend like you are speaking to her in sign language. Or even better, learn some phrases, like:

    • "Stop being rude."
    • "Your hair looks very muddy today." (I'm sorry, I thought I was saying your hair is brown.)
    • "What time is your funeral?" (I was asking what time is the march?) (I looked that one up under signs that are close but not the same.)
  • Treat her like one of those weird paintings whose eyes follow you wherever you go.
  • See how many of these you can get away with. Bonus: Never actually look at her while doing it. You can always pretend like you were joking with that person that just left the room -- sorry you missed them, MIL!

How much money do you have to spend on this project?

The Stack-On are pretty cheap, but admittedly do not have combination locks, but I suspect you could easily add a Combination Padlock and keep the key lock unlocked.

There are a range of School-type Lockers that could be locked with a combination padlock.

I think the CheapLockers link is Australia, but I'm sure similar school lockers are available from other sources. At this point I am simply presenting concepts.

Home Depot actually has a pretty large selection of storage cabinets.

The Amazon link above is a 48" locker for about $87. Do you have guns longer than 48".

For additional security, the Amazon Locker could be bolted or screwed to the floor, or very bolted/screwed to the wall.

If you go to the Stack-On Website and select "Safes and Security", under Lock Type, you can choose Combination Lock -

I suspect the price of these is going to be a bit higher.

Again, how much do you have to spend and how far do you want to take it?

Have HIM purchase the groceries. Purchase your own groceries and keep a lock box if you must to separate the "good stuff" from the cheap foods.

Btw, NTA.

He's acting very selfish and hogging the food. It's not "first come, first served" in a household or a loving relationship. My boyfriend tries to make sure I have the bigger pork chop, and I always give him extra steak. You ideally want a partner that wants more for you, not less.

Idk. Not saying break up but try the fridge lock and the separate groceries for a bit.

Hi, got sent here by the randomizer.

Is cell phones in school that big of a problem?

Where I work, in some areas, cell phones are not permitted. Also not permitted are cameras, anything with recording capability, ipods and fit bit type things, USB flash drives, anything w/ wifi or bluetooth. We have little cubby lockers, just put phone in there:

https://www.amazon.com/Hallowell-Cell-Phone-Tablet-Locker/dp/B00K8WV9ZK

You want to play with your phone, wait til break time and do it outside. Besides, rooms are shielded, phones have no service anyway.

At other locations, it's not just a security issue but a matter of physical safety. In addition to phones and wifi/bluetooth gadgets, key fobs, garage door openers etc, anything that can transmit a signal is not permitted.

It's really not a big deal, you get used to it (I leave it to your imagination as to where I work)

You cant just stash the phones (quarantine) somewhere until after class?

Adulthood means putting up with shitty room mates.

But this might help

I know what you mean. I grew up with two brothers and I found out that they were eating ice cream every day after school and that's why we never had ice cream left for family nights. I started doing the same thing because it was the only way I could get something approaching an equal share. My poor mom had to buy separate sweets for herself that were strictly off limits to the rest of us. Luckily, in our family, leftovers and things bought with your own money and properly claimed were respected, so I started doing the same thing when I got a job.

You need one of these until your husband can learn his lesson.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Bed size--I'm kind of between twin and full at the moment. Strictly speaking, a twin is more than I personally need. As a grown up, I feel like a full is more appropriate for cases where I'm not sleeping alone but honestly I have a small enough footprint that another person probably could share a twin with me.

I definitely think your suggestion is a better look "on paper" than the plan I currently have in my bed (with the L-shaped desk turned 90 degrees "clockwise," having the monitor and keyboard facing the bottom-right corner in reference to the layout you shared), but unless I set something up on a partition like you suggested I wouldn't be able to watch TV from bed which is important to me.

Regarding the divider, though, it's a really intersting idea. The one you listed looks great. This shelf was ~$50 on Amazon last week and I saw similar ones at Lowes for about $70, worst-case, I could do something like that for a similar effect as a divider, maybe?

I should note that with the two closets and a decent storage solution in them, I would probably have enough storage for nearly all of my things. If my 'working on computers' side job starts to produce a lot of clutter, I could move some of it to the outside shed or the attic. So the divider doesn't necessarily need to have incorporated storage. I'll look into cubicle walls, that's a neat idea.

So I'm being made aware of the Top 5 rule, so here we go:

  1. The swivel chair was one of my first and favorite purchases.

Naomi Home Odelia Swivel Rocker Recliner Microfiber/Bright White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077W192G6/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_CRPbDbVXKQ5KM

  2. Did a lot of research on dressers because apparently many of them are very poorly made, ended up finding this Delta dresser on Amazon for cheaper than BBB or Wayfair.

Delta Children Universal 6 Drawer Dresser, White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004FUPWN6/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_FGPbDbR2TZKYS

  3. Can't forget the artwork from the very talented Lena from Bulgaria. Please check out her shop!!

  4. The rug was the second purchase I made, and I purchased an extra thick rug pad for it to make it nice and soft.

Unique Loom Estrella Collection Colorful Abstract Blue Area Rug (8' 0 x 10' 0) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PQMCW5F/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_jdtIDbE80RB75

  5. And lastly, for anyone looking for a smaller bookshelf/toy storage, I really love this last little piece we added to help with organization.

RiverRidge 3-Cubby, 2-Veggie Bin Kids Floor Cabinet, White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NBVQSXS/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_mftIDbTJACYRK

Overall I pieced this room together over the course of almost the entire pregnancy, and a lot of the bigger items were purchased during sales or using coupons, which helped a ton. The smaller touches were found in clearance bins or at Dirt Cheap (i.e. The curtains, jars, mirror, etc).

NTA. You should buy one of these.
