I don’t think even she knows why she gets so upset. Probably a control thing, her being little and feeling like she doesn’t have any.

I’d go for a little bit of distraction and fun.
They have these little Melissa and Doug water paint books for like 3 bucks at most stores, especially drug stores. You just use the water paint brush and then when the water dries, the paint all fades away. The change back to normal, but her knowing she could make the colorful m, beautiful picture again may help!!

I would emphasize the following:

  • Use a brush with a fine tip. For the red lines I used an Army Painter Highlight brush. This allowed me to paint in the recessed area without painting too much on the black panels. I used the same brush’s edge to gently highlight the spokes of the top window.

  • Good lighting. Make sure you’ve got a nice desk lamp close by and brightly shining.

  • To steady your hand I’ll put both elbows on the table. Then with one hand holding the model and the other holding a brush, I’ll touch my wrists together and only then apply my brushstrokes to the model. This will minimize wrist shakiness and is hugely helpful in my experience.

  • Thinned paints. I always add some water to turn my paints from gloopy to milky on my pallet. This means I’ll usually need 2 - 3 coats until I can move on. However this also means mistakes are easier to clean up.

  • Mistakes can always be cleaned up. Don’t get impatient when you accidentally paint outside the lines. Just finish your task, rinse the brush, and cover up your happy little accident with the basecoat.

I’ll add I also love watching the Warhammer TV channel on YouTube. Even though I don’t play that particular game, the company puts out a series of extremely helpful how-to videos that showcase the different techniques used to paint their miniatures. Seeing their videos on painting are what made me realize that mini painting wouldn’t actually be that hard to pick up.

If you have any more specific questions I’d love to help.

My niece is 3 and loves to color along with all of the typical princess stuff. These reusable coloring books are a life saver. Just add water to the pen thing and they go to town, then 10 min later the paper dries and are ready to be colored again.

We just drove from SF to LA with our almost 2 year old, and it was way less awful than I was prepared for. We got several of these (which were the BIGGEST hit) : https://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-Water-Activity-3-Pack/dp/B00CPHX9JK/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1506016783&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=water+wow+melissa+and+doug&psc=1

We also had several of the Melissa and Doug reusable sticker books and downloaded some sesame street on the tablet to use in a pinch. And lots of snacks.

Hope it's smooth travel for you!

When i did a trip with my kid at 18mths old (he is the same will not sleep unless in his bed usually) I had multiple items at the ready and would swap once i saw him loosing interest. Things other than the ipad that he loved, books ( he loves when you read to him), water wow books from Melissa and Doug, I got a monthly pill organizer and filled each little spot with a treat like puffs, cherrios, fruit snacks etc and he would work on opening and closing the little doors to find what was inside ( he was more excited to open and close than actually eat it). I also had his fav stuffed animal, a little bear he could work on buckles etc.
I travelled early in the morning because he is well behaved in the morning. He slept like crap the night before we returned and only the ipad would work ( i got him little headphones we practiced using so as not to annoy others) he watched the ipad for about 30 mins and i noticed he was drifting and i took him out his seat and held him as he slept all the way back ( i actually had him just sit in the airline seat and sent his carseat as baggage, i know having them in the carseat is safer so please don't judge it was what worked best for him)

I keep seeing people sing the praises of these reusable water activity books. I'm planning on getting my niece and nephew them for Christmas.

We flew 2 hrs with a 14 month old. We took favorite books, there are these water coloring activities that he liked, it’s just a brush with water in it that changes the paper to different colors. All else failed we went to CoCo that we downloaded through Netflix and is the only bit of TV he cares for so far.

Good luck and we were flying to destin Florida so we had a bunch of children all ages on there so any noise was fine. Weirdly our child was super chill the whole time.

i travel a lot with two young kids. i always bring books to read with complex pictures. the ones i use are german...so perhaps not best for your purposes. melissa and doug have some really neat "colour with water" books

and then gold fish. friggin' gold fish, my kids never get them unless we're doing a road trip...i think they put cocaine in those things

We've done 6 flights over the past 4 weeks with our 19/20 mo old. Favorite things by far were Water Wow Melissa and Doug activities
and travel Aquadoodle.

You could do a leap frog if their parents are ok with electronics. It’s a learning system that is neat for a traveling toddler. A kindle fire is also a possibility.

If they don’t like the electronics but you want travel items the reusable color books (https://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-Reusable-Water-Reveal-Activity/dp/B01K76FH8Q?keywords=reusable+coloring+book&qid=1537449358&sr=8-1&ref=mp_s_a_1_1) are really neat. My niece loves those. They don’t make a mess and are easy to pack.

Check these out for your flight. No mess and you can reuse them :) good for the little ones before actual coloring.

Sticker books, magentic blocks/puzzles, if he's not in the middle seat, he might like playing with those window clings gel decorations! Good old snack cups with interesting treats that you can eat one by one. Music and my toddler also like the podcast Ear Snacks.

1) It wasn't "just a guy" drawing a spiral.

'I don't really have answer to how long each drawing took but the whole project took us many months.

'Personally, my favourite is Mona Lisa as it was the piece we started doing first.

'All three pieces were hard work but I worked with a team which really helped. We solved problems we had together and it was great fun.'

2) If you wanted to recreate this in a similar but not same fashion could you not pre-treat the paper with something? Fuck, I don't know maybe destroy and rebuild a printer to print with lemon juice or something to create channels and ridges on paper, sort of like the old water on the brush technique used for kids "painting" books where the paint is already in the page but released by water?

u/carsknivesbeer · 0 pointsr/Shitty_Car_Mods

It's not camo. Remember those weird splatter paint things that spun around and you dropped paint on them? Found it http://www.amazon.com/Cra-Art-Magic-SpinningMachine/dp/B0037UV0RM. Real shitty.
