Hey, you should try making these on shrinky dinks! I was about to do this for my party actually! Basically you draw/print whatever you want on this special paper, cut it out and put it in the oven.... and it shrinks and turns into this thick hard acrylic material!

The "Carry on my Wayward Son" part sort of looks like it may have been written on this type of shrinking plastic. If you want, you could pick some up on Amazon or at your local craft store and easily replace that charm.

For those who might not know:

Shrinkydinks was a popular children's toy in the 1970s and early 80s. Plastic sheets can be drawn on with colored pencils, pens, markers, cut out and baked in an oven. They shrink by about 50% and thicken, forming a heavy plastic. By drawing on them beforehand, the coloring gets more dense and vibrant, and the "blank" areas of the plastic become white. It's very durable once it shrinks.

When i did a trip with my kid at 18mths old (he is the same will not sleep unless in his bed usually) I had multiple items at the ready and would swap once i saw him loosing interest. Things other than the ipad that he loved, books ( he loves when you read to him), water wow books from Melissa and Doug, I got a monthly pill organizer and filled each little spot with a treat like puffs, cherrios, fruit snacks etc and he would work on opening and closing the little doors to find what was inside ( he was more excited to open and close than actually eat it). I also had his fav stuffed animal, a little bear he could work on buckles etc.
I travelled early in the morning because he is well behaved in the morning. He slept like crap the night before we returned and only the ipad would work ( i got him little headphones we practiced using so as not to annoy others) he watched the ipad for about 30 mins and i noticed he was drifting and i took him out his seat and held him as he slept all the way back ( i actually had him just sit in the airline seat and sent his carseat as baggage, i know having them in the carseat is safer so please don't judge it was what worked best for him)

Color on a Shrinky Dink Sheet, using bold lines (I like Sharpie), and colored pencil, and cut it out.

Make sure you draw it big enough, they'll shrink to 1/3 of their size in area after you bake them, and will thicken up considerably.

If you aren't yet 18 I can't condone getting into vaping regardless of if you are using 0 nic or not. At the core of it you are inhaling substances that still has not been fully researched and the long term impact of using is not fully understood. I won't go into how you go from being a child to an adult overnight when you turn 18 but 18 is what we all are stuck with as being the age in which you can use these types of products.

That all being said if you suffer from severe anxiety and clinical level (or any for that matter) depression you need to seek professional help. I say this with all seriousness. These are diseases and need treatment. Whether that means cognitive or talk therapy or medication or herbal/alternative treatment. Please take it from someone who knows. You've taken an important first step in recognizing you have a problem so please take then next important step and ask for help.

I love vaping. It helped me quit cigarettes after my first vape. And currently I don't see myself stopping any time soon. However, would I vape if I had never smoked? Probably not, in fact most likely not.

I really like the Grimm's toys. They are kind of expensive, but super cool for kids to stack and build, organize by size/shape/color, and they are made out of wood which is a nice different texture than all the plastic toys kids have. My 4 year old son loves playing with all his Grimm's stuff. We have the large rainbow, some of the little peg people, the trees, fairy houses, and some blocks. I would also suggest kinetic sand, play silks and costumes, a rocker board, and water beads. All the above are great sensory toys and are big hits with kids with or without autism!

Here's an idea: get crafty! With arts and crafts, that is, where you're only limited by your imagination (and money and time too I suppose...)

Buy a generic back pack and decorate it with pins and patches and iron-ons and dangly doo-hickies all that you can make (or order online) yourself! Seriously, it doesn't take much to get one of those button-makers. It'll come in handy later when your little filly gets a bit older and runs for student council, amiright?

You can buy iron-on stuff at almost any large retailer or hobby/crafts store. Try something compatible with your home printer and see how that works.

Patches are a little bit more complicated but still within reach. You can design your own and have them created by companies over the internet. Most of them offer iron-on backing for a little extra, and it doesn't take much to add a little extra stitching for added security. Most of the time all you need is a vector image and those are easy enough to find. Typically you're limited to a 3" x 3" square. Another catch too is you'll probably have to order a half dozen or so, which is okay too if your daughter has friends to share with.

If you're feeling adventurous, try stencil-making! Buy those little blind-bag toys and attach key ring loops on them. Search the internet for toys and trinkets to hang off of the bag. These are all fun creative learning experiences that you can share together. This is also her back pack and it can be a canvass for self-expression. I haven't met a girl yet that didn't want to express herself. Buy her a good quality pack and it'll last a lot longer than any average plastic Wal-Mart bag. It might not be an official product, but when has that been an issue for this community? If you need help, well, that's what we're here for. She can invest a little bit of herself into making it and maybe she'll care about it all that much more (or maybe I'm just being sickeningly optimistic. It's just a back pack after all...)

If I've learned anything from the DIY Channel, it's that all you need is a hot glue gun and a heaping helping of ambition! Good times. Now get out there and make an awesome back pack and report back with pictures!

No, that's a more basic set. This one looks more like the one in the picture.

Edit: Also, this set is more intricate, and has smaller parts that are easier to lose, and are a choking hazard. It has track pieces for the outer ring that can snap together to make many shapes, but that means this one might be more delicate.

Kinetic sand is just sand mixed with polymer, so it is fun to form and it sticks to itself, so it doesn't get everywhere. It is mesmerizing...

The resonance makes the pattern start and end with them in the same point every 8 earth years/13 venus years, after which it repeats. 8 years from today, Earth and Venus will be in the same spots relative to the sun as they are right now. If they weren't resonant, that wouldn't happen.

But they aren't exactly resonant, so if the simulation continued for another 8 year cycle, the next pattern would look the same but be a teensy bit offset from the previous one. If they were perfectly resonant, then the pattern would draw right on top of itself for the next cycle.

If that's not enough, I dunno man, buy a spirograph.

Nope, not for decent stuff. We've bought three times because we have a small sand table on our porch (so it lives outside uncovered) but after a couple months our three year old has lost half of it through the floor. Twice it's been perfect like this and doesn't change, one brand was crap but it was crap from day one. Oddly, he liked it at least as much, it just wouldn't hold shapes well. Anyway, all three were different brands from Amazon so if there's differences it seems to be more who made it than changes over time.

Maybe it's outdated where you live and for a 14 yo, but I bough a badge maker to my sister a couple years ago. And she loved it ! You can put whatever message or picture you want, offer them to your friends, etc.

You could offer her a mini tech lab (to do make up, or just cool stuffs).

Check these out for your flight. No mess and you can reuse them :) good for the little ones before actual coloring.

My daughter is 6! She likes Legos and Lego video games. Does your daughter have any consoles? You said she is getting in to video games. I can recommend Lego Harry Potter and the Lego The Movie video game. Spring is coming. Does she like birds? She might like a set of binoculars and this bird book. My daughter has that book and loves trying to find all of the birds listed in our area. Peeler beads are something your two girls can do together. They might also like a spin art machine.
