If this is how shortboarders see us I can pretty well understand the hate.

Upper/Luxury End ($1600): Boosted Rev

Midlevel ($769): Segway Ninebot

Lower End ($379): Xiomi Mi Electric Scooter

I have a friend who has the Segway and loves it. The Xiomi's are good from what I've heard. They're the exact scooters used by most of the major ride share scooters like Lime and Bird if you've ever tried those. Also heard really positive reviews for the Boosted, but... $1600.

I don't think you'll find any actual counterfeits on Amazon. They probably just mean don't buy something like this.

I'm guessing they don't sell on Amazon because the margins would suck. The suggestion about cashing out your Amazon credit to a gift card was a good one.

u/PhoenixFTC ¡ 4 pointsr/FTC

The Andymark charger which you have linked is an Lead Acid type charger (car battery). Which is not be used with NiMH batteries which are the Tetrix batteries that you use. You should be looking for a multi bank NiMH smart (balance) charging station. Something like: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HB6VF5Y?psc=1 Would work very well. Keep in mind with no matter what you get, you will need to put your own Anderson PowerPoles on the ends of the charging cables.

u/IOVERCALLHISTIOCYTES ¡ 3 pointsr/tall

i use one of these. My arms are fairly proportional. The weight limit is 220, I'm 225 or so, and my bag is usually a few pounds. I've got a few hundred miles on mine with rough sidewalks, no problems.

The tall ones are taller, sure, but this hasn't been bad, and is substantially cheaper. Had intended to use this for feasibility with the idea I'd probably just break it and then buy a better one, but I haven't felt the need to change. Just bend your plant leg a little bit more-you have to anyways to kick, and it'll drop your wind resistance a little. Size 13 shoe here, the deck fits mine but past size...15? it might get a little cramped.

EDIT: Other guy mentioned Xootr, see also these I'd considered:

Hey there you are, I was hoping you'd see my thread since I knew you had experience with other chargers. :)

I now have 4 ways of charging the hopper's batteries, and 3 of those methods involve constant current. The hopper charger is the only one that dances around all over the place.

3 other chargers I have (in no particular order)

  1. Nitecore F1 - Charges at a constant 1 amp
  2. XTAR MC1 - Charges at a constant .5 amp
  3. Olight UC - Charges at a constant .75 amp

I'm going to contact hopper labs and see if they'll provide some insight on this. Perhaps these batteries are designed for variable charging? I'm no expert on the matter, but constant amperage/voltage seems like a more normal method of charging batteries. Every lithium battery I've ever charged has been that way.
u/fixITman1911 ¡ 3 pointsr/FTC

Don't do that, get a smart charger instead. I'll link the one I have in a little bit.

I have this one

and I am looking at getting this one

Both of these also have one extra really cool feature, you can power them with DC OR AC, this means, you could put a DC battery (i.e. car battery) on your cart, and recharge your robot batteries on the move.

This one, it's simple and basic, does everything a scooter does, and can fold up pretty compact for taking into lectures/classes.

u/nifty150 ¡ 2 pointsr/ebikes

here is one I found on amazon for fairly cheap.

Ordered from Amazon.

The MegaWheels S1 may not support your weight very well. I think it has a recommended cut-off weight of about 150lbs.

It's not a bad little scooter if you're just travelling 2-3 miles on smooth roads and if you don't weigh much. It's perfect for someone just wanting to get around campus. Folds quickly and easily. It's going to get loose really quickly around the folding mech/front wheel, but that's normal. It's pretty tough, just don't go off curbs and be very careful of potholes. It has very small wheels. It's not really in the same class of scooter that's a few hundred more, but it might serve your purpose. You're probably only going to get about 7-10mph and about 3-4 miles range. So, take your charger with you.

Xprit makes a somewhat decent scooter for around $265. But, you might want to look for a deal on a Xiaomi m365 or maybe a clone of it.

This is what the Xprit scooter looks like, but this one is the same scooter by a different company. So if you search eBay for Xprit scooter, just look for the one that looks like this (it's the same thing, only without built in speakers).

There's also the Swagtron (but it has issues, read the reviews)...

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F45HL7M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1csmDbCF7XMQV

Depending on your needs I think you'd be better off saving your money and getting a scooter that's around $350-$650.

u/zerocoldx911 ¡ 1 pointr/ElectricScooters

It seems like buyers disagree based on the amount of bad reviews https://www.amazon.com/Swagtron-Electric-Scooter-Cushioned-Portable/product-reviews/B07F45HL7M/

There are always Electric Scooters. I recently got an ES2 for less than $500 on Amazon. No more pedaling for me.

You would need more of an ES4 though for the range but still cheap as fuck, you can get it for $650 right now deliver to you tomorrow.

I use this on a couple of mine. Pull the straps tight enough and you can fit 5-10lbs without too much worry. I just keep basics like cables, tools, and then use it to maybe put a sandwich or something in if I run to grab some lunch.

I like that it is relatively stiff compared to the cloth carriers (not completely hard like plastic), so it stays completely still up to 50mph without flapping around even when empty.

u/basicgoats ¡ 1 pointr/kickscooter

The handlebars are ~36cm (14.17 inches) wide. The bar height is like 91cm (35.8 inches), the deck height is like 7.5 cm (3 inches), deck length is 12 cm (4.7 inches). I'm not too sure how to measure this, but the usable space on the deck seems to be about 35 cm (13.78 inches). My measuring tape I got from europe and only has centimeters, so approximated when converting.

I doubt the bearings are good, as it was only $40, the wheels are 200 cm allegedly, and all that jazz.

I also see this one online: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F9JNH92/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_-VsNDb17JFPWF

I like that it has shocks, but will that make any real difference? I mainly want something which will maximize the efficiency per kick, not rattle and shake on less smooth asphalt, is big enough for a 5'10" and 145 lb guy.

What I like about the hudora 205 is the price and look, and that it seems easy to carry with the strap. The Hikole looks great because of the shocks and better bearings. The razor a6 looks nice because I know the brand, and it seems bigger. What do you think?

u/Slayblaze ¡ 1 pointr/ElectricScooters

>Hover-1 rally

Most likely this one - also Best Buy carries them: https://www.amazon.com/Hover-1-Rally-Folding-Electric-Scooter/dp/B07RTCVLKT

u/matt314159 ¡ 1 pointr/ElectricScooters

After doing some research on the ones that /u/jaguar007st noted, I ruled out the FS06X (tiny, solid wheels) and almost went with the Macwheel MX-1. There's more reviews of that one floating around. it seems to use the same exact chassis and frame of the m365 but with a 350w motor, foam-filled tires (the m365 is a PAIN to change tubes on apparently) and a better folding mechanism. And at $379 it seems like quite the bargain.

In the end, I went ahead and ordered the Levy. The $500 gift card was free--I was compensated for getting bumped off an overbooked delta flight and rebooked to one that was a few hours later) so I'm feeling a little bit more like I don't have a lot to lose. When comparing the Levy to the MX-1, I went with the one that has swappable batteries. There will probably always be a better one that I could have picked, but this will be a good starter scooter for me, I think. If I use it enough, maybe I'll pop for a better one come tax refund time next year.

Many of scooters sold on alibaba exactly the same design as xiaomis scooters. They are other Chinese manufacturers ripping off xiaomi. At least that what I understand. Here's an example of someone slapping there own brand on alibaba scooters. Exact same design as xiaomis scooters. https://www.amazon.com/Macwheel-Long-Range-Non-Pneumatic-Commuting-Motorized/dp/B07MWBD9BV/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?crid=1GFTBCK7SR5Q1&keywords=electric+scooter&qid=1554858679&s=gateway&sprefix=Electric+s&sr=8-6

search ebay for my first set. just got these

https://www.amazon.com/Yifant-Modified-Electric-Accessories-Replacement/dp/B07QQ1QMHB

i use bicycle tireliner in them for punctures

u/mister_scoot_scoot ¡ 1 pointr/ElectricScooters

I bought these:

Yifant Outer Tubes 10 x 2 Pack of... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QQ1QMHB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

They fit ok and are decent as far as build quality. They are 35 psi, which is the highest I found in that size. Even 35 psi feels too bouncy.

But the reason I took them off my m365 is it isn’t powerful enough, even with modifying the firmware to up the power. I could have been more aggressive with the power modification, but I don’t think it would end up as fast as my m365 with regular tires, running at a lower power.

If you do it, don’t expect it to be a big upgrade in terms of performance.

There aren’t many 156mm tires available in the US but I have seen them on eBay. I have also seen some 10” solid tires with the holes drilled in them on eBay.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A6Q9Y0E seems to be the real deal. Shows the security code sticker in the pictures. If it shows up without the sticker, just return it on Amazon's dime.

I've bought 2 of these from seller DCDEAL (see other sellers on the right) when they shipped from the US. Both were genuine. Now they only ship from China, but it should still be the genuine article.

EDIT: Oops.. Missed the AC part of your part number. Still, though, look for the security sticker.

Ah okay. Well I would suggest one of these:

The big wheels are very helpful for bumps and cracks in the sidewalk.

Xootrs are rated at a max of 800lbs. The Hudora 230 is rated at 265lbs.

u/masterkenobi ¡ 1 pointr/AskNYC

I ended up getting the Hudora 230 which I like a lot. It folds up pretty well, and super sturdy:

I do ride it in the bike lane, and I'm pretty much riding the same speed as average paced bicycles.

A couple of small questions:

Helmet speakers? Are they legal?

And, those tiny little electric scooters (like this ) Are they legal to ride on roads? Pavements?

u/A13XR3 ¡ 1 pointr/ElectricSkateboarding

Check the amperage of your charger, says it on the back. Buy the same amps, it needs to be a 42V charger.

I'm not sure if you mean the connectors? The ones on the left are called ring terminals, and the ones on the right I'm not positive but I found varying results by searching for "2-pin connector." Here's a link to one that looks like it might fit in those. Hope it helps :)

Edit: Also found this amazon link which looks exactly like the product you have. Might be some info there?

Edit 2: so upon even further inspection that whole unit is called a controller and is kind of like the ecu for the go kart. It has cables for the battery, the motor, the ignition and the throttle, brake lights, etc.

I thought I was posting to the main thread, my mistake. This is what I was referring to. It seems like this would handle the playa much more efficiently that a "hoverboard", but still just a fun item.

Considering one can get a squished hoverboard for a third the price of a pint, you're not wrong.
