I don't know why, but they seem to hurt more as you get older, too.

I bought one of these years ago. If you're a sebaceous person, it's a must. Keep it clean, as your skin is covered in staph bacteria.

Just throwing this little review tidbit out there. I recently got a tanda zap, which is a little UV light device you can use for pimples. For the past year or so I have had mild acne, mainly on my cheeks, a lot cystic pimples that scar. I started using the tanda zap a couple of weeks ago on these pimples and I don't really use it anymore, because I have nothing to use it on.

I don't know if my skin is just maturing or going through a nice phase but since I started using the zap I have much clearer skin. When I did use it on pimples (you generally have to catch them early) they would usually die after 2 light treatments and fade faster than if I had not used it. I wouldn't use it as the go to solution for anything more than mild acne but it would certainly be a nice supplement treatment.

u/kitcat479 · 13 pointsr/Naturalhair

So i posted this in another thread but here goes. I have 3c/4a high porosity hair. On a good day my hair looks well moisturized and has great curl definition. On bad days my hair is as dry as the Arizona desert wildfire bushes and poofy. The holy grail for me has actually been using my hair steamer that I got from amazon

https://www.amazon.com/KINGDOMCARES-Large-Hair-Facial-Steamer/dp/B0719BB846/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?keywords=hair+steamer&qid=1561845415&s=gateway&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1

My curls stay clumped together and always look amazing and I use it once a week on wash days. I simply add conditioner to my hair and two strand twist and sit under this with a shower cap and then immediately follow up with a hot oil treatment and my curls have begun to slightly weight down more because of the moisture in them, my hair has never had that glossy, shiny look until I started using this once a week.

I prefer a pair of stainless steel scissors like these. They're more BIFL than anything with an electric motor.

EDIT-I didn't realize this item is not motorized.

I fell in love with this tool the first time I used it. The smaller end is what I use. Also you might want to brush your tongue when you brush your teeth and gargle your mouthwash it will help the stones from building up to fast.

Cleansing Brush System Question ahead:

Hello! my wife hinted that she wanted this product

https://www.amazon.com/Clarisonic-Sonic-Facial-Cleansing-System/dp/B00O4XROFS/ref=zg_bs_7792503011_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=EKAN9EZB792A4Q31E61W

Its a bit out of our budget, so i searched and found this as the best seller for the High Frequency Facial Machines Category:

https://www.amazon.com/Essential-Skin-Solutions-Exfoliating-Microdermabrasion/dp/B00PYK2UI6/ref=zg_bs_7792503011_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=EKAN9EZB792A4Q31E61W

Also found this #1 best seller, and it seems to be the same type of item, but its on a different category (Galvanic Facial Machines)

https://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Electric-Facial-Cleansing-Handle/dp/B01GSP1QIA/ref=zg_bs_7792502011_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=VMF74AEMVJE16SBW5YNY

Basically which is the best option? im absolutely clueless when it comes to this kind of stuff, so i came here to ask the pros.... Maybe one that isnt listed here is better? or is there a real worthwhile difference between the $169 vs the $39 one???

Any help will be appreciated! thanks!

Looks very much like a splinter. Run warm water over it for two minutes and then try using this tool in conjunction with tweezers to see if it comes out

They are usually called "skin tools" :)

Ignore bad reviews. I have one of those that's over 10 years old, no complaints.

Just be sure to press firmly and "draw a line through" whatever spot you're tackling (don't try to dig in or press directly onto it).

For added fun, grip your nose side to side, and firmly drag the flat tool down and across in long strokes. So. Much. Unexpected. Pus.

If you have ingrown hairs, pluck them out first.

If you have the kind of "whiteheads" that are cysts, the kind that scab over, 3-5mm diameter, and if (let's be honest, when) you pick the scab, you can see a whole cluster of white specks (infected hair follicles), try to pluck out accessible hairs and consider running the tool diagonally like this \ a few times (to cover the whole area) then diagonally like this / (again, a few parallel paths) and that should clear most of the horror.

(These moments are usually accompanied by bleeding, but if you use something simple like non-fancy witchhazel to clean it off then you'll have a bit of stinging then hopefully slow the blood as well as avoiding (re)infection)

u/HobGadlingson · 5 pointsr/funny

Folks. Get a pimple lancet. It’s about ten bucks, and saves me so much time and pain. Use the loop side 10 times more often than the pointy side. In fact, avoid the pointy side forever, if you can. Sterilize both sides with alcohol before and after every use.

Are you talking about these? I remember a version of them came with Clean & Clear face washes.

I also love Korean bath mitts. Forgot to mention.

I keep my konjac sponge in a jar in the fridge to mitigate the ick factor. I felt really uncomfortable with it hanging precariously in my bathroom. The tuber itself is said to have antibacterial properties, so I'm ok with using it and replacing every few months if it's not in a bacteria-rife environment.

There are some stainless steel tools she can use the extract the sebum, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Professional-Blackhead-Remover-Blemish-Extractor/dp/B01N2XZR36#

It also helps to exfoliate the face 2-3 times a week to clear out dead skincells, and also do it after a warm bath when the pores are nice and open.

You've also got several types of masks that can be applied and they harden up, and when peeled off they take the gunk amd blackheads with them. And also nose pore strips. You can find these readily available at any drugstore or beauty shop.

2 experiences. 1st was during a facial, the esthetician made a small hole in the skin with a lancet and pressed it out. Excellent results, no scarring, no blood. Not everyone is qualified to do this, apparently. It's determined by state licensing laws.

2nd, NOT RECOMMENDED!, my dermatologist wouldn't remove them (wtf?) and said they'd eventually go away on their own, particularly if I rubbed them regularly (liar!). So after months of rubbing and no fewer milia, I did it myself with sharp tweezers to poke the hole and pressed it out with a comedone extractor. Ok results. No scarring but I did have a small bruise from pressing and poking too hard.

Next time I would use a tool like this to make the hole instead of tweezers. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004UO67OU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_0Qu2Bb9FT61VD

Acne is the WORST. Mine definitely contributed to depression too before I found something that worked for me (spironolactone, which I will have to quit with my BC).

One pregnancy-safe thing that has really worked for me and cystic acne (along with the normal kind) is light therapy. I have a Tanda Zap that works really well for spot treatments, but you may want to try a full-face mask. They are a bit expensive, but it could truly help. Even a few sessions in a tanning bed on a light setting could help your body acne - UV light is recommended for eczema too!

u/sadstarfish · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I rotate between konjac sponge (Missha), [these] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BSU7H5W?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00) face brushes that are cheap knockoffs of the Tosowoong and work amazingly well, and sillicone pad (I got mine from Sephora years ago but you can get a cheaper one from Diaso). Mostly I rotate because it takes forever for the latter two to dry, sometimes longer than a day, and I'm not comfortable with leaving them perpetually damp because of the risk of bacteria/mold. Of the three, I've found the konjac sponge to be the gentlest, then the brush, then the silicone pad. I like using the brush the best and the konjac sponge the least, because I don't like way the konjac sponge foams up into a thin, watery foam rather than a lush luxurious one. The silicone pad is easy when you're in a rush or when traveling because it doesn't need time to dry.

I actually have tried this! I didn't know anyone else had heard of drawing salve, haha. I thought it was something only my mom believed in. It had absolutely no effect on my cystic acne whatsoever. This is the exact product I tried.

The two things I've found to be most effective on my cystic acne have been using a sulfur clay mask as an overnight spot treatment (I use the Murad one but lots of people here love the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask) and this thing. Depending on where you get pimples, cystic acne is also frequently a hormonal thing, so if you don't have much success treating it with topicals then it might be worth talking to your doctor! For a lot of girls just going on birth control (or switching birth controls) can help a lot.

I actually got a tool from target a while ago that looks like this and works extremely well for the inside-the-ear zits.

u/heyyrachelheyy · 2 pointsr/lips

There are lip plumpers out there. You might want to order them online. I have one that is a lipgloss (Buxom). However, after it is done plumping, I wipe it off and apply chapstick or lipstick. If you don't want lipgloss, you can always rub a few drops of peppermint oil on your lips. That is a natural plumper. There are also chapsticks with bee venom. That plumps lips. Check out some of these other tools.

Bro, I'm sorry man but like, how ISN'T this like decorating a Christmas tree? You've got fairy lights and baubles. Wut?! Doesn't your room just look like one of those prostitute windows from outside like what they used to do in the old days? You know, covering the light bulb in something red so you could tell where the prostitutes where...

Dafuq man, I don't understand how this would help with GAMING immersion? Like.. unless it somehow syncs with the the game? I couldn't see me being extra immersed in Outlast with my room glowing like the insides of a My Little Pony.

You need a pair of nose hair scissors with rounded tips.

Don't pluck nose hairs, EVER, as the hairs can become ingrown, get infected, and hurt like the dickens. The chin hairs can become ingrown too, but won't be as difficult to reach. Shaving is better as it leaves enough hair outside the skin to keep from becoming ingrown.

And don't share personal grooming items, the bacteria in nostrils is pretty bad and can cause eye infections if your sister is using the same tweezers and touches her eyes. Etc., etc., yes, I am a mum. Sorry, just trying to help :)

u/farmgirlfromscratch · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

You may be able to incorporate s silicone face massager like these .

Im a lot older than you and my skin is easily over exfoliated. I use these scrubbers a few times a week with a light massaging touch-- not a strong exfoliating pressure/ touch.

I had horrible skin as a teen and my derm wouldn't prescribe anything for it (very small town, older almost retired doc, and he only prescribed accutane for the absolutely worst of the worst cases)

He had me washing my face with undiluted betadine twice a day and using retin a twice a day and spot treating with benzoyl peroxide/ strides pads. No sunscreen required/ recommended.

I did this for 3.5 years of high school. I played 3 sports competitively and I was outside virtually year round in the sun. How I haven't contracted melanoma or look like a dried up husk from sun damage I'll never know.

Looking back through the lens of experience I think now a lot of acne issues were due to a compromised moisture barrier. I didn't have cystic acne. I had lots of surface pimples and of course discoloration. I was also a picker which made them worse.

Since we have different skin types I can't really recommend products to heal your moisture barrier. I also have 0 experience with differin.

I'm sure the lovely members of this community have posted ideas and routines for differin and healing a moisture barrier for your skin type.

I've used unrefined coconut oil, evening primrose oil, argan oil, shea butter, very high quality olive oil (sold in bottles smaller than a wine bottle), and lanolin for years with no ill effects. Everyone's skin is different and you will need to use your powers of observation & recording those observations to learn what works for you.

Skin changes don't happen over night. I need about 6 weeks to heal my most recent moisture barrier problem.

I know it's stressful dealing with skin issues. It goes get better I promise.

I use this
http://www.amazon.com/Tweezerman-Stainless-Steel-Facial-Scissors/dp/B000EMYHBM
I really like it, the rounded tips are comfortable, from how wide the metal of the klipette looks, i think it may cut closer to the skin as well.

I bought a device that emits a specific light that kills the bacteria under your skin. It's amazing. I wasn't sure that it would work but I bought it and it is incredible how it clears up my break-outs. I highly recommend it. I got this one on amazon.

i've been using it for a few weeks now. i usually do OCM, but sometimes use it after my mineral oil massage in the shower. i also use it when i've been wearing makeup and want to double cleanse (i don't wear makeup everyday.) i REALLY like it. i bought [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000W3WP1W/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and i use it with [this] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050GPSW4/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to get it nice and frothy. i don't find it drying at all and i have pretty dry skin.

Stop playing the victim. I'm not the one trying to kill the discussion. I've told you exactly why your argument(s) have no merit, such that you could potentially remedy the flaws in your argument(s). Instead you're killing any discussion and trying to put the blame on me. Grow the fuck up. Your argument was worth shit, you can't back it up with any substance and now you're playing the victim. Your translation should read "I (dave1233345) give up because I realise that I can't logically justify my opinions because they're based on gut feeling rather than any evidence". Again, feel free to justify your views with sources and prove me wrong.

TANDA Clear LED Acne light kit and Foreo LUNA mini silicone scrub pad
Skin type. Combination oily, large pores, minor acne scars on cheeks and jawline, whiteheads/blackheads
Current routine: Morning wash face with boscia detox black cleanser (it's got charcoal and warms to your touch), mario badescu buttermilk moisturizer;
Afternoon, wash face with the cleanser
Evening, wash face, moisturize, and use Clarins extra firming eye wrinkle cream just under the eye bags
Every couple days I would use a textured facial scrub pad (looks like a regular cotton pad) on my skin with the cleanser, after my 9 hour work day
I use a glycolic peel mask once a week or every two weeks, when I remember

I haven't used the TANDA LED lights for 2 years, but I keep thinking I should use them, since it sits in my closet looking sad :( I used to use it on my face every week, but with no results. Anyone used LED lights at a spa or elsewhere and got results for acne scars? I even tried actual spas and did LEDs there, but I didn't feel a difference. I wasn't using it everyday like I should though. http://www.amazon.com/TANDA-Professional-Clearing-Solution-Device/dp/B005X6M7JS

I'm also thinking of adding a more substantial silicone scrub pad for my sensitive skin. I'm not super sensitive, but I used CLARISONIC and it just ended up scrubbing my skin off and irritating it, all without reducing my blackheads on my nose. I like using the cotton or synthetic fiber pads to scrub my face, but I wonder if there's anything better I can use to exfoliate my face without making me break out?? I saw the Foreo and it looks awesome, but for $99 I need to be sure! http://www.sephora.com/luna-mini-P387258?skuId=1633643&icid2=product_similar%20products_tools%20&%20brushes:high%20tech%20tools:cleansing%20brushes_p387258_image

Try using a silicone scrub brush with you face wash. It will gently exfoliate your skin and make the skin cells turn over faster which should improve the texture of your skin.
