[This] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TUZSMU/ref=oh_details_o00_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) is the single best sleep mask I've used. I find it very difficult to sleep with light, and this right here stops that issue without impeding my breathing, or being uncomfortable. It's like 8 bucks too.

u/FoxJitter · 8 pointsr/lifehacks

I've had really good luck with the Lonfrote Deep Molded Sleep Mask coupled with the Pzizz app.

I've gotten into the habit of regularly taking naps with the combination of these two things. That way, when I'm put in a position such as traveling or camping where I might have some difficulty getting to sleep, my body has adjusted to the mask and Pzizz and they serve me well.

  • I highly recommend getting an Eye Mask, and taking some time to close your eyes, put on the mask and dive deep inside yourself. Music is optional, it can be good, but it's not necessary. Most people really obsess over the Open Eye Hallucinations, but it's when you close your eyes, relax and dive inside yourself, that the true learning takes place.
  • I heard a quote recently that says, "That which you reject, persists." The idea being, not to try and resist or run away from anything. If the experience is taking you down a path of thoughts you normally don't like to think about, don't avoid it, it will make it worse. Instead, embrace it. Give those thoughts a hug, and see what you can learn from going down that path.
  • I would prioritize your day so that you don't have any demanding obligations. I would recommend turning your phone on airplane mode and turn off all notifications. Unplug as much as you're able.
  • There may be times during your experience where you are caught in a "Negative Thought Loop". In these situations, try changing your surroundings. Get up and move, change the music, do something different, and your thoughts and experience will change as well.
  • Other's have mentioned this, and I want to echo the importance of taking notes. Sometimes writing is difficult in that state of mind, so I've found it helpful to use my phones Audio Memo app, where I can record myself speaking. It makes it easier.
  • I don't want to advocate taking more than your comfortable with, but if your mind and environment are in a good place, I'm in favor of people taking larger doses than smaller. I agree with /u/choose_the_rice, that 3g is probably the maximum amount you should consider taking for your first time.

    Godspeed on your first time!

Please return and let us know how it went after your experience.

TJMaxx/Marshalls is where I usually get mine and not that expensive. I'm sensitive to pressure on my head when I sleep or it will be the beginnings for a migraine.

I love the ones that look like bra's, LOL.

The flat shiny satin style would make me sweat at night and cause my skin to break out, so that was a big no go.

Years ago when staying at the Ritz Carlton and having a spa session, I bought an eye mask from their spa shop. It was the best! But I lost it after a few months and could not find a replacement for it.

Yesterday I found 3 between my bed and the dogs bed when cleaning.

Buy a sleep mask and earplugs for yourself, and maybe she'll follow suit. Or suggest she buy those things. Or buy them for her. (i recommend this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06ZZGF4HK/ <- personally ear plugs always fall out of my ears, this has covers for the ears which will keep them in)

You can't stop sounds from happening, but you can block them out.

u/Worderah303 · 4 pointsr/AskWomen

I have some that bubble out over the eyes so they don't crush your eyelashes :) It also makes a nice seal around your eyes and blocks out 100% of light. I LOVE THEM! Here's the exact pair I bought (this is actually my second pair -- I wore my first pair out!)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H6FSZTO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These aren't hot on your face either, and the strap is adjustable AND velcro.

I will say though, that sometimes they can sit on my head too low and bother my ears, but I just set it higher on the back of my head and problem solved!

Yes! I have the best sleep mask ever! It's so soft!

Sorry for the late reply, I'm sick right now.

I couldn't possibly ask someone to send it from far away. I think it's more practical if I have it made here. My internet speed is 100KB/s. I'll just post a part of the reply I wrote to u/Triangle_killer -

> It's a good suggestion, and I have thought (even tried a bit) of it before. There are two reasons why this won't work - First is that my strength is really really low, even less than a toddler and I would only need it when I'm trying to sleep. When I'm trying to sleep my hands have to be tied (kind of) in a specific position near my pelvis, and it's impossible to move them.

> It's complicated... I'm sorry. :/

> I have one idea which I was thinking about. Take a look at this. Make something like this, but with more water-soaking material (I think cotton would do). The reason why I can't simply order one is because they have some kind of band which we have to wear at the back of our head to keep it in place. I have a bad rash on my body (including the scalp) so I can't wear it (I have tried).

> So it has to stay in place firmly without a band. I just need a way to do that, and a few other things, then I can have something made here.

Thanks for your help!

This is the sleep mask I use and it is awesome. We got it for free when my fiancé sold mattresses, but it's so good I'm thinking of buying a backup. I also have to have the fan on when I sleep. I don't drink caffeine after about midnight or 1, and I have a variety of meds I rotate between to help me sleep.

I think every person has to just find what works for them in terms of scheduling, whether or not they flip their sleep on nights off, etc.

Your class schedule does sound like an added challenge, though. If it were me, I'd probably do best working Thursday (hoping I could squeeze in a map between class and work), Saturday, Sunday each week. That would allow you to have a normal schedule on your school days, stay up on the weekends, give you one weekend night for socializing, and let you keep the same schedule each week and not have to switch things up to fit in your "weekend" requirements.

Also, consider taking a vacation day the week before big tests. Talk to your boss about whether or not you are allowed to take an occasional unpaid day off as well (especially for studying).

Good luck!!

u/GrinsNGiggles · 2 pointsr/sleep

Mine do, too, but I don't mind - I like having natural light wake me up in the morning.

Have you tried the ones that are 4-inches wide all around your head? I'm not recommending this one specifically, but maybe something in that style?

There are also some that have a chin strap in addition the back-of-the-head strap. I'm having a hard time finding that one again, but anti-snoring chin straps are plentiful and look secure. You could stitch one to your favorite sleep mask to make it much more secure.

"cpap-replacement straps" are a similar concept - sliding them on over a sleep mask and possibly stitching the sleep mask to the straps is likely to keep it in place. People's lives depend on cpap machines staying in place.

Try a sleep mask! My husband can't sleep without Total Darkness^^TM, I bought him this one a while back and he loves it.

u/jos96 · 2 pointsr/sleep

I use this and although I don't always sleep on my side I just tested it out and it doesn't poke me. https://www.amazon.com/Nidra-Dreams-Mask-Face-Fitting-Sleep/dp/B01NCAA58U/ref=sr_1_5_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1482468689&sr=8-5&keywords=sleep+mask Not sure if it's available in Canada.

u/kcrn15 · 2 pointsr/nursing

There is the sleep like normal and add a afternoon nap method, or the stay up all night and sleep all day method. I prefer the first.

You basically just sleep on the days between shifts. When you want to go back to days you sleep until the afternoon after a night shift, then wake up for the rest of the day and go to bed at your normal night hour.

Nights since 2010ish

Edit: Agree with blackout curtains or an eye mask like this- https://www.amazon.com/OriHea-Sleeping-Patented-Comfortable-Blindfold/dp/B078KCH1CM/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?keywords=face+mask+blackout&qid=1554714866&s=gateway&sr=8-5

Also can consider something like benadryl or melatonin as a sleep aid.

u/keralawala · 2 pointsr/india

I got this one. Highly recommend it : Friends of Meditation 100% Mulberry Silk, Super Smooth Sleep Mask And Blind Fold (Black) https://www.amazon.in/dp/B01LN7K4ZO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_yHY-Ab05NCS5S

He used a Mindfold Relaxation Mask (page 258 in the book).

It was designed by Alex Grey

u/kinkawink · 2 pointsr/bdsm

I don't know if this is what you are looking for but this is pretty high up on my wishlist at the moment. It's meant for spa use so it doesn't look like much but it essentially means you can open your eyes whilst wearing the blindfold and still won't be able to see anything - great if you're not into the idea of blackout lenses but want an added feeling of vulnerability.

u/anightperson · 1 pointr/SleepApnea

you can buy the cushion to interchange with the frame.

you’ll also need the full face adjustable straps to securely wear the full face cushion

only those two you’ll need! the rest is the same - whatever size your nasal cushion is now (probably small or medium) is the size full face you’ll buy. The sizing is only measuring how far your nose comes out under your nostrils length wise

u/Paragonetwo · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

You can block the Oculus Quest's Nose light very easily.
It is only needed when watching movies with Oculus Quest.
Sleep Mask's material is very flexible and soft, so nose can push it up in the headset. Nose is always outside. so there's no fog.
and still has a small hole for air flows. But cut more mask's fabric near the nose. Nose gap would be airflow of Quest for cooling and anti fog.

Anyway If you already have a sleep mask,
cut it half and band it on Oculus Quest.
It can Easily Attaching
and there's no more light leakage.
Enjoy the Movie!

I just bought a few masks on Amazon, and so far I like the Nidra.

As for earplugs, you can get custom plugs from an audiologist. I'm getting fitted for a pair this week; the charge is $80.

I use these everyday, because roommates make a lot of noise in the morning much earlier than I wake up. they hurt my ears the first few times I used them and every once in a while but they seem ok now. I did cut them a little bit near the end because sometimes tossing and turning would pull them out of my ears.

I also purchased this mask to try and sleep a bit more without the sun waking me and I like it so far. just be sure you are wearing it correctly or you will get light by your nose.

Some friends and I are planning a week long camping trip to the lake in a few weeks! This would help me sleep when we go. I don't sleep well while camping. I see shadows and it freaks me out. Haha I'm kind of wuss. But, I love being outdoors! I brought my dog last time we went and he LOVED it so we're bringing him again :)

u/SoulGorilla · 1 pointr/FloatTank

I would try a mindfold and some good earplugs or white noise. The Mindfold allows you to open your eyes and still see black, with no pressure on the eyelids. I use mine literally every day.

Zombie Eyes Undead Sleeping Mask.

u/biPIYObaina · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

I'm kind of confused.
Can I wear a sleeping eye mask (mine is also Laneige brand) over an overnight mask? I'm afraid it'll wipe off my gel or dirty my sleeping eye mask, but I don't want to compromise my quality of sleep.

u/SloveneQueen · 1 pointr/insomnia

Have you tried Belsomra? I’m not sure what the consensus is about suvorexant around these parts—there is a lot of conflicting evidence out there regarding its effectiveness—but it is the only solution for me. The only way I’m ever getting more than 3-4 hours of sleep a night is by coupling that with an eye mask (yes, it looks like a small bra, but I love it) and wax ear plugs.

ETA: I should add that Belsomra is extraordinarily expensive without good insurance - it is $300+ for a month if you aren’t covered. Luckily, my copay is manageable.

u/steinauf85 · 1 pointr/SleepApnea

yep, i bought both pieces on amazon for about $40 total. nice to have the option if needed, and keep the hose connection at the top of my head

it helps with congestion, but i didn't get a good seal with it. perhaps because of my beard. after my congestion cleared up i switched back to the nasal mask

mask (med size, but get whatever equivalent is to your nasal)

ZOMBIE SLEEP MASK!

Interesting all over it - my zombie eyes will be wide open while they are really shut. How is that NOT interesting??!! Haha :P

Over-the-ear muffs for sleeping are a thing. I have no idea how well they work, but the pair I found on Amazon has good reviews.

u/tesseracts · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

Not really a skincare product but I’ve been thinking of making my own sleeping mask or a removable silk cover for the one I have. Mine is an unusual shape and I prefer it to the normal shape which doesn’t block light as well. Unfortunately mine is cotton and I think it’s absorbing my moisturizer. I also worry I’m wearing it out by washing it a lot. It’s shaped like this .

u/bossybeans · 1 pointr/nursing

I love this one. I can sleep through almost anything with this eye mask, it completely blocks out ALL light, and is comfy to wear while sleeping. I'm a side sleeper and it doesn't poke or leak light.

u/Borgy223 · 1 pointr/Fibromyalgia

Yes! Along with a sleep mask that blocks everything out and is light as a feather.

If it's distracting you find a new version of meditation. but if you enjoy the darkness i'd look into grabbing a mind fold. They're pretty great I use them for most of my longer meditations. no pressure of the eye lids , soft foam that shapes to the face, very little light gets through. They were made by a visionary artist to aid his journeying (later sold the patent).https://www.amazon.com/MindFold-Relaxation-Mask/dp/B010WC5UNW/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1550790089&sr=8-2&keywords=mindfold

u/turquoisestar · 1 pointr/BurningMan

I love the wax ear plugs you can get at Walgreens because they're more comfortable to wear daily unlike mack's. I'm a light sleeper living in an active home near a bus line, who shares a room with someone that wakes up at 4. I also use a sound machine which at home uses USB but I can take camping bc it has batteries. I also use this sleep mask: Mindfold Blackout Sleeping Mask https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010WC5UNW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_7c6uCbZAWKDRQ. It's literally pitch black under there, which was especially helpful when I shared a dual bunkbed room with ppl who would leave lights on at 3am. Finally, getting some exercise during the day by biking, avoiding caffeine, and making sure you're not overly hot while sleeping are all important. And if you need to take a shot of alcohol, melatonin, or a Benadryl. Alcohol does fuck with the rem cycle tho, so sleep will be less beneficial.

Another excellent sleep mask: yiview contoured sleep mask

u/Fermain · 0 pointsr/AskReddit

I vary my attire depending on the season, currently it is getting cold in the UK so I'm wearing a thin pair of walmart pyjama bottoms and a small women's crop top with a pug on it, but thats less relevant. The most important part of my sleep attire is a HIGH QUALITY SLEEP MASK.

It's a game changer. Obviously it blocks out a lot of (but not all) light, which lets your eyes relax, but for me the biggest thing is the Pavlovian Response. When that mask goes on, my mind knows it's time to sleep.

I have a variety. Some of the free airline ones are actually alright, I have a double strap Qatar mask that is decent, but on the higher end there's a soft towel material mask which is nice and my favourite is a black 'Silk Jasmine' number that feels like you're wearing a high quality pair of women's knickers on your face. Just image that.

Sidenote: As sexy as the above sounds, in practice it isn't the best if you are sharing a bed with someone.

TL;DR: Shut up and buy a sleep mask
