Updated: So I posted on EDC 3 years ago back when I was working for a small Chicago based IT consulting firm with no flying that's the first photo. Second photo is my EDC I currently work for a very large Global Tech Consulting firm with weekly travel to the east coast.

u/hobbular · 9 pointsr/xxfitness

Thanks to that thread about non-workout time investments for a fit lifestyle, I ordered a foam roller and lacrosse ball and have actually been rolling myself out on the reg for the last week and GUYS. GUYS THIS IS LIFE CHANGING.

One question though: how do you use a lacrosse ball on your back without just wiggling all over the floor like a two-year-old on an entire package of gummy worms?

u/TBurd01 · 6 pointsr/hockeyplayers

You could try these and see if they help. Worth a try before jumping straight to new skates.

I have one of these little beauties. I use it for work so it's always in my car. It's about 2 feet long, solid, very hard plastic, and weighted at the end. I can imagine that it's good for a lot of uses. Maybe a nice improvised defensive tool in a pinch. What it's really good for and what I use it for is checking tires. It provides a good, solid strike, hits hard, doesn't bounce back much even on big truck tires. At 20 bucks, there's no reason why anyone shouldn't have one in their trunk for checking tires.

u/Odogogod · 5 pointsr/vancouver

Maybe it was a Canucks Bic lighter? Maybe. You can totally Amazon one of those if that’s right.

Played with it a couple times. I hear it takes a while to break in. For indoor use, here are some of my recommendations:

  • As mentioned, the Wilson Evolution is very good. I've been told there's a higher end and lower end one, and I can't quite tell by ales listings but I've played with some that feel markedly different. Might be worth looking into.

  • I really like the Rawlings OHSAA basketballs, which I played with in a tournament and some pickup games in Ohio. Similar feel as an Evo but a little softer feel and smooth.

  • TF-1000s are good, but supposedly used to be better. Some of the newer ones have a harder, almost glossier feel, less supple. A friend has an old one that feels great. They now offer a 'classic' and 'legacy' version, but I wouldn't mess with them at all these days.

  • I play with a MacGregor mostly indoors these days. Can't find it online at the moment, but similar to OSHAA and Wilson Evo. One of my favorites.

  • The FIBA official basketball is also very nice. Slightly different feel, but great for indoors.

  • Finally, The Rock is another great option for indoor only play. Dribbles and shoots well, and in the same category as the Evo.

    EDIT: Update
u/redsmurf1 · 4 pointsr/vancouver

>it was Bic, it was partially or all blue, and it said Vancouver on it.

Did it look like this? Canucks lighter with Vancouver on it

Welcome back! I recently got a pair of Powerfoot Hockey Skate inserts https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TFY490E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_sNjjybR42A2BK for my new Bauer skates and LOVE them. They fill the negative space above your toes and I noticed a difference the first time I skated with them. Granted, I am not a great skater but it definitely helped with the fit of my skate and stability.

u/silenc3x · 3 pointsr/LetsNotMeet

I prefer this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Cold-Steel-Brooklyn-Shorty-Black/dp/B00P0TWER8/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1454023967&sr=1-1&keywords=cold+steel+shorty

Smaller, easier to swing in narrow areas, and not aluminum so it won't "ring" in your hands if you strike something hard.

u/vorin · 3 pointsr/bicycling

He had better have these socks that I wear.

u/sadlegoface · 2 pointsr/Wiffleball

Hey! I really like your site but I figured I'd throw a couple of ideas your way. Just some things you may not be aware of or hadn't gotten to yet.

Alternate Rules - There are leagues all over the country and they have all made some tweaks to the rules to make the game more fun and it's really helped grow the game. If I were you, I'd present some of the variations in rules so people have some options and can find the version that fits best for them. For example, The Palisades WBL is fast pitch on a 90 degree field with no base running. They also allow almost any type of plastic bat to be used. It's a really fun way to play the game and they have tons of videos recapping their league play.

WSEM plays a similar style as the Palisades WBL but they run the bases.

The gold standard, however, is probably the NWLA Tournament. They only use the OG yellow bat and unscuffed wiffle balls, use a 90 degree field and they run the bases.

Ball Scuffing - I think having some of Wiffleboy28's stuff would be a good idea too. Scuffing the wiffleball can add control and give the ball a bigger break, although your balls will wear out quicker and some people think it's cheating. However, the biggest leagues all scuff.

Additional Equipment - You missed some of the best bats out there!

  1. Palisades WBL GTSOH Bat. Whoa, this thing has some pop. I think 160 feet or so is the deepest shot we've seen with this guy. These bats are hand assembled and have a wooden dowel for a handle which gives the bat great balance. $35.

  2. Louisville Slugger C271 (The Griffey Bat) This thing looks pretty normal but when you square it up the ball jumps off this bat. Plus it's $12.

  3. Moonshot Bats - Have you got $200 to blow on a wiffle ball bat? If so, this is where you go...

Umm...just get The Rock. You will not be disappointed. Read the reviews.

They're kind of tight, but not at all restrictive, and they're very short. I always wear 'em on squat days, and I love that I don't have to hitch them up, ever.

u/_TheBro_ · 2 pointsr/Swimming

I swim in set of 100m and I also get confused with the number of sets I have done at some point. I think about getting one of these and place it on the side.

u/NeonWaterBeast · 2 pointsr/bjj

I never had any complaints about the Twisters - the plastic is super soft (so maybe a newer design?).

Thanks for the reco on the the Matmans. They look pretty decent.

These are the Grapplearts: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DAYRA0U/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2B9GFDHNL8DMK

u/FUBARded · 2 pointsr/bicycling

My local bike shops all have little velcro straps with reflective material to be fastened around a pants leg to keep the hem out of the drivetrain and provide some extra visibility, so you could use something like that if you wanted (similar to this, but with proper 3M reflective material rather than neon thread).

If you wanted something a little less conspicuous you could just get some elastic and sew it into a loop, or even use wrist sweat bands (I believe used by racket sport players).

u/Byrdyth · 2 pointsr/knitting

I have one of these click counters: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007NCK8Y6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Three bucks and it's way more sturdy (and cheaper!) than the counter made for counting rows/stitches.

u/jacques_chester · 2 pointsr/OkCupid

Or you can buy the same thing without the massive markup.

u/AskAboutMyNarcissism · 2 pointsr/AskNYC

I'd recommend the Brooklyn Basher. Much more effective than the Queens Queefer or the Staten Island Salami.

Wear headgear when you train so you can avoid wearing it when you compete. I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/Grapplearts-Wrestling-Cauliflower-Construction-Protection/dp/B01DAYRA0U/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1479406882&sr=1-1&keywords=grapplearts+ear+guard

Started having sore ears from triangle drilling about a month ago, and it was painful when I had a haircut (the barber would bend my ear). Since I started wearing this, the pain has gone away.

Edit: the strap broke on this one last night. Don't buy it.

u/CodeRead · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

These are colorful and reminiscent of something a lot of people like: Your new socks!

u/britjh22 · 1 pointr/Homebrewing

So yeah, the options are pretty much flow sensors (expensive and complicated), by weight (similar issues, and many weight sensors have issues with static weight) or by just simple counting by adding something like these to each tap which is a low tech method, but you can't really count half a pint if you go for smaller pours.

u/hasanyoneseenmyshirt · 1 pointr/ZenHabits

old fasion tally on paper(a tick for every word and grouped in fives), but im sure there is an app for that. Maybe one of those counters that adds one after every click like this one could be helpful for some.

u/Oax_Mike · 1 pointr/travel
u/Mikey4tx · 1 pointr/lacrosse

I've used that one at the local lax store. It's absolutely amazing... but expensive.

I've used this one for a couple of years: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007RIAB6G?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image

It has held up and does the job.

u/Glyph8 · 1 pointr/onewheel

Yeah, I was really hoping to add it to my wristguard, but the kind I have, there's no easy way to do it. I think this is going to work - gonna replace the wrist strap with this, then it should sit snug on my elbow guard where I want it, plus it gives me a reflective stripe at night:

But, honestly, a 12 gauge shotgun is best.
Kel-Tec, etc.

It has excellent stopping power and ia simple enough for any novice to use.

The fact of the matter is, if you are in a State that has gun owner and homeowner friendly laws, a shotgun is your best friend.

u/theCrownedRoyal · 1 pointr/bodybuilding

my personal faves. sturdy as hell and show off the quads. $20. I have two pairs and want more. the black ones are the ones, the other colors arent the sturdy material.

Start your own Wiffle ball league.

It's cheap

u/Reliant · 1 pointr/IndieGaming

It could use a bit better of an explanation. It took me 2 full tries before I understood what I was supposed to do.

My first attempt, I thought "shutter" just meant to start it. After I hit the spacebar everything started, and I was just counting myself thinking I would type in the number at the end.

My second attempt, I tried pressing the space bar like I was taking pictures, so instead of hitting space on every one, I was waiting until there were a few new ones on them on screen at the same time.

What I think would be more intuitive would be something like a number clicker counter being shown on the bottom right corner. Every time the player presses the space bar, it's clicked once with a click sound effect and the player sees the number increment. I think something that small would make the minigame very intuitive.

As for the game itself, where will it lie in the balance between reflexes and simulation on a scale of 1 being Diner Dash and 10 being Restaurant Empire? What will the player spend most of the time doing while playing the game?

u/GildedApparel · 1 pointr/MouseReview

I recommend this for grip

u/KDsBurner · 1 pointr/Basketball

Best and cheap don’t mix. If you’re going for an outdoor ball, don’t buy leather; get something that will last. If you’re going indoor, get The Rock. It’s like 60$ and my favorite ball to play with indoors.

If you have the indoor space and resources, get a Stinger X rebounder: https://www.allballpro.com/products/stingerx

And use Swax lax balls with it: https://www.swaxlax.com

The Stinger rebounder is $600 but is worth it if your committed due to how fast the ball comes back to you vs a normal rebounder. If the price is a little steep, then a normal rebounder like this one will work fine: https://www.amazon.com/Professional-Folding-Lacrosse-Throwback-Rebounder/dp/B007RIAB6G/ref=sr_1_4?crid=V92PA4D34AHS&dchild=1&keywords=lacrosse+rebounder&qid=1570982344&sprefix=Lacrosse+reboun%2Caps%2C157&sr=8-4

Usually for ligament strains (like the PCL) they give a grade for the tear. Grade 1 is pretty minor strain, grade 2 is a partial tear, and grade 3 is a full tear of the ligament.

I had a grade 2.5+ almost full tear from a layout on turf in February of this year. I have a good PT and he instructed me to do as much quad strengthening as possible with closed kinetic chain exercises (your feet on the floor, as opposed to things like leg lifts). So lots of reps of single leg split squats, lunges, wall sits, step ups, etc. I also did some electrotherapy stuff that seemed to speed up the healing a bit (the brand of the machine is Bemer).

Even still, it was about 2 months before I was running again, 3 months back to playing, 4-5 months back to playing club level tournaments, and 6 months to feeling close to full speed. But if yours is a lower grade of tear you may be able to get back faster. Mine was just about as close to a full tear as you can get, but luckily I managed to avoid surgery and the long recovery that comes with that.

It's still really easy to re-injure though, especially with layouts and stuff. I'd recommend grabbing some kind of kneepad for that knee when you do start playing again, as that'll help with the impact a bit. I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/McDavid-Youth-Knee-Elbow-Black/dp/B01BD0DZKC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502247255&sr=8-1&keywords=hex+knee+pad

Hope that helps, and good luck with the recovery!

Sk8 Hi Vans (great for ankle protection on the cranks). Bell Division Helmet. G-Form shin pads. I have Shadow Conspiracy Invisalite elbow pads, but don't ever use them. They're pretty much the same as the some generic foam knee pads I have, off amazon: https://www.amazon.com/McDavid-Youth-Knee-Elbow-Black/dp/B01BD0DZKC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1501884304&sr=8-2&keywords=hex+knee+pad

You can't really see it under my jeans and gives more confidence for pedal slips, and knee hitting the stem or falling to your knees. A hard plastic would be better but I have yet to find one that fits nicely under jeans (I am not about wearing them on the outside like it's the 90s, even though I long for those days and am from that era).

u/Concise_Pirate · 1 pointr/KitchenConfidential

If you have to count a lot of something, there is a gadget for that. Or group them (like, by tens or by how many fit on each shelf) and count the groups. Or the fastest way: count them by weighing the whole lot (in a bin or box if needed, just remember to tare) and then dividing by the average weight!

u/dogdogduck · 1 pointr/knitting

I have one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/Electronic-Digital-Display-Counter-Counting/dp/B00EHA3JVG

It was super cheap, and it works, but I always worry that it will either die on me in the middle of a project or get advanced while in my project bag, so I never use it.

The counter I do use is one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073R5DPRC

If I need more than one counter, I use BeeCount on my phone.
