Are you over or under 18? Do you have roommates? I would call the police ASAP and let them know what happened. Chances are you aren’t the only person this has happened to and the more details (even if minimal) they have about this guy the better.

In the meantime, I would ask a friend or family member if you can stay with them or if they can stay with you. Order a taser (VIPERTEK VTS-881 - 7 Billion Micro Stun Gun - Rechargeable with LED Flashlight, Purple https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F8M0FAO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_waEKBbZ03EFVY) on amazon.

I live alone as well and having it gives me peace of mind. Looking confident and unafraid will also discourage people from following you. I’ve never done this but I’ve heard that if someone is following you, you should stop and turn and stare at them, because it perturbed them and is not an expected behavior. Obviously idk what time it was/environment but I wouldn’t do this late at night alone. I also wouldn’t be afraid to call 911 and say I’m sitting at ____ bus station and a man has been following me for this long. This is why we pay taxes.

These are great little stun gun flashlights that can temporarily blind a potential attacker as well. Use the light when you want to see darkened areas; turn it off when you don't want to be seen.

I highly recommend a stun gun flashlight. They come in bunch of different colors. If you get one, make sure you practice how to weaponize it to protect yourself. If the shock noise is loud, all the better to scare off any potential attackers. Make sure you use the wrist strap so it doesn't fall. I'll walk home with it armed and in my hand.

I mean obviously, double check what your local laws are about carrying stun guns, but I'd rather deal with a weapons charge for defending myself than to be attacked or dead.

> Edit: Just realized you're talking about the rubber toys that karate instructors use for pretend time. You spent $60 on a chunk of rubber.

I'm not saying OP's idea is a good, but I will point out that Blackhawk sells demo guns for about $25 to $30.

Also, apparently chunks of rubber are banned in New York.

We have a few depending on how we’re gonna transport them. They are close quarters but they are the last resort. When it gets really scary is when there is nowhere to run. We live in Belltown and you could be cornered pretty quickly against a building. The taser is loud AF and a friend who is a cop says 5 seconds will knock you straight to the ground in convulsions. I told my wife, if you gotta use it ever...show them no mercy for you shall receive none....

Just want to clarify something before I throw down my recommendations.

Are you wanting a stun gun (requires skin to prong contact, no darts)

Or an actual taser (like Police Carry)?

Also, just for you knowledge Tasers/Stun Guns are notoriously unreliable. If any of the the prongs (both types) fail to make contact with the skin they won't be effective.

Stuff like heavy coats, loose fitting shirts and sometimes just outright bad luck render tasers ineffective.

To directly answer your question:

The Taser C2 imo is a good rookie starting point, but tasers are incredibly expensive, while stun guns are a little bit cheaper, the problem is you need to be in physical contact with that individual.

Alternatively you might want to look at Pepper Spray or Mace, which have a far lower failure rate.

Edit: totally forgot to include links to what I was talking about.

It seems really fucking sketchy to me. I hate people who try to sell this kind of self defense martial arts crap because it's a false security. Good luck taking on someone who really wants to hurt you with your piece of plastic. What you really need for self defense is something simple and reliable like a stun gun, or a concealable knife, or a good old fashioned gun. Better yet pulling out a knife or something has an intimidation factor. This piece of plastic doesn't. Also at $14 this stun gun is cheaper. All in all fuck this piece of plastic, it wont do you any good.

I would maybe get a pepper/bear spray until you get a gun and training to use it, another option is a stun gun. You can get a flashlight/stun gun combo that runs on an 18650 (lithium ion battery that looks like a big 'AA' battery) fairly cheap on Amazon or the like. Just make sure you know how to use either option and have it easily accessible if the need arises.

Can confirm that you will feel better once you give yourself some options. And I really like the kitty!!!

Spent a summer working on an island with a high crime rate (they all have high crime rates, they just don’t talk about it) and my path home was lovingly referred to as the rape trail. I was freaked the fuck out for two weeks before my taser arrived. It’s also a little liberating - you CAN take care of yourself, you will be alright.

Also, in some states, carrying a taser is a misdemeanor. As long as you’ve got a clean record, that’s a chance I, personally, was willing to take. My thought was if someone comes after me and I get them, I’m probably not in all that much trouble.

Carry pepper spray and a stun gun. I lived in DTLA during my party girl days and would walk home suuuper late at night with stun gun in one hand and mace in the other. I had this one - and honestly, the zapping noise is startling enough to dissuade a lot of creeps. Try to have good walking shoes on - if you have to wear specific shoes for work or events, bring another pair in a bag that you can move easily in. If you're in danger the point is to get as far away as fast as possible.

Something like this can be a helpful non-lethal means of personal protection: Guard Dog Security 6000000-volt Flashlight Stun Gun

u/Bathroomdestroyer · 2 pointsr/whatisthisthing

They are ~$40/shot too so someone either was scared or really wanted to shoot the tazer..

OP I recommend getting a stun gun

http://www.amazon.com/VIPERTEK-VTS-881-Micro-Rechargeable-Flashlight/dp/B00HPQZP2U/ref=sr_1_6?s=hunting-fishing&ie=UTF8&qid=1420396438&sr=1-6&keywords=stun+gun

I'm not making assumptions on how well you could defend yourself otherwise - I'm a guy with lots of martial arts experience and I have one. This one in particular is so small and cheap that I think everyone should have one. They hurt pretty badly (I've stunned myself to see what it feels like) but the noise alone is enough to make someone shit their pants. It might make you feel a little safer. Personally I feel like a goddamn wizard with this thing in my hand. I can't stress enough how loud and terrifying the "zapping" noise is.

Also the flashlight on this particular model is really powerful, so even if you never actually zap the shit out of someone, the flashlight alone is worth the money in my opinion since you just plug it into the wall and charge it - no batteries.

Fuck that rule. You have the right to protect yourself. They sell many disguised versions of pepper spray.

The "Women shouldn't have to protect themselves because people shouldn't assault women" argument is dangerous garbage to listen or respond to. Should and shouldn't is irrelevant. Assault, rape, and murder have been around for as long as living things have existed, and they always will be around. It's foolish for anybody, women OR men, to go around unprotected. Take your life into your own hands, get a tool, learn how to use it. If you can't carry a gun, carry a taser. If you can't carry a taser, carry pepper spray. If you can't carry pepper spray, carry it anyway. If you'd like any advice in how to operate or handle anything you may decide to carry, let me know, I'm glad to help.

I would suggest the Wowtac A1S BSS Version. The regular A1S is a very durable all around edc light and this version comes with a detachable strike bezel. You could also go with a stun flashilght like this

I've never had to use the tazer (knock on wood) but the flashlight is handy. Also cheap.

Get some bear spray, or a taser...if they come at you, spray it in their face/jam it into their torso. I don't know what it's like in your country, but in the US you should able to avoid any assault charges as it's clearly self-defense (you'll probably get suspended, or even expelled for bringing a weapon to school...but there are usually alternatives like twilight school and tech school).

>I also don't like violence

This is why they continue to pick on you. Unprovoked violence is despicable, but you need to be prepared to defend yourself if attacked. The world is filled with horrible people, and they will victimize you. While you can't completely avoid it, you can make yourself a less appealing target. Pepper spray/tasers may not always be an option, so take a kick-boxing class or something...learn to defend yourself without a weapon and you'll show them (and anyone else who tries to bully you) that you're not worth the trouble.

>The people who hit me, kick me, and so on, they smoke, some of them do drugs, get drunk, and smoke cigarettes. I tried reporting it,

Are you saying you tried to report them for smoking cigarettes/drinking/etc.? Snitching like that, for something so trivial, is not going to help you. Ever heard the saying "snitches get stitches"? Don't get me wrong; if they're bullying you, and you can't make it stop without the help of some authority figure, then you should totally get help...but snitching about drugs/etc. is pretty much never a good idea.
