A bathroom trashcan with a trash bag in it and a lid. Guys never seem to throw anything away in the bathroom, but girls have to throw away used tampons and pads. You don't want to see that, and it can be embarrassing for girls to leave that visible in your trash. Get a lidded trash can!

Soap, toilet paper, and clean hand towels or paper towels in the bathroom. Even if you don't wash your hands, make it look like you do and have the supplies so others can!

Artwork. No, posters taped or tacked to the wall don't count. Bonus points if you made it and it's good.

Books

A good smell. Get some mildly scented air freshener, candles, potpourri, scented oils, etc. Nothing too strong like incense though. Don't use them just to cover up bad smells though; then it just smells like a mix of the bad smell and the air freshener!

Bed made with clean sheets. Bonus points for headboard, bed frame, box springs.

A variety of beverages to offer guests, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Bonus points for offering a drink.

MSI has a 4GB RX 560 of that same card. That is twice the CU cores as the RX 550.

You also might want to get creative. Carefully measure your small form factor case's internal volumes. Figure out an open space you can mount the GPU in whatever orientation works. Then look into purchasing a PCIE X16 ribbon cable and HDMI/DP mount extention cables. Make sure to consider airflow, you may need to modify your case and add ventilation for the GPU. A cheap modmesh hack, is to get a $5 Ikea or Walmart metal black mesh trash bin, then cut it up for material to use for making a vent.

Just make sure to measure carefully, draw everything out, and use the right tools... So you don't make a mess.

Don't know if Amazon links are allowed on this subreddit, but I linked examples of what I'm talking about below.

I use a Umbra Grand Infused Humidor, made specifically for infused and flavored cigars.

Just kidding ; ) Keep them well away from your non infused IMO.

Trash can with venting channels... These already exist.

Got married in 2015 and we was in the same boat as you... Both of us are from large ethnic families who wanted to give physical gifts (because they're well intentioned and wanted to pay it forward - a lot of them were newly arrived in the US without a lot of money, and sometimes not a lot of family and married pretty young - so gifts they got for their marriage were actually very much needed). Both my partner and I already had functioning apartments (separately), then when we moved in while we were engaged, realized we had about 2 of everything and had to narrow that down. Thankfully, we are pretty minimal people - him by nature, me by intention. But especially after having to sort through both of our belonging to weed out duplicates, we really felt like we did not need anything else.

We ended up taking a two pronged appraoch: 1) Upgrading things we had, and used, but that were not all that nice to begin with and 2) Items that would help us achieve the goals that we had laid out for our relationship as a married couple.

A few things we asked for that have seen a lot of use:

  1. Vitamix - I thought this was going to be a huge waste of money, but my partner really wanted it and my aunt really wanted to give it to us (because she loves hers). This thing has gotten used daily (and sometimes multiple times a day). We have been low-carb-ish for the last two years and the Vitamix has been awesome for this kind of cooking. Can't say enough great things about it and I have no doubt this thing is going to last decades.

  2. Really great Japanese knives - my cousin is a chef recommended this pearing knife and this 8.5" knife. Not only are they super easy to handle (as opposed to German Wostoff knives - a commonly requested wedding gift, which IMHO are way too large to efficently or precisely manuver), but they are gorgeous knives that are nicely balanced and really feel great in your hand. We replaced an entire block of cheap-o knives with these two knives alone.

  3. Religious & ethnic items for holidays - There are a few holidays we celebrate where specific items are part of the tradition. For example, for Christmas, our families always have nativity sets, so we registered for that. For Easter, there are special cultural items that are used - and someone made us that. You can ask your ethnic families to get you these things (which were actually some of the most touching gifts because they were either made by hand or purchased overseas).

  4. Plates, silverware, glasses and servingware to host 40 people - This is NOT "minimalist" for pretty much anyone, but it made sense for us. We both have large families. The elders of the families have been strongly hinting at having us take over the "big holidays" that they have been hosting. Additionally, we live in a neighborhood that is the spot for 4th of July parties, and we host an annual blowout day-before-Thanksgiving party. When we were making our registry, we made a list of everyone who would be on the invite for these parties and were hitting the 35-40 person range. So we have 40 place settings - we keep 32 of them in a separate set of cabinets in the basement, and 5-6 times a year, bring them out so that everyone can eat together using real plates and silverware. It's not minimalist, but it's intentional in that we specifically have choosen to stay in the same city as our families so we can do these types of things.

I guess my overall advice would be to make a list of goals you want to achieve for your life together, and then try to ask for items that either help you achieve those goals, or enhance those experiences.

    A few examples:

  • If a goal for your married life together is to be environmentally sustainable, think about registering for a compost bin, a fancy SimpleHuman garbage/recyling can or a Berkey Water Filter

  • If you want to pursue a healthy lifestyle together and cook homemade meals - you can upgrade your pots and pans (love my All Clad pots and my Le Creuset pan).

Does anyone NEED this stuff? No, of course not. But when you're lucky enough to already have all your basic needs met in life, wedding registries provide are a nice opportunity to upgrade things that were aquired at an earlier time in your time in your life, not for their enduring quality, but rather their low cost/ ease of procurement. Good luck!

The handle is definitely nice! But the garbage bin we use easily holds about 12 gallons of water. Even then it fills up faster than we can use it sometimes! I think they work best simply because of its volume. They're pretty cheap too.

We do use buckets to scoop the water for other uses though!:)

u/Loimographia · 2 pointsr/dogs

Try a covered metal trash can like this; it's too heavy to knock over for most dogs, and even when they do, the trash stays closed inside. My dog used to constantly get into trash; this was my solution.

u/Sent_From_My_ · 2 pointsr/kansascity

What do you mean the "tiny ass recycling bin"?

We have two bins in our house, one we collect cans with and one we use for large items and combine when we do curbside. You can buy whatever size you want..We have this one and this one, recycle everything we can and never have problems.

Glass wise, Atlas Glass charges something like sub $10 a month last I checked, and if you don't want to pay that, ripple glass is all over. I make a trip once a month and its never an issue.

I'll concede there are other cities that do it much better, but I feel Kansas city is far from sucking at it.

u/gr8__vinez · 2 pointsr/puppy101

The smell instinct is real lol

I’ll give my boy card board boxes just because he likes to tear them apart and won’t eat them.

I had to get this garbage/recycling can. He figured out how to lift the lid on my old one. He chewed the peddles because he knew they did SOMETHING but didn’t quite figure out how they work.

I found the best way to battle him getting in the trash was making sure he had no ways of getting into the trash. Also he doesn’t eat the cardboard so I know if I have time to clean he gets it as a reward. The only time he shows interest in it now is when I throw meat scraps in there.

This. I bought it because it uses plastic grocery bags as trash bags, with hooks to grab the handles. Great idea for a trash can.

u/i_need_bourbon · 2 pointsr/Seattle

We got a bin that hangs on the kitchen cabinet door for compost that fits the standard 3 gallon "bio bags" perfectly: http://www.amazon.com/simplehuman-In-Cabinet-Trash-Heavy-Duty-2-6-Gal/dp/B00DMMW22W

It comes out easily for transport to bin outside (because you cannot carry the bio bags themselves).

u/lizzieisrad · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Its surprising some of the things you find out that you need after you move in.

  1. Trashcan

  2. Can opener... I had to get really creative one night trying to open a can

  3. Flash Drive with high storage

  4. Mirror

  5. A nice rug

  6. Shower Caddy or if you have communal bathrooms portable shower caddy

  7. Command Hooks and tabs

  8. Over the door hooks

  9. Desk Calendar/planner

  10. A few cheap dishes and flatware for microwave meals

AND A FISHY TO BE YOUR FRIEND!

These are just a few things. I just graduated college and I will never again underestimate the necessity of duct tape and a plunger :P

EDIT: Would you like a falafel with that?

What I want is a trash can, cause my kid broke mine

u/MaybeMe9 · 2 pointsr/dogs

Dogs are natural scavengers, and if you have an open-trash can sitting out, he is going to find opportunities to get into it. Smacking him for undesired behavior is not an effective method of training and will ultimately do more harm than good.

I keep my bathroom doors closed to keep the dogs out of the trash in there, and in the kitchen I use one of these. It is not expensive and works well.

Your wish list link is broken. Use this, http://amzn.com/w/1KJWLIWB3W464.

Well, congratulations on your new apartment! I would suggest being conscious of turning off lights. Electric bills can get pretty outrageous. Also, don't use your AC when it is under 90 degrees out, keep it at 78 when you're at home and 86 when you leave on hot days. Wash the dishes you after you use them! The can pile up quickly. At the very least rinse them off and stack them on the side of the sink to wash later. Don't let more than 10 accumulate. Keeping your house clean is simple. Put in little effort upfront rather than max effort later. Pick up that loose paper before 10 others follow suit. Put your clothes in the hamper, not on the bathroom floor. It's not hard or complicated. I promise.

You need the following
Trash can
Trash bags
Broom (I have this one and it holds up well.)
Mop #1
Mop #2
Bucket (can double as car was bucket.)

You'll also need towels, bathroom rugs, shower curtain, plates, etc that you will want to pick to match the colors of your home.

I hope you have fun! Invite friends to help you move and buy them pizza! Thanks for have this contest! cheeto fingers

Yeah, raccoons are all nice and dandy when you live in town and it's cute when they eat cat food people leave out, but in areas where the scope of life doesn't require steel doors and clean-desk policies for porches, they're definitely a nuisance. I learned quickly to store all feed (even excess feed) in steel garbage cans with like this. It's a bit more expensive up front but they really do last forever. Heavy duty bungees covering the lid have seemed to provide enough protection over the years.

Beyond feed, I attached 1" poultry fencing on the bottom 24" of the chain link around my chicken run and sank it 6" into the ground below the fence line. It's worked pretty well since I installed it; no losses to predation.

Raccoons have they're place, but it's definitely not on a farm/ranch. It's an unfortunate fact of life, but stock animals (chickens, goats, cattle, sheep, etc.) are effectively prey to nature's predators and we are their keepers. I've never enjoyed culling a predator, but I've never regretted it either. I trap and relocate when I can but sometimes it's not possible. I feed my family and several others. Sometimes that requires unpleasant actions; t's a fact of life.

I got one of these in-cabinet trashcans specifically so that I wouldn't have to worry about my cats eating floss, Q-tips, etc.

Spending a bit of money will fix your problem.

What you need to do is buy this thing. And then put that inside of a small-ish wastebin. Something like this thing.

Then buy a big thing of turpenoid, like this for instance.

Finally you can buy this guy.

Then here's what you do. When you're ready to change paints, wipe your brush as well as you can with a paper towel. Then clean the brush off in the brush cleaning bucket (which has a screen inside of it, it's not just a bucket--very important). Your brush will be mostly soaked through with turnpenoid, and you then beat off the last bits of paint/turpenoid into the wastebin/rack combo you made.

If you spend this money up front, you will have very pleasant painting experience from now on.

Ash Bucket to hold pellets collected from auger-line during feed cycle - Better safe than sorry. Any pellet close to the blower in there should be stored in steel for peace of mind at least overnight.

And Use This For Your Fresh Pellets!

u/Histrix · 1 pointr/grilling

Since you’re a beginner I suggest you focus more on just learning how to grill and stick with Kingsford blue to remove one of the variables.

Once you have developed some comfort and skill then it may be time to try some other fuel. My suggestion is to try whatever brands/types you have available in your area and find what works best for YOU.

The only downside to Kingsford blue bags is that it creates a lot of ash when compared to lump. Not really a big deal tho. I suggest you buy one of those small galvanized buckets with a lid to empty your ash into. They are fireproof. Every year you read about someoine that was sure the ash from their grill was extinguished so they dump it into their normal trash can and burn down their garage. Don’t be that person.

When it comes to consistency Kingsford wins hands down. When it comes to price Kingsford blue bags wins - especially if you load up on the upcoming sales.

Lump varies widely from brand to brand and even from bag to bag within a brand. Which lump is best is like arguing religion or politics - opinions and passions can run high.

In my Weber kettle and WSM I tend to use Kingsford Blue. I don’t really think the other more expensive Kingsford types are really worth the extra $$.

In my kamados and other grills I tend to use lump and I generally have a few brands on hand - Royal Oak, Kamado Joe, Rockwood.

Maybe something like this would do? The metal "garbage can" type containers come in different sizes.

Well, I ordered 3 small traschcans, a shower curtain, two types of plungers, a toilet brush, and some plumber's tape so I can install my showerhead

u/shiplesp · 1 pointr/dogs

I use a galvanized steel can and the bag I get will fit inside. I like it because steel is pretty secure against pests or inquisitive pets :)

And I don't mind the industrial look of it.

u/Myfeelingsarehurt · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

I received one as a gift 3.5 years ago(a friend saw me lusting after this one at BB&B) I never would have spent that much on a trash can before, but if I ever need to replace it I won't hesitate to by this brand at this price again!

Also I put the trash bag on the recycle side and use it for trash as I produce more recycling than trash and I take the trash out more often this was so there is less smell.
