I've been using this one lately but swapped out the holder for a CD-slot mount from another car dock. It's the smallest one on the market and works great. :)

https://www.amazon.com/SOJITEK-Wireless-Standard-Charger-Enabled/dp/B01D23M90A/

Previously I had this one which actually had a better one-handed removal mount but just wanted to switch to something a little more compact now that I'm using a CD-slot dock and don't want to cover as much of my vehicle's touchscreen. Both are great options however depending what you want.

I would get the z3 compact. Yeah it's like 2 years old but from I hear it's still a great phone (even others in this thread have mentioned it). The battery isn't "giant" but it's pretty big and paired with the 720p screen the battery life is very VERY good.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00NBOYRNS/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478203942&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=z3+compact&dpPl=1&dpID=41XH61sWmGL&ref=plSrch

There is of course the z5 compact but that's closer to $400

u/MagicCarpDooDooDoo · 1 pointr/Android

Have you tried true wireless? They're fantastic, but I usually like to have only one in at a time, so they are ideal for me. Left one in, right one charges. Right one in, left one charges. Charge the case when I charge my phone (both usb-c). They're water resistant like my phone so I can wear them in the shower or on runs without a problem.

These anker (soundcore subbrand) ones are good, but they're not usb-c on the case yet.

dang. it was on amazon and best buy THIS weekend at $299. Sorry to mislead.

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01LACBMV2/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all&sa-no-redirect=1

you can check out here, it looks like there is a return for $273+tax with the amazon warranty.

here is the camelcamelcamel link with has the $299 this past weekend. you can definitely set up an alert.

ASUS Zenpad Z500M seems like a better value right now unless you really want the updates quick or want a smaller form factor. I have one coming tomorrow and I'll be happy as long as it gets firmware updates eventually. You get a lot more for just $99.

u/undercoverwaffles · 0 pointsr/Android

I used to be the same way when I was buying nothing but Monoprice cables. I started buying Mediabridge cables and have not needed to replace one in the past year and a half. Seriously, the best cables I've ever used. That goes with their 3.5mm audio cables and HDMI cables that I've bought from them also.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004GF8TIK

Blah blah /r/hailcorporate etc, their cables are super sturdy.

u/monk3yboy305 · 1 pointr/Android

Thanks to having a removable battery, I have a great set up. I have a second battery, a battery cradle, and a power bank.

When my phone's battery runs out, I swap out for the second one, putting me back at 100%. Then, I put the empty battery in the cradle, connect the cradle to the power bank, and I have 100% on my phone while the empty battery is charging in my backpack.

I can continue this cycle and play Pokemon Go for well over a day straight.

u/Marnett05 · 1 pointr/Android

These are also great. Being completely wireless and charging from the case is great!

u/minimalistjake · 1 pointr/Android

Yes and yes, however there's another usb port on the adapter that you can plug your charger into so the device can charge while playing.

My experience with my Nexus 4 is that it pretty much maintains it's current power level while I watch an HD movie (i think it actually goes up a very small amount).

Here's the link:

u/loki8481 · 2 pointsr/Android

what about the ASUS ZenPad 3S 10?

if all you're using it for is reading, you may like the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 for the little handle thing it has. makes holding it to read a book pretty comfortable.

u/dragoneye · 11 pointsr/Android

I've been asking for this for awhile.

I want an android tablet with a wacom digitizer, that you can ideally connect to your laptop/computer and then use it like a cintiq.

There is one product out there right now that comes oh so close, but it is too expensive. I could see it being excellent with Windows 8, or Android. Check Out the ASUS EP121

u/laxor09 · 2 pointsr/Android

How to use it outside the US:

  1. Install Amazon App Store

  2. Uninstall the old Amazon App from Google Play

  3. Install the updated Amazon App and the Instant Video App from the Amazon App Store

  4. Done :)

Using it in Germany right now.
u/DarkZyth · 1 pointr/Android

If you are worried about space, get the 32GB and then buy a separate OTG adapter. Something like the Sandisk Ultra 32GB/64GB OTG adapter or one that uses MicroSD cards like the Dash Micro. I myself use the Patriot Stellar Lite 32GB. Has a Micro USB for connecting to my Note 5 and a normal USB for connection to my computer. I feel like I've mentioned these quite a lot lately lol. Guess it's because most people don't realize you can still have more storage without a MicroSD card slot (although not a permanent replacement).

u/ThatActuallyGuy · 1 pointr/Android

I understand the frustration, but I've had a great experience with this guy. Use it every day and haven't had any problems.

u/itsabearcannon · 9 pointsr/Android

I just think people have a problem shelling out $700 for a device with so many "fine"s and "good"s. They want "spectacular" for that price, and having made my decision between it and a Note 4, I have to say that the Note 4, for the same $700 off-contract at some retailers, is a far better investment of that money for better specs, better build quality, and the additional stylus plus expandable storage.

u/Captain_Alaska · 2 pointsr/Android

>They do however have a cassette deck for which I can buy a cheap adapter that I permanently keep in the deck.

Now you're just trying to inconvenience yourself. You can buy a aux to whatever adapter and leave it on the end of the cassette adapter or leave it in the glove box. You can buy a bluetooth cassette tape. You can buy a bluetooth to aux adapter and throw it on the end of the cassette adapter and not have to plug anything at all in, plus get the bonus of being able to change tracks without digging into the phone and answer calls without touching the phone.

Or, considering it's old enough for cassette it's probably a DIN or Double DIN slot, so save up a bit of coin and for your/her birthday and splurge on a nice relitevely cheap CarPlay/AA radio and get a whole load of benifits like Navigation.

u/-deteled- · 16 pointsr/Android

Still too expensive.

Anker has a really good set of truly wireless headphones that everyone should buy.

[here is the buds I bought](http://www.Soundcore.com/ Truly-Wireless Earbuds,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MCGZK3B?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share)

u/Rover16 · 2 pointsr/Android

Indeed. I have an anker 15,600 mAh one and it rocks. For a 4 day trip might want a 20k one. These things are the best and I never have to worry about finding a plug.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X5RV14Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1462821412&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=anker+power+core+15600&dpPl=1&dpID=31jovPBpMHL&ref=plSrch

u/willmusto · 2 pointsr/Android

I just use a regular cassette tape auxiliary adapter right now.

These are supposed to be pretty nice, though: https://www.amazon.com/ION-Audio-Cassette-Adapter-Bluetooth/dp/B00I3YLHAC

u/LightKiosk · 15 pointsr/Android

You mean something like this?

SONY seems to have been doing good lately on keeping their OS very lightweight, and they're aiming to be the first manufacturer outside of Google to release 7.1.1 on their devices.

u/darkharlequin · 1 pointr/Android

While I completely agree with you that there needs to be expandable storage, there is a fix around this now that all modern phones have usb host mode and otg cables are available. I just use my standard flash drives that I carry around and a small otg cable.

They also sell otg flashdrives now like this one which has both a standard and micro USB adapter built in that you can just plug directly into your phone.

u/xelf · 1 pointr/Android

I have yet to buy any apps (not counting the hundreds of app of the day paid apps from amazon). I know that doesn't really answer your question, but it's a relevant data point.

Of the apps I picked up for free I would be tempted to pay for:

u/ChangloriousOne · 3 pointsr/Android

Sony is very developer friendly so all you would have to do is spring for an unlocked version.

Then you can simply unlock it and flash a stock rom (even the official sony one once it is released).

I really don't see what you want happening any other way. Sony is probably the only manufacturer that makes small phones that are not downgrades to their flagship parents.

u/Meanee · 2 pointsr/Android

Definitely valid points. I am not too concerned about #1, since I tend not to keep phones much longer than a year (T-Mobile JUMP). As for #2, I got myself this little gadget: http://www.amazon.com/Leef-microSD-microUSB-Connector-Android/dp/B00J2D7R20

It does drain the battery faster than usual, so I copy over my movies to phone from the card. Works wonderfully.

> I'm a Sprint customer

My condolences :-(

  • Removable battery (I have this 3x extended battery)

  • IR blaster

  • SD Card

    What doesn't work

  • Phone bootloops

I have a couple of those. They're rock solid and reliable. Obviously a bit pricier than necessary, but I like Amazon, and $6 or $2 doesn't make a huge difference to me for a cable or two.

http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Slate-EP121-1A011M-12-1-Inch-Tablet/dp/B004HKIIF8

This thing? I suppose it's at least got a capacitive touchscreen...

but it's apparently slow, it's not running a particularly fast SSD and it's got less than 3 hours of rated battery life.

Why would you want that over an Android tablet or an iPad? Transformer Prime with keyboard dock is cheaper and lasts 18-20 hours...

I realize I'm of course biased, but having been inside and outside of Microsoft, I've yet to see them pull off a tablet at all. Especially a pretty one...

u/CSI_Tech_Dept · 1 pointr/Android

Business Calendar, it's paid so maybe you might not want it. I got it when it was app of the day on Amazon, and I like it.

http://www.amazon.com/Mikado-Software-Business-Calendar/dp/B004TTMYQG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=mobile-apps&qid=1313872845&sr=1-1

Here's its Amazon page + reviews. I can't find it on Market for some reason.

u/hooch · 1 pointr/Android

I have 2 Asus Eee Slate tablets sitting around. One is my Win8 test device and the other would be lovely running ICS...if only.

u/blueshiftlabs · 5 pointsr/Android

If you've got wireless charging, the iOttie Qi One Touch mount is fantastic.

u/mmtree · 1 pointr/Android

Thanks! That's actually really interesting, did not know there are two types of wires, rather configurations. I bought these however when I plug my N7 or turbo into the computer, it won't recognize the data but will slow charge. Both phones are recognized with the OEM n7 cable. Maybe I'll recheck the cables, could be that one of the cables is just "bad" (I have 3 of them).

u/iJeff · 1 pointr/Android

Don't get me wrong, I'm actually a big proponent for large and fast internal storage. I'm just saying that 128GB as an option doesn't come cheap and a microSD slot remains a far more affordable alternative. I would've preferred to see 64GB as the base model with the move away from expandable storage but I'm not surprised they didn't.

But yeah, for half the money you could throw one of these into a One M9 and have 160GB total. There are faster cards for around $5 more that do sequential reads faster than a Nexus 5 or S4. They're improving quite a bit.

u/havetolovemusic · 1 pointr/Android

I've read some comments that there is often a 'humming' noise, and many people recommend getting a ground loop isolator. This may not be with this specific device either. Can you comment on this? Thanks!

u/44ml · 2 pointsr/Android

Why not just use a Bluetooth receiver?

I had tried several in my last vehicle, but really liked this one. It has a battery, which seamed to make it more reliable and less glitchy. I kept it plugged in to accessory power, so I had to also use an isolator to filter out the hum you get when you're connected to aux audio and power. It turned off when it stopped charging, so it didn't stay connected. I could also plug it into non-bluetooth speakers and its battery would last several hours.

u/FlareHeart · 2 pointsr/Android

You can buy them from Amazon, and you can download NFC apps from the Play store to help you program them. Easy peasy.

u/MistaHiggins · 2 pointsr/Android
  • Samsung S7 32GB: $672 + tax
  • 128GB MicroSD card (48MB/s): $40 + tax
  • Total space: 160GB
  • Total cost: $720 + tax

    vs

  • Nexus 6P 128GB: $649 + tax

Needing more than 128GB of media on your person at all times is a niche use case, but even for people who do - OTG flash drives exist to allow people to supplement their storage space to watch movies/TV shows while traveling or whatever without requiring them to purchase a phone that has a microSD card slot. Considering restrictions on adoptable storage and 'move to SD' functionality, it is better to have a large pool of main storage instead of being forced to rely on a microSD card right out of the gate due to an anemic amount of internal storage.
u/Tarpit_Carnivore · 10 pointsr/Android

This is called ground loop interference. You can get a cable like this: http://www.amazon.com/PAC-Ground-Isolator-3-5-Applications/dp/B001EAQTRI to remove the noise. Just be aware this may reduce frequencies, like bass, but it will remove the hiss.

u/Christian_Gheighbar · -10 pointsr/Android

So put one of these in your bag and charge your phone/headphones/etc. like fifty times.

u/zanglang · 40 pointsr/Android

Oh hey, there are some good apps in here! Business Calendar 2's pro features get unlocked if you have Business Calendar installed. It's a really good Material designed calendar, and the only one I could find with a fully functional month widget that actually lists out the event titles rather than the infuriating little color blocks that other calendars have.

u/davidgro · 1 pointr/Android

Sure does. Not as bulky as the ZeroLemon I had on my G3.

u/Dork-Bork · 9 pointsr/Android

LG G3 reporting in:

u/thyris · 175 pointsr/Android

i use it with NFC stickers around the house, paired with Trigger I can do all sorts of automation:

  • lay my phone down next to the lamp to start playing music and turn on wifi.
  • slap my phone against the wall as I leave the house to turn off wifi and enable bluetooth (for the car).
  • put it on the counter to enable tethering.
  • etc.
u/tossin · 1 pointr/Android

I'm looking for a decent 10-inch tablet, either Android or Windows 10, mostly for the usual stuff: reading (books, academic papers, comics, manga), browsing, and watching videos. The best budget deal seems to be the ASUS Zenbook 3S 10. However, it has a worrying number of 1 star reviews from verified purchasers (12%) indicating near-DOA malfunctions. Also, it doesn't seem like ASUS is updating from Android 6 anytime soon.

I'm also tempted to spring for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, but it's got less RAM and disk space for over twice the price.

Any suggestions?

u/kash_if · 1 pointr/Android

The advantage with Android is that you can use one of the small external pen drives with micro USB port or use an OTG cable to attach a regular pen drive.

u/da1hobo · 3 pointsr/Android

ProTip: Get yourself one of these. Sure it's not nearly as convenient as having a built in SD card slot but this way if you need a large amount of storage for taking videos or pictures that makes for a decent substitute for the cloud. Plus it carries two cards.

u/dodoburd · 1 pointr/Android

Yeah it should.

One problem I have in my car is that if the phone is charging and playing music through the headphones at the same time, there is a little humming noise that increases with revs of the engine. If you get this issue, you'll need a Ground Loop Isolator.

u/imdandman · 1 pointr/Android

This?

I don't think I need quite that much capacity, but I may go for it since it's only a few extra dollars.

Does it come with an adapter to charge the bank?

u/SpikeyJohnson · 2 pointsr/Android

It would be about $107 cheaper for the samsung listed here or $100 cheaper for the Sandisk. So about $100 for 128 GB instead of double that, plus 32GB onboard. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-128GB-Adapter-MB-MP128DA-AM/dp/B00P3NMVVU/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1427386463&sr=1-2&keywords=128gb+micro+sd+card

u/SakuRedux · 1 pointr/Android

I use this one. Fairly cheap for the size. Especially since it's a Samsung, not a garbage off-brand.

After 2 days of looking at 10" Tablet (8" looks too small) for 350€~ I'm a little bit lost, I'm looking for something that have a good battery, can handle multimedia without problem, not really interested by games and I will buy a bluetooth keyboard to write.

Due to differents taxes in France my choices are between the Asus Zenpad 3S 10 (Asus Z500M) and the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus, both are at 320€~ here in France.

Both of them have pros and cons but I'm not sure if I am in the right or if there is something else better than both of them for my use. I have poor knowledge of phone/tablet environment.

Galaxy Note 4 (nearest comparison I can think of) is $850 USD (http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SM-N910-Factory-Unlocked-International/dp/B00N2Y5ALK). So this is $200 50 less than the nearest competitor.

What am I missing?

u/Claclink · 2 pointsr/Android

no, but i know how audio systems work. ive built tube amplifiers, installed multiple stereo systems in cars before, and i'm an engineer that deals with signal processing. for what you are saying to be true, it would imply your amp in your car has more distortion than the tiny inexpensive amp in your phone. which i guess is possible if you have the shittiest amp/deck ever made. read the first sentence of the link below.

http://www.mediacollege.com/audio/howto/distortion.html

the hissing noise is a separate problem. usually due to a grounding issue. this will probably fix it.

I could use advice on a new 10" tablet.

At some point I'm going to need to replace my ASUS Transformer TF701T.

3 nagging issues are getting to me.

  1. The speakers blew and so I currently keep portable speakers on hand now, but it can be a pain.

  2. I've had it rooted for the last couple years with CM or Katkiss installed... But with the whole Netflix/Playstore thing, I decided to go back to stock... Stock is garbage. 4.4.2 with bloatware and terrible battery life. (I tried Magisk + Katkiss but I'll have to try again to get it working properly)

  3. I always hated that it uses a hard to find 36-pin (I think) connector and ASUS plug. Its overpriced and the knockoffs are terrible. I've tried a few and they're all disposable.

So I'm about ready to move on, but I'm trying to keep it cheap as possible without feeling like I'm downgrading. TF701T really did feel quite amazing running some roms.

    Right now I'm looking at:

    ASUS ZenPad 3S 10

    Samsung Galaxy Tab A

With Quick Charge comes a price tag, but there are plenty of others that can deliver high amperage. Power conversion ratios are a real thing, and reputable power banks should get 75% or more in real-world usage. Shitty cells can lose half their capacity to conversion, which is how you get 3000mAh cells dying after charging an iPhone once.
