Honestly, my best advice would be to invest in a good compressor. I lot of people feel like their tone is dead and not going anywhere of any particular interest until they purchase a compressor. It's the pedal you never know you needed. It will change your life, just like it changed mine.

That said: Keeley Compressor Deep Six and the Diamond are all amazing options. The Diamond is probably a little too bulky for what you want.

But that's what I'd do, if I were you.

Lava cables. They're great. They make a couple of "tiers" higher quality more expensive. I've got the tighropes and I love them. I replaced my george L's with these. Seem to hold up much better and are a lot easier to make as well. Here's an Amazon link for you!

> look at getting something like a Radial ABY switcher

This is probably the issue but he might need more than an ABY because they typically only have a single input. It can help if you put it between your mono and stereo pedals, though. I have this one and it is a premium pedal made in Canada. It can also help if you have phasing issues between the two amps, which is why I bought it.

I would suspect that the ground loop might be eliminated by trying a power receptacle on another wall or from another room. If that doesn't fix it, you may want to buy a more high end power supply with reliable, transformer isolated power jacks and try not to daisy-chain any pedals if you can help it.

The bad news is, the best power supplies are kind of expensive. The good news is, the best ones last forever and you'll never have to worry if it's the problem, or source of noise again.

"dirt" pedals are overdrive, fuzz, or distortion pedals because they 'dirty' up your signal

if you're okay with waiting, used is always the best to go in terms of cost. if not, here's a small list of cheap, simple pedals that work

delay:

tc electronic the prophet

joyo d-seed

boss dd-3

joyo delay

donner yellow fall analog delay

reverb:

mosky spring reverb

tc electronic drip

caline snake bite

behringer dr-600

chorus:

mxr analog chorus

joyo classic chorus

biyang chorus

danelectro fab chorus

volume pedal:

ernie ball

boss fv-50h

power supply:

cs7

mxr iso brick

here's a cheap/basic place to start. since you're going simple, most pedals you come across will honestly work with what you want you want to accomplish, it's mostly down to your budget. if you're looking used, you can't go wrong with MXR, boss, and EHX pedals, they're usually everywhere on the used market

That's why I love the Deep Six Compressor so much. Blend knob is easily the best feature to retain dynamics.

I have the dyna comp and it is great for guitar, but if you don't have a buffered pedal before it, there is huge tone loss in bypass mode. I have tried it out myself, I thought I was going crazy at first with how bad the sound was bypassed, but I tried putting a cheap buffered pedal before it and then everything was fine.

MXR calls it "hardwire bypass" which is a pretty misleading term because it isn't the same as true bypass; basically the signal runs through the pedal if it is on or off, but there is no buffer to compensate for the degradation.

Having said all that, it is a great pedal. It sounds good when it is on, and works fine with a buffer before it in bypass. So, if you have a buffer and don't mind this setup then go for it.

I would also consider the joyo classic comp for a similar sound but cheaper and with true bypass. I haven't tried it out myself, but if I needed a comp I would try that since it is so cheap.

Good news. A little further browsing reveals that the Disaster MultiJack also works with Empress. Unfortunately, you only have the one MultiJack.

I have a Chase Bliss modified MIDIbox from Empress that I connect to 4 Chase Bliss pedals using standard "stereo" tip-ring-sleeve (TRS) cables. I use these golden cables from Monoprice (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009PN2INA/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1511558439&sr=8-16-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=trs+angled+cable&psc=1). I also have a 5th Chase Bliss pedal connected using a 5-pin MIDI to TRS cable from Bestronics (expensive).

The Empress and Meris pedals should be the same deal. You could use regular TRS cables if you're coming out of a properly wired MIDIbox. Or you could get a custom cable to connect to something else (MultiJack, USB, 5-pin MIDI).

Your plan to go thru the Space into a MIDIbox split out to the Empress and Meris should work.

Is there any reason to get a non-isolated power supply over an isolated one?

Also, are power supplies just that; they power multiple pedals at the same time so you don't have to plug in a separate power supply for each pedal?

For example I only have 2 pedals at the moment. Would buying something like this http://www.amazon.com/JOYO-JMP-01-Portable-Power-Supply/dp/B00DR4FDY4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463376760&sr=8-1&keywords=Pedaltrain+Volto power them both with no issues?

Thank you.

EDIT: I currently have a BOSS PSA 120-S adapter. Would using something like this help me power 2-4 pedals at least? http://www.amazon.com/Truetone-One-Spot-Multi-Plug-Cable/dp/B0002GZM00/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463377544&sr=8-1&keywords=1spot+daisy+chain

It'll save me the money of having to buy another power supply.

I think I'm about to make your day.

The El Cap CAN be "converted" to a stereo input: I use mine that way on my board. All you have to do is buy this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000068O54/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And then, before you connect it, open the pedal and change one jumper like it shows here:

http://www.strymon.net/faq/enable-trs-stereo-input-deco/

Done. Now you can just take the stereo outs of your 720 to your two amps.

One thing to note though: I have 3 Strymon pedals run this way (deco, flint and el cap) and for 2 out of the 3, the Hosa cable I got was fine on one input, but the other would NOT let me plug in my lava cable tightrope cable. Probably won't be an issue for you, but it was a giant issue for me.

Anyhow, I hope this helps you.

I actually have an empress echosystem. Maybe that helps in someway? Is this the furman thing you are talking ab? I’d just replace my regular surge protector with it?

Cool! I’m gonna look into all of those! I also really like this reverb.

u/2k4s · 1 pointr/guitarpedals

deoxit is even better for dirty scratchy pots. Also works on battery connectors and anything metal. It's not something you use every day. Depends on the humidity and salt where you live (ocean), how much you gig, if outdoors or not. Lots of fog/snow/bubble machines Etc. Also it depends on the type of metal in your connectors and jacks. If they are dissimilar it increases corrosion (science man!). In the studio it's a once every six months chore if the head tech is cool. Once a month if he's an asshole.

Surprised this doesn't get talked about more on here. Someone who has some oxidization on their pedal/guitar/amp jacks and a decent pair of ears can hear the difference after using a burnishing tool and some Deoxit. if you have oxidized jacks this will improve your tone whereas buying a $50 cable will do absolutely nothing.

u/NotSteveBuschemi · 1 pointr/guitarpedals

Actually it's a production model. If you didn't know that, you're welcome! Check it out http://www.amazon.com/Jim-Dunlop-MC403-Power-System/dp/B003KIL2L0. I would shop around for a price, I was able to get it for around $220.

u/milesdavisjr · 1 pointr/guitarpedals

I would go with the ditto

edit: links doesn't want to work. mile.amazon.com/TC-Electronics-DITTO-X2-Looper/dp/B00HWHSXYE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1420839829&sr=8-2&keywords=ditto

edit 2: whatever haha. i would go with the DITTO X2

u/TuhHahMiss · 4 pointsr/guitarpedals

Unfortunately that will not work. In general, patch cables are TS (Tip-Sleeve) cables, with two connection points on each jack. TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) cables have three connection points, and will be what is needed for use with an expression cable. I have this one and it works perfectly.

Looks like this guy - Ernie Ball VP Jr

u/jonelder1 · 1 pointr/guitarpedals

It is a pedal train! And for the lights I'm using this with a L6 converter that goes straight into my power supply.

u/sir5yko · 1 pointr/guitarpedals

For the crackly jacks, a contact cleaner should work -- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00006LVEU/

u/TTUporter · 1 pointr/guitarpedals

It does it's thing transparently. I bought it purely based off reviews. However, I have never tried it heads up against a real dynacomp.

This thing has my attention: http://www.amazon.com/Joyo-Pipebomb-Compressor-JF-312-Ironman/dp/B00L2QDKIU.

u/MojoMonster · 2 pointsr/guitarpedals

If he doesn't have any other pedals, he just needs another guitar cable. Connect the guitar to the pedal with one guitar cable and the pedal to the amp with another guitar cable and he's set.

If he does have another cable, just get something similar to this.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/guitarpedals

I've seen people use this and power it with a One Spot using this adpater.

I haven't tried it myself.

u/Arousable · 1 pointr/guitarpedals

I have an MXR Iso-Brick and the adapter that plugs into the wall recently stopped working because the wire became exposed. Does anyone know of another adapter that would be compatible with the power supply? I can't find the original model anywhere online.

Edit: Would this one work? https://www.amazon.com/Dunlop-ECB004-Adapter-18V-Barrel/dp/B0002E3FBK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472922734&sr=8-1&keywords=dunlop+18v+power+supply

ok - now I may get down voted into oblivion - but I A/B'd one with a Joyo Dyna Comp (this one http://amzn.to/1wLWDuF) and I could seriously not tell a difference. I know the dyna comp is their take on the Ross but I was shocked. And for ~$30 I was blown away.

Let the downvoting commence

u/Stanleeallen · 1 pointr/guitarpedals

Basically you want to split your effect at the delay, add tremolo to the wet signal. After that you want to add the wet signal back to the dry and run them into your amp, right?

That is essentially running a parallel fx loop. You will need something like this to plug the wet and dry signals back into before continuing the chain into your amp.

This is assuming that you don't want your dry signal to also be effected by the tremolo, otherwise just put the tremolo after the delay to effect both the dry and wet signals.
