> A good surge might still blow up the battery bank, but it should be fine for the off a few seconds s then pulsed back probably 3-4 times type of outage.

Not so sure about that. If the surge was enough to blow the battery bank, then it can still pass that to the cams.

In other words, you really do need a good surge suppressor, so something like this would be better. https://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-Protector-INSURANCE-SK120USB/dp/B00EYCEZLA

I use Kasa switches and love them. Just make sure you have a neutral wire available on your box.

Kasa Smart Light Switch by TP-Link - Needs Neutral Wire, WiFi Light Switch, Works with Alexa & Google (HS200) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EZV35QU/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_IaOpDbAW7H425

That's exciting! If I may make 1 suggestion: mount your sensors with tape for ~a month before using the adhesive. The reason I say this is because I changed my mind on sensor placement several times for either aesthetic or functionality reasons, and it's a pain removing the adhesive and then having to apply more. If you're like me and need more adhesive get 3M mounting tape. Super cheap (~$2.50) at Walmart. I got these

What the other poster already said, it's USB-A -> Micro-USB.

It's only powering 5V DC @ 1000mA.

You're using an indoor device, and an indoor outlet.

If you really wanted to be 'up to code' you'd install an outdoor AFCI / GFCI outlet and a waterproof box like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001JEPX4Y/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You would use the included 1000mA AC adapter and keep it waterproof inside there, making it AFCI GFCI compliant up to 2014 NEC code.

There is no RJ45 -> microUSB and RJ45 -> USB and solution that you're thinking of - the above is the actual 'compliant' method.

A 6-12 foot Micro-USB extension cable that's 12 foot is just fine. If you want to be safe, run it through some conduit for protection.

I 100% agree with you. We don't know which OP is planning to get, but sounds to me like it's more likely the one with plugs.

OP says "...If I buy an adapter for a light bulb socket, to house both a plug and a light bulb,"

But it's probably more convenient to buy the sort you mentioned, so the plug isn't hanging out the side. Would be more expensive though.

This USB one is $20 or so and has been used for Wyzecam.

This simple one is about $6

I have tested with 10 foot and 6 foot extender with success. I purchased these back in 2013. Nothing special about them though, at the time of purchase they were half the price they are listed at now. I also purchased a 25 foot cable that I use to run outside.

You may have to cut the micro-usb shell down on some cords.

Base on a recommendation by Loki on the wyze forum I bought

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B4SHM52/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and they fit fine.

was thinking of broadcasting my own network with a travel router in the room, like this hoo too one.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HZWOQZ6/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00

Essentially setting up the authentication page and wifi from the cruise ship on the hoo too and then connecting the wyze cam to the hoo too.

You can try with the same one that you got with the camera to test and then you would need an USB extension cable like this. Although if the distance is too far then it might not work. So YMMV.

Just something to consider.

Try and plug your Wyze power adapter into a different electrical circuit in your home and also try a different brand of charger into other electrical circuits not controlled by the same circuit breaker. Sometimes a home electrical outlet may not have 110 volts due to various issues, which would result in a lower power output for two Wyze cams to operate when chained together with the line-losses from the two usb cables.

To verify, you need a device to measure the USB power with under load conditions.

Something like this:

From Amazon

USB Meter, DROK Digital Multimeter USB 2.0, Multifunctional Electrical Tester, Capacity Voltage, Current Power Reader with Dual USB Ports, 7 Modes

So I did the same thing with theses : https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DK29K28/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It works just as expected but.. with a brand new contact sensor after about 4 days my battery is showing low.

u/jerstud56 · 1 pointr/wyzecam

No it's not. I have a whole home one for close to $115.

EATON CHSPT2ULTRA Ultimate Surge Protection 3rd Edition, 2.38" Length, 5.25" Width 7.5" Height

I can't fit a Wyze Plug into my outside outlets, but I have another brand that's smaller and it fits entirely inside an "in-use" outlet cover that seals shut (similar to this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JU532B0).

It's been outside over 2 years with no issues.

You deleted your message, but:

Well that's a bummer. If they just don't care, they just don't care. Even if you tell their employer and they get reprimanded, they still probably won't care, except now they hold a grudge. I'd say your best bet is to follow the advice in another comment about reporting to the post master for damage to your mail and send along several video clips. Or screenshots of packages mid-air after a toss if mailing your complaint. Hopefully with enough evidence of repeat behavior, even if it sucks while the person retaliates in between, you can get them removed from that route (or their job that they clearly hate). Maybe order some glass or porcelain items from Amazon. Cheap things you don't even want just to show them smashed on arrival. Like this, butt maybe cheaper.
