Let me help ya out dude. There is a better way to get your cheek riser without tape. You can use the same screws that come with the MOE Rail. Once you have drilled out the holes for the screw, you will have to take a Dremel tool to carve out a 1/16th to 1/8th of wood around the screw hole on the inside of the forearm to counter sink the nuts provided with the MOE rail. Reinstall the forend liner, and BAM, no more hose clamps.

This is the one I bought 5 or 6 years ago and it's great. The cheek rest part is a kind of neoprene that really gives you a good hold and it fits great. Zipper pocket. Super cheap. Winner all day. Got it on Amazon.

Don't really know much about the 597, I do own a 10/22 and I like it well enough. Really, the only mods I plan on doing to my 10/22 would be adding a scope or Tech Sights.
