For Star Wars Day and in memory of Peter Mayhew (RIP), I partially assembled the parts I've been collecting for my Solo Blaster and I think it's coming along nicely. Much thanks to u/DorkHelmet72 for his parts list and inspiration.

If you can't wear fingerless gloves, the next best thing are something like these. Light and breathable and not bulky so you have some dexterity.
I've never found a pair of glasses that won't fog up eventually, so just get some anti-fog wipes or some Cat Crap.
A piece of advice, since you're using a VFG and not the striker handle please upgrade the lower plastic forend rail. The relatively small surface contact are when using a VFG on these guns have been known to snap. This has resulted in people blowing their hand off. https://www.thegunwriter.com/19139/another-devastating-kel-tec-ksg-injury/

Heeeeeey glasses wearers! Last week I raved about silicone temple grips to help keep spectacles from shimmying down the nose and cutting off air supply. This week I'm going to continue on that theme with a couple of anti-fog reviews.
First I tried two home remedies to keep my lenses from fogging up while I run. The first is good ol' saliva. I horked a glob on my lenses, rubbed it around with my finger, gagged a couple of times, and begrudgingly put my glasses on. As soon as my spit dried, my glasses were left with streaks and splotches that were almost worse than the fog that happened before I reached the end of the block.
The second home remedy I tried was dish detergent. I coated a thin layer of dawn on my glasses and lightly buffed it with my tee shirt before setting off on my run. It must have been a self-fulfilling prophecy situation. I was terrified of my sweaty eyelashes rubbing against my lenses and picking up bits of soap to sting my eyes. And that's exactly what happened. Minimal fog, though!
I ordered a couple of products on Amazon to try as well. The first was a generic cleaning wipe that's apparently so generic and worthless, Amazon doesn't remember me ordering them. I've got the box to my left, and yet searching for it on Amazon and checking my order history yields nothing. As far as anti-fog properties, it yielded nothing, too. It did make my glasses pleasantly clean, though.
Up next we have Cat Crap. I was having flashbacks to the dish detergent day when I tried this stuff and my eyes could not stop watering. Or maybe I was sobbing. I don't really recall. What I DO recall is my entire run that day, on the lense I put the Cat Crap on, was so incredibly clear, I could see the reflection of my tears in my lenses if I angled the daylight just right. I ended up looping back to my car to coat a thin layer of Cat Crap on my other lense and buffed it with my tee shirt.
The last product I tried was Jaws Quick Spit. After cleaning my glasses thoroughly (that Cat Crap worked for a couple of days 'cause I'm gross and don't clean my glasses unless they're visibly soiled), I spritzed a bit of Spit on one lense, buffed it clean with my tee shirt. Are you seeing a pattern here with the buffing? It works considerably better with all products if you use a cotton tee over a dri-fit tech shirt. My lense only fogged up in the tiniest streak where I must have missed a spot. By the end of the day, they were right back to fogging when I opened the dishwasher too soon.
The Cat Crap ended up being my favourite for a couple of reasons.
I used a coupon code for brownells for their $30 off. I used a coupon code for midway for $15 off. Midway parts came out to $93.23 and Brownells at the $271. 3D printed an RMR cover. Someone made one specifically for the brownells rmr slide. I had a couple FTF at first but then it shot nicely after that. May have been this gen 2 glock 19 mag I was using I don't know. Pretty happy with it.. will get an RMR at some point. I cheaped out and used all of the frame internals from a Gen 2 Glock 19. Works fine so far.

Cat crap.
I use Cat Crap on my ski googles to prevent fogging.
No, really.
Cat Crap
Let me help ya out dude. There is a better way to get your cheek riser without tape. Get a Allen Company butt stock shell holder: https://www.amazon.com/Allen-Buttstock-Shell-Holder-Rifles/dp/B00162JKH0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1549367405&sr=8-2&keywords=allen+stock+pouch Then go to Home Depot where the weather stripping is, and get some 1inch foam tubing. Cut some pieces of tubing to go in between the Shell holder and stock then tighten it down: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6MP3efi3YJw/XFlyGy8zSgI/AAAAAAAAGIE/a7xpxey4agE8Sj8Bksx08PvZyW7iqTwsACL0BGAYYCw/h1220/double%2Bmini.png And as you can see, I added some rail to the bottom Mini 14 in the picture. You can use the same screws that come with the MOE Rail. Once you have drilled out the holes for the screw, you will have to take a Dremel tool to carve out a 1/16th to 1/8th of wood around the screw hole on the inside of the forearm to counter sink the nuts provided with the MOE rail. Reinstall the forend liner, and BAM, no more hose clamps.
BE WARNED: I own one, finding a front sight post was nearly fucking impossible because of it's stupid gas block height, there isn't a riser on the market that will allow a normal sight post to get up to the same equivalent height as the main upper rail. You won't be able to find a flip up sight or anything that will be the proper height with the rear sight.
The only sight I found that works is an A2 style front post on amazon and it's not perfect but it's the only thing out there that does it. DPMS really ought to either start shipping irons with these or just use a normal height gas block ffs.

Matthew's Fabrication are only $45. They do the same job.
A lot of people are complaining about their shooting glasses fogging up. If that's the case, I can wholeheartedly recommend this product: Cat Crap anti-fog and lens polisher. This stuff works great. I've used it for scuba diving masks, paintball and airsoft masks and my Oakley half-jackets in Iraq. I have yet to find a better product.
CatCrap
Rub it on the inside of the goggles, let dry for 1 minute, then buff off with a microfiber. I use it all year round in Texas so heat and sweat build up in there usually. I have never fogged once I started using it on the inside lens only.
And a tip, if water is beading (But not fogging), it's better to just leave it because in my experience it's less likely to fog when it's beading up.
Still would be safe to get this: https://www.amazon.com/Kel-Tec-Billet-Safety-Lower-Picatinny/dp/B00IA67NQA

I got this pic rail off Amazon along with some quick release scope rings. It all works great and really holds a zero nicely after taking the scope on and off. This pic rail does allow me to see the factory sights bit if they were a hair taller it would be way better. Any suggestions? Extra points if they are fiber optic/fire sight style.

there are a few rails that do allow view of the irons.
this one in particular.
there are a lot that claim to be see through that for all intents and purposes, arent. but i have had it confirmed that the one above keeps the gun usable with irons.
Awesome idea! If you love that person that much more, just had to share a step up from this product without having to know tire pressure: http://www.amazon.com/FOBO-Bluetooth-Compatible-Monitoring-Motorcycles/dp/B00WBD00FO
Added this to my wheels and having pressure and a quick temperature readout in the morning before leaving my kitchen is pretty insanely nifty.

Allen Buttstock Shell Holder and Pouch for Rifles
This is the one I bought 5 or 6 years ago and it's great. The cheek rest part is a kind of neoprene that really gives you a good hold and it fits great. Zipper pocket. Super cheap. Winner all day. Got it on Amazon.

Cat Crap is what most people use, you can buy it at almost any ski shop, your mountain shops should have it too.

Handguard bolt on rails
2 Piece 7inch rail system
Magpul MOE handguard with:
Magpul MOE rail section
Yup. I found an extended front sight on Amazon. I'll try to find it again.

I can't help you with an OEM, but I can tell you I lose those things pretty frequently. I just buy these for $7 off Amazon and keep them in the gun room just in case.
If you're looking for just something for some range fun this might work. Just don't look at it, it hurts my eyes.
https://www.amazon.com/Mako-Universal-Picatinny-Mount-Pistols/dp/B004O6CDV0
I'm using these with these [flags] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D6SYQJZ), works great.
Glad to help. You can usually pick them up for $200 with Ghost Ring sights. I added this mount, this light, and this shell holder. I've put 200ish rounds through it with not a single issue.
Currently for a SHTF scenario I'm using this guide by Creek Stewart to add additional components to make it a more inclusive package.
https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Kydex-Cheek-Rest-Riser/dp/B00G9PN4G2
used this on my LRP, works good
it's got a weird name but it works. Cat Crap
It's basically just a Multicam pattern of this one I've seen the most online, there's a zippered pouch, it fits quite snugly and it's the perfect height for the sights.
I've got nothing better to do right now, so here's a few links.
Long barrel+rotating/collapsing stock
Short barrel+fixed stock
No stock
Short barrel+rotating/collapsing stock
Long barrel+fixed stock
Pros to longer barrel: Possibly give you more range? I'm not sure about this. Cons: Less maneuverable and I usually end up banging it on the window frame when trying to slice a pie.
Pros to collapsible stock: You can turn and maneuver the gun slightly better, do some wanted type shit with curving BB's I guess. Cons: Hex screw is known to get loose and needs to be tightened. You can't press it on your shoulder to cock as it can collapse under the pressure.
Pros to fixed stock: Sturdier, no moving parts. Cons: Can't adjust it, but you shouldn't need to.
Pros to short barrel: Closer to your body and nicer to hold IMO. Cons: None really.
Pros to no stock: Shorter and can be moved and fired more easily. Cons: Having nothing to brace makes pumping harder.
Shotgun kits are a whole new playstyle from an AEG. Everyone with an AEG can outgun you. So you have to play a lot more aggressively, you can't get in long distance firefights. But it's also much more fun and rewarding, in my opinion. You should get something like this, since you don't have a vest to mount a pouch on. Buy a pack of shells. After a while you could get a GBB or AEP (gas or electric pistol) to give you a secondary and something with a higher rate of fire.
This is what I use, and I wear glasses. They're kinda small glasses, and they're not my usual glasses that I use on a regular basis.
I recommend getting Cat Crap to prevent fogging, and removing the foam on the top of the goggles.
I use squash goggles - with prescription lenses. I also use a product called "cat crap" to avoid them streaming up. It's a very catchy marketable product name don't you think!
Seems to work OK for me - and it's perfectly safe.
You can find it on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002BHWZFI/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474003974&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=cat+crap+anti-fog&dpPl=1&dpID=41QJrvPBofL&ref=plSrch
I just ordered the Streamlight Polytac and this mount for under $40. I'm excited, it should be here Saturday. :)
I wanna see it on a pistol using this.
VooDoo Tactical 20-9421001000 Buttstock Cheek Piece With Ammo Carrier, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007FTARKM/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_63gEybN9NRE49
Comes in 4 different colors. Ammo carrier is really just for show for 10/22.
The straps are too long but I folded them over and placed the ammo holder over them. Other redditors have cut the straps and modified by sewing to fit the 10/22 better. I don't have a sewing machine and can't sew by hand so not really a option for me right now.
I like the cheek rest though my eye lines up with the scope perfectly now. There may be a better fitting one out there for a 10/22 haven't really looked though.
Two suggestions: apply cat crap to your goggles so they don't fog up, or get some non-splash goggles (you don't honestly need splash protection for most lab work) like these ones I wear in lab.
if you want to add a reflex sight/red dot, it limits you to the Ruger Mk 3/4 versions with a top rail and the browning buckmark versions with rail. You might also be able to add an optic to the Beretta Neos U22 and the CZ75 with kadet kit.
The CZ75 with added Kadet kit would be the priciest option (probably around 800) but will give you a modifiable 22 conversion thats also a top 9mm.
You cant really attach any any optics to the slide of the S&W M&P22 compact, the Ruger SR 22 or the Walther P22 as it would negatively impact cycling. You could attach optics using an underbarrel rail mount but not the most convenient option (https://www.amazon.com/Mako-Universal-Picatinny-Mount-Pistols/dp/B004O6CDV0).
Overall id say the Ruger MK4 versions give you the most flexibility for the best price. If you dont care about optics the S&W M&P22 compact is also a very good deal.
I use Cat Crap. REAL NAME, PLEASE DON"T AUTO DOWNVOTE! I couldn't think up a troll that good. Use on my glasses to prevent fogging in fall months. Effective for about a week if I don't wipe it off too strenuously.
Bought it originally when I was dirt poor and scratched a glasses lens pretty deep, pavement fall. Visible groove. Didn't remove it, but did make it a lot more acceptable. Also cleared up all the low level scratches I had.
Motorbike rider friend says they use it on helmets for sweaty fog and branch scratches.
The reason a vert grip is considered unsafe is the pressure applied to only a small surface of the considerably weak picatinny rail on the pump. The grooves will break with enough leverage, provided the stress isn’t displaced throughout the entirety of the pump. That’s why I recommend this: https://www.amazon.com/Kel-Tec-Billet-Safety-Lower-Picatinny/dp/B00IA67NQA
A good defogging agent is catcrap. It's for skiing but I use it for airsoft. I use the paste, can't say anything about their new spray.
link if you want it.

My first recommendation is to get contacts and only wear them on days when you cycle or do other sports that are eyewear restrictive.
Before getting contacts, this was a HUGE issue for me, luckily some products help immensely. I used to have a pair of glasses with perscription inserts which I treated with a product called Cat Crap. It is a wax based treatment for your glasses that makes them hydrophobic.
Today, I use contacts and I have a rain pair of sunglasses treated with the stuff above. Water rolls off them kind of like a car windshield treated with RainX.
As far as contacts go, I concur with u/w0ss4g3 try out multiple brands of contacts. I settled on biofinity, the ones you CAN wear for a month but I take them out every day and clean them with hydrogen peroxide solution. I had to try 5 different brands before I found a lens that worked with my eye shape and use.
I have that exact bipod. It does great for sighting in my rifles.
I also have this on my 10/22 that lets me clip on a semi-permanent bipod to the bottom, and a lazer or flashlight to the side. I love it. This one is metal.
There's another one that's polymer but it doesn't have the sling loop in it, which I really wanted.
Combined with a butler creek folding stock, it's a very nice package.
Don't use Windex or Rain-X, as both could damage your visor (YMMV). Instead what I've used is either diver's mask anti fog (you can find it at any sports store or online) or better yet Cat Crap. I found with the diver's anti fog I had to reapply every 2 days, while with the Cat Crap I could reapply every 3-4. Be careful when applying, as it takes a bit of practice to really get just the right amount and buff it to a shine.
You might also need a new visor if you've used Windex or Rain-X; some visors just react badly to the chemicals (for whatever reason). On the outside try Turtle Wax, inside use Cat Crap, cross your fingers and pray. If all else fails get a breath box; they are pretty cheap depending on your helmet.
Edit: On Pinlocks, I checked a few out and (This is just my opinion, YMMV) felt that they distorted around the edges too much.
Voodoo Tactical cheek Rest
Had one of these on my 17, its comfortable, fits well, and is adjustable. And its cheap. Pic of it on my gun.
It works great! I got this one: MSP Ruger 10/22 Long See-Through Scope Mount - Mil-Spec Picatinny. BLACK https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003JHQO6A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_k2sFDbHAPDVWS
Here is a crappy pic: https://imgur.com/a/Xx8O6Il
I typically get anti glare coatings on my lenses but I've never heard of anti fog for regular glasses. I'm also in the camp that pretty much always wears contacts to the gym and regret it any time I don't.
If you want to keep the glasses, you could look into applying your own anti fog coating. A runner friend uses some stuff called "cat crap" that he said works pretty well except in super cold temps. No, I'm not joking on the name of the stuff - Amazon link for cat crap.
Cat crap. I use it on my ski goggles. It works great
Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0052FKS6Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_o.IRybS35RN0R

Looks like this one, but it's currently unavailable.
Apparently it has really sketchy reviews: http://www.amazon.com/Mako-Universal-Picatinny-Mount-Pistols/product-reviews/B004O6CDV0/
I sure do:

Standard bead sights should be fine. Practice shouldering the gun, getting your cheek planted on the comb, and lining up on a target. The idea with shotgun shooting is that you shouldn't be aiming at all, and you certainly shouldn't be using the sights. You should be comfortable enough with your gun and your hold that you know that wherever you are looking, that's where the gun is aimed.
You may need make adjustments to the comb for this to become a reality. I like the Wrapid Comb as an affordable option for comb adjustment. It comes with a selection of pads that act like shims under the neoprene wrap. Select a shim or a combination thereof to raise your cheek enough that your eye lines up right down the barrel. And if you already have a buttstock shell holder, you can just buy the shim set to produce the same effect.
No but i just got one of these off amazon for 7 bucks, works great.
I bought the front sight from amazon and same for the flip up sight
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007FTARKM/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The straps are a little long but not bad. Also it's adjustable but by that it means there's a roll of foam in it that you cut off a little at a time until it's where you want it. It's got a nice little pouch which I'll end up putting a dope card in and it's also got a shell holder. Both held on with Velcro.
And for $16 it's solid
I bought it off Amazon

There's the link of you're interested. I thought the price was reasonable, personally. Quality leather too.
I think that 'Glock tactical scope mount' relies on the relative position of the factory Glock gen 3 and 4 rail to the frame. It looks like there's a little rod that needs to go through the Glock's frame, replacing one of the pins. If the Gen 1 & 2 picatinny mount put the rail in exactly the same place that Glock puts the factory gen 3 and 4 rail, it'll work, otherwise it won't.
The other product I linked earlier (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004O6CDV0/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944579862&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0010DQ21M&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1WK5WS27TRXVXF65KQJ3) will work with the gen 1 and 2 picatinny mount.
Again, I warn you: this is going to be a frustrating project, and the people on the internet will think it is silly when you show it to them.
Amazon for $6 thread protectors pack of 2.

Lethal-Eye Glock Barrel Thread Protector 1/2x28 Black 9mm 357 Sig 11mm Length, fits Lone Wolf and Other Threaded Barrels
You might want to try a different antifog treatment. I've heard a lot of good things about Cat Crap. I think your best course of action is to fight the fog rather than unnecessarily downgrading in eye protection.
https://www.amazon.com/Allen-Company-Buttstock-Shell-Holder/dp/B00162JKH0/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1465559264&sr=8-4&keywords=stock+pack works great. very solid on the rifle.
I got one of these http://www.amazon.com/Picatinny-Barrel-Band-Ruger-10/dp/B004O9AGSE and just used one of the cheap bipods I had from my AR-15 un-tactification.
Hey, if it works for you then who am I to argue? :)
The only thing that I put on my stock 500 is one of these. They are cheap and handy to have on the stock for quick reloads.
Try cat crap on your glasses.
It's not actually cat poop, it's a great but poorly named product.

For under $100, you're probably better off getting a Magpul MOE handguard, and separate MOE rail sections.
Daniel Defense EZ Car drop-in's are also pretty nice, but run about $160.
It's a Vodoo Tactical, got it from amazon.ca
Edit: https://www.amazon.ca/Voodoo-Tactical-Padded-Stabilizer-Rifle/dp/B007FTARKM
There's a few options. If you want something that will keep your gun in factory condition, you can get a picatinny rail mount. You could also get a dovetail mount that would take the place of your rear sights like this. However, my recommendation would be to send your slide to the folks at Jagerwerks, or somewhere similar, and have your slide milled for the red dot you want. I personally recommend the milling route if it's in your budget. And, if you can't afford couple hundo for JW, IMO you can't afford a red dot. The difference between a custom milled slide with Trijicon RMR vs. a dovetail mounted lower end red dot is palpable.
I really like my iron sights but they've very tall. That's why I have High rings on my scope which are quick detachable. But now I have no cheek weld when using my scope.
So I need a cheek riser.
I'm looking at this. It would be nice because I could quickly adjust it up and down depending on if I'm using irons or scope. https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Kydex-Cheek-Rest-Riser/dp/B00G9PN4G2
But the magpul x22 takedown and the new backpacker version are really cool. I know that the magpul has different cheek height pieces but from what I've seen they're not really very high.
I already have the magpul stock for my shotgun. It's awesome. I got the extra set of high cheek rests so that I can use my red dot. It's awesome.
Does anyone have the magpul x22 and the cheek riser pieces? Could you maybe measure it somehow to let me know how high it goes?
Everyone always states for me to get contacts. But I honestly despise them. I was recommended cat crap for lenses.

I too found that the stock is a bit short, so I added a 1 inch pad to mine. I think it made it just the right length.
Alternatively, you could spend some money and get a nice new American stock that counts as two 922r pieces.
One of these universals might work. https://www.amazon.com/Mako-Universal-Picatinny-Mount-Pistols/dp/B004O6CDV0
That way you dont lose your rear sight. These have fallen out of favor, but they do work.

Here's one that I have.

I use a Streamlight PolyTac 8850 on a Monstrum Tactical Offset Mount. The light is 275 lumens and pretty well focused, looks like this. The price is right, too.
Ok awesome, that's great to hear. How do you like the stock? I've heard that's the thing I've heard that people don't like. I was thinking about getting the Boyds Tacticool stock. I also thought about getting a cheek riser and painting the stock myself.
Would using something like this upside down work?

Hi Tech makes a metal one: https://www.amazon.com/Kel-Tec-Billet-Lower-Picatinny-Vertical/dp/B00IA67NQA That and the extended tube switch are pretty much must do upgrades.

I got one of these off a buddy for free and threw it on my 10/22 before switching it over to a cheap .223 bolt gun. The ammo carrier velcros on. https://www.amazon.com/Voodoo-Tactical-Adjustable-Buttstock-Carrier/dp/B007FTARKM
The actual cheek rest is a piece of dense foam rolled into a cylinder, so it's easy to cut it down to whatever height you need.
I put the voodoo tactical one on it. Works well

I can have standing water inside my goggles, but they will never fog.
Don't really know much about the 597, I do own a 10/22 and I like it well enough. Really, the only mods I plan on doing to my 10/22 would be adding a scope or Tech Sights.
you mean a Rifle Stock Pouch?

the only caniks that come optic ready are the sfx and the elite combat, and elite sc. you would have to have the slide milled to accommodate a plate, then could probably use a plate from any of those other 3 models.
edit: you could do something silly, and put one of these Mako Universal Picatinny Rail Mount Fits Most Pistols on
I'm really enjoying this length of pull that feels optimized for someone 4' 11", I'm liking the look of this butt pad, anyone know if it's any good.

This wouldn't work?
Cheap voodoo tactical I found on amazon I modified to actually work really well!

Yes, Magpul L5, Polymer. They are very cheap on Amazon
I believe I bought this magpul L5
If I need one for a carbine length upper would this one be fine?
Mako Universal Picatinny Rail Mount might handle the RMR, looks like some people have had trouble with it shaking loose under recoil. Bonus: it would probably add enough clearance for the TLR-1HL and Osprey to co-exist.
That's an incredibly good deal and a great gun. I have one and it is my first and only AR. No regrets at all! If you want a really cheap way to mount a light to it, you can get this on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003F6IQEI/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1480275814&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=picatinny+rail&dpPl=1&dpID=31D45Qah33L&ref=plSrch. It's $8 and really easy to install. It allowed me to mount my TLR1 on the bottom of my AR without having to buy a quad rail!

If the rail is for a hand grip, you can just get this Magpul MVG (not the RVG) and that can attach straight to the hand guard (follow this video). But, if you plan on putting anything on the side, get a couple of these and follow pretty much the same steps as you would attach an MVG.
It's a Voodoo tactical cheek riser from Amazon. Don't tell anyone I bought it there...
