Is there a massive difference between a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4gb vs a GeForce GTX 1060 3gb in terms of performance? In other words,is it worth the extra 60$ for the GeForce GTX 1060 3g?

(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KMVHB6M/ref=twister_B01KJGWHIM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 vs https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137055#top for example?)

This would be for a 27inch 1440p 144hz monitor utilizing a Intel - Pentium G4600 3.6GHz Dual-Core Processor with 8gb ram

So Newegg fucked up my 1060 order and sent me the wrong card (Non-SC single fan 1060). Now the SC single fan card I wanted is no longer at the low price it was when I ordered, and I can't get one on return because they said I can't. I'm trying to decide if I should just keep the worse card since I got it for its normal price (honestly I'm sick of newegg's shit since they got bought), or if I should head over to amazon and get the gigabyte single fan 1060 or the asus dual fan card. Any thoughts?

So i'm currently trying to run with this build, will be using dual monitor and i have found a cheapish-GTX 1060 graphics card at my local computer store for $210, I originally planned to get an RX470, but i've heard that AMD has really bad UI, customer service and a few other things i cant remember off the top of my head.. I have the little bit of spare cash for the 1060, and i probably would prefer a 1060 anyways, unless these rumors arent true.. This is the 1060 i would be getting And this is the RX470

try out this GPU. I use the model up and it kills everything.

if he is just using the rig for gaming ditch the hhd and stick with a slightly bigger ssd.

The PSU seems a little big for what this rig will be so you could shave off some money from that.

Looks like the GTX 560 Ti supports a max resolution of 2560x1600. If you'd like to run at 3440x1440 it looks like it might be worth it to invest in a new graphics card. Wouldn't need anything crazy fancy, hell you can grab a GTX 1060 for under $250 if you shop around and you'll be set for quite a while.

u/PhilipK_Dick · 2 pointsr/overclocking

I'd say spend the $30 on the cooler since the CM 212 is very good. There are better coolers, but they are significantly more expensive (~$80) and the value/performance increase isn't big enough to justify going for the ~$80.

For the GPU, in that range you have two options: RX 470 or 1060 GTX 3gb.

If you are going to game at 1080p resolution (with that processor, you should), today you can get the 1060 3GB:

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-GeForce-Dual-Fan-Graphics-DUAL-GTX1060-O3G/dp/B01KMVHB6M/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1472935295&sr=1-5&keywords=1060+gtx+3gb

For $224.

The RX 470 is currently $200

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-RX-470-Radeon-GAMING/dp/B01JS9F9K4/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1472935536&sr=1-4&keywords=rx+470

You can find a million arguments for and against AMD and NVidia but to sum it up, the 1060 has slightly better performance but a smaller amount of VRAM which may or may not matter in a handful of resource hogging titles.

The RX 470 could theoretically perform slightly better in future DX12 games, but that hasn't proven to be true yet.

Both are good cards IMO.

In a couple of months, the prices will go down and you would be able to choose between a 1060 6GB for $250 and a RX 480 for $200. The argument between those cards is the 1060 performs slightly better but some think the 480 will eventually perform better in dx 12 games.

Same thing - both are good cards.

There ya go my man. All under $400. These are about the cheapest I could find. Be aware that two of them are the 3GB variant and one is the 6GB

This one is a "mini" version. Not a big sexy beast but gets the job done all the same.

The single fan gtx 1060s are good enough, they dont clock as high but they dont really get hot.

You can save $10 on this card:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KMVHB6M/?tag=pcpapi-20

Its under 10" but its 5.12" wide, so make sure it can in the case.

I use [this] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KMVHB6M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_uIj3DbFWCEC6J) video card and didn't have problems running Rift games.

I switched from a Rift to a Quest, and using the Link cable it's relatively the same experience. However, I bought a Rift after my switch and have enjoyed both on the same video card.

I am new to this whole thing and still trying to learn the ropes of building my own PC. After some research on here and advice from friends, I decided to start with a GPU and go for around 1060 with a budget close to $300.

There seems to be a lot of deals going on right now on those, and I am so overwhelmed by the different options and don't understand the difference. Are they normally on discount like that and I should be more patient for a better catch? Is this the best time to buy? I don't know what the price history really is or the market.

Here are some current options I am considering, and know fuck all about the difference:

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

6.

Those are the Asus GTX1060 3GB

u/Morbesityy · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Asus OC 1060 3gb is exactly what you need. I boight this a few months ago and have never made a better purchase in my life :)

So basically, The MB and CPU I have are bottom line and to upgrade would to swap everything and start fresh? I cant keep this MOBO at all?
If thats the case, What parts can I look into that are comparable to high end that wont completely break me?(even if I have to buy in pieces) Im sure that Ryzen 5 is great, but there is better for a decent price, no?

And tell me about it. I started to figure that out when I asked for help. The kid is smart and has a killer rig, but apparently he likes to give me the run around. He recommended [this] (https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-04G-P4-6253-KR/dp/B01MF7EQJZ), going on to say that he runs a [GTX 1060] (https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-03G-P4-6160-KR/dp/B01KUADE3O/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1536664980&sr=1-2&refinements=p_89%3AEVGA%2Cp_36%3A1253506011) in his and that I should spring for that if I have the extra cash.
I dont know any more. Those are both in my price range, but I cant help but feeling like there is better for the same price, like [this one for example] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KMVHB6M/ref=psdc_284822_t1_B01KUADE3O). What would you personally recommend on this? I just dont know much about building yet, and I cant trust me self to make a good decision when it comes to these things, which is why I posted in the first place. I feel so cheated.

I appreciate all the advice and info. I get the feeling you arent going to give the run around so any personal recommendation are great. You have been awesome. Thank you.

Excuse me not $209 its $220 but here is the link Asus GTX 1060 3gb

It outperforms the 480 by like 10 fps in games.
