This is kind of a neat idea. The biggest problem you face is that 250W @ 12V = 21A.

It's important to get a good power supply as well, as crappy ones will introduce hums and other unwanted noise into your system.

Don't forget to size the wires accordingly as well for 30A. There's a reason car audio has such thick wires. If you were using 120V then you only need 2.2A

You can indeed use a computer power supply as a cheap way of getting 12V. You will have to do some tricks to make the power supply thinks there's a computer hooked up to it, but there are guides. There are even kits.

Or you can just buy a 12V power supply. The instruction manual says the amp draws 33 amps max, so a 12V 30A supply is probably good and it's the same price as the kit for converting an ATX supply.

Do be careful hooking things up, though, for safety and equipment protection reasons.

As for audio connections, if the receiver has a dedicated sub output, I'd use that.

Been buying these Chinese switching supplies off Amazon for about $20...20-30 AMP and using them on almost all my home based VHF/UHF gear and even running a HF station with one...they are surprisingly quiet...just add power cord.

The quanums v2's can run on 2s lipos, so any cheap 2s lipo in the 500mah+ should do the trick. These nano-techs 850mah 2s works well and gives decent power time.


For charging, I personally like the Turnigy Reaktor it can do 10A, plus this 12v power supply and a parallel charging board, you can quickly charge 4 or 5 lipos at once. In the future if you plan to get another Reaktor charger, you can hook it up to the same power supply. I have 3 Reaktors hooked up to my power supply.

On a cheaper end, this B6AC can do 6A and doesn't require a separate power supply.
