What kind of maniac doesnt have a deluxe footpedal macro suite for all their possible pathetic keyboard presses?

u/doggify · 7 pointsr/Vive

Bass pedal input is implemented through a USB foot switch. Something like this. They are essentially one-key keyboards. Mine, for example, maps to B.

If you have one, you just hit it in the main menu then the game will recognize it. The notes will then appear as orange lines on the HUD, like Rock Band.

Might be able to use something like this? Not Bluetooth, but would work if you have a USB port.

Says it's configurable, so you'd just have to configure it to output a 'SPACE' or 'Right Arrow' or whatever works with the PDF reader you are using.

u/t-had · 4 pointsr/Competitiveoverwatch

I'm fairly sure it was this and I was wrong about the price.

Bad reviews but mine has been fine and it was only 20 bucks.

u/the_gum · 3 pointsr/Overwatch

are you able to use your feet? maybe you could use something like this http://amzn.com/B008MU0TBU to extend what you can do simultaneously.

edit: i just see that you play on console. maybe you should consider switching to pc gaming: there's generally a lot more customization possible, additional peripherals available (like what i linked above) or 3rd party tools e.g. for macros or voice control

Hotkeys to my knowledge, there are some games that have plugins I think that can hook certain cutscenes directly into the timer to change them but I'm pretty sure a lot of streamers and serious speedrunners actually rig up something like this and use it as a split button

it also works with usb foot pedals like these : https://www.amazon.com/USB-Foot-Switch-Keyboard-Pedal/dp/B008MU0TBU

10 bucks on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/USB-Foot-Switch-Keyboard-Pedal/dp/B008MU0TBU

Sure it's only a single button but we're talking about using it for ptt. Not writing a novel with your toes.

I’ve heard good things about these Massdrop x Sennheiser (basically a cosmetic overhaul of the HD650s) headphones. They’re 199.99 USD if you can’t see the price.

For gaming I personally use a Blue Yeti desktop mic, with one of these as my push to talk button:

https://www.amazon.com/USB-Foot-Switch-Keyboard-Pedal/dp/B008MU0TBU

My speakers are Klipsch powered monitors (R-15PM) connected to a Polk subwoofer.

I don’t really like wearing headphones unless I have to, as I find them to make my ears warm after a while and become uncomfortable. When I do have to wear a headset because I’m unable to blast my audio for whatever reason, late at night for example, I use a Sennheiser PC gaming headset (PC373D), its served me well for a long time with light use.

u/scouto · 2 pointsr/EliteDangerous

I know that's how they are used in planes but for elite I'd have them for forwards / backwards ;)

These are the sort of super cheap route I was talking about though.

I had the same situation as your bro but the mouse hand which is the worse one to break imo. Look into the total war series.

Also look at this $8 usbfoot pedal. He can use his foot to press a button which can be set to any key. Once he is back to CSGO he can use it as the push to talk button. Great $10 additional to your pc.

Also a mmo mouse with 12 keys that his right thumb can press. He can keybind it to any key. I have razer naga and the additional buttons are great for all games including fps.

If you don't mind my asking, how much of your left arm do you have? If your wrist is still there, then maybe you could look into giving these guys a shout. If you could find a way to operate a mouse -or a trackball- with your left arm (I suspect that would be a challenge depending on your dominant side) you'd be able to dedicate your right hand to buttons on the numpad.

If you're not able to operate a mouse/trackball with your left arm, you mentioned you used your left arm for just the spacebar. Maybe you could wire up a bunch of these to a board and map them to abilities/ults.

Most options for you would involve some DIY work, but the one that would require the least taking apart and building of gadgets, and would probably give you the best performance would be the following:

Operate a trackball with your left arm, and use foot pedals mapped to right and left click (which you might have an easier time using your left and right foot for, respectively), while using a keyboard/numpad with your right hand.

I realize that to move your left arm over a trackball for long periods of time you'd need some serious forearm strength. Maybe you could look into a super simple prosthesis if you don't have one, just to provide you with more surface area to run across the ball.

If I had more technical skills/ resources I would look into building something for you as it's a project I'd be very interested in, but at the moment I'm not capable of doing so.

I hope these ideas might help you out a bit. I expect that learning to operate a trackball will be very difficult, but if you build the muscle memory I suspect you'd be almost entirely unimpeded while using the above setup. Let me know if this helps at all. I wish you the best of luck.

Sorry to hear about your pain. Going to make a mental note about the Tiger Balm as my wrists are just starting to show symptoms.

Oooh, Foot Triggers! Now that's a interesting idea -- I would have never thought of that! Thanks for the idea and lateral thinking! I see you can even get a cheap one for $10.

u/tsoliman · 2 pointsr/RetroPie

It's too bad it needs a (windows-only) driver. I wanted a regular HID usb keyboard pedal for that cheap. No driver needed.

EDIT: this one seems to need windows to program it but then it is a regular HID keyboard in Linux/whatever.

u/Docteh · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

USB foot switch? I was going to link some random parts for putting one together, but I did a google search and of course they exist as a product.

u/g9k · 2 pointsr/wow

Here's a pretty cheap option: https://www.amazon.com/USB-Foot-Switch-Keyboard-Pedal/dp/B008MU0TBU

I've been pondering a bit about how you could make a fully functional setup using only your right hand and your feet...

If you had 3 foot pedals, you could bind two of them for strafe, scroll wheel to jump, and use the standard both mouse buttons for forward. That way you would only lack backpedalling, but a lot of ppl unbind that anyways...

For spells you would use the sidebuttons on the naga and the last pedal as a modifier, to have a total of 24 hotkeys.

This setup would probably require a bit of practise for the right hand, and a way to make sure the pedals don't slip around on the floor :)

Edit: Kinda unrelated to wow, but check out this right handed keyboard from Maltron: http://www.maltron.com/component/content/article/11.html :D

> I bind my discord/VOIP program mute mic/headphones

I used a foot pedal for my push to talk. This one I think, on Amazon. However, I've got a set of rudder pedals coming, which take both my feet. You sir have solved my problem.

Now all I need to do is get Ol' Left Pinky trained up!

u/GGGenom · 2 pointsr/electricians

Ohhhhhh... Well, that's slightly less insane, but hell of a lot trickier. If you're trying to use a momentary contact switch as a computer input, the shape of the plug is the least of your challenges. You could always buy a working solution, but that's not as much fun.

Something I'm looking into at the moment to fill the time is typist transcribing. basically listening to audio and typing it up.

Here's some websites to help:

https://takenotetyping.com/careers/

https://www.peopleperhour.com/site/register?rfrd=354611.1

https://www.uktranscription.com/3/

Protip: better be fast at typing, also you'll need some pedals .

People complain that they don't get paid much per hour but a combination of the above and in some cases you'll earn around £15 per hour.

The only difficulty is either bad audio files (quiet talkers, people talking over each other) or not getting enough work when you're available. I've heard that my second two links are better companies to work for than Takenote.

Hope it helps my dude.

u/sammymammy2 · 1 pointr/RSI

Yeah, I've had that, still do sometimes. I've found nothing with training helps that specifically, deadlifts makes my hands feel really good (and maybe that includes my forearms, so try that). I'd massage, stretch and rest if I was you. If you can't take a break from work for 2 weeks of no computer usage, then you'll need to make changes in your workspace so you do mouseclicks in other ways.

A guy at work had one of these wired to alt-tab. Pretty ingenious...he used it for gaming, but I suppose there are other uses too.

Use that and reasign spacebar to the pedal with a macro program.

u/spyroz541 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

This should do as the squashball in australia
as for the DIY clutch, it was a USB Pedal

the USB pedal looks a bit crappy, but it actually does the job, really well! you can also do some DIY of yourself to connect it to the DFGT pedal set and make it sideways so it matches position of the other pedals. Or maybe buy a metal pedal face, and then some type of stand/holder, attach that to the usb pedal, and stick on some plastic/metal base and add the metal pedal on top and that will make an actual pedal! but with short travel. It's a really good option for those who don't want to spend lots of $$$ on a new pedal set.

Here is a foot pedal for PC. I'd recommend putting the "macro" to Insert key, that normally doesn't have any kind off functionality in a game.

Something like this, bound to your Q key. It would allow you to use your foot to charge those abilities with decent precision. Amazon has multiple options, including this one which specifically mentions helping people with disabilities in the description.

I bought this for $10 from Amazon recently. Used for when I'm playing my Nintendo switch on one of my monitors but still want to talk to my discord friends. I have a train track in my yard, with 90+ trains a day on average so voice activity wasn't an option. When I'm playing pc games, I just use a mouse side button.

u/fierostetz · 1 pointr/mwo

hehe i bound a usb foot pedal for my jj's (like 12 buck on amazon!) and the lulz are endless. keyboard's still probably a better idea, but i like STOMPING my jumpjets. here http://www.amazon.com/USB-Foot-Switch-Keyboard-Pedal/dp/B008MU0TBU
its like a really crappy guitar pedal. NOT GOOD FOR GAMEPLAY. But super FUN :D - need to use it as a trigger for a chair mounted transducer or something so you can really FEEL those jj's

u/Ludacon · 1 pointr/gaming

Back in the day i used to have a foot pedal couple with some software that did virtual desktops in windows. So when the boss came around i just moved my left foot forward to click and it switched to the Virtual desktop with my actual work on it.

Worked great until eve locked up in the background mid transition.

u/IA_Kcin · -2 pointsr/videos

I'm not 100% sure on this, so watch it and make your own conclusions, but if you watch the video carefully, right around 25 seconds when the camera comes down, you can see his left leg lifting in time with the keyboard tapping. Now it may just be coincidence, but he could be using a USB foot pedal to launch the calculator. Not saying it's definitely happening, but it's a possibility.

Something like this:
