Hum, those Nidec's are on Amazon These ones specifically. I did a bit of math, they would provide about 3.62mm/H20 vs Noctua 3.94 mm/H20

I have now used the In Win 301 in a few builds. Some have used all 4 fans, while others have just used just the power supply and the rear 120 mm. When not using the front fans, I have blocked back flow with closed-cell foam or packing tape.

In the back I have used Noctuas and GentleTyphoon fans.

I used this: http://www.redseafish.com/hardware/reef-spec-carbon/ . I have two Nidec Servo Gentle Typhoon high static pressure fans : https://www.amazon.com/Nidec-Servo-GentleTyphoon-120mm-D1225C12B6ZPA-64/dp/B017UX9DRA one each side of the filter.

I finally got to test it with temperature monitoring today. It wasn't moving enough air to keep the case cool. I think this is down to the fine granularity of the carbon so i'm going to try some different carbon.

I have two cree cob LED's ( cxb3590 ) in the case which generate a fair amount of heat.

I'm not sure how thick the carbon layer really needs to be top stop all of the smell - It's 5cm in this version as that's what someone else did in a case build.

https://www.3dhubs.com/ allows you to upload a model and get a quote from people in your area for printing. Some are quite cheap.

Edit: This was the inspiration for the filter design (scroll down there's a diagram of the design) :

This is another I might try. This must give more airflow as most commercial filters are this shape.

Which sheets were you going to use?

OP. Dump that fractal radiator fan and get a Nidec Gentle Typhoon.

It’s the best black fan you can get since the A12 hasn’t been released.

Thank you. This is great advice.

> Gentle Typhoons (aside from being discontinued by Scythe)

You might want to make sure you get your facts straight first, before proffering a mistaken opinion.

Scythe never made Gentle Typhoons, so it wasn't something they could "discontinue". They distributed them for a while, before choosing not to continue to do so. Gentle Typhoons are still being built and sold today, but are now distributed by the company that always made them: Nidec Servo:

I have one system full of NF-F12s and another full of Gentle Typhoons. The Nidec fans are quieter and perform better, as tested on the exact same hardware in the exact same environment.
