If the motors run they are probably OK. What happens with these a lot is the gear plugs get old and fail. These are three little rubberish plugs that go between the inner and outer part of the gear. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000CO96SG is the official replacement part though I've used tons of other things to replace them.. You can usually find those in the HELP section of your local parts store.

The real gotcha is getting the motors out and back in but it looks like that may be covered already. Once you get it out open the housing and clean all the old plug remnants out and clean out the old grease. Regrease and new plugs and you are ready to go. I would clean up the tracks and regrease them as well since you are already in there.

This is most likely a cheap fix. The window motor in these cars contains a plastic gearset, with three plastic slugs that transfer power to the window regulator. These are there to make a "soft" connection that extends the life of other parts in the system, but over the years they slowly turn to mush.

You can get a set of them for a couple bucks.

You might hear people telling you to replace the plugs with something metal about the same shape. DON'T DO THIS. Replacing the plugs every now and then is much better than replacing the window regulators.

Spend like $50 for one off amazon and have it shipped quickly. Being able to roll up your window 3 weeks sooner is worth the extra $30 to me.

If you have a helpful friend, some basic tools, and an hour of time you can fix it for $50.

I had mine go out on two different Bronco's I just went to Pull-A-Part and ripped another one from there, took it apart and replaced the little plastic spacers. They have the spacers at autozone, and i did have to grind them some but they worked great. I also suggest getting some Wago clips for the wires, it makes the install and removal a lot easier.

Changed mine a few months ago. This is the part I ordered and everything worked as it should.

Hey I had the same issue with my old one I replaced the clips 3 times and it kept breaking so I bought this the whole panel part it's simple to install just tape the window up. Hopefully this helps
This is also way easier to replace then the clips the new clips and everything you need is there. Just take the old one off and screw the new on one and slide the window on. The speaker you need to find 4 nuts and bolts to put it back on there is clips that hold it in and the only way to remove the speaker is to drill out the clips. I watched a you tube video :)

Maybe, if you took everything apart, but no not easily. It's behind the door panel and not reversible.

It could be this. The part can still be found on Amazon

Hey buddy. Do it yourself it is not hard. I did mine a month ago, took me about an hour, you can buy the part relatively cheaply on amazon (mine was very well built when I received from amazon). If you have the most basic of tools and a couple hours of free time save yourself some money. This vide on youtube will show you step by step instructions on how to do it. Good luck.

I bought a kit similar to this from rosenthal (which doesn't seem to exist anymore).
