Try AHA+BHA and hydrocolloids for a while for the scars. I use to do this too (terrible extraction technique), now I know better. Took about 2 months of all day long hydrocolloid (they have scar healing properties, something about keeping them always moist), morning BHA (Cerave brand) wash, weekly AHA (mandelic). I do my whole face but spot treatment exfoliant would work too. Those both could easily be gone!

Use something gentle. Preferably something with no dyes, fragrances or addatives.

Maybe something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0779BMXTN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_IkgZDbYMAWT9W

Please, please, please don't use bleach. That's a good way to get chemical burns, and end up in the hospital

Shower to Shower Sport is the best stuff on Earth, I'm addicted to it. Smells awesome and keeps you dry without the cooling, menthol effect of Gold Bond. They also make tons of other products like Fresh Balls but I haven't tried that yet because Shower to Shower Sport works so well.

Also, I feel I'm an expert in this area because I'm from a super humid southern state. It was 105 degrees outside yesterday.

Hello, hello. Your friendly doc here.

Butt sweat is real, and wherever there's sweat, there's bound to be pimples, swelling, and other sorts of skin infections -- even in those of us who clean regularly. Here are some tips, starting with the easiest that you can do and working down to the more difficult that will require the help of a doctor.

  1. Try over-the-counter (OTC) cleanser products like Neutrogena. Ideally you should get the version for dealing with acne. Something like this. It's fairly cheap and you could expect to see results in 2-4 weeks or less depending on how bad it is. You should apply it in the shower as it can be cumbersome to do it in the bath tub. Make sure you really massage it on your butt cheeks -- don't just put it on and rince it off. Massage it on for a good minute or so. If you have someone to help you in the shower, all the better! ;) Sometimes acne is caused from just poor cleanliness habits, and this could do the trick.
  2. If this doesn't help, you can try adding on to the shower cleanser I mentioned above with an anti-acne cream. These lotions come in two flavors: benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. I would go with one that has salicylic acid (since you are using benzoyl peroxide with the shower cleanser). Something like this. Important to note that these are lotions so they should be put on after you get out of the shower and dry off, and the cream shouldn't be washed off but left to dry. The only thing you want to wash after putting it on is your hands, since it can be painful or dangerous to get it in your eyes.
  3. If none of those help, then you should consider seeing your doctor, along with a list of the things you tried (the bottles help too). Your doctor will prescribe you with a more potent gel that is applied to the problem areas (pimples and places that get pimples a lot -- for many people it's the T-zone -- the area between the eyes and between the brows). The one I commonly prescribe is Duac (clindamycin/benzoyl peroxide). You need a prescription for this; you cannot get it over the counter. It is very cheap if you have medical insurance. Skin irritation is a side effect of it, so use it very sparingly. Also, make sure and wear a sunscreen if you're going to spend time outdoors, since benzoyl peroxide raises your risk of burning.
  4. If all else fails, your doctor will provide you with a once daily dose of doxycycline, which you take orally. Since I work with women in my practice (OB/GYN), I rarely prescribe doxycycline or isotretinoin because of the serious birth defects it can cause; women have to get regular pregnancy tests and it can be a problem. So I try not to get to this point. If you're a dude though, isotretinoin is fine.

Just some other things you might find useful and may help in the long term: Always make sure and shower every day and every night with soap and water. Apply a non-comedogenic (non-acne forming) moisturizer to your face and (in your case) your butt cheeks after every shower (you should moisturize every day regardless of whether you have acne, ideally with a sunscreen in it). Avoid wearing tight briefs and opt for boxers instead. Change into a clean pair of underwear every morning.

    Best wishes!

I dunno lol...I go on and off of a routine. I've tried loads of things. The orange stuff from I think neutragena (both the liquid one and the bar soap one), and neither seemed to do anything for me. I've tried BP on it's own and in a few different products, and it never really did anything...plus it wound up kinda bleaching any fabric it happened to touch...even the towel I dried my hands on after rinsing it off my fingers. I've tried a few things with salicylic acid in them, and none of those worked. I've tried acne.org's stuff, and it never did anything for me.

The only "product-y" things that have ever worked are this clean & clear acne cleanser. I use it kind of differently than just as a face wash. I'll leave it on my face for a few minutes...though this is not recommended if you have sensitive skin, or need your skin to look nice/fresh like if you're about to leave the house. This usually makes my skin red for a little bit after washing it off, but it works really well to make any current pimples less big, and makes them die down a lot. I'll sometimes use it as a spot treatment to dry out pimples and leave it on for sometimes over an hour...again not recommended for sensitive skin or if you don't want it to make your skin look red right after for a little bit lol. I also really love this cleanser from Blind Barber. I don't know how well it works for acne, but it just makes me feel really clean and super fresh lol. It's minty and mentholy, and it has a really masculine smell too. The times I've managed to clear up my acne, this is one of the things I was using, so I assume it does something to help. The time I really actively made an effort to clear my acne and was able to actually make that happen all I was using was natural soap. I would use a peppermint & tea tree soap in the morning, and then a charcoal soap at night. I lost my charcoal soap lol (it fell on the floor and like got kinda gross so I wound up tossing it), but now I've just restarted that routine and using this african black soap instead of the charcoal soap...I've used it in the past, but not consistently enough to notice if it's done anything to help, but I'm hoping it will. The only neutrogena orange thing that's worked for acne for me is this body wash. It helped my chest acne a ton when it first got bad. It hasn't gotten rid of my chest and shoulder acne that I got during the first weeks post top surgery like it did with the acne there before, but it has calmed that acne down by a lot. I'll occasionally do a facemask now and then too, though I'm unsure how well these help lol. I use random ones from tonymoly, and I have a jar of african black soap in a gel-like form for using as a mask...though that one I've used more on my body acne than on my face, and it seemed to help my body acne some.

[Male] I've got fairly severe body acne and a mild case of rosacea (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosacea) (damn you Dutch genes....) Haven't ever gone to the doctor for it, but it's been... difficult. I have a hard time viewing myself as attractive as a result. Have an amazing girlfriend who still finds me attractive in spite of it all.

That is to say: The right person will still thing you're beautiful. Someone who is repulsed by it probably isn't worth your time.

Something I've done in recent weeks that has severely reduced the amount of body acne...

This: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000535RD/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00

Used with this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000I20Q72/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i01

I tried this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Y038CS/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00
But it wasn't NEARLY as effective as the Neutrogena for my specific skin.

It hasn't made things go away completely, but it's reduced them enough that I was able to go to a water park last week with my girlfriend and her family and had enough courage to not wear a shirt all day long.

I've also found that spending a few days in the sun and letting my skin soak in the rays will certainly alleviate the appearance as well and hide some of the scarring. The body acne started when I was about 15 (now 25) so it's not an insignificant amount. Face is 99.9% clear all the time - just back, shoulders, etc.

Eventually, I'll go in to a dermatologist for it, but in the meantime... limiting chocolate intake (sad day...) and the linked products have drastically reduced it to the point where it's now mostly sub-surface and leftover scarring.

I'm glad you're still alive. Suicide is always tragic. Stiff upper lip, chin up, all that jazz.

u/FuzzySlippers4Me · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

It's 2% salicylic acid on a pad so it's easy to apply wherever you need it.

Other things I did were switching to a laundry detergent that has no fragrance, making sure my hair conditioner doesn't get on my arms and back in the shower and using a body wash that does not have sodium
lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate. These are foaming agents that can be irritating to skin and can trigger acne. I use Everyday Shea body wash. It has neem in it which also helps clear acne.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003B6MTB8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1410467064&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40

u/peony_chalk · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Avoid body wash that's labeled "antibacterial".

I would also avoid products that contain microbeads or microplastics, not necessarily because they're bad for you, but because they're bad for the planet.

Beyond that, SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) can be drying, and some people have or develop sensitivities to fragrances, so that's why you'll see people on here advise that you stay away from them. That said, if you really like using fragranced body wash and your skin doesn't react to it, carry on. If you do ever start to have issues or seem to develop a sensitivity to your body wash, you can always try using something fragrance-free then.

Is your primary issue for body wash just something that gets you clean? Or are you looking to smell like a windy mountaintop or a jungle orchid or something? Do you have body acne or any other concerns like that that you'd like to address?

For the most neutral body wash, you could go with something like Vanicream, Cerave, or Cetaphil.

u/Gary_The_Oak · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I have this same thing going on. I started using an AHA body lotion after showers like others have suggested. That pretty much stopped the formation of new pimples cold. The lotion I used(Alpha skin care 12% glycolic) was a little pricey to be applying all over every few days. I have since switched to using cetaphil restoraderm eczema body wash and a konjac sponge, and the results are still coming in though slower than the AHA lotion. Like others said the key is just (gentle)exfoliating and moisturizing.

u/rexxxie · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I have been using a combination of this spray and this body wash and my skin seems to be cleared nicely. I was never super blemishy but there was definitely some ick going on back there. The spray is a little pricey, and depending on the size of the area, you may go through it quickly; I honestly feel like this spray does most of the work so if you were only going to pick one I'd go with the spray. The body wash is has an added bonus of smelling nice and mildly moisturizing the skin which is quite pleasant.

u/Jeniajadda · 2 pointsr/cringepics

My skin's the same way. I'm always wiping the excess oil off my face. Have you tried a medicated body wash like this or this? The Neutrogena worked wonders for me in my teen years. Just a thought!

Do you know if this stuff has microbeads? I was considering getting an exfoliating acne body wash as a preventative

u/JohnnyBroccoli · 2 pointsr/Psoriasis

I'm a huge fan of Cetaphil body wash. Was using their gentle skin cleanser before but this stuff is way better since it actually foams up a bit instead of being all runny and thin.

You're welcome! I struggled with the problem for such a long time that I studied it and tried almost everything! Just spreading the word.

These things help, too: body wash 1, body wash 2 and cream 1 and cream 2!

u/boccerun · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

My boyfriend is the same way. He has hyper hydrosis, so he sweats a lot and is prone to break outs. He does well when I get him the Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash. I like the pink grapefruit scent better than the usual orange color one (personal preference). He doesn't really care about the smell.

u/LeagueImaginaryWomen · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I get acne on my chest, neck, and back during the summer and I also have KP all over my arms, legs, and butt. I like to dry brush once a week, use a moisturizing body wash (this or this), and use an acne body wash occasionally too. I haven't found the perfect combo to help with my KP, the most effective way to soothe it is a little sun unfortunately. Right now I use AmLactin, Stridex, and a body butter. I think I may try a daily AHA too, although I've tried the 35% glycolic acid skin peel on my arms with not great results.

As far as hair removal goes, I use a hard wax at home on my legs. It's more time consuming but the results are worth it! If I shave, I typically use my partner's manly safety razor. I also fake tan during the summer, I like St. Tropez dark bronzing mousse and/or Jergens natural glow moisturizer in medium/tan. I have light skin, and the darker tanning products work just fine on me. Highly recommend the tanning exfoliating mitts, I'll use these instead of a salt/sugar body scrub.

I don't really have a routine for body. I alternate between this and this for washing.

I enjoyed the Remedy body wash, but it can be pricey! To give an example of how long it lasts, I normally shower 3-4 times a week, and this bottle lasted me only 4 months. It took away body odor but did NOT help with my fungal acne at all. I have actually had much better results using just Head & Shoulders for my acne, and it cleans/softens my skin great.

u/sml-ktchn-vgn · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

When I had body acne, I used this to get rid of it, then I used natural soap, such as Ivory or castile soap, like Dr. Bronner's and it hasn't come back.

If you use the Neutrogena body wash, I wouldn't recommend using it more than once a day, as it can be a little harsh, so get a more natural soap without fragrance for days you shower twice.

u/CelticMara · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This always makes me giggle.

I was just saying last night that I need a set of ear buds.

This is really so cool that you found a way to do a gift thing like this... And plus, it came from giving life to others. You are freaking awesome.

Ow, my arm is bruised now!

u/starstough · 1 pointr/Hypothyroidism

I use Alba Botanica Very Emollient body wash. $10 on Amazon, $15 at Target. The bottle is huge and should last me gosh... probably 3 months even though my two kids also use it daily. I use a salux cloth with two pumps of body wash.

For my face I use Yes to Carrots Fragrance Free Daily Cream Facial Cleanser. Super expensive on Amazon. $8 at Target. It does not foam up or lather and it is super thick but it rinses clean with no burning or tightness after. You truly only need an actual pea sized amount for your whole face, so this bottle should last at least 3 months!

For my hair, right now I am using Burts Bees Very Volumizing Pomegranate shampoo and conditioner. These are honestly a bit expensive considering how little you get, so because I have long hair, even though these are amazing (super shiny hair now!) I am going to try Alba's shampoo/conditioner when these run out. Sulfate free is important to me.

After I wash my face I use Stridex in the red box (Whoa, that's a good deal on Amazon for a 3 pack... otherwise, around $5 at King Soopers) and after I'm done drying my hair, putting on lotion (Jergens Ultra Healing) I use Shiseido Senka Aging Care UV Sunscreen, which is absolutely amazing. I don't use a moisturizer anymore because the face wash and this sunscreen somehow are more than enough. The sunscreen doesn't have a scent, goes on easily, sinks in right away, has a matte finish... and my skin looked younger and smoother and healthier after one day using it!

The biggest reason I think I am bouncing back like this is because Nature Throid has T3 and T4 and I've been on that since 2 weeks after my initial diagnosis. My hair growth is probably about 4 months worth, so I would bet that in a couple months you will start to notice things improving. In the meantime, drink tons of water ( a gallon a day is actually ok), moisturize, and breathe deeply. :)

I buyed cerave skin renewing serum including retinol. I will try it now. i will go to doctor again.

Today i couldnt add the my new cheek photos but tomorrow i will add for the fair comparing.

TL;DR: Trying to choose a tea tree oil body wash to fight back acne. Do you recommend Essential Oil Labs - Tea Tree Oil Body Wash or Remedy Antifungal Soap?

Male looking for body wash that fights body acne. I only get acne on my middle to upper back. My skin typically runs on the drier side, I notice the back of my hands and elbows need lotion after showering. I usually shower from everyday to max 3 days, usually depending on exercise, with warm water then finish off with cold water. Currently using Sebamed Face&Body wash, it’s been ok but hasn’t stopped acne from forming. It does make the rest of my body feel like its’ healthy oils are not being stripped away. Previously I was using C.O. Bigelow Blue Elixir and that actually worked better at keeping the acne at bay, but also making my skin drier than Sebamed. In the past I’ve tried the Neutrogena Grapefruit Clear Body Wash and that made the acne worse. Noble bar didn’t do much. Pls help, any input is appreciated :)

What's a cheaper alternative to this Vivant Mandelic Acid 3-1 Face Wash?

I used it for 2 years and loved it, but I can't stomach the cost anymore. It's $46 for an 8 oz bottle.

I have oily combo skin (oily T zone, dry everything else). In both the morning and evening I wash with Neutrogena Deep Clean. I recently swapped out the Vivant for that but the Sacylic Acid is drying the shit out of my cheeks.

I use Pevonia toner after washing. In the morning I do Peter Thomas Roth oil-less oil and a Neutrogena oil-free sunscreen. Evening I do toner then Horse Oil cream.

I see a stellar cosmetologist who has my skin down to a T and she recommended all these products besides the Neutrogena, which I really need to dump.

Thanks so much, I would love to order something new ASAP.

I know exactly how you feel with the skin picking. I am also a chronic skin picker. It's exacerbated by the fact that I have the acne of a 14 year old, even though I am 23. I usually have several open sores on my face at any one time (not to mention the severe scarring from healed ones). My boyfriend usually rubs my arm when he sees me picking/scratching. I mostly have facial acne but it sometimes pops up on my chest and shoulders. I found this body wash a few weeks ago and it's been helping so far. I truly hope you can find a solution, I know the misery you're experiencing.

This totally happened to me when I started working out again. I have started using neutrogena salicylic face wash on my back and it cleared up fairly quickly. I'm currently looking for a body wash that has Salicylic in it because it seems cheaper than using so much face wash. I may buy this http://www.amazon.com/Irish-Spring-Clear-Fresh-Ounce/dp/B007BF7D8Y but I'm hesitant because irish spring has such a strong scent.

u/ItsOkayToLurk · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

It could be a variety of things causing the breakout. Hormones, a body wash/lotion, unclean sheets, or even an old loofa/sponge can be your downfall. Clean your bed spread with sensitive detergent and then start on your skin.

Get yourself a new loofa/sponge. Get in the shower and gently cleanse with a body wash that doesn't have a lot of irritants. I recommend VaniCream personally, but if you think something else will work better for you, well you know your skin best.

After your shower I would put on an AHA based lotion. I like Alpha Skincare. You'll have to remember to put on sunscreen when going outside. The AHA will make your skin sensitive to the sun.

If doing this for 3 weeks doesn't help any I would make an appointment with a dermatologist.

Good luck!
