Hellooo! I just got my 2nd amazon global order today!! I'm so happy.

If you're a make up wearer, a spray SPF might be useful, I got this in my order

An affordable rice brand/germ oil recommended by ratzilla

$3 sunscreen alcohol free! There's different versions but here's the basic (light grapefruit scent, dries matte but quite oily feeling as it goes on, very runny, a little white cast)

Here is a cream I have my eyes after, it has astaxanthin, a powderful anti oxidant that I really like using under my sunscreen (along with vit c). I haven't used it, I'm currently using a cream from sana with astaxanthin in and but it's becoming drying for me now we're in the winter here even in texas. The cream looks very nourishing if you translate the ingredients

minon amino moist emulsion I really love emulsions in my routine, I find they just plump up the skin and my skin holds onto it all day better rather than just light lotions. This emulsion is highly ranked in JP and is more affordable here than on amazon USA (but it is available for prime in usa)

ettusais lip essence it's soooo good. It's quite expensive though even at retail, but if you feel like treating your self... keep your eyes out for the collab versions, i think you can also find winnie the pooh ones right now on amazon global.

here is an minon amino moist trial kit that is quite affordable and has a nice array of items to try!

EDIT here is my wish list with random bits and bobs too! http://amzn.asia/7Muyfhw

Full recipe (with additional notes) found on my blog at https://veggiechick.com/easy-pear-crisp/ =)

Pear Crisp

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Grease a 9×13 baking dish (or similar size) using vegan butter, coconut oil, or baking spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, add the pear slices, vegan butter, coconut sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Mix together and transfer to the baking dish.
  3. In the same medium bowl (no need to wash!), add the oats, coconut flakes, flour, pecans, coconut oil, maple syrup and remaining 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Stir with a spoon and then transfer the mixture onto the pears in an even layer. Press down with the back of the spoon to flatten.
  4. Bake uncovered for 35 minutes at 375 F, or until browned and bubbling. If making the Vegan Caramel, you can do that while the pear crisp is baking. Remove from oven and set aside to cool.

> I'll just defer to my knowledge of price in the market, and that I don't think it's worth 90$ an ounce.

Are you referring to the NIOD product or glycerin? Glycerin is very inexpensive compared to many other humectants...

This USP grade vegetable glycerin is $10 for 16 oz or 63 cents per oz at retail pricing

https://www.amazon.com/Vegetable-Glycerin-16oz-Non-GMO-Food-grade/dp/B00Z7OWAQ6/ref=pd_sbs_121_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=EBKQZNYZGAWYT8A5NH0A

> I'm one of those people whose skin gets irritated by glycerin

As a cosmetic chemist, this sentence should not make sense to you. Glycerin is a byproduct of triglyceride hydrolysis...which is happening on your skin constantly.

Honestly? You will screw up once or twice when you first start, but generally, it's a fairly easy process and you'll save yourself a lot of money in the long run by doing it yourself.

Just to give you an idea of how I do it, here are the items I use. If you have Amazon Student/Prime, it'll be even easier:

  • 26mm palette (this one is $19/3)

  • Pipettes

  • Jojoba oil

  • Double-ended spatula

  • Alcohol (I believe mine is 70%, but I'm not able to check on that. Either way, if you're living in a dorm, this is something you may want to have anyways in a first aid kit)

For me, I mix it in small tupperware (obviously, I don't use this for storing food at anymore). For 2 small packets of Shiro samples (or even a minijar (both of which fit comfortably in the aforementioned palette)), I use a mixture of no more than 3 drops of jojoba oil and use alcohol to mix it into a paste, of which I then place into the aluminum palette.

You don't want to use an excessive amount of the oil because then it will almost never dry and dilute the color. Whereas, alcohol evaporates out faster so you want to use more of the alcohol than the jojoba oil (or whatever binding solution you choose). Once it gets dried down to a certain point, you can press if you choose to, but I never feel I need to when I do it this way because it's generally pretty uniform.

I know dorm rooms are crampy, but you can do this anywhere once you get the hang of it and for cheaper than having someone else do it (especially if you take into consideration the excessive shipping costs--which will be more than the cost of what you'd be using for some of these products alone).

    ETA: Added details.

Just AM:

  • rinse face, slap on chemical sunscreen.

    Just PM:

  • emulsifying oil cleanser. Great for a very gentle makeup remover and cleans well. Thanks, adult acne!
  • Wash face with Cerave Hydrating. Does this do anything? Who knows.
  • I throw this honey thing in. It really does a good job adding some moisture, but it's too sticky for the morning/takes too long to sink in.
  • Almost last, rosehip oil. I am not a homeopathic gal, so I turned up my nose to all the promises. Dumb. I LURVE this. It soothes, it fights acne, it really helps with the dryness more than anything else. It will turn you into an Oompa-Loompa for about 2 minutes, though.
  • At the end, seal the whole shebang with a sleeping pack or Vaseline. That definitely helps with the dryness and my face is softer the next morning.

    ::Whew!::

What about you? My routine does super well at fighting the irritation-red part of the rosacea, but I wish I had something that blanched the actual-red-all-the-time part.
u/VodkaAunt · 7 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

this one here! honestly I think I like it better than Tarte's - there's a rumor they water theirs down.

u/eff_you_fungus · 6 pointsr/NailFungus

My big toenail got totally ruined by fungus because I left it untreated for 2+ years. Tbh I didn't know what it was and thought it'd go away on its own.

A year ago, during my trip to Bali, I was in the water so much that half of my toenail actually fell off! This is when I finally started doing research and treating it. I went through a 9 month phase where I slacked off because I was traveling a lot, which is why you see it get much worse. But about 3 months ago I decided I've had enough and took this to the next level. I've been extremely proactive in my routine and am finally seeing results!!! It's a lot of work but it's really encouraging to see improvements.

Here's how I'm doing it:

  • Keep it filed down using this electric nail drill (be really careful not to get carried away & use the slowest setting. stop if you feel ANY pain)
  • Keep it clean & trimmed I make sure the sides of my nail/cuticle are free of debri and keep my nails short using these tools
  • Make sure to disinfect all tools & surfaces using alcohol or hand sanitizer & soap
  • Brush your toe 2-3 times a day with a soft tip toothbrush and tea tree oil body wash (especially in morning and before going to bed)
  • Apply Tea tree oil & Coconut oil after brushing
    • Why: Several studies have shown that tea tree oil has antifungal properties. (source) Coconut oil also has antifungal properties and also smoothes out your skin & nail, which is key cuz tea tree oil makes it really dry and rough
    • How: You can do it by hand, but to make it easier I bought this mini refillable perfume spray bottle, filled it up with tea tree oil & coconut oil 50/50. So all I gotta do is spray it on my toe after I brush and dry
  • Apply Vicks vaporub I apply this along with the tea tree oil & coconut oil once a day or so
  • Apply Urea Cream at night in addition to the tea tree oil & coconut oil
    • Numerous studies have shown combination therapy of urea and an antifungal agent to be an effective treatment for onychomycosis. Urea functions to soften the nail plate, which can enhance the passage of antifungal medications to the underlying nail bed.
  • Footsoaks I've done footsoaks 2-3 times a week for 30 min each. Recently I've been combining 2 part warm water, 1 part vinegar (distilled white or ACV), and like 5 tbsp baking soda. Sometimes I only do baking soda. Sometimes I add a few drops of tea tree oil. Sometimes I soak just with bleach & water. But if you do the bleach & water, make sure you use regular bleach (not the splashless kind). Anyways as you can tell, I kinda mix it up when it comes to footsoaks
    • In the lab, plain old sodium bicarbonate limited growth of the most common types of fungi that cause skin and nail infections. (source)
    • Vinegar can protect against bacteria, fungi, and other harmful microbes, so putting it into a foot soak could have potential benefits for the feet. source
  • Antifungal foot powder I use this foot powder anytime I wear shoes to keep it as dry as possible
  • Try to stay bare feet as much as possible
  • Put toe in sunlight as much as you can fungus hates the sun
  • Clean socks I change into fresh clean socks constantly
  • Handwash & sanitize socks I handwash all of my socks by soaking them in this collapsible dish tub with super hot water, laundry detergent, and a few drops of dettol, which is this super concentrated antiseptic liquid that kills the fungus
  • Spray on sanitizer If I'm ever lazy, I carry this hand sanitizer spray to spray my toenail before going to bed. I also spray this in my shoes & flip flops at night. I also use this to spray down my nail filer, sink, hands, etc. to not spread fungus.
u/avoidsayingballs · 6 pointsr/BeautyGuruChat

So I do want to preface this by saying that my acne is largely hormonal. I don't break out because a product/fragrance is too harsh, nor is my acne really a result of clogged pores (like with dirt, oil, etc.), so YMMV if you've got sensitive or very acne-prone skin.

  • Moisturizers: I like to combine CeraVe moisturizing cream (in the big tub) and The Estee Edit pink peony overnight water pack. After I cleanse in the morning (I use Soap and Glory peaches and clean deep cleansing milk if you were curious) I apply the CeraVe first and then the Estee one right on top. At night, I'll do the same thing but if I'm extra dry I'll also add a few drops of sweet almond oil on top of everything. You can get sweet almond oil fairly inexpensively on Amazon, I use this brand. Also, a note of caution on the CeraVe moisturizer: it’s kind of heavy and it may take your skin a little while to adjust to it, during which time you might find yourself looking a little greasy. Keep using it, though! Once you’re used to it, it’s a fantastic moisturizer.

  • Primer: I'm currently using the Too Faced Hangover Primer which I have mixed feelings about. Sometimes I feel it doesn't really help the longevity of my makeup but it's gentle and does seem to moisturize a bit. I might look for something else once I finish up what I have, though. I used to use the very silicone-y primers (Smashbox photo finish, NYX studio perfect) before I realized that I really didn't like the feel of them on my face because they just sit on top of your skin. I've also heard of these types of primers clogging pores a bit.

  • Foundation: Tarte Amazonian Clay. It's medium-full coverage but still looks quite natural if you apply it well. I almost always apply it with a damp Real Techniques sponge because it gives a better finish. You can build up coverage faster with a brush, but it'll emphasize dry patches a lot more unless you're really, really careful about using a stippling motion rather than buffing. You can also try applying it with your fingers - I did that today to try and get my makeup on quicker and it looked awesome. Like I don't know if I was just having a good skin day or if I unlocked a mystical secret of this foundation but I was seriously shocked at how good it looked.

  • Concealer: Makeup Forever full cover concealer. Really good coverage without looking cakey or emphasizing dry spots. This is great for covering blemishes but it’s way too heavy for concealing under your eyes. If my skin is looking really bad and I’ve got some extra time in the morning, I’ll use a green concealer underneath the MUFE one as well. I’m currently using the NYX full coverage concealer (in the little jar), but because it’s pretty solid, it’s way, way too dry for my skin, so I’m on the lookout for a good green liquid concealer.

  • Powder: Bare Minerals mineral veil. I sweep a very light layer over my face just to set everything and provide a good base for blending blush on top of it. Loose powders like this one look more natural on me than pressed powders and are a lot less likely to look dry and cakey.

  • Setting spray: I use the Urban Decay all nighter spray. It seems pretty good, but this is the only setting spray I’ve ever used and I only started using it a couple of months ago so I don’t really have anything to compare it to. Sorry I can’t be more helpful in this category!

I'm including links to what I purchased on Amazon but you can shop around and get what you need :) If you end up getting what I'm linking to, it'll last you quite a while. I even sell some occasionally.

This is my nut free version but you I'll include some alternatives if you want to use different butters/oils. Basically, you want equal parts so adjust the recipe for amount you want. This will give you a little more than 2oz of body butter which lasts me at least a month and I put it on quite a bit. You only need a little at a time.

  1. Combine everything into a double boiler. If you don't have one, using a mason jar in a pot of boiling water works nicely. Melt the butters on medium low to medium heat, stirring constantly, just until everything is mixed and there are no solids left.

  2. Pour into small mixing bowl. Note: This is where I usually add essential oils, but during pregnancy, you'll want to be extremely careful about using them since many shouldn't be used. You don't need them, but if you want the added benefits, there are sites out there that can tell you which are considered safe. If you add them, let the oils cool for a few minutes then add them and stir the mixture well

  3. Put the bowl in the fridge for 45 minutes until it starts to solidify. If you don't want to wait that long, you can put it in the freezer for about 15 minutes until it starts to solidify. The edges will look more solid but the center should still be pretty liquid.

  4. Either with a whisk or an electric hand mixer (much easier), start mixing it. It'll start to solidify into the whipped texture, especially if you're using the electric mixer.

  5. When you're satisfied with consistency, put it into a jar or tupperware container. If you're somewhere hot and it starts to melt a bit, you can put it in the fridge to solidify it again.

You just need a small amount and it'll melt from your body heat and soak into your skin. Feels AMAZING.

Morning routine:

u/Jenny12lynn · 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

You can buy regular maracuja oil to use. I recently bought 4 oz for $15. They sell this brand at my local natural grocers so I knew it was legit. Not sure if they add extra stuff to tartes but it's worth a try for the price!

u/brokebecauseripple · 5 pointsr/FixedGearBicycle

actually thier oil (lube) is significantly more expensive per ounce than snake oil. Snake Oil CeramicSpeed liquid gold
Edit: Formating

u/shineeslash · 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Please keep in mind that my face was a tiny bit angry in the pictures from last night as I had just finished OCM. The morning pictures are from right after I woke up, before doing any of my morning routine. :)

My skin type: Pretty dry, acne-prone (obviously), prone to redness. I also have dermatillomania (compulsive skin picking) which creates a lot of scabs/scars.

PM Routine:

u/adult_angst · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Ok good! Cetaphil actually did not work for me, it broke me out a lot and my skin was dry. Check out different moisturizers you could use on here! But be sure to patch test everything!

You could just use something like this. It's what I use. But do note that jojoba oil can be slightly comodogenic so patch test this as well!

u/A_Random_Boner · 3 pointsr/bodybuilding

Moisturize every day still. You can do it for a cheap price. But having bought the decent priced skin care stuff and the kind of expensive skincare stuff, I can 100% tell a difference.

Something super and cheap you can do that is just a small portion of my routine is this Argan oil. four drops for the face, one drop for the lips, and four drops for the hair - game changer and super cheap.

u/KalElbiwon · 3 pointsr/avb

Roughly 0.23g - 0.3g in each. You can get the 00 (double zero) capsules and they'll fit a little more. The trick though, because it's ground up so fine it gets into your system faster.

Another thing you can do that I don't do is first grind up all the AVB pretty fine. Then mix it with a little coconut oil and then put the material in the capsules. This will "boost" the capsule's potency because the coconut oil increases your metabolism. It's a little more messy, which is why I just drink a big glass of milk after.

Another thing to note... if you take it on an empty stomach with a glass of milk, and then eat a high protein/iron-rich/calorie foods right after you will likely feel the effects more. This can increase your metabolism a lot, making the AVB process faster.

Edibles can be greatly affected by your diet and metabolism.

u/fuckgenres · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

This one! It has doubled in price since I last purchased but that was over a year ago... a bottle lasts forever. Looking around, there are a lot more/better options now like this one with a pump (and it's cheaper for almost same size of bottle).

u/rustywarwick · 3 pointsr/sexover30

I'm the one who posted the most recent thread re: yoni massage and I did use the coconut oil and I too had that kind of cognitive dissonance element.

What I'd recommend is getting something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Fractionated-Coconut-Oil-Massage-Oils/dp/B01LQSSSRG/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_194_lp_tr_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=71YFVT3KZ85ATSPTQ4AD

It's designed as massage oil and even something as simple as the branding might help shift the frame of mind and as it's already in a liquid state, it won't look like the solid coconut oil most of us find in the grocery store.

u/HotlilDitty · 3 pointsr/AskReddit

I swear by Africa's Best Herbal Oil but my hair is already too fine and oily so I use it as an all over moisturizer. The smell is wonderful, it leaves my skin really soft and silky, I use it in the bath when I need a soak and one bottle has lasted me almost 1.5 years now with everyday use. I always write about this stuff when a beauty post pops up but it truly is great oil to have around.

HAIR:

  • Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo. I get this at Target, where they have the jumbo bottle for $10. I really like that it's super gentle and doesn't have sulfates in it (I have a fairly dry, curly hair type). It also smells soft, almost like play dough, and I love that. I also use the matching conditioner.

    TEETH:

  • Earth Paste Toothpaste. I get this at my local health food store and I have seen it at Whole Foods and New Seasons. This toothpaste makes my teeth feel the cleanest they've ever been, but you should know that the mouth feel is a little different from a traditional foaming toothpaste. Before this I used Tom's Of Maine.

  • Modest Planet Natural Bamboo Toothbrush. Just got this recently but so far I like it just fine.

    BODY:

  • I don't shave, so I don't have any current recommendations for this. HOWEVER I know that safety razors are a great option as far as finding cruelty free (plus they're more eco conscious) and I used to like using coconut oil to shave my legs.

  • Wild Carrots Vanilla Bean Skin Cream. I just checked their website and this appears to have been discontinued. :(

  • Tom's Of Maine Deodorant. I like the Wild Lavender and Maine Woodspice scents. I don't sweat much, so these do fine for me, but might not be great for someone who sweats a lot.

    SKINCARE:

  • I just found out my cleanser isnt vegan, I need recs for this again.

  • Thayer's Alcohol Free Rose Witch Hazel. It's gentle and calming. I used to wipe it on with a cotton round but I've discovered I actually like spritzing my toner on better.

  • Derma E Hydrating Day Cream. This is very moisturizing but still light. It sinks in really well, which I love because I like to layer skin creams. It also smells delicious and light.

  • Derma E Hydrating Night Cream. This is thick. This is rich. I want to marry it. I have pretty dry skin so I actually layer a dab of this over my day cream as well.

  • Pure Maracuja Oil.This is the one I use right now, and before this I used the Tarte one. It's softening and helps my breakouts a little bit.

  • Pure Neem Oil. I'm allergic to Tea Tree and my skin doesn't like Salicylic Acid very much so I use this instead. Sometimes I apply like a spot treatment, sometimes all over. I love what it does for me but it smells like burning peanuts so I only use it at night.

  • Shea Moisture African Water Mint Lip Balm. This is really thick so I like it for lip prep before lipstick. My only complaint is the packaging. It's so hard to open.

    MAKEUP:

  • Hard Candy Color Correcting Primer in Green. I just learned that this is LE. WHY the FUCK..... Before this I was using elf Hydrating Mineral Primer.

  • I don't use foundation much anymore, but when I do I rotate between Wet N Wild Photofocus, Sonia Kashuk Perfecting Luminous Foundation and Urban Decay Naked Skin. All three are lightweight, thin formulas, and medium coverage.

  • Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Creme. This is beautiful. And let me tell you, my skin is AWFUL but I can just use this instead of foundation and it looks awesome. Best makeup purchase of my life.

  • Essence Stay Matt Powder. I use this to "bake" and set my face all over. It's very effective and has a great blurring effect. Sometimes if I have a bad foundation day, this actually fixes it.

  • Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Moonstone. I like to put this on top of my base but under powder. It gives a nice subtle glow.

  • Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. This is beautiful and it smells delicious, and it's very easy to blend.

  • Urban Decay Blush in Fetish. The formula on these is just so soft and beautiful, without being powdery at all. This is also a pretty similar color to Tarte's Exposed (not vegan) though slightly pinker.

  • Still need an eye primer replacement and am working on the eye shadows.

  • elf Mineral Infused Mascara. This makes my lashes so fluttery and curly. Perfect for everyday. For more dramatic lashes, I really like the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

  • My favorite lipsticks are the Kat Von D Liquid Lipsticks and the Milani Matte Lipsticks.

NOW AFTER ALL OF THAT. Please make sure you check the HG Masterlist in the sidebar. I made it just for these situations! There's tons more products listed there!

I just bought a pack with 4 oz bottles of Almond oil, Avocado oil and Jojoba oil I also bought a 4 oz of grapeseed oil and mixed them all in a little 1 oz bottle with a dropper (You can buy 6 of them for $5 on ebay). I also bought some Cedar and Pine fragrance oil to add to it for smell that is also Phthalate free vegan and cruelty free just added bonuses it was only $3 for 10ml and smells awesome. Ill link em below if you wanna check it out. I just applied it to my beard this morning and to my head hair and it smells great and feels great.

I have dry combination skin.

  • Cleanse daily with Clinique Mild Liquid Soap
  • Moisturize at night with 100% Argan Oil
  • BB Cream in the morning under foundation

Ever since I started using pure argan oil as my moisturizer, the dry patches on my cheeks have gone away. I used to have dry pimples and they have become more moisturized. My make-up looks more even and my face looks more dewy and healthy. I swear by Argan Oil now

You and I have the same exact hair. I started using like two drops of argan oil after showering and it really really helped the frizz. Another honorable mention is Organix Coconut Milk shampoo to help with breakage. The protein will make your hair stronger and less prone to breakage.

You are so very welcome! Skincare marketing is so misleading - and unregulated in the US! - and while ScA is great wealth of knowledge, it can also be very overwhelming to read through all the threads, terminology, etc. I want to be as informed as possible and if I can, support companies that put their money where their mouth is (solid science backed research, great customer service, positive social/environmental impact, etc.).

If you do want to try some rosehip, I always recommend Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ (NZ companyy). It's shelf-stable for up to 3 yrs b/c they've added some antioxidants (bonus!) vs. plain rosehip which goes bad in 3-6 months (if they say longer than that, I'd be weary). You only get 1 ounce for ~$25 USD vs. the typical 4 oz bottles from the other sellers so I wouldn't recommend you use this for OCM unless you have coin to burn. I just add a few drops directly to my skin sometimes, neat style, or I add few to my moisturizer.

If you do want to try some essential oils, here are two reputable sellers - Ananda Apothecary and AROMATICS INTERNATIONAL - so you can see the diff in the level of information they provide about each oil (e.g, country of origin, reports by batch, plant parts used, etc.). It's night and day compared to Radha (Radha is doing a bunch of yoga/pilates moves all over the site - great flexibility but what's your oil made of?) and Aria Star (just a lot of marketing about the amazing benefits!). ps. Still no response from Aria Star.

If you want actual snake oil I suggest just buying it from amazon. They have quicker delivery and cheaper prices.

u/gravelmonkey · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I've tried a few different E oils. I think pure vitamin E oil is suuuuuper thick so you often find it blended with other oils to make it easier to apply. I'll link a few that I've used and liked:

Trader Joe's

Jason (this one smells like almond, it's delightful)

Sundown (this one is really thick and probably wouldn't work well over a large area. it would be better for small rough spots like elbows. Plus, I got it at whole foods so it was expensive).

My boyfriend is using the Trader Joe's stuff and loves it. I was using the Jason oil on my face every morning and I was a big fan of how well it faded my scars. I only stopped because I'm trying to use up the products I already have before buying more lol.

I should mention that I don't have sensitive skin, but my boyfriend does, and he hasn't had an issue with any of these.

u/AtomicPenny · 2 pointsr/Horses

There is a cheap hair product called Africa's Best, a bottle is like $2 at target. I LOVE it. I keep a bottle in my shower and in the barn haha. It's basically just every oil under the sun. It's super hydrating, hasn't caused any irritation, keeps them tangle free, and helps with growth. Better than all the horse products imo.

Make your own. It's quite quick and easy. Inexpensive, too. For example, coconut oil (for the skin) and olive oil (for the beard). How much time does it take to mix a tablespoon of coconut oil (15g) and a teaspoon (5g) of olive oil? Change up the mix to suit your needs. You can add essential oils to change the scent but you don't need them.

I use Trilogy Rosehip Oil and have been very satisfied. I use 4 drops at night, and at this rate the bottle will go bad before I use it all up, so $24 for 12 months use seems pretty reasonable.

As far as anti-aging oils go rose hip oil seems to be popular. You can try this one that has added antioxidants. Your local Whole Foods may carry it.

I have been dealing with redness for a while too. I'm pretty sure it's primarily genetic, but being dehydrated does not do me any favors.

There are a couple of things I've tried or been told to try and some have helped a bit. My mom has rosacea and I'm pretty sure I have a mild case of it as well, but I haven't really target that as much as I have tried to create a soothing routine.

Anywho things I've been told/tried (Amazon links just for info, you may consider buying some of these else where, if you decide to buy them at all):

  • Cosrx Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence: I personally didn't see any direct redness reducing effects, but I do really love this as a hydrating essence. I use it to mix oils into quite often.

  • LRP Cicaplast Baume B5: This stuff is THICC. Very soothing for me. Immediate redness reducing with some last effects. It is not very cosmetically elegant so I don't use it during the day.

  • Hada Labo Moist: This is a hydrating toner. This primarily helps with redness by plumping and hydrating my face. I find this to be an absolute workhorse in my routine, but kind of boring at the same time. I may switch to the premium version when I'm finished with my current bottle.

  • Klairs Supple Preparation Toner: This is very soothing for me and I find it does help short term with redness relif. You may have some issues with the essential oils that are in this formula, but they have just a released one that is Unscented!

  • Dr. Jart Color Correcting Treatment: This doesn't fix the problem for me, but it does cover the redness very nicely. I really like using this instead of foundation or a BB cream, it evens out my complexion very well. A little goes a long way!

  • Niacinamide: There are several products that I have tested because they contained Niacinamide. If you'd like I would be happy to link them to you. I really like this ingredient and I find it to be very helpful in a lot of ways.

  • SPF: I feel silly saying this, but honestly using SPF regularly cut my redness in half.

  • Centella Asiatica: This is one of the main soothing ingredients in the LRP Baume & Dr. Jart Color Corrector I mentioned earlier. There are several products that feature it from multiple brands. I know a couple of weeks ago there was this thread about it on /r/AsianBeauty

  • Rosehip Seed Oil: I only linked the Trilogy because that is the one I am testing right now. I really like this oil and may look for a different brand going forward. I'm not positive that it is helping my general redness, but it IS doing wonders for some of the PIE spots that I have on my chin.

Wow, I have just realized I've written you a book. My bad! I hope this helps some. These are just my experiences and suggestions, ymmv. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I use this oil and it really minimizes k.p. It's also really inexpensive and good on my hair too!

I love Tarte blushes and lipgloss the best!

Ooo I do have a few NZ recommendations! I'll link to Amazon listings, as I'm assuming you live in N.America?

  • Trilogy Rosehip Oil - I've tried cheaper Rosehip oils and this one is an all time favourite. I feel like it smells nicer than others as well. Its a pricier brand, but very well made and their whole Rosehip range is amazing.
  • Skinfood NZ Mud Masque - cheap as chips and it's a best seller in NZ. It's an amazing mud masque with volcanic mud from Rotorua, Apricot oil and jojoba oil. Always feel so clean after using it.
  • Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask - another pricy brand, but they have amazing products. This mask is really soothing and hydrating

Sure! You need an electric mixer, raw unrefined shea butter, oatmeal, 3 moisturizing oils of your choice, water, and a stove top.

I get my shea butter from the African store in town, but Amazon sells tubs for pretty cheap. For oils I'd recommend this set on Amazon, all of these oils are known for their moisturizing properties. I just use regular smegular quaker oats in the tin.

First, soak your oatmeal for a few hours and then blend it into a drippy liquidy peanut butter consistency. Chop your shea block into smaller chunks to make it easier. Have two pans on the stove: one to melt half of your shea and another to warm your oils. If the oils get too hot they break down, so that burner needs to be on the LOWEST setting. The pan should be warm to the touch, but touchable with bare hands.

Put enough shea to cover the bottom of your other pot, this one is on mediumish heat. Slowly pour in the oils, oatmeal blend, and leftover shea chunks into the pot while you have mixer on. Take it off heat when everything is sufficiently melted and keep mixing until it gets to the consistency you want.

I used to use honey but then I got ants, so now I drop in a few drops of honey fragrance oil I got at some flea market. If these instructions don't make sense, I modified my recipe from this video!

This is what I usually use. I've had just the one for two years now and it has not even been used more than 20%. Use a cloth similar to a glass cleaner and give it a little bit of the oil and keep using that cloth to wipe down hand planes when you're done with them. Same with the blades/chisels.

Things I loved

  1. Argan Oil: I'm beyond pleased with this purchase. Been using it every night as my facial moisturizer and with my combo of AHA/BHA pads have experienced no acne and no redness.
  2. St. Ives Exfoliating Pads: I DID IT. I made it through the whole jar! AND love it. I ordered two more jars. Cleared up my rosacea (besides the tiny broken capillaries that use rosacea sufferers are stuck with) and my skin is beautiful and smooth. A+++
  3. Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser: Bought this mid-March and my skin has been glowing. I first tried it at my sister's house. It's amazing for combo skin. A+(infinity)

    Things That Sucked

  4. Skin&Co Bagnodoccia Body Gel: I don't know WHAT was going on when they chose the fragrance of "naturally purifying orange extracts" but it smells like old ladies. And it doesn't moisturize at ALL. When I got out of the shower my boyfriend was like, "You smell like my grandma." It was terrible. Or as Charles Barkley says, "Terribbe."

Things I was like "MEH" about

  5. Supergoop!® Advanced SPF 37 Anti-Aging Eye Cream: Not much to say. Pretty meh about it.

I found this one (I'm an Amazon junkie) just in case I want to try it. Looks like the real deal and a good price. I may pick it up at some point in the far future.

I love my jojoba oil! I got it because I saw people recommending it for makeup removal. But I actually have just been using it everyday since the 8th, usually after I shower/bathe, just to moisturize. You only need to use a tiny bit (dime size is plenty), the bottle will last forever. Even if it feels like I got too much on, I don't mind. It doesn't feel icky or heavy. And my skin seems softer overall.

I'm new to skin care so I don't know what I'm talking about, but I like it.

u/blacktieaffair · 1 pointr/acne

Ahahah okay so I'll just respond to your points this way now:

  • In case you didn't see it, many people apparently use this EPO and it seems to work well for them! And it's also cheap! Yeah!

  • Just remember, only certain products should be making you purge. Anything else is a breakout. Here's some good info on that.

  • As far as cleanser goes, I would really stick to the one that works for you right now because of 2 things: 1, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! I don't have much experience with La Roche Posay, but it seems to be a very highly recommended brand, so if you don't think it's causing breakouts, it's probably fine for now. 2, you're about to introduce a ton of new products into your skincare routine. Each time you add something new, you optimally want to space it out 2 weeks before you add in the next one. So, by using something you have now, you'll cut down time on introducing products, AND you'll know if the new products are causing the breakouts, which you wouldn't quite be able to tell if you used another cleanser too.

  • My skin is super dupes oily, large pores, ruddy and acne prone, so we do have a few things in common! I am also extremely sensitive to alcohol and fragrance. So that really limits my ability to choose sunscreen, lol. I have been using CeraVe's SPF 50 with little to no issues, but the white cast is un. fucking. real. Not a huge problem for a ghost like me, but it might be a problem on Asian skin. Or even... super Asian skin. haha, sorry, I couldn't resist XD You're more than welcome to give it a try though, because to me the benefit of the white cast is that it cancels out some of my redness and PIE! Even so, I've been growing more concerned about the PA rating of the CeraVe sunscreen, so I went ahead and recently purchased Mentholatum Sunplay Skin Aqua Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA+++ UV Moisture Milk (What a mouthful) because it's a fragrance-free, alcohol-free asian sunscreen with a high PA rating. Dunno how it'll be, but we'll see!

I've used oils to help with moisturizing my hair, but I didn't notice any direct effects on my pulling. I pull from my beard too, and even when I put the oils in that I still pulled. It just made them softer and easier to get ahold of lol.

I've been using Argan Oil. My hair is not too curly but it would dry out really bad leaving me with a fro. Since I started using it I noticed it doesn't look dry but healthy. I put about 15-20 drops and rub them on my hand for about 5 seconds and then run both my hands through my hair. I then brush it with my boars hair brush and leave it for the rest of the day. Throughout the morning I run my hands through it to get out any left over oil so that it's not TOO greasy. I say TOO greasy cuz you'll still have a little oil on your hands but it's better than having a dry fro.

u/Aliele · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

Looks great! I just want to mention that the Josie Maran Argan Oil is just overly priced pure Argan Oil. I just bought this which is 15 dollars for 2 oz when her 1.7oz is 48.

I'm sorry if you have been told this before. It just kinda frustrates me how much money shes made off of such an inexpensive product.

All that aside I hope everything works well for you and that eyelash curler did wonders!

I need help starting a routine!

  1. Currently I just wash my face whenever I shower, and usually put lotion on in the morning (if I remember). After I get out of the shower I use jojoba oil and if I have a breakout I will put my doctor-prescribed acne medication on it.

  2. Added the jojoba oil about 1-2 months ago the help combat "beard burn"

  3. Yes?

  4. I need help creating a skin care routine, hopefully not having to buy too many products because of budget reasons. I have occasional acne break outs, and generally combination skin. Though it's been much better lately and more "normal"

El Dorado is definitely a facial oil. Think of it as a "supercharged" facial oil since it has the benefit of adding 10% THDA (vitamin c), whereas many mass marketed facial oils are just mixtures of several different oil varieties. Common ones include jojoba, argan, rosehip seed, evening primrose, borage, etc.
While El Dorado is both an oil mixture + antioxidant (vitamin c in this case), but there exist other product varieties like this that are just one oil (rosehip seed in this case) + antioxidants. Additionally, there are just plain old oils sans antioxidants, so you really have a pretty wide array of options to choose from. One is not necessarily better than another, you'll just need to find one that suits your needs best.
I have similar advice regarding "how many oils" to put in your routine because it really depends on what your skins needs are. I encourage you to experiment^cautiously here. Some people can't tolerate oils at all, others can apply it several times a day and have perfectly glowing skin. It's really up to the individual to asses your skin's needs for the day and apply products appropriately. But for the love of god please don't put coconut oil on your face unless you fancy spending weeks of your life undoing the hellish pore-clogging damage it will undoubtedly do. Trust me, it is not better to have loved and lost in this particular instance.

Reflections:**
It's been a little over a year since I seriously got into skincare. At this point I'm quite satisfied with my routine and will finish all my products through. A few changes that may come:

  1. After I finish the Mad Hippie Vitamin C, I may try one with L-AA instead of SAP.
  2. I just repurchased the Trilogy Rosehip Oil but it has a strong earthy smell that is a little unpleasant; I may search for an alternative.
  3. The Fresh Black Tea Mask was great when I was first getting into skincare -- it did wonders for my dehydrated skin -- but I've noticed diminishing returns as I've actively improved my skin's moisture so I will likely not repurchase.
  4. I'm not 100% satisfied with my serum and moisturizer. I wish they were a little more moisturizing; however I have not been able to find anything better without being too heavy.
  5. PC's 2% BHA is great; I just find it annoying because I need to let it sit for at least 20 minutes for it to be effective. Would love to find an alternative that doesn't require such a long wait time.

Regarding Paula's Choice Hydrating Treatment Mask under "Moisturizer" -- this is my "cheating" routine. I use this on those occasional late nights when I've been out too long and cough am still too drunk to do my full routine. I make sure I double cleanse to get all the makeup and grime off my face, but I know I cannot get through my full routine so I slather this on to ensure my face is properly moisturized. This does wonders as an emergency 1-step-post-cleanse routine, but I do not recommend doing it on a regular basis.

I also want to note: although it's called Shu Uemura Skin Perfector Makeup Artist Oil, I use it at night as my last step (or 2nd to last step, if I'm going to use the Sulwhasoo mask).

If you decide to use a leave-in, leave a few inches between your scalp and where you apply it. Leave-in and rinse out conditioners can clog pores and cause irritation on the scalp. Ideally, you'd apply it to wet hair and once it is completely dry, gently shake your hair to loosen the light product cast that formed.

Another Tip: You can actually further seal the hair with oil, such as argan oil, after using a leave in. I use a few drops of this.

u/these-points-of-data · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I use this one. It's worked great for me so far in terms of moisture, although frankly it has only helped marginally with my hormonal acne. It does need to be refrigerated though.

Anything that's 100% pure EPO in oil form will be fine, cold-pressed would be even better. I chose to go with the Now Foods one because even though it doesn't specifically say "cold-pressed", and does mention it's pressed at low temperatures, and the rest of the oils I could find on Amazon that were listed as cold-pressed had really dodgy reviews (it looked like a bunch of people were paid to give glowing reviews all within a span of a couple of days). I would advise against buying the capsules if you're going the topical route, since a. the capsules usually have other ingredients added and b. it's a lot less cost effective. You can directly take the oil orally as well if you so choose.
