Just an FYI, Nature's Miracle is pretty crappy. Over 10 years ago Eight in One bought the name to Nature's Miracle but not the formula, they use their own formula. The original formula became Petastic. It was hard to find. Then they sold the formua to Venus Labs (or Venus One, something like that) and they of course made their own name, which you can buy from Amazon like so https://www.amazon.com/Earth-Friendly-Products-Stain-Remover/dp/B0002X30Y8

I also like Out! products better than Nature's Miracle. They are available at Target, you can email them and ask for coupons. They have a pet formula (which is good or all things blood, urine, and vomit) and they have a nice smelling orange oxy formula, which has the same stuff in OxyClean. Like hydrogen peroxide, it works well against organic stains.

I think that all the enzymatic cleans reek when you first use them, but the Out! products are the first ones that fade into a decent odor upon using them and they don't trigger a migraine.

Kids N Pets is cool stuff, I've yet to find a stain that it won't get out of fabrics or carpet. And I have two toddlers, a dog, a cat, and a husband. This stuff got orange gatorade vomit out of my carpet during the Norovirus Incident of 2014. Twice. It's kind of expensive, but worth it in my opinion. I buy mine from Walmart with coupons usually. My mom swore it got the skunk smell out of her carpet after a skunk attack victim snuck into the house, but I wasn't there so I can't attest to that.

Rubbing alcohol works great for water stains on microfiber couches that don't have removable cushions. Make sure you basically drench the cushion or you'll have new rings around the clean area, and scrub a bit. Works great for me every time. Smells a bit hospital-y after I'm done, but I kinda like it.

My cats have had episodes like this before. At first, it was because the box (ours is self cleaning too) was too close to the fridge and the noise scared them, then we figured out it was because they didn’t like the crystal litter that comes with the disposable litter pans. It’s weirdly trial and error, so I’d say get a big ass bottle of enzyme cleaner and try some different methods out and if all else fails, go to the vet

In addition, a good soak in this stuff will completely eradicate the smell through enzymatic action.

Wash the carpet with a cat pheromone removal cleaner then afterwards wash with a citrus smelling soap/detergent or chuck the carpet. link below for anyone interested in the remover.

I haven't tried these but heard good things about them on other forums and the reviews are very positive, especially since Nature's Miracle switched scents and ruined a good product. Just a few suggested Amazon links that might work well for you. Not sure if anyone else can suggest them or not.

I figured this out a few years ago when it was the only sort of stain/odour remover I had on hand at the time. And I’ve continued to use the same brand since. It works actual miracles.

Vinegar all the things. I've also had a lot of luck with KOE.

Your dad is probably talking about Kilz Stain Blocking primer. It works great, but it does stink so keep the windows open and consider running a fan.

I'd Kilz the subfloor under the carpet and all the walls. And I do mean all the walls, every room. Once the paint stink subsides it'll be like a brand new odor-free place.

I'm not sure about hardwood. Presumably it'll involve stripping and refinishing it though. Possibly soaking stains in vinegar or other de-odorizers once the finish is stripped before you recoat it.

I've had really good luck with this stuff on heavily soiled thinset in a shower that wasn't grouted. I had to use almost two bottles but it did the trick:

RedGard would be great for preventing this in the future, but I'm not sure on sealing. It's a moisture block for cement so it might do the trick. It's expensive though.

I put him in the bathroom for 2 weeks. I had the diffusor in the plug that was just outside the bathroom he was in and used the feliway spray on any area he previously marked after I let him out just in case. I had a pheromone collar on him as well, but check reviews because they were some safety issues with a couple of them not breaking away. There were some great pictures on amazon of how people attached it to their collar to avoid any potential issues.

I used an enzyme cleaner on the areas he peed on to remove the smell as well (very important step).

This is a good option for cleaning it.

As a weekly routine, I've been washing the fleece covers in a separate load of laundry on the hot setting with:

And I've been spraying down and wiping the toys and plastic trays with: https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Miracle-NM-5479-Disinfectant-Remover/dp/B010NVDH0U/

I don't use any bedding in the cage except for a bit of paper litter in a poop bowl which I dump every couple days.

This is the stuff I use. Haven’t met a pet stain it couldn’t handle! (and sometimes I’m a little lazy about getting to the stains right away, so that’s how I know it’s good haha)

The other thing - when you’re looking at cat/kitten trees, pay attention to how it’s arranged to make sure there is enough horizontal space for them to jump up and down levels. If it’s too vertical, they’ll be uneasy about getting down especially.

u/anyones_ghost27 · 2 pointsr/dogs

They have a product specifically for laundry as well.

Wipe it out the best you can. Get rubber gloves if you want. Buy a bottle of Petastic. Liberally wipe out the inside with it, then dry with a cloth. You may have to do it more than once. This stuff works.

Never let that idiot near you guitars again.

Wee Away is the best. Will try to find a link for you.

This stuff is fantastic for everything. Soft surfaces, hard surfaces. Pee, poop, vomit, blood, wine. Everything. Best part? You mop up the excess of the mess, apply cleaner and then walk away. You don't have to come back to blot it up later. I've never had it not work.

Edit 2: I also use this to clean my bird's and bunnies cages.

  1. Carpet deodorizer. Especially the kind meant for pets. Do that at least once a week when you vacuum.

  2. Lysol your bare mattress and pillows once a week.

One reason your roomate's cat keeps peeing on the bed, is because you haven't removed the odor entirely. They will keep going back to the same spot because cars, like dogs, have way more scent receptors than humans. Check out Whisper Pet Odor Eliminator on Amazon. It's a molecular modifier that has stopped cats from peeing or spraying in the same place. It will instantly and permanently remove odors because it changes the molecular structure of odor.

Hey there. As someone who is really sensitive to smells, this would drive me nuts. Luckily, I am a professional cleaner and the owner of 5 cats, so here's hoping I can help you.

First of all, I am going to take a guess that you used some sort of clay based litter in your old apartment? That stuff really does stink! I have a friend that insists on using it and whenever I stay over, all my clothes, hair etc, stink of cat litter when I get home. So I think I know what you mean by litter box smell. If you haven't already, switch to a better litter to avoid this problem again in the future. My absolute favorite(really doesn't smell at all!) is Super Benek http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_litter/super_benek/461099 it's very much like Oko plus, but it doesn't track all over the house, and it is cheaper!

Ok, now to tackle the smell! I once had a flat where one of my cats had sprayed the entire living room. I tried everything to get rid of the stink(and I mean EVERYTHING). The only thing that worked was Simple Solution https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Cats/Simple-Solution-Stain-Odour-Remover-Cats-Litre/B005GO2VX4/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1487580673&sr=8-6&keywords=simple+solution I had tried all the other cleaners including Urine Off, etc, but they did bugger all. This stuff really works! For tough smells, you may have to use it twice, but it does work! Get the biggest bottle you can, and transfer it to a cheap spray bottle(get a funnel, so you don't spill it everywhere when transferring).

Remove everything from your room except furniture(like you have). And literally soak your room with it. Clean the furniture with it by spraying it on. Leave for 20 mins or so, then wipe off. Spray the carpet etc. Now, the great thing about this stuff is you can use it in your washing machine. You can either put it in place of your washing powder, or, spray all your clothes with it prior to washing. Leave for 30 mins or so, then wash as normal. Do this with your curtains as well. Literally, anything that can be sprayed or washed, do it with this stuff.

The only thing that might be a problem is your mattress. They really aren't easy to clean and if the smell has penetrated deep, you may have to get a new mattress. But you can try spraying it. I would tip the mattress onto it's side and spray it well, all over, and leave it to dry. You may have to sleep on the sofa for a night though.

You can also spray your shoes with this stuff to kill any odor, including sweaty feet smells. Or if you or a friend throws up, it will kill vomit smells. It's really great for anything like that. So always keep a bottle on hand for accidents! Since finding this stuff, I never have a problem with cat smell, and I have always got my deposit back from landlords.

Good luck! I hope this helps :)

As a habit, you should always isolate a new cat(s) that are new to a territory already belonging to another cat. He's not used to their scent, so he's marking this as HIS place HIS human HIS purse (possibly especially because YOU are his and tha'ts your purse). The damage may have already been done, but reintroducing them is a good idea.

Anoother trick you can use is to associate the cats with food. Feed them near each other - in this case, move his bowls to in front of the door behind which you're keeping the "intruders". Try old tshirts - put one in with the new cats, one with yours, then swap them to get them used to the scent.

As for pee smell, try http://www.amazon.com/Fizzion-Remover-Refill-Tablets-2-Pack/dp/B0035MTMMM

Honestly, I don't know if your purse CAN be saved.

I know you're mad at him, but he's stressed about these other cats. They're in HIS space. They're taking HIS space. It's a good idea to reassure him, get even more litterboxes placed where he tiddles the most (it's reinforcing "if you must pee, pee in box") even if it means you have a dozen boxes around your home.

It's also likely the other cat not being spayed triggered some of his territory-marking. Even neutered, they have sexual responses to things, and if she wanted to get jiggy, then he wants to say HEY THERE LADY'S IN MY HOUSE

Spaying a cat is good. Aside from unwanted kittens it lowers the rate for many illness' including UTI's and uterine and ovarian cancer. I say that you may not know if she did have a UTI because cats normally will not show signs of distress unless deathly ill, it's a survival technique. If a cat in the wild showed weakness or illness they would be a quick pray so they keep it to a minimum, if that's even the case, it may not be.

If your cat did have a UTI it could very well make her want to urinate else where. Cats will avoid most things that cause them pain and if they associate the litter box with pain they will find another place t go. To try and stop this you will have to clean it up, obviously, but you'll also have to kill the enzymes in the urine. To do that you have to buy something to do this, this works well for that.

I know this is weird but I wanted to share it with you guys. After going through potty training 3 different dogs, and having one that had some spay incontinence our living room carpet was a mess. We've had it professionally cleaned and did it ourselves, but if you got close to it, it still smelled like pee! Gross. I bought this from Walmart and it's great. I sprayed about 40% of the bottle on the carpet until it was saturated, put down a layer of baking soda, let it sit over night and vacuumed it up the next day and the carpet is like new again. I repeated the pattern the next day just to be thorough job.

I just wanted to share because I know lots of you are animal lovers too.
