General Electric WX09X10004 3 Wire 30amp Dryer Cord, 6-Feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IPUA5ZW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_adxBDbJCJH0BB
Cheapest n easiest route is to jus replace the cord. Most come with instructions n its very easy n requires jus a phillips screwdriver and/or a nut driver. Local Home Depot’s and Walmarts should carry them.
Probably these things have been around for awhile.
I had a similar issue with my dryer a month or two ago, power went out, and came back, and suddenly the dryer wouldn't turn on. After some debugging, I found that the likely failed component was either the high-limit thermostat or another fuse immediately before it.
I picked up this kit of whirlpool fuses/thermostat, and everything came back to life once I put 'em in!
So, I'm not saying that a similar fuse is your problem, but it was in my case (where the situation was similar).
Sounds like a bad timer dial switch. They are mechanical, and they can and will fail.
If you are not handy, then have a pro replace it. If they come back with $275 or something high, you can replace it yourself:
https://www.amazon.com/Whirlpool-W10185972-Timer-for-Dryer/dp/B005ARC2E0
For illustration only. I have no idea the make and model of your unit. But they only take a few minutes to change.
Could be that. This is what we purchased and installed: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072ZB65RP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_WTIGDbVCZG5F4
We also replaced the heating element at one point, but we purchased that part from Sears.
This is just a Maytag Neptune with a different label
https://www.amazon.com/Maytag-Neptune-Washer-Bearings-12002022/dp/B00K5RF7IS
If the seal is that bad, the bearings are too. You should replace the spider arm assembly too.

this is almost certainly the solution. As noted, heating element is easily tested with continuity tester. The heating element for this model is $22, or $18 on Amazon. Generic works fine. You can keep your old fuse as a standby replacement.
You may have a peephole in the front of the unit you can pop off to watch it run. I’d just replace these and see how it does. They are cheap. https://www.amazon.com/Supco-DE382WR-Electrolux-5303931775-Whirlpool/dp/B00CD6SAC4
This is ours:

Although the biggest holes could allow a note to slip through, stuff like tissues and hair bobbles and raffle tickets (?) generally accumulate on top of the 'gaps'.

This is the kit you need. Send me a PM if you need guidance. I did two of these today alone.
So this one: https://www.amazon.com/Variable-Speed-Grooming-Dryer-Purple/dp/B00SZ0Q4YI/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=K-9%2BIII%2BVariable&qid=1574440183&s=pet-supplies&sr=1-1&th=1 ?
I was lookin gat this one: https://www.amazon.com/K-9-Velocity-Professional-Grooming-Blower/dp/B00HP8MNM8/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=K-9+II&qid=1574440631&s=pet-supplies&sr=1-9
But I guess the differeence is that one is variable and one isn't?
Sorry couldn't remember it when I posted but it is a Maytag Bravos and here is the tool and parts:

Edit: found the model
Keep the awesome old washer. Get your drain cleaned and buy something like this
https://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Lint-Filter-Drain-Screen/dp/B005E0M14E
Thanks for the reply.
I'm not looking to fit a new dishwasher, so when the light-grey pipe comes out there won't be anything else connecting to the clamped bracket that's circled in red. Would something like a trap blanking cap (like this) do the job?
Thanks again for the help. I haven't yet determined if this is the right one, but a quick search and I found that at least some come with the hole... although the one on mine certainly doesn't look all that smooth!
Check this out at Amazon.com
GE WE16M15 Blower Wheel for Dryer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005B4AKLY/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_Wb8TAbFBD7Y5Z
Is that site reliable to buy from?
I also found this: https://www.amazon.com/WP3392519-Replacement-Whirlpool-PS345113-AP6008325/dp/B01DYR2EU4
Would this also work? I see that it has "AP6008325" in the title, which is the same part number as in that applicancepartspros link, but its part number is different
Amazon shows one for under $19.00

This comes with owning a husky.
As some others have mentioned get a robot vacuum, they are life savers when it comes to the fur, but you have to run them a couple of times a day. You may want to splurge on the new Roomba that self empties too - that'll be our next one when the current one gives up the ghost because you have to empty them pretty often and it's 99% fur. Frequent brushing can help as well, and we actually have a good groomers blower. That one is a bit overkill, but fur flies off them and it makes drying them after a bath super easy.
