Obligatory link to faucet lock.

This is getting to become a specialty of mine; yesterday I was linking to a locked container to prevent fridge bandits.

I bought some coolant pipe hose for the spine and a Furby off eBay. I watched some tutorials on how to longify him but ultimately totally winged it and I think Handsome Jerome turned out wonderfully (see my post history). He is hand sewn and stuffed with inexpensive polyfill. I bought my fabric to make him in person so I could feel it—1/2 yard of the body, 1/4 yard of his belly.

u/MatthewTheManiac · 10 pointsr/LongFurbies

I use these Leadingstar GEN09015 Plastic... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008O14864?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

u/yboold · 5 pointsr/LongFurbies

i used this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008O14864/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and it was cheaper than the spines sold on ebay! i used 3 out of the 6 so you can make 2 long furbies from this

A bit too paranoid to share pics but here are my thoughts:

Obviously somewhat near to where you can park your car is priority one. I ended up changing where I park to be nearer the house because of where on the wall I put the charger (my driveway is very sloped so there were not many choices of where it could go and be able to parked near).

Next would be if you have an overhang along part of your house so the charger is generally not getting rained or snowed on (at least when there isnt a strong wind.

Third would be to consider where the hose will hang. In general you want to be able to wrap the cord around a hanger, so plan for that. Dont want the cable touching the ground or sitting in a puddle or snowbank. If you want more suggestions about a specific cord hanger I'd imagine something like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N54VII2/ would do the trick.

If it's a standard size thread 35lb oil carboy/cubee, you should be able to get a spigot designed for exactly this kind of thing:

http://www.centrafoods.com/blog/the-2-best-ways-to-dispense-a-35-lb.-container-carboy-of-edible-oil

You could also probably just rig it with a cheap condiment pump, though that may be a bit messier if you're not careful:

https://www.katom.com/028-3831063P.html

The simplest option would probably just be to elevate the cubee, get some food grade tubing and one of these valves, and just syphon it.

I've tried a few and settled on Goodyear and Craftsman black rubber hoses, but you should also look at Eley if cost is not a significant factor.

Cheap ones as you say are useless and disposable.

I tried a heavy Swan commercial grade one. It was annoyingly stiff and heavy and kinked hard. It was moderately difficult to kink, but once kinked it stayed permanently kinked. It has one of those impressive sounding, but useless warranties. It has a 10 year warranty, but to claim on it you need not only the receipt but also the packaging the hose came in. I don't know what sort of hoarder you'd need to be to have tucked away last year's garden hose packing.

The black rubber ones are not as hard to kink, but when they do kink you can just shake the kink out and it is not ruined at that spot. They are also not that expensive. Maybe $30 for 50'

I've also got an Eley that I'm very happy with. It's more expensive than the rubber ones, and probably even better. They are $50 for 50' and you will probably have to pay shipping as I don't see them in my local stores. Their hose reels are awesome too.
http://www.eleyhosereels.com/accessory/polyurethane-garden-hose/

I've got 600' or 1000' of hose at a time and sometimes leave them where people will drive over them so decent and not too expensive is the right option for me. If you only need one hose for yard use and put it away when you are finished with it Eley might be a better option for you.

On a related note look at Dramm quick disconnects

I bought this ball and socket hose on Amazon. link to hose It's 1/4 inch which turned out to be too small for my long denim furby. I think it would work for a smaller furby with more flexible fabric. I'm looking for something similar that's 3/4 inch or larger if anyone has a link :)

u/avp411 · 3 pointsr/smoking

I have the same smoker and had the same problem. You need to get a new hose/regulator. The one that comes with it does not allow for much adjustment of the propane tank. I purchased this one and it's way easier to regulate temps now.

u/hairy_testicles · 3 pointsr/arduino

I prefer these, over a gorilla pod, just remove the nozzle, insert a screw into the nozzle, crimp a clamp on it, and go. Similar to the helping hands Hobby Creek sells.

u/NYScott · 3 pointsr/HomeImprovement

I don't use a sprinkler, but have you used the faucet connector & adjusted the built-in valve? That should give you the flow control you're looking for. There are also hoses with flow adjusters built in (example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MQSL4HK), or just a simple flow controller (ex: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074CBHQJ9). Plenty of solutions, if that's you're only complaint.

To be honest, I don’t know, it came with my initial 1gallon beer kit.

Found it here on amazon, also the auto siphon is great.

You might be able to find a cheaper one this is what I use. Do yourself a favor, because that is not stable and you can damage your charging cable.

It's because it's actually flexible tubing for coolant: (forgive the mobile paste) Leadingstar GEN09015 Plastic Flexible Water Oil Coolant Pipe Hose, 6-Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008O14864/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_6bHXKRlBQQs2B

I use one of these adapters directly to my kitchen sink. Super easy.

u/philsredditaccount · 2 pointsr/Homebrewing

An alternative I use so that I don't have to carry 5 gallons of boiling hot liquid down a flight of stairs is this. It's great, you can couple your chiller to your kitchen sink.

Most of the low-end electric pressure washers come with plastic connectors that attach your hose to the body of the washer. These usually leak water even if you use thread seal tape. To solve this problem, you should purchase some brass connectors off Amazon or your local hardware store. They screw on to your washer with one piece and another piece to your hose.

http://www.amazon.com/Gilmour-7FHS7FH-Double-Female-Connector/dp/B000FJYR5K/
^ This part would connect to the unit directly
http://www.amazon.com/Gilmour-09QCGT-2-Piece-Green-Connector/dp/B000BQS2I0/
^ One part would connect to your hose and the other would attach to the brass connector that's connected to the body of your washer. Make sure you attach it tightly and/or use thread seal since leaks may still occur but shouldn't if attached properly.

I have these:
Dramm 22729 Heavy-Duty Quick Disconnect Brass https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002J0PMOS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_6JKgzbQSC5ACH

Pricey, but I have beat the crap out of them for 3 years. Zero leaks. Always work as expected.

u/Can_not_Be_Repaired · 2 pointsr/Plumbing

this to this to this
of course you could just buy this

u/QuantumCabbage · 2 pointsr/arduino

They are basically slightly modified flexible coolant pipes with crocodile clips screwed in the tips. If you're on a tight budget you can buld the thing using very cheap components instead of splurging for the finished product.

u/awayfromdesk · 2 pointsr/aquarium

There is not enough oxygen in the water. Get a bubbler or another filter that can add more oxygen to the water. thats why theyre jumping out.

remember that water temp changes (by a few degrees) is alot for fish. when im changing the temperature from 80 to 76 it takes me about 2 weeks. Its a very slow process. I would recommend getting this, and this . It makes water changes a breeze. The first is a must if you're lugging water. The second is amazing. I use it because i have extremely mineral heavy water and it really works, I've been doing water changes with these for over two years and I haven't had any issues. The advantage of the tap adapter is that you can add hot water until the water temperature reads the same as the water in the tank.

The filter eliminates 99% chlorine. There are other filters that are cheaper but i haven't found another that eliminates chlorine as well. For good measure you can still add half a dose of stress coat +.

I use one of these to connect the male end of my hose to my spigot. The female end can then hook up to my plate chiller. Another hose on the out side of the chiller is hooked up and the male end ran to my sink.

u/justiceorjustus · 1 pointr/lawncare

This: https://www.amazon.com/Avalon-Bay-Garden-Protector-Spring/dp/B075G329L1

I actually have a 10ft lead hose coming from my spigot to my timer, and my timer is just laying on the ground. I did this in case the timer ever failed then the water would be farther away from my foundation.

u/anotherUNIdropout · 1 pointr/Homebrewing

I can't see corrosion ever being a problem, especially given the small amount of time they will be in contact with each other. Sadly though, I've tried chilling a batch this way before and it was a disaster - I needed far more ice/water than expected or practical. Imo you'd have more success with the no-chill method. EDIT: If it's just the tap that's the problem, try a hose connector as these will fit most.

I've been thinking of something like this flexible coolant hose and modeling up a screw on base with mounting holes and a camera holder for the other end.

I've thought of mounting it either on the control case where those random screws are or drilling my own holes on the left side of the vertical support.

Ever since I started using Quick Connects I have not had a leak from a faulty washer in a hose.

My setup is:

City Water spigot > quick connect \> pressure regulator with mesh filter > Y connector w/individual on/off valves > 20 ft drinking water hose > quick connect > > RV input

The second output from the y connector goes to a marine hose > water meter \> 45 degree strain relief > RV black tank sprayer inlet.

I carry 2 20' fresh water hoses, 2 20' marine hoses and coil them up and screw the ends together to keep things out.

I know if you order these like I did, you'll be mad as they like to pop off unexpectedly for no reason. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DND1RZX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The MDF base board was like $12 at Home Depot, I had them cut it in half. The arms are these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008O14864/ if you didn't see the link. I think the hardware store has gator clips for like $3. I guess with Sparkfun you're really paying for the aluminum base.

I got a brass quick connect fitting like that from amazon amazon brass qc

u/Nola-Smoke · 1 pointr/Multicopter

THE ZON!

I don't know if people realize this but those arms are used to direct streams of water for a bunch of applications like CNC work.

Off the top of my head, I think it started with this one:

https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/gardenhose6.htm

They are out of stock, but you can usually get those at any Home Depot/Lowes or Wallyworld. US Shower threads are 1/2 inch NPT.

Into what might be one of these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WZYK4M6/

Splitter side A: Has some high temp RV hose on one side with a cheaper plastic version of one of these on it: https://www.amazon.com/PLG-Sweeper-Nozzle-Shut-Off-Garden/dp/B07Q3PBRRF/

Splitter side B: has the male Camlock connector on it that I linked earlier since all of my hoses except one have females on them.

sounds like you got it to stop leaking but if it still does you can try getting one of these https://www.amazon.com/Gilmour-Brass-Hose-Caps-05HCC/dp/B000CSXIMW as a cheap fix instead of changing the valve

u/Downvotes_catpics · 1 pointr/fixit

Faucet to 3/4 garden adapter, generally. The aerator on the end of the faucet should thread off. Most do. If yours doesn't, it's either stuck or is one of the rare models that don't have a removable aerator.

u/ghostbuster_b-rye · 1 pointr/tifu

I wasn't implying they need to put cages in their room. There are other ways of putting barriers over barriers. Like, say, a locked box around the lock. As the host you have to think of how securely you've trapped your guests. You can use all the rope you'd like to tie someone to a chair, but if you leave enough slack, they can just stand up and leave.

u/Mochaboys · 1 pointr/Multicopter

This took me 5 minutes to put together.

Commercial Version:
hobby creek version

Materials List:

  1. The threaded connector on the hoses is a 1/2"-20 thread. So grab a spade bit or 1/2" bit and drill as many holes as you want into your base.

  2. Don't make the mistake I made and either use a dense hardwood for the weight, or offset the mounting holes further back so it doesn't tip forward.

  3. Insert the coolant hoses and hot glue from the bottom then around the base and let that set

  4. drill the tube openings to the diameter of the alligator clip arm (about 1/4") but make sure it's snug, smaller is better than bigger.

  5. shoot some glue into the tube opening as well as the alligator clip

  6. slide on a tiny piece of heatshrink onto the tube

  7. push the alligator clip into the tube then heat the heatshrink around the connection (I used marine heatshrink which has a built in heat activated adhesive to help this connection)

  8. grab some rubber dots or no slip feet and stick them on the bottom of your base board.

The amazon link I linked to sells the hoses in packs of 6 so you can make one for yourself and a friend, or do what hobby creek did and fix 4 arms to the base (which in my opinion is a little overkill).

    It's not 100% rigid, but for a $9 build, it's "rigid enough".

Get one of [these] (http://www.amazon.com/Gilmour-Brass-Hose-Caps-05HCC/dp/B000CSXIMW) first, in case you get debri in the valve and it won't close completely.

u/djwonderful · 1 pointr/gardening

I would get a second opinion on what I say, I'm in the US for reference.

You can do direct with this adapter:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#73605t82/=11qzyxz

edit: Looks like amazon has it too. http://www.amazon.com/Anderson-Metals-Garden-Fitting-Connector/dp/B000JQJZLU/

Looks like your irrigation kit will attach to your valve directly.

u/texnate · 1 pointr/Homebrewing

I've looked around a bit and it seems like the only ones I can find are all hose thread sized so your easiest option would probably be an adapter like the one I posted above connected to a regular hose quick disconnect.

If it was me I'd probably just use a 3/4 fht x 1/2 mpt pvc adapter to connect a regular garden hose quick connect and on the other side use a 1/2 mpt x whatever size you like barb adapter to connect your silicone tubing to.
