Just an FYI: that's not actually newspaper, it's wax paper created specifically for food service use.
In many places, it's against health department regulations to use real newspaper for serving food, so companies have begun making wax paper that looks like newspaper so that places that traditionally used newspaper, like for fish & chips, can continue the same look, but comply with health department regulations.
You can cut 80% more weight off with this.

Just throw away the roll, and overlap layers as you need.
Storage is easy, wrap it around your leg or arm when not in use and it becomes wearable weight.
It is even cheaper than buying sleeves
r/sousvide might be a good place to crosspost this, but before pursuing the wrap approach, you'll probably want to be very certain that you are using the correct type of wrap. This is the correct type according to chefsteps, and they tend to know what they are talking about
Just buy a bunch and keep them in the office or your car or whatever. I mean, shit, they're 2 and a half bucks each. Amazon
stretch-tite. seriously.
The fix was made years ago!
The wood is gross but the paper is actually a deli square printed to look like newspaper

Even if you do lose them you can buy more for a couple of bucks. Well worth it!
https://www.amazon.com/Tablecraft-KK3-1-Roll-Kenkut-Wrapper/dp/B004I3VSPQ?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2 this kind of thing works. Worth it. Seriously.
Time to go buy one of these and do some wrapping
I do this, but you don't have to look for a shower cap. These are available at my local Walmart, and not only do they work on the fire alarm, but the large size works great for covering my bowls while rising.

I just found some on Amazon in shorter lengths.
SealWrap 30540400 Cling Classic ZipSafe Plastic Wrap, 18" Wide by 2000' Length, PVC, Clear https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWLDGVP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ogVPBbMNR7D0F
Depending on where you live, you can get it at costco, a restaurant supply store that's open to the public (Cash&Carry is my favorite), or something else along those lines.
You can also get it on amazon:
$25.71 shipped with Prime for the wide one; about $21 for the smaller one.
Press n Seal
So, uh, this then? Looks to be the same, and I don't have a Costco/Sam's card, so I use Amazon.
Make sure the box is very sturdy, that shit can't move or you're fucked. Take whatever you want to cover, set it directly in between you and the wrap. Pull the wrap up, then towards you, and stick it to the subject of the wrapping, make sure it's pulled tight, it should look like you could bounce a quarter off that shit. Grasp the plastic wrap very near the blade with your left hand, then QUICKLY run your finger from the left to the right directly in front of the blade. It should cut through smooth as a samurai sword.
ninja edit: it helps that I use really big boxes, so they're pretty heavy and stay pretty well weighted down on the table. If you can find a big-ass box (like this) it would help a lot.

I have used stretch-tite for years and prefer it to all other wraps. You can get a huge several years supply of 3000 sq. ft. for a little less than $20.00 +$1.99 shipping (shipping wt. is 9.2 pounds).

Some "atypical" stuff:
Plastic Wrap That particular brand is my favorite. Very glossy, smooth, and tightens just the right amount (not too much, but enough).
Microfoam tape soft, stretchy, skin-safe tape. Perfect for mouths, eyes, and other openings :) Not strong enough to hold someone in a bind (like around the wrists) but good for other purposes.
Vinyl Tape Good for more secure bindings, but be careful stretching it too tight, can really shrink back up and squeeze someone too hard.
etc :)

I think ever since people started using electrostatic tape in kink, savvy marketers have started putting that into their products' search terms so it's harder to sort through to find the stuff that isn't overpriced and marketed for bedroom play. It's something else you can try searching for.
And this isn't bondage tape, but you can keep your rope bunny fresh and free from fridge odors. ;) (I am in no way advocating the placing of submissives into any kitchen appliances; please contain submissives responsibly.)

Saved someone else’s life because you can’t be an asshole and leave the plastic wrap like that.
No to use in the dishwasher , Yes In the microwave. They make food wrap for cold and hot environments. Behold Saran Wrap. There are other brands that you can use, but that's what I use.
ghetto rig https://www.amazon.com/Saran-Premium-Plastic-Wrap-100/dp/B00JPKW1RQ/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1468275848&sr=8-1&keywords=saran this on the mask if you can't wait for vr cover
Looks to me like it holds industrial sized cling wrap, similar to this item. https://www.amazon.com/Tablecraft-KK3-1-Roll-Kenkut-Wrapper/dp/B004I3VSPQ?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2
I’m about to blow your fucking mind

The Kirkland brand works just as well. Only $21. https://www.amazon.com/Kirkland-Signature-208733-Stretch-tite-3000/dp/B001OID26G/ref=pd_sbs_328_5?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B001OID26G&pd_rd_r=V6YHTYSTA28E7M5E7Y0B&pd_rd_w=1Wnlh&pd_rd_wg=im1AC&psc=1&refRID=V6YHTYSTA28E7M5E7Y0B
Just an example, but the best cling wrap out there
I used to buy Saran Wrap, switched over to a generic when it was cheap as hell. Hated it. It stuck to itself, didn't stick to the container, and ripped constantly. Randomly found Stretch-Tite at Costco one day and picked it up. Best stuff ever. Thicker than Saran Wrap so not as delicate, but otherwise just as easy to work with. Usually a lot cheaper than what I can find Saran Wrap for too.

Panty items rotate. maybe next month there will be more options.
