Especially since these exist.

(I own a few. They work great.)

u/fatduebz · 13 pointsr/Whatcouldgowrong

There are ways to make drinking straight whiskey a pleasant experience, but it starts with drinking a couple tiers above the standard Jack Daniels and Jim Beam fare. My preference is straight with a big ice cube ( they make a Death Star ice cube mould, it's the bee's knees for this ).

u/rezinball · 10 pointsr/shutupandtakemymoney

This buyer says they work great and has pictures.

u/hebug · 7 pointsr/cocktails

I just use the Tovolo cube tray and empty them into a clean tupperware so they don't pick up off flavors.

Takes barely any room which is good since our freezer is always packed.

u/jeebuschristo · 6 pointsr/samoyeds

Ice! I use these ice cube trays which make obnoxiously large sized cubes. (They take much longer to melt). Throw a few in the water bowl, and keep a bunch of extra around for them to chew on throughout the day. Also, refrigerate their water instead of using tap water.

We also keep the AC on all day. The bill sucks, but we figured that into the cost of owning this breed.

Most importantly, and this should be obvious, but never ever clip or shave your pup. While their coat does help them withstand extremely cold temperatures, it also insulates them from the heat. So, it's actually okay to take your Samoyed on very short walks on a hot day.

u/m0129 · 5 pointsr/Cooking

These look like the trays in 21 if anyone is interested. I liked the idea of frozen cubes of sauce.

u/lindsayjar · 3 pointsr/ketorecipes

I make mine in a silicone ice cube tray. (like this )

1 tsp in each square, then three minutes in my 700w microwave (adjust your time accordingly), and they come out perfect every time.

A pic of my first or second batch

I got the trays from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008ML0YVE

They are most excellent for making smoothies and cooling off fresh-brewed iced tea quickly.

u/Nparallelopposite · 3 pointsr/axolotls

I'll just give you my generalize copy/pasta I usually hand out in situations like these so if you wanna read it when you got a chance, then you have it! Also has tips and purchase links for Amazon as well for different axolotl stuffs.

HOW TO CYCLE:

  1. Set up tank with clean conditioned water. 2. Add recommended amount of beneficial bacteria per label

  2. Add "waste" to the tank, so a little bit of say fish flakes ( they're cheap and you need a waste source since you DO NOT put a fish or axolotl in a uncycled tank. The flakes are gonna break down into ammonia. The goal with cycling is to get benefical bacteria to build up so they can change (eat) the waste & breaks down the ammonia into nitrite then finally break it down further into nitrate. All these chemicals can hurt axolotl.

  3. Test tank a couple days later with a testing kit ( avoid strips, they will lie to you and give false results) if there is ANY ammonia or nitrite present, you arent cycled. If there is no nitrate present either, you arent cycled.

  4. If you find ammonia or nitrite, take 50% of the water out and add clean treated water. Add more seachem stability ( benefical bacteria) ( add these each time you change water. Even if it's cycled)

  5. Add a pinch more flakes & Continue to do this until your tank is cycled. Meaning you have no ammonia, no nitrite and a presence of 40ppm or less of nitrate.

    Warnings:
1.If your tank isn't cycled, you are going to chemical burn them with ammonia in the water. And they will suffer. Nitrate ( the final of the chemical process) can also burn the fish/axolotl. This is why we keep this number under 40ppm. If it is higher than 40ppm, change the water 75%.

  6. This beneficial bacteria lives in the filter. If you change your filter, you just ruined your cycle. Don't do this. If it gets nasty/clogged & you have to replace the cartirage, leave the old cartirage in with the new one for a few days so the beneficial bacteria can inhabit the new filter. If you can avoid replacing that, just rinse/gently squeeze out the filter in old tank water when you do clean the tank to keep from murdering the bacteria
  7. Letting the filter dry out will also kill a cycle.

  8. *NOTE: Most bottles of beneficial bacteria say they cycle a tank in a day. Cycling can take up to a month in some cases but usually just two weeks if you keep on it. This requires constantly monitoring, testing and replacing most of the water in the tank when you get high ammonia/nitrite levels. You need ammonia/nitrite to be 0 and nitrate to be more than 0. Definitely less <40. If all your levels are higher than this, or if nitrate remains 0, your tank isn't cycled.***

    Summery;
So basically, cycling builds beneficial bacteria which makes these waste breakdown chemicals go through a cycle of breaking down into a less dangerous form which keeps fish/axolotl from getting sick/dying. ... Most new fish people don't do this. And fish store employees try & tell them just adding something like seachem stability fixes this. It doesn't. An uncycled tank is basically new tank syndrome and it kills animals.

You still are going to need to keep an eye on chemical levels after the cycle..Occasionally different things can cause the cycle to "crash", like changing the filters or a high tempeture, or the filters becoming dry..

Once your tank is cycled, and you have an axolotl, honestly it's not that much work. The cycles the worst part. I feed my adult axolotls once every other day, I change 75% of their water twice a month, and add water to top it off / spot clean occasionally two-three other times a month due to the water I lose due to evaporation.

    Stuff you'll need:
  9. Air stone+ airline+ air pump ( cheap ones are at Walmart.
  10. Seachem stability ( beneficial bacteria)
  11. Seachem prime ( it's a water conditioner I just prefer seachem)
  12. A tank, 10 gallon minimum for 1 axolotl. But the bigger the better.
  13. A filter
  14. Hides for the axolotl
  15. A syphon / water vacuum ( to suck out the poo/change water easy. I have a long food grade plastic hose I got from Ace hardware. I syphon and let it drain into the yard
  16. A bucket
  17. A Tupperware
  18. A fan. Literally any fan you can put on top the tank and point at it will work. I have a table fan sitting on top my tank and blowing at the water to help keep it cool. A chiller is best, but they are expensive.
  19. A tank thermometer ( don't get the thermometer strips, they lie
  20. A master fresh water test kit.
  21. Worms or repashy or pellets

  26. Shower poof ( hang these so they slow the flow of water coming out of filter. Axolotls don't like a lot of heavy water flow. Get these at the dollar store and rinse them before going in tank. You don't have to get these online. I'm just showing you)

  29. Hides. Here's a good example..I soemthing similar. Just go to the reptile section at your pet store. Get one that's not rough but smooth. Plastics a good option. Just rinse it well before you put it in tank

Feeding tongs: They're actually tweezers for planting a planted fish tank. These can grip worms very well.. The Amazon ones that are silver suck and will make your life hell. Don't waste your money on ones on amazon unless you can find these on Amazon.

Ice cube trays for the mold? hmm, I like that plan. Actually I've got two of these for bong ice:

I might have to make use of that to make some mini pop in your mouth ones...

What was your recipe? I've tried HFCS in the past, but I've found a sugar only recipe that I want to try out ...

Better ice trays and proper mixing glass is on my wish list

u/exitflow · 2 pointsr/gifs

Conduction does a much better job at transferring heat than convection, and we can clearly see the condensation forming on the metal part on the bottom, so clearly the temperature of the metal has dropped to the dew point (or below) of the area. So...there's definitely heat transfer and it's definitely way more effective than just letting the ice sit and melt due to atmospheric conditions.

Also why not just make an ice sphere tray like this: http://www.amazon.com/Kotobuki-Sphere-Ball-Tray-Medium/dp/B00832F71O

Good luck.

u/booksprout · 2 pointsr/AskCulinary

Totally off topic with lettuce, but I use ice cube trays to store chopped or cut herbs in a tsp or so of olive oil. After they're frozen, pop them out and store them in a freezer bag for easy use. Especially useful for herbs (like chives) that lose a bit of their flavor when dried.

Edit: clarification

Want your own balls to be made of ice? Buy this.

u/emnemzzz · 2 pointsr/bettafish

It was most likely the copper sulfate that did it :(

For the zucchini, I cut it up and blanch it first to soften it up, which is basically just boiling it for a few minutes but not fully cooking it, then rinse with cold water and stick them in the freezer. I like to lay them out on a plate first then put them in a freezer bag later on, otherwise they all freeze together in a clump. I use a veggie clip, and just stick it to the tank wall and it’ll thaw out quick once it’s in the water. I take out whatever hasn’t been eaten (if it hasn’t already been demolished) within a day or two so it doesn’t get gross in the tank

As for the gel, I use 1-2 tbsp of repashy soilent green, 1/2 tbsp of calcium carbonate power, 1 cube of frozen blood worms, and some boiled, dechlorinated water (2 parts water 1 part repashy powder). Then just mix together well and let it set 20-30 mins. You can cut it into pieces after it sets, otherwise I find it easier to pour it into these little molds then let it set:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L7ZFBXW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Nk8QDbCCR8ENN

Once it’s all set, refrigerate it and discard any leftovers after 2 weeks

Mystery snails eat a lot, but will always stop eating when they’re full and come back to the food later, unlike fish so don’t be worried about overfeeding. Besides making sure they get lots of nutrients, they’re pretty easy to care for and fun to watch. Good luck if you end up getting more!

I'm grateful for my fraternity. It's time to start thinking about the fall, and I'm holding three leadership positions. I never thought I'd do anything like this, because I was never popular or pretty or involved AT ALL in high school. My brothers have given me this opportunity and it's amazing.

This would be amazing, or for $10, this!

u/jmeows · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I could really use an ice cube tray as sad as that sounds. The dollar store ones keep breaking </3

u/Evergreen8080 · 2 pointsr/Tiki

Anyone ever use mini icecube trays like this? Thinking of giving it a shot:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01L7ZFBXW/ref=sspa_mw_detail_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I typically buy Chick-Fil-A or Sonic ice, but this might be better to have on hand.

u/DisRuptive1 · 2 pointsr/LifeProTips

I just purchased these from Amazon. They work as advertised. You still have to do the twisting to loosen them up but then you can let as many or as few out as you want.

u/iVandal · 2 pointsr/startrek

Does it need to be TNG specific? If anything Trek is fair game this pizza cutter is pretty clever.

I always think custom ice cubes are pretty fun also.

Again, this is more Voyager than Next Generation, but a cooking book with Neelix on the cover would make me laugh too.

Hope these help. There are tons of stuff. I'm sure you'll do great!

u/gl_vs_jedi · 2 pointsr/StarWars

These are made with an ice cube tray, which you can buy on Amazon (link below) or your local comics/games store (they can order them through Diamond). You paint the hard chocolate in first, put in the filling, then pour the rest of the chocolate in around the filling to finish.

http://www.amazon.com/Kotobukiya-Star-Wars-Millennium-Silicone/dp/B0069P0DS4

Edit: They also have X-wings, R2-D2, Han in carbonite, stormtrooper heads, and vader heads. They're pretty popular, so we should be seeing more of them.

u/HopelessSemantic · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I've never been to Detroit, but I hear that they have a floating post office that delivers mail to ships, which is pretty cool.

Montreal sucks.

I went to visit my dad in Florida this January, he just moved there last October. His roomate had this Guinea Pig named Guinea (SO ORIGINAL) and me and her became instant friends. She made the cutest damn noises ever! I took her out to play with her every day we were there. I felt bad, because she looked so lonely in her cage being an only child and all. I took some videos of her before we left. Late last month, I got the news that she had passed away. I was so sad, she seemed perfectly healthy only a month before. Guineas do not have the greatest life span I guess. So, I guess this was a little bittersweet more than super positive, but the positive thing to take away is when you get the opportunity to make someone (or something's) life better in even a small way, do so! They may not be there next time.
:) Also, I got to visit my dad and had a ton of fun!

I went ahead and invested in a RodeoH panty for the wife and had already previously had a Vixen Mustang I used myself. The wife liked the panties. The Mustang seems to be perfect for me as it's the right length to hit the right spot in all the positions we've done so far.

I use Sliquid Sassy and like it. Might try Gun Oil as I've heard good things. In addition, I sometimes will use a cube of frozen coconut oil and slide it in just before activities to make sure everything is lubed up well. I just throw the coconut oil into a pot, melt it and pour it into these, https://www.amazon.com/Prepworks-Progressive-Bottle-Stick-Trays/dp/B00J21CAWE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472925056&sr=8-1&keywords=bottle+ice+tray put them in the freezer and when they're frozen I transfer them into a zip lock bag and leave them in the freezer.

We don't use a condom

I bought one of these, http://www.cvs.com/shop/health-medicine/digestive-health/constipation-relief/cara-adult-enema-syringe-8-oz-prodid-743891?skuId=743891 haven't had any issues to date with anything on the dildo. I also ensure I do a daily fiber drink to make sure everything comes out like it should to begin with.

We use hot water to clean the dildo with soap. Keep in mind that the FDA just banned soaps from using anti bacterial. http://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/fda-orders-antibacterials-removed-consumer-soaps-n642036

Tip, I find it MUCH easier to let her bend me over the bed first to get things initially inserted and loosened up a little. From there we can move into different positions and insertion isn't an issue.

u/DonkeyKongSenior · 2 pointsr/ketorecipes

Silicone trays are useful for portioning and freezing, too. For example, I used one that is sort of large gum drop sized to portion bacon grease. Just need to drop one pellet in a pan before eggs.

I have a larger 1" cubes one I use for sauces. I take a bottle of Rao's and now I defrost 1 or 2 cubes depending on what I'm eating.

Edit: here's the second tray I mentioned. Ozera 2 Pack Silicone Ice Cube Tray Molds Candy Mold Cake Mold Chocolate Mold, 15 Cavity, Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P25U3PK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_TN4YAbJCK36Q0

You haven't lived until you'd use novelty kitten ice cubes. Plus they are very "cool" ;)

u/KittenAnne · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I can see someone getting me this because of name and all - and I would use it to make chocolates not ice cubes, but I wouldn't get it for myself because I have enough chocolate molds and I am actually rather picky on my cat/kitty items.

I would get myself this magic card because it is one of the last three I need for the Dragon's of Takhir set... and when I get this close and have magic money I tend to pick them up...

All my exes live in Texas, that's why I hang my hat in Tennessee.

u/awkwardlittleturtle · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I prefer one with a lid like this. Helps keep out odors and food crumbs. (Plus I always manage to spill water everywhere going from the sink to the freezer >.<)

If you use water bottles a lot, these are quite handy as well.

Thanks for the tip, I went and got three sets. They are a bit small but I'll make them work. Each well holds exactly 10g. I'm currently using these and they're really good, but I only have two sets and keep forgetting to get more.

u/O_thats_clever · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

You should get really good pots and pans ( clad aluminum, they should be heavy with tight lids, don't bother with the Walmart specials they are cheep because they are cheaply made), and a really really good kitchen knife. If you don't know how to cook you'll learn and good tools are very important for culinary success. Especially because your so pretty, I bet you'll be entertaining often.

My want it's in my kitchen wish list.

u/Cupcake_Kat · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

It might not be made of corn...or very biodegradable, but why would that matter?

u/vactuna · 1 pointr/BDSMcommunity

Use an ice ball mold so it takes a really, really long time to melt!

u/Quarantini · 1 pointr/startrek

Are you looking to do something classy/romantic, or are you going for silly/sexy/funny? For the latter maybe print out a photo on edible icing to put on the cake? For example take a screenshot of sexy Riker but photoshop her fiance's head on him. http://tng.trekcore.com/gallery/albums/publicity/season4/s4_riker.jpg

Getting a mold to do insignias in chocolate/candy to decorate might be an easy way to Trek it up too. For example https://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Starfleet-Silicone-Cube/dp/B00FS1S3CS or https://www.amazon.com/ICUP-Star-Trek-Cube-Tray/dp/B00KWBHH2Q

Kotobukiya also appears to make a ton of other awesome Star Wars-related ice cube trays.

u/etchedchampion · 1 pointr/santashelpers

This is amazing. So is this, and this.

u/mrgingerpants · 1 pointr/Throwers

It's supposed to be a large sphere, but this one had a flat spot. The purpose for this cube is to water down your drink less and melt slower because of the surface area of a single large cube vs multiple smaller cubes. You don't want to water down your cocktails.

BONUS: there are also Death Star shaped ones

I go to BU and MIT for biomedical engineering or course 20. I'm going into my sorta senior year. I probably need to take an extra semester so I'm in an odd situation right now. My senior project yearly class thingy needs to be delayed cause I haven't taken thermodynamics yet.

I'll be moving into a nice off campus studio and let's see...

This Brita pitcher is really nice for dorms. It's right above $10, but quite useful cause dorm water sucks.

I personally need these ice-cube trays cause it's bloody hot in Boston and I realize I haven't been making ice! XD

u/cthylla · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Depends what you define as silly.
I suppose on my list, that would be a tetris ice cube tray

And I have it on there because I don't have an ice cube tray. o.o But I don't use ice often enough to buy bags or whatever. And it's silly 'cause, well, it's ice and it's just going to melt does it matter what shape it's in? o.o

But it looks like fun.
