Nothing could ever get past me when I wore those hard plastic shitty foam filled pads.

Edit: My god, they still sell the EXACT same ones I had some 14 odd years ago, http://www.amazon.com/Mylec-MGP-Goalie-Pads/dp/B002LBE016

You want something designed to withstand real impacts, not just small incidentals from small rocks. If they have hard plates, they're probably thin and will probably break the first time you actually get hit.

Field hockey shin guards can be purchased for $20-40, and are generally considered your best option for combined safety and cost.

I LOVE this trampoline. I hate that it's in my living room... but I love how great it is for getting out those sudden bursts of energy. My son got it when he was 17 months old and took to it right away. He's 20 months now and gets some serious air. 4am. 9pm. Doesn't matter. When he's too squirmy to listen we tell him "go do some jumpin!" and he runs over to it, hangs on for dear life and jumps until he's out of breath. I suggest wrapping hockey tape around the padded handle bars though. They come foam covered, which is way too inviting for a teething toddler, but ever since I wrapped it we've had no bite issues.

I used this link for holding them up. They work really well. So far I have hung up 2 sticks with no problems

This is not a knock at all on all these new grip fads and I don’t know how else to say it, but why?

Something fun and interesting? Is it actually that much better/change things that much for people who aren’t playing at a junior, collegiate, or professional? Are people unhappy with the way normal tape works? Or this stuff?

Like I said, really not trying to knock anybody’s hustle, but honestly curious! When I was playing competitively in high school, all these things were made fun of kind of (not like that matters), have they improved that much?

If the surface is really smooth, a normal stick should be fine. If it's like a tennis court (or rougher, of course), a wood/composite stick will splinter. In that case, it would be best to get something with a full ABS blade, like this.

Real pucks tend to stick to the surface if it's too rough. For stickhandling training, use this. For shooting, use this. For just goofing off with friends, use this.

Go to lots public skates and and stick and pucks.

For stickhandling at home, I like to use a smart hockey stickhandling ball, has some weight to it and will roll so it simulates a puck decently well. You can also get a green biscuit, and/or use a slick board you can get from home depot as a stickhandling pad with actual pucks, thrify white board I think it's called.

Here's a couple of stickhandling drills videos:

Plenty more drills and tips on youtube and this sub if you search around. Coach Jeremy (/u/howtohockeydotcom, who started this sub) has a ton of great videos on his channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDGB6MoY1PIuX5oHJSH9Cgg

They're GT5000 grip tape

They're self adhesive tape which I can grip my mouse better. People use it on guns/cellphones.

Recently people use Lizard Skin hockey grip tape.

I noticed from previous posts, you're 5'8" so close to my height. If you wear 13"-14" shin pads, you can try intermediate hockey socks. I wear these socks and I don't even need shin guard tape anymore.

I have bought a couple from Amazon - they weren't too bad. Example

I currently wear something similar link below. They don't provide enough coverage to the calf (or my calf's are to fat). Most people that do leg hits on me are moving to the outside where the coverage is weakest. They are cheap and better than nothing but I would not recommend them. I hoping to try the kvetun shins I have herd good things

They still make those, only they've been updated to BLACK OR WHITE, probably aren't nearly the indestructible brown and foam pads I had in the 80s.

Glue a neodymium magnet to a command hook. Or a literal hockey puck, as /u/machinehead933 said. For bonus points, use air hockey pusher paddles.

Hockey tape Especially since I have never played Hockey in my life and have no intentions of doing so either.
