Yes, they hold much better than the rubber ones do so you’re less likely to lose them. I don’t do Disney pins but I do collect pins and have a jacket that’s practically covered. Since I switched to the locking backs I haven’t lost a pin.

Here an example on amazon

u/cealion · 11 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I don't know what kind you're looking for, but there are a lot of options such as one, two, and three on Amazon.

u/TryinToBeHelpfulHere · 11 pointsr/Etsy

My first time attempting to post a link, but you could slap these dollhouse tongs on one of these keychains and DIY that shiz.

u/Alex3324 · 9 pointsr/whatisthisthing

Wow! What an awesome reply. One additional use for the word “frog” which is in keeping with your explanation is the little metal or plastic clutch or keeper on the back of a lapel pin or tie tack. I was in the military for several years and that’s what we called them. link to example

Get some locking pin backs. They’ve saved my pins plenty of times.

u/Always_the_NewGuy · 5 pointsr/army

Here, they are called "Pin Backs"

u/iheartryo · 5 pointsr/DIY

I believe they are called Wire Keychain Cables. I found some here.

I use a few things. I use a FreeKey. to hold my car key, office key, Leatherman P4, & Preon P0. I also have a 6” cable ring that has house keys. The two rings are attached with a small black S binder. It allows me to leave my house keys in the car when I am at work so there is less pocket bulk. The FreeKey is a little thicker than a standard split ring so I have 9mm split rings as spacers on anything that has a small attachment hole.

You could likely find these at an art supply store as well.

u/Lurkndog · 3 pointsr/Survival

You could lose the multitool and whistle and fit plenty of other useful things in that tin. I'd suggest:

  • flat survival whistle
  • Bic Mini lighter
  • Tinder
  • Small roll of duct tape
  • Space blanket or Heatsheet
  • A wire key loop to keep everything together

I'd suggest a Victorinox SD pocket knife as a replacement for the multitool.
u/z-z-zz · 3 pointsr/Embroidery

I started making brooches kind of like these recently! Not the beaded ones, more like a blend between the other two.

I'm in no way an expert, but I just use cheapo acrylic-blend felt, normal embroidery floss, and pin backs . I embroider on one piece of felt, then cut another the same size that I sew the pin back to, and then stitch those together. There are probably much better ways to do it, but this has been pretty okay for getting started and messing around.

Here's a bad picture of a pin made with this method.

Edit: more pins.

u/lordguacc · 3 pointsr/Stretched

I use some similar to these that I bought at micheals.

Note: these will slice your ears if you use them alone, wear with caution through tunnels!

Clasps, hooks, lobster claws, etc. You can find them at JoAnn's and most fabric stores. Amazon has good deals on them too: https://amzn.com/B016QVTMF0

I have two of these lobster claw clasps on my keychain, for my flash drive and my Victorinox Minichamp, so they can detach easily.

u/fancyligature · 2 pointsr/woodworking

They look great! How did you finish them? I became obsessed with making some hybrid earrings earlier in the year but then spent a ton of time/money on the finish hardware because I like to punish myself. Ended up with a three stage buffing setup and custom making sterling silver hoops (expensive research there).

If you're at all like me and hate the bulky size/look of the eye screws I suggest using some regular eye pins like these by cutting them to length, rough sanding the section that goes into the piece, and using a two part epoxy to join (my go to is G/FLEX)--you can clean excess epoxy with a paper towel and rubbing alcohol assuming you haven't applied a finish yet.

Holy smokes, Batman! - it's on the more expensive side of you limit, butttt relevant, so I had to put it on there :P

This is a far less expensive addon that I would love also :)

Thanks for the contest!
P.S. I NEED to see the finished costume when you put it all together...this is not a want...but a yes, you need pictures!!!

I would stock up on essentials first, food, water, nitrous oxide (to give me a brief but temporary high in those especially low times).

Then I'd cloister myself away in my home or some safe, sturdy structure and hit my stockpile of [steel split rings](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OVI0AC?ie=UTF8&tag=httpdarthcont-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000OVI0AC">50 Split Rings Nickel Plated 9mm</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=httpdarthcont-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B000OVI0AC" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;") to painstakingly fashion a suit of split ring mail, impervious to zombie claws and bites. They might be able to grab and squeeze the blood out of my skin, but damn zombies will not chomp chunks of my flesh through that, by God.

Of course I'd also keep a shotgun with me to stave off the inevitable zombie rush.

These also work for making pants bigger!

You could just get some of the ada button things

I recommend also getting these because the clasps on those ada button things isn't great.

  1. This or these

  2. This so reminds me of my dog I know this is not a gif but I think you'll appreciate it.

  3. What is the 3rd thing?!?!?

  4. don't worry, be happy
u/salliek76 · 1 pointr/whatisthisthing

This is definitely the correct answer. They are a type of butterfly clutch, just plastic instead of metal. Here are some that look just like the one in OP.

I've got both of those! I find LR Vivi Nova heads work better. The Vivi Nova in general has wicking issues, and I think the higher resistance heads just have too much surface area and the wick can't keep up. Even at the same wattage, I tend to get more dry hits on the HR heads. As for the Nova itself, it has wicking problems. If you vape it hot, prepare to tilt it constantly to keep the coil wet and stop dry hits. It also mutes the flavor.

That said, I still like my Nova, and just got my mini nova yesterday. I'd suggest it, just know that it isn't perfect, but it is cheap.

For rebuilding it, you need silica or cotton wicks, a resistance wire (32 or 34 gauge nichrome or kanthal), and a non-resistance wire (I suggest using this silver, you NEED the silver or you'll burn the silicone). Check YouTube to find out how to build it.

I've sadly lost so many pins to junk backings.

I swap and use these and have had zero issues.

I am wondering if a small rubber earring back stuck into the cylinder below the rubber disc instead of the rubber disc might be a permanent fix. If anyone can supply accurate measurements of the cylinder's inside, outside and depth measurements, maybe we can find a small rubber earring back that fits. Is there a large gap between the thumpad and the rubber disc when it is not depressed? If not, this just may stay in place if it goes into that cylinder below where the rubber disc would be, only without glue. The repair would be simple, remove the disc and replace with an earring back. I was looking at these:

Lunar Supplies

Your jewelry is awesome.

I have had my eye on these lobster clasps because I like making jewelry out of wire, beads, and string, and lobster clasps are really just the way to go.

u/MoreOxygenPlease · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

Good point, but some type of keychain quick release would be an easy fix.

  1. Carabiner

  2. Lobster Claw Hook

  3. Quick Release
u/DrEmilSchaufhausen · 1 pointr/craft

It's called a "lobster clasp". To find a large heavy duty one for your needs you may to look for something like a pet leash. This may work
