I too noticed this happening whenever I spend a lot of time studying. During step 1 I bought a laptop riser. The best part is that you can put your laptop or tablet or textbook on it. Then stack textbooks under it until you can read while looking straight ahead. No neck flexion at all!

I bought a great laptop stand for DJ use with an integrated fan:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G7546RW/

I love it.

u/caffpowered · 3 pointsr/battlestations

Reddit liked my last battlestation, so I decided to post my new, more portable solution.

My new battlestation was made under slightly more constraints. Everything I own fits into a single suitcase, as I moved to a New York City for work. When I got here, I found that my two laptops made a very unergonomic and uncomfortable workstation. TO remedy that problem, I sourced a few parts of Amazon.

I bought a stand for my tablet, two laptop stands meant for DJs, a wireless mouse and keyboard and a kneeling chair. Everything breaks down and fits into my suitcases except for the chair, which I would probably leave behind if I am forced to move again.

The tablet is used as a TV. I use it to watch documentaries, shows streamed from youtube, hulu, netflix or thepiratebay. The internal speakers on the tablet are a bit quiet, so I have them streaming to a Logitech UE Boom Mini. I've owned the two laptops since starting university - a Lenovo x200, and a x201 I bought a few years later to replace the x200 when it stopped detecting a battery. They're both pretty old now, but the x201 still manages to play league of legends (barely). The x200 (right) is hooked up to a set of Steelseries Siberia v3 headphones that I use for skype, or music / shows when my roommates are watching something else on the big TV, or are having loud sex. A small and surprisingly weak fan is constantly plugged in and does do a bit to keep me cool. I'll have to revisit the cooling solution when summer hits again.

I've considered upgrading the laptops, but then I figured I shouldn't be spending a lot of time inside gaming anyways. Instead, I bought a new snowboard for the upcoming season.

Been playing through an Aguilar Tonehammer DI for the past few weeks at home and I'm loving it. I've got an at home setup now of the Aguilar->small mixing board->monitoring headphones and have them all on one of these with a laptop also run into the board to play along with or use with Ableton or whatever. Such a satisfying compact setup for home practice.

u/Trainguyrom · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Are you already using a VESA mount for your monitors? I've got two of this one, and its more solid than my desk.

Also, have you tried Goodwill or Habitat for Humanity or other places people dump old furniture?

u/rofloma · 2 pointsr/retina

I used to have a cooling pad (Zalman NC-2000) - it worked well with many Windows notebooks, because they usually have a air intake at the bottom, because, most cooling pads "push" the air towards the notebook.

Doesn't help anything with a Macbook though. Macbooks take their air from all open ports (keyboard for example). The heat is let out through the aluminum body and the side fans of course.
So, "pushing" the air towards the notebook with cooling pads doesnt help. One could argue that cooling the body would help, but trust me, it doesnt.

When idle (with Chrome (4-5 Tabs), iTunes, Mail and Skype opened), the macbook had about 55°C.
With the cooling pad in idle mode, it had about 55°C as well.
When gaming, it was 90-100°C with both as well.

What help though, was a stand that raises the notebook.
These ones do help though:

Belkin Loft Stand
or this

TwelveSouth HiRise

because there will be much room UNDER the notebook for the air to ventilate.
I am now at 45°C idle / 80°C gaming.

Hope this helps :)

This is the type that I have, it works great for my two 22" monitors, so it should have no problem with yours.

u/brandburn · 2 pointsr/Alienware

I bought one and returned it as the stand is extremely weak. It can hold your laptop well but not so much when you place pressure on the laptop for typing.
This is the one I bought. Very sturdy as it is made of metal and portable.
https://www.amazon.com/ALIWIKI-Ventilated-Adjustable-Aluminum-Portable/dp/B07PGMVH7F/ref=mp_s_a_1_14?keywords=portable+laptop+stand&qid=1570327925&sprefix=portable+la&sr=8-14

u/ArcAngel071 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Dock is being used loosely here sorry.

I'm.using this https://www.amazon.com/Updated-Version-Vertical-OMOTON-Adjustable/dp/B078W3QSZY/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=omoton%2Blaptop%2Bstand&qid=1572647352&sprefix=omoton%2Blaptop&sr=8-4&th=1&psc=1

Then I just neatly cable managed power and display with a little USB hub that I put on the wall just because it looks neat haha.

It's really more of a stand. But it feels really robust and quality. I enjoy it a lot.

u/thisisme4now u/twixette u/stewgirl07 are some of the rehab club.

My aunt sent me something like this for my rehab https://smile.amazon.com/Ultra-Large-Adjustable-Foldable-Aluminum-Lightweight/dp/B07G7546RW/ You can adjust it so the laptop screen is in front of your face and the keyboard is angled down a ways so you don’t have to lift your arms at the shoulders to type. Can you get a piece of plywood cut to put under your couch cushions? You’d have to measure the size of the couch frame under the cushions, and I think Lowe’s or Home Depot will do a couple simple cuts. Or maybe there’s a building supply reuse store near you that has a piece cheaper. And then put a vertical bed pillow behind your back so there’s less room behind you and you sit more upright?

Also, set a timer on your computer or phone for the 30 minute reminder. =)

That makes all your work moving house all the more amazing!

I'm looking to 3d print a new one with cable hook ups indeed into the dock in the future.

u/c4ge1nvisibl3 · 1 pointr/wacom

Yeah, it's no compatible, as fas as I know the MSP has a crack where the stand inserts itself but CP doesn't have it, it does have a little canal but I don't see how it would enter being it too shallow. I think Wacom recommends a Kensigton's one, this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NCJHM2D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_BaP3ybW3WMP1H?th=1 and another, they have page a of dealers around the globe with stands: http://www.wacom.com/en-tr/support/faqs/cintiq%20pro%2013%20-%2016/are%20there%203rd%20party%20stands%20wacom%20would%20recommend.

No worries at all. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HBQSCM3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I got the beefier model and I'm glad I did because I also have a 17inch touch HP Envy.

The surface rig would be sweet with this! Especially since it has that awesome aspect ratio.

It's a sturdy stand. Takes a lot to put it into position. It may break in a bit but I hope it stays super rigid.

u/Grandpa_Shorts · 1 pointr/laptops

As far as the laptop cooler situation goes. Do you think something like this would be my best bet?

Thanks, bud. I'm using this Rolodex Monitor Stand for the Thunderbolt display, and this Belkin Loft for the Air. Grabbed that one because I wasn't being picky when Amazon grouped it with the wireless keyboard and trackpad.

u/Big_TomDJ · 1 pointr/Beatmatch

I personally use the Crane Stand Plus and I love it. It's quick and easy to set up, and actually really sturdy. You can tighten the joints on it so it's not going to move at all. Granted, I DJ mostly weddings, so portability is huge.

I've had this for a little while and there are many similar products. I can't play all of my games on the TV, but it allows me to play video games and hang out with my girlfriend at the same time instead of playing by myself in the other room all the time.

u/tanr-r · 1 pointr/wacom

I have a 13HD on a home-made VESA adapter connected to an Ergotron Arm and really like the setup.

If you are talking a tabletop stand, and are okay with just landscape orientation you can use:

Is this the original?

This version) looks like a traditional music stand.

u/rinamy · 1 pointr/ipad

You could try a laptop cooling pad/stand instead of a tablet holder. Those are meant to hold heavier devices that people type on so I'm assuming they will hold up fine. There are several models on Amazon that have adjustable heights.

Just as an example (caveat: I have not used this) https://smile.amazon.com/Halter-Adjustable-Microbead-Bolster-Cushions/dp/B01G7J5QN8/

I use a lightweight portable stand currently: https://smile.amazon.com/Steklo-Aluminium-Adjustable-Portable-Universal/dp/B00VIZ60QY/

The arms can be adjusted in angle / locked in / lengthened to facilitate working in portrait mode as well. However, it's at a fixed height (1.5"?) so not height adjustable.

Nonetheless, I'm looking for a case/folio with a built-in adjustable flip stand a la Surface Pro (no such luck yet, at least not with the same level of sturdiness) so that I don't have to carry a separate stand with me.

u/SQL_Mantra · 1 pointr/battlestations

Get a laptop vertical stand. That way, you can close the laptop while using the monitor and save space . You can move it to the side (with lid closed) or the back of the monitor.

Something like this:

Just got one of these. Seems to do the job pretty well and can definitely recommend it for some more vertical space--the middle rack is almost exactly the same size as the JU-06.

I would like to know as well, looks like the typical amazon one though

u/laicarys · 1 pointr/wacom

I use this one. It’s got more than one angle, it won’t slip on your desk, and it’s pretty sturdy. I’ve had no issues with it so far. Doesn’t raise the tablet though. Maybe pair it with a monitor stand riser?

Another option is to mount it to an arm. You can attach a laptop tray to an arm and put the Cintiq on that.

u/MandomSama · 1 pointr/indonesia

Nggak mesti cooling pad, pokoknya ada clearance gap antara fan sama alasnya. Sesuatu yang kayak gini. Nggak mesti se-extreme itu juga sih, 1-3cm clearance juga udah lebih dari cukup.

Kalo emang laptopnya kepanasan banget, coba bersihin fannya, ganti thermal pastenya.

Masih kepanasan, coba undervolt CPU nya, 0.05V juga udah cukup.

Masih kepanasan juga? Lembiru (lempar ganti baru).

E: salah link. Mestinya yg ini, yg alas laptopnya ventilated, atau kalo nemu yg complete void gpp.
