Installing a WiFi thermostat has been helpful. I can monitor and change the temperature settings away from home, if I need to.
Steel storage racks in my laundry room with write-on magnetic labels. I use storage cubes and a dry-erase marker on the labels in case I ever want to change anything.
Phillips Hue lighting. I thought they looked cool before buying but was hesitant to buy because it's a little pricey and I figured it would just look cool and not really be useful. But being able to dim the lights, change to any color in separate rooms, and time the lights for being away or for bedtime has been very useful to me. There are a lot of options with these.
Edit: noticed and wanted to share a few more things as I walked around my house:
Humidifier, 1+ gallon capacity. Bought one from Target and set it in the dining area. Helps a lot with static shock with the dry air in the winter time.
Glass shelving (I shop a lot through Amazon.) on the side of the bathroom sink. Small bathroom with not a lot of space, so had to get creative.
And one sort of strange improvement: adopted a dog. I have a somewhat small house and a large yard in comparison to the neighborhood and house sq footage. I started to get resentful of my yard because it's a decent amount of upkeep and I didn't even really utilize it. Adopting the dog really made me appreciate the yard more; it's great that he has a lot of space to run around.
I don't know if there's a one-step answer, but I have a three-step one.

I've noticed Costco also has these, if you have a membership you should check there.
I can totally relate to the reluctance to put holes in your wall. (Maybe that's not the issue, but if it is...)
That's a really cool idea! I'm guessing you used something like this (?):
I used to make vent shaped frames out of rolls of magnet tape, and use layers of dryer sheets between two framed magnet squares. I still make one when I travel to throw over hotel vents. Looked about the size of a License pate, just slap them on a vent it sticks to the metal and seals well. http://www.amazon.com/Quartet-Magnetic-Tape-Brown-MT17/dp/B001E69Z14
Well, I'm from Minnesota, and I got it from Ace Hardware. It's small and more local but not a mom and pop. Maybe order some? :)
FYI here's 10 sheets for $12.70 or 25 sheets for slightly less ... just in case you're looking
another option is magnetic sheets, something like this https://www.amazon.ca/Magnetic-Sheet-Crafts-Signs-Display/dp/B0055D7NO8
here is one type at Amazon, there are others.
The stuff I have seems to alternate poles every few millimetres along the length so shouldn't repel unless you need to be super picky about position.
