Enjoy the ride! A couple things I would recommend off the bat as somebody who just started myself a couple weeks ago. A lot of stuff is in the Read First FAQ on the sidebar as well.. but just wanted to share my personal experience!

  • Review: Check everything off against the components list to make sure you have everything. In the event you're missing anything, here's the form to request replacements.
    https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe0bIuInmPgql5fHVWixu7Sh2ZuC5daioNZARFiWbdzwBH44A/viewform

  • Resources: You're going to run into a lot of questions on your first couple playthroughs. The BGG community is excellent at responding to questions (even if they've been asked before). Google will yield good results for most questions but for many of them that have been asked so many times, there's actually a massive Official FAQ I would recommend reading as well. https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1897763/official-faq-game-revs-1-and-2 ... the most confusing part of the game more often than not is around monster movement.. so after you've watched some videos, read some rules, and feel like you really get it.. take this quiz and realize how little you actually understand about how monsters should move. https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/234575/gloomhaven-rules-quiz ... this will really help hammer home some of the more subtle nuances around movement. Somebody also made this nice flowchart to help as well: https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1F5YcJz4sY8tVP86cH6MS2x4np98RcPXGEM-E6CoNU1g/edit .. also, if you want to avoid all spoilers even for yourself when setting up scenarios, here is a spoiler-free .pdf that prevents you from peeking ahead when prepping rooms, etc. in a scenario: https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/146896/interactive-scenario-pdfs-hidden-sections-pcmacios .. there's also an app on the appstore that provides the same kinda thing that I would recommend. knowing the shit in the upcoming rooms sorta ruins the scenarios for yourself and/or makes them much easier.

  • Dice: Way better for tracking damage on monsters than the little cardboard circles. I would recommend these - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011WMA40

  • Preparation: [Editing my post to include this as this is perhaps the most important of all when inviting friends over to play the first time] --- it took me an entire night (solo) to unbox this game and get it even somewhat prepared to play. Beyond that, I spent hours reading rules, FAQs, watching playthroughs, etc. to really have a firm grasp of it to explain to others... and I still found a lot of confusing nuances in a variety of instances that I needed to later clarify. If you're playing this with battle-hardened gamers who are ready for anything then no worries. But if you're like me who is usually making the best of any group of friends that is willing to sit down at a board game table with me.. please use caution and make sure you are well-prepped for this game or else your exciting, highly-anticipated Gloomhaven night will end up being a couple hours of unboxing followed by a lot of discourse over how/where monsters should move and attack.

  • Organization: .. is everything with this game. It's a massive effort to set up and put away, so anything you can do to streamline the process will be a great benefit to you. There's tons of threads out there on different solutions for this.. so find whatever works for you. I use a large Plano box for all the monsters and a small Plano box for all the combat-related pieces (debuff markers, loot tokens, traps, chests, etc.) .. I got them cheap at AC Moore but something like this would work too (https://www.amazon.com/Plano-2-3600-Prolatch-Stowaway-Utility/dp/B00CKIG4NC). Other suggestions include windowed CD envelopes https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GXOOL4S to combine the monster card with their deck and standees all in one place or a large tackle box as well.
    https://i.redd.it/13v00whyhvzz.jpg

  • Protection: This game is expensive as hell and you shuffle cards constantly. Protect that shit! https://www.amazon.com/Dephia-Gloomhaven-Sleeves-Standard-European/dp/B0719TN8MB .. these sleeves are perfect but the higher-end option if you're really feeling adventurous would be to get them all laminated at a Staples or other print store.

  • Learning: The rolling solo youtube channel in my opinion is the best for learning how to play. Really clear video of what is happening and he explains everything really well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEiNg5D0aZk

  • Uberstax: These things are worth their weight in gold as far as I am concerned for this game. You'll see them in the Rolling Solo video.. I got them and my group is obsessed with them.
    https://www.gamestax.com/store/UberStax-c22875148

  • Pimping your Game: Some people have developed some nice apps for tracking things. These include https://www.gloomhavenguild.com/, https://ninjalooter.de/gloomhaven/characters, http://www.gloomhavendungeonmaster.com/ ...also, if you're interested in painting your miniatures there's infinity posts and videos on that so i wont bother here.. but if you're really aggressive and want to replace the monster standees entirely.. check out this thread: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1726312/replacing-gloomhaven-standees-and-tokens-inexpensi

It's just a design play. Electronic opisometers already exist: https://www.amazon.com/Calculated-Industries-6025-Digital-Measure/dp/B002O16VKQ/
...better grip, better reach, and smaller wheel too- so it's gonna be more acurate than a silver-dollar-sized wheel you need to hold awkwardly.

Keep the portafilter in the machine to warm up. Also, go get a cheap American weight scale from amazon so you can weigh your dose/shot to maintain consistency. This is a good one and is only $8.

$50, decent reviews, and it already exists.

STATUS UPDATE - JUNE 25, 2016 3:33 PM US EAST COAST

Alright guys, I just finished sorting all the books. Essentially 90% of the books are accounted for. There's essentially 1 redditor who slipped through the cracks on me and I'm going to be making one last trip to several LCS's on Monday to get their books sorted out (you'll know who you are because I've PMed you)

Here's a before picture of all the books.

And here is the after shot now I've sorted the books

Also, I was going to run out of bags/boards, so I picked up a 100 pack of bags/boards. So everyone will be getting brand new bags/boards with their books. Would be kinda shitty to get your new comics and something happened to them in transit.

I was going through my closet of boxes/packages I have to ship books out, and I've only got enough supplies for about 10 packages. Rather than go to the post office, pick up a bunch of boxes, come home, and start cutting them to the correct size, I've purchased these comic books mailers from Amazon

I ask that everyone have a bit of patience with me, I just placed the order for those today and once I get them, I can start sending out the books. I know I mentioned that I would try to ship the books out early next week to you guys, but it will take me a lot longer to gather the correct supplies from the Post Office and start cutting boxes up for the right dimensions of the comics. The mailers will save myself a bunch of time in packaging the books and I've also used these mailers in the past, they're good mailers.

The seller unfortunately doesn't do Amazon prime, so I have to wait a few days to get them.

Here's the confirmation of the order for the mailers from Amazon

Again, I'm not going to be asking anyone for any PayPal information until I'm ready to ship these out. If you have any questions, let me know and thanks for being patient.

I sell through amazon and this is my Storefront

I keep it nice and simple:

  • Stamps subscription per month: 15.99 (I should probably cancel and go to the post office. I am not sure about the cost benefit of it.

  • Amazon subscription: 39.99

  • supplies (1000 cases): ~400 bucks

  • actual shipping: .92 each

  • selling price: 5 a pop

    5*1000=5k

    5k-400= 4600

    3 months of amazon prime and stamps= 40x3 and 15x3= 165

    4600-165= 4435

actual price of shipping for 1k cases is 920

    4435-920= 3515.

referal fee varies i say .50x1000=500

    3515-500=3015

grand total of 3515, assuming you sell everything in 3 months and assuming you are starting new without clientelle

    EDIT

If anyone is curious as to why my prices are .01 each is because of sales and shipping. Since business is REALLY slow right now (maybe iphone 4 cases are too saturated in the status quo), i only sell ~30 cases a month. So upgrading my sellers account is not worth it. When I sold ~100+ it was definitely worth the upgrade. I can no longer be a featured seller and I can no longer manipulate my shipping cost w/o upgrade, this means at .01 + 4.99 shipping I can still sell them at 5 a pop and save 40 dollars a month.

Bought on amazon, nice and small, convenient for sitting on the cup tray on my machine. Not too much lag either, very accurate, and cheap! Link below:

It sounds like you are taking too much. Get a scale [($7.26 on Amazon](https://smile.amazon.com/Weigh-MS-600-Digital-Pocket-Scale/dp/B004O792H2/ref=sr_1_6_a_it?. ie=UTF8&qid=1498668544&sr=8-6&keywords=pocket+scale)) and start smaller. I would start around 2g (which is less than 1tsp). If you still get nausea, wait till tomorrow and start with 1.5g. If you are not satisfied add another 0.5g an hour after the first. If you are still not satisfied wait till the next day and start with 2.5g adding another 0.5g after an hour if necessary. Keep going like that till you find what works.

Keep a log of strains, dosages, effects - it's a plant so it's inexact. Finding what works can take some time, patience, and trial and error. Get some different strains and start trying them out. u/ko951 put together this list of vendors who offer samplers. Try some things out and keep notes.

Kratom affects people differently so it is hard to predict exactly what to expect, especially when starting out. Many times people starting out think that it is not 'working' at first. Some of that is about managing expectations

The Kratom 101 has a lot of good general information

I strongly recommend buying a shipping scale. For the same price as a fancy bathroom scale they are accurate down to a twentieth of a pound and never gives a bad reading. Been using this for years and I love it.

WeighMax W-4830 Industrial Postal Scale 330lb https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AKV422/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_UP75Ab93C5G5K

Also, always only weigh yourself in the morning, after you use the toilet and before you eat or drink anything, and only naked or in your underwear. That way you are sure to always be comparing apples to apples. Your weight can fluctuate so much throughout the day depending on what you eat and what you're wearing.

u/danielleiellle · 5 pointsr/Flipping

Do yourself a favor and buy these:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003CTIJNQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_hTJEAb6KBHS7E

Work the cost into your profit calculations. Save yourself the angry customers who get pissed because you tried to save pennies shipping in a bubble mailer and the post office bent the package.

u/crazindndude · 4 pointsr/Wetshaving

For small packages (<13oz) I use these padded mailers or similar. You can also get these boxes, which are similar to the ones most artisans use to ship single soap orders.

If I'm shipping 2+ soaps or something expensive, I use the USPS Flat Rate stuff. Follow /u/fuckchalzone's link for more info, but you can get a whole variety of boxes and padded envelopes for free from USPS. Since the supplies are free, I usually will put the item(s) in a small flat-rate box and then put that box inside a flat-rate padded envelope (same price), for extra security.

Use www.paypal.com/shipnow for an easy UI and you also get the same discount as USPS's website.

You should try waking your bird up 1/2 hour earlier than normal and moving him to a perch. If you predictably get that massive bird morning poop everything's likely OK.

Also, if you are in the habit of frequently weighing your bird, are you seeing any fluctuation? If not, I highly recommend picking up a bird scale with a "T" perch and adding it to your routine.

Ollie's weighs 450 g and is predictable +/- 5 grams depending on poop/water time of day. If I saw it go +/- 15 he'd probably be getting an unscheduled checkup.

u/bennettpena · 3 pointsr/specializedtools

I also have one...every time a similar “new measuring device” shows up on reddit I’m over here with my 30+ year old one like ??? They even already make digital ones with hundreds of reviews on amazon...

u/DiscStore · 3 pointsr/ultimate

Where are you located and how many do you need? We designed our own box that fits an Ultimate disc perfectly and have them manufactured at a local box company. You can have some if you happen to be close enough to pick them up.

For shipping USPS will be cheapest. I hadn't heard of shipping a disc without packaging, but sounds awesome, ha! If you're not worried about bending I'd recommend at least put a poly bag around them to avoid scuffing. USPS can be pretty rough with packages, so we always ship a disc in a box. Some postal workers like to try to jam discs in mailboxes, so if you go the poly bag route, at least write "Do Not Bend" on the package.

u/NoPleaseDont · 3 pointsr/Flipping

I bought this one and it has worked perfectly so far.

u/Silent_Interlude · 3 pointsr/comicbooks

Is it slabbed? If so, I'd wrap it in bubble wrap, then put it in a USPS 1092 box, then bubble wrap that box inside a USPS 1095 box.

If it isn't slabbed, I would sandwich it in between two (or four) sturdy, crease-free pieces of cardboard (or, even better, put it in a gemini mailer), then bubble wrap it inside a 1092 box, then bubble wrap that inside a 1095 box.

I would get signature confirmation (not just delivery confirmation) and give the buyer the option of paying for insurance (which would be about $30, I'm guessing).

u/TimmyRoller99 · 2 pointsr/vinyl

My local store sells them for $1 each, so if you are just looking for one then that might be your best bet to try some local record stores.

But I also buy these from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N41JJZE/

Not sure why they are so expensive right now, but usually they are closer to $30 I think.

u/LyleGately · 2 pointsr/fitnesscirclejerk

I was pretty excited to do a poop weight test with the ultra awesome shipping scale that I got based on shortkid's recommendation. I had the weakest shit ever and only lost .1 of a pound on the poop. Anyway I weigh 180 now.

Tested 305 squat and 370 deadlift. Bench I may or may not be finally getting back into starting this week. It'll probably just be a slow climbing deload type thing until I hurt myself again. Stupid bench.

u/nametemplate · 2 pointsr/Flipping

I've used this one

and this one

Personally I like the first one better. The bigger base is very nice. edit: you need to consider the size of the packages you're weighing. I need a scale that will measure heavy packages, the first one is better for that sort of thing. For general purpose ebay selling I'd get a scale that measures up to say 50lb, that should be good enough. Or maybe 2 scales, one for small stuff and one like the 2 I listed for heavy packages.

u/sphks · 2 pointsr/pics

are 7 cubic feet enough?

u/damacus1 · 2 pointsr/Silverbugs

Wow, that's a badass deal for someone doing a lot of selling. Bookmarked in case I need it in the future. Shipping of those does add up.

Quoted a #000 and a #2 shipment, with shipping came to 5.8 cents per #000 and 14.1 cents per #2.

For reference, I bought this and this shipped free using Amazon prime.

Works out to 7.5 cents per #000 and 32 cents per #2. Still have plenty of both left. Putting this up there as a less up-front cost alternative for someone doing less shipping.

Thanks again for the link though. Good info.

u/bstones · 2 pointsr/Flipping

If you deal with video games, get bubble mailers and tape in bulk. I usually go through Amazon and buy bubble mailers. I also expanded to blu rays which are easy to ship as well.

Always save boxes to ship USPS priority if you need to ship something bigger then video game cases. Most things shipped 1-2 lbs should be no more than $10. AVOID FLAT RATE AND USPS/FEDEX in most instances. Unless you have something very heavy, and/or need better insurance/sig confirmation. Pretty much high value items use Fedex cause its discounted thru ebay. UPS can be used thru Amazon. Whenever I have a high value item like console or collectors edition, i usually use Fedex/UPS because it comes out to about the same as USPS with sig confirm/insurance

Always buy the shipping thru ebay/Amazon. If you do enough shipping you might want to check into Fulfillment by Amazon. Buying thru Amazon and especially ebay its cheaper. The tracking is automatically added. You can package them up on your own time and drop them off. Its the best way. Its a great feeling to be able to drop off freshly packed game and movies in a mailbox and be done. Or have USPS pick them up

This is very basic and probably has been said before but can be very valuable to starters. I honestly had to figure this stuff on my own. I cringe at the thought of buying a 1.19 bubble mailer from the post office. It adds up when your shipping materials cost .25 per item and you get a discount thru ebay and you can just drop off compared to standing in line waiting to ship the same thing for $4 plus 1.20 for the bubbler

This is the tape i use

If you sell them I wouldn’t worry about boxes. They’re plush so I recommend these envelopes:

100 12x15.5 WHITE POLY MAILERS... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000HG8720?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

u/n88n · 2 pointsr/discgolf

I have an MVP black hole pro and it makes a loud ding. The light chains getting slammed into the pole makes what i thought was a very loud noise. That being said i am overly sensitive to bothering other humans.

I wrapped the pole in foam packing material i had around the house. The stuff you use to protect dishes when you move. Then I wrapped the foam in black duct tape. I am super happy with how it turned out.

If you go this route do not wrap it too thick or else you will have a hard time taking the top/chains section on and off.

This is not the exact product but close to what I used.

Then put that inside a priority envelope that's free at the post office

u/alaskaj1 · 2 pointsr/dvdcollection

I second keeping the cases if you have the room to store them somewhere.

When I didnt have room for mine I put the cases in some large plastic totes and I put the disks in cd binders. Each slot was numbered so I could look at an excel spreadsheet with all my movies listed and go to the right spot. Numbering each spot in the binders took a while.

What my library does is they have the disks in paper sleeves like this. They actually labeled every sleeve and then store them alphabetically in little plastic totes that are just wide enough for the disk.

If you want to keep the artwork and not the cases my best guess would be to get a tote that is water resistant/has a seal and put them in there. Get some silica desiccant packets and store them in with them, you dont want moisture to build up and have everything stick together. Usually the packets can be reused just by putting them in the oven every few months to dry them out. Someone may have better options for this though.

u/Jpage920 · 2 pointsr/gratefuldead

So... I've been to a few shows and I'm pretty deep into the poster game so far. If you are a person who hates holding those cardboard tubes all night, let me suggest https://www.amazon.com/Alvin-MT25-CL-Storage-Transport-inches/dp/B007RFP3PI . These are a great investment and can hold about 3 posters total in them (if you're buying for someone else). Also, you can slap some stickers on them so they look super cool!

Venmo is just a money-giving app, like Paypal but in app form.

The mailer boxes are for mailing the records to everyone individually. The order came to me with the 10 records in a box. So I bought the boxes at the link below to package them up individually for everybody.

I wrapped the led strip in some packing foam sheets

It honestly wasnt the best though. At least with 60LED/m density, you can kinda see zebra lines. Maybe with 144 LED/m density LEDs, which i still have to try. Something else I still have to try is this film wrap.

I like to do some trading on /r/gameswap but right now I'm pretty tight on money and when I have to go to another store just to buy padded envelopes, (they never seem to have them at my local post office for some reason.) Anyway I ride my bike around a lot to do this all and when I have to pay for shipping and envalopes at a store that sells the for $1 each it gets kinda expensive when it stacks up with shipping, so all I'm asking is for some of these! :) (Also if I get picked, please don't spend the whole card on me, I just need these things and the rest of the card can go to someone else!)

u/BigSinLV · 2 pointsr/Flipping

eBay fees are 10% of everything you sell. We have two scales -- one for larger things, another for smaller things. Our large scale is similar to this and our smaller one is like this

Salecalc implements the fees into their tool. I believe it's 10% to eBay, and $0.30+3% for paypal.. I don't remember the exact numbers for PP.

u/shoot2scre · 1 pointr/gameswap
u/rocketmonkeys · 1 pointr/disability

I've been thinking about this, and I'm not sure if my idea would work.

They have shipping scales that have detached readouts (which you need, since usually you're over/covering the readout. Like this:

http://www.amazon.com/330-Digital-Shipping-Scale-WeighMax/dp/B000R4HRGO/

The next step is you need the platform to be as big as possible. Normally these units have 4 pressure pads to read weight, so the platform just rests on these 4 things. My idea is to take a big piece of plywood (2.5x2.5'?), and attach the 4 pressure pads to the corners of the plywood. You'll have to account for the weight of the plywood, but most of these scales have "tare" functions anyway.

Then you have a platform you can roll onto that will show your weight. The only thing I don't know is if increasing the distance covered by the pressure pads would affect measurement. I'm assuming these are piezo triggers that simply vary resistance/voltage due to pressure, so the actual distance/wires involved wouldn't matter too much. Some extra wire and a solder gun would do the trick.

If I ever get down my project list, I'll try this out.

(I also once tried to do measurements with a hanging scale & pulleys. Too inaccurate, and a fairly clumsy idea)

u/bugmochi · 1 pointr/Flipping

Use [salecalc] (https://salecalc.com/) calculate profits and fees.

Calculate shipping by weighing item + plus packing materials. You will need either a shipping scale or kitchen scale to determine weight. Choose "calculated shipping" when listing using the item's weight with packaging and it's dimensions. If you are going to sell clothing I recommend buying some [poly mailers] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HG8720/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) since they are lightweight, cheap, and great for mailing clothing items. I also recommend ordering some FREE padded flat rate envelopes and some A2 boxes from USPS.com for shipping items Priority Mail that are greater than 1 pound.

What's funny is that you can buy packing peanuts through Amazon Prime. Which means someone probably shipped Amazon packing peanuts surrounded in packing peanuts. https://www.amazon.com/EcoBox-Degradeable-Packing-Peanuts-E-3105/dp/B017ICW2JE

Niche.

If you don't want to worry about packing/weighing/boxes, then you're probably stuck to clothes/dvds/books. Honestly, though, dealing with all that stuff isn't that big of a deal and you'll get the hang of it quickly if you suck it up.

I get all my boxes and packing materials from dumpsters, so I don't pay for that (lately I get most of my inventory from dumpsters, too). If I don't have a box the correct size I'll make them myself out of recycled cardboard. I bought a cheap shipping scale and scored a label printer (you'd have to look around; I managed to get a Zebra LP2844 for $60).

Package your items before you list or as you're listing so you know how much to charge for shipping or how much to list for to cover shipping if you're offering it free.

They make rolls of thin foam for packing dishes that is really cheap (Amazon Link). I would use that to individually wrap the figures (secure the foam with some tape), then pack them with a layer of paper/bubble wrap on top and on bottom of the figs to make sure they don't shake around in transit.

that seems like a good idea. Something like this?

i do not use buble wrap mailers. i put them in bags and boards, all the online stores i buy from seem to love them for some reason. first thing i do is remove them so i've usually got a huge pile of them. and then i put them in a specially made mailer for comics.

something like this
https://www.bagsunlimited.com/p-5313-comic-mailer-holds-up-to-14-comics.aspx
or this
http://www.amazon.com/Comic-Flash-Mailers-Sizes-Digests/dp/B007JAV8YQ

which i get with my online orders and carefully open allowing me to reuse them once i remove the shipping label with my name on it.

I use this tape. It's also acid free and covers a lot of ground. The same tape I use for packing too.

one more thing and i will stop harassing you. You should weigh your bird every day using something like this: https://www.amazon.com/ZIEIS-A63SS-NMP-Accuracy-Capacity-Stainless/dp/B0040HR28C/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_sims?ie=UTF8

Why? Well in the jungle predators will always attack first whichever animal in flock that looks sick or injured. For this reason parrots instinctively HIDE any illness until they are almost dead. The only way to get early warning of illness is to weight them. Weigh her every day at the same time. IF she drops 10% get her to a Vet THAT DAY if less watch closely and maybe go in for checkup. Also you should find an AVIAN vet ahead of time. Regular vets only get like 1 week on birds in school(many claim bird knowledge to get more $). See here: https://www.beautyofbirds.com/recommendedbirdvetsvirginia.html

Also, they love cheek rubs and tapping on top of head with 2 fingers :-) have fun
