Turtle Beach P11. Relatively cheap, great sound and build quality. I highly recommend this headset.

Edit: Forgot to mention that it's wired, so no need to recharge as it runs off USB power.

Get the Turtle Beach Stealth 520. It's $107 on amazon right now. Link

It's completely wireless, it has excellent surround sound, and the mic is crystal clear. It also has several different audio presets, like vocal boost, bass boost, natural sound, etc. And it also has a feature called "superhuman hearing" which amplifies foot steps, reloads, etc so you can more easily locate the enemy. I've used the feature on both Battlefield 1 and mw remastered, and between the two it really feels like they custom tailored it for call of duty.

AmazonBasics Chat Headset for... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078N4DS8F?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I own this mic. You can swivel the mic around to wear on either left or right ear.

Are you sure? Pretty sure no Bluetooth headphones can pair with the PS4. Even the PS4 Wiki says...

>Bluetooth headsets are not currently supported. The PS4 currently only supports four Bluetooth devices being paired at one time. It appears that Sony has opted to keep those dedicated to controllers.

Even the Sony PlayStation Gold Wireless Headset includes a USB dongle to send audio to the headphones. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I've literally never seen a pair of headphones sync with the PS4.

Turtle Beach stealth 700 for ps4. You hook up the small usb dongle to Switch, and use bluetooth to your phone/tablet/laptop. That way you can listen to game audio while listening to music or chat in skype/discord.

If you want cheaper, you can go for turtle beach stealth 400. The downside is you need to use aux cable to connect to your phone/tablet/laptop. But it use wireless to connect to Switch

PowerA Charging Station - 2 controllers, not little kid friendly, as it has a spring to load/unload the controller and kids will just pull it off. If the spring is in the incorrect position, it can be difficult to put the controller on charge.

Collective Minds PSVR Stand and Charging Station - 2 controllers, 2 move controllers, and 1 USB slot for headset or PSVR AIM controller.

PlayStation Platinum Headset - Went through 2 PS Gold headsets due to weak plastic frame. Platinums feel more sturdy. Haven't used too much to test durability. Great sound, but I am not an audiophobe.

PSVR AIM Controller - Got it bundled with Firewatch. Read that it felt good in hands. I thought it felt a little awkward, but definitely easy enough to use. Just have to get used to the button layout.

AC Infinity Fans - These are 80mm fans. It comes with 2 fans in parallel that are powered over USB. I don't use my PS4's USBs, because those are taken up with other accessories, so I have it attached to my surround sound receiver. One fan pulling air from the back of the Pro, and the other directing the fan out of the shelf area. I recommend these, as I've noticed the spin up on my Pro has significantly went down.

I would return that thing even if it was in perfect condition:

The only headsets worth anyone's money are the newer Hyper X models (Cloud, Cloud Mix) and the Coolermaster MH752. These are 70 - 120.

Eh I got one of these when they were on sale

No complaints with it in the last year or so

First recommendation is the Plantronics RIG 500HC 3.5mm Stereo Gaming Headset https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0123C7GVI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_WGmjybF98E2NK (US Amazon Link). I used them for a while. Great audio and mic quality and I loved how light they were. Solid headset for the price.

Other than those, I'd say HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset - Black (KHX-H3CL/WR) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JJNQG98/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_gJmjyb114724J (also US Amazon Link). These were awesome because of their memory foam padding and jus the overall level of comfort they offered.

Keep in mind neither of these offer true surround sound and are both wired to your controller. If you have any questions about either, let me know! I no longer own either but used them both for a fre months each before I handed them down to my cousin. I currently use Astro A50s.

I love these. Only 60, before tax.

Hmm, yeah, I don't think there's going to be anything you can do to convert a wireless USB headset to mono, short of being an electronics genius, physically taking it apart, and rewiring it.

It's a shame that the PS4 doesn't have an accessiblity setting for mono, and they're the only console that doesn't. I just submitted a suggestion to https://share.blog.us.playstation.com/, but we'll have to see if they even accept it. I just noticed that the most recent suggestion they've even posted is from October 14, 2016, so yeah, I guess that site is dead.

There's some guy who disassembles these headphones and stuffs them inside of these earmuffs, resulting in a headset that plays both channels into the same ear, allowing you to tell left from right by listening to whether the sound comes from above or below. Pretty interesting concept. (As you can see in his comment, to get them working on the PS4, you'd also need a separate microphone and a Y adapter.)

If you look up "mono gaming headset" on Amazon, or even just "gaming headset", you can see plenty of them that only have one ear, but it's hard to be certain that they will definitely downmix stereo to mono. For example, in lots of comments, the Turtle Beach people sound really adamant that the Turtle Beach Recon are "chat only", which suggests to me that something is wrong with them. There are ones like this that would definitely work, but then you're gaming with an earbud, or this but the reviews are pretty terrible.

Stereo-to-mono adapters do exist that you can plug into your controller, and then plug a 3.5mm headset into. However, I can't seem to find a single one that would work correctly with a TRRS connection (the type with 3 black bands that supports a microphone). So to make a 3.5mm headset work in a PS4 controller you'd need a pretty ridiculous setup with like 3 different adapters.

If I was in your shoes, I'd probably dig around looking for a decent looking single-ear gaming headset (either USB, or 3.5mm TRRS), and then email the manufacturer asking them to confirm that it will play both stereo channels through the one ear. Either that or buy the wacky homemade set from the guy. Or pester Sony to add mono support to the PS4.

u/hexyk · 2 pointsr/gaming

I use these for my PS4 and PC. They're wireless and $100. I'm not sure about Xbox One compatibility though.

u/handyandy727 · 2 pointsr/xboxone

Here's what I currently use. So far, they have been awesome! Only wire is to the controller itself (3.5mm no adapter needed). They're super comfortable. My only complaint is that you do have to adjust the volume through the xbox settings, but once you get everything to your like, the sounds is pretty awesome.

It's been a great purchase for the price I paid for them:

If you don't mind me asking, how rough are you with your headsets? Because I still have my Gold Wireless headset (been almost a year now) and despite one of the hinges popping (my fault, I knocked them off the table, fixed with some duct-tape and zip-ties and has been fine since) they have been great to me. I haven't noticed any deterioration or build failure and I'm not exactly kind to them.

edit: To actually answer your question, I've used the following headsets on my PS4 with no issues:
http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-GameCom-780-Headset-Surround/dp/B00B1KJK22 (works in stereo only)

The Sony Playstation Wireless Gold ended up being my favorite. Here are the ones I tried and some thoughts about each. Hope this helps.

- Bose QC35II: Great sound, doesn't fit over the halo well. Expensive.

- Sony WF-1000XM3: Superb sound, doesn't fit over the halo well, but fit better than Bose for me. Ended up keeping these since I've wanted a noise cancelling set for a while and listening to music with these is magical, but that's got nothing to do with VR. Also expensive. (I still sometimes use these because holy fuck the sound is excellent and for something like SkyrimVR, the immersion is fantastic, but they do get uncomfortable after a while)

- Mantis Clip-ons: Works well enough and gives you a lot of the functionality of the original Rift headphones. They can swing out and are fairly adjustable. Sound is okay, but not as good as the original Rift (and therefore worse sound than Koss). Still much better than Rift S native sound. I have two Ss and kept a pair of these Mantis' for one of the Rifts. Not that expensive.

- Sennheiser HD 25: Great sound, good fit. Expensive-ish, but not too bad.

- Koss Porta Pro: Sounds just like the original Rift. If cost is a major consideration, then get these. Kinda janky, but for the sound you get, you'll be hard pressed to do better for the money.

So why did I go with the PS Wireless Gold? Answer: Wireless! And it's not Bluetooth, so no delay (it's RF, and has it's own dongle you plug into the PC). I prefer not to deal with a cord. Sure, you can do some fancy stuff to keep the cord out of the way, but I just love not having any cord at all and being able to easily pop them on and off, and they don't encumber the base headset and so on. With recent updates the Rift S built-in sound is passable if you're not going for total immersion, like drawing in Quill or whatever, and it's nice not having anything extra attached. Just pop em off, and turn em off. Plus, good sound, better than Mantis, and Koss. Maybe about the same as Sennheiser, maybe not. Close enough, though, and did I mention no wires? Also not too costly.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, if there is a better sub, point me in the right direction, please!

My brothers girlfriend is buying him a gaming headset, wanted my imput. I dont know much about these, thought id ask here.
She wants to buy him a "HyperX HX-HSCAM-GM Cloud MIX Wired Gaming Headset + Bluetooth"

https://www.amazon.co.uk/HyperX-HX-HSCAM-GM-Gaming-Headset-Bluetooth/dp/B07KQXH65Z

Is there a better one for that price (which seems pricey to me) or a similar quality one for less? I think shes prefer to get him a better on for the same price, if possible. They live in london, so probably buying from something like Amazon.co.uk

Who are good reviews for such things?

u/damican1982 · 1 pointr/PS4

Turtle Beach is pretty good when it comes to headsets. I had a pair for my PS3 and worked great. Right now I'm using After Glow USB headset and they're great. https://www.amazon.com/PDP-Afterglow-Wireless-Headset-PlayStation-4/dp/B016K12406

u/Spellbindehr · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I don't want to make a whole list of recommendations, but I do have to chime in with the Afterglow AG9 I originally bought this headset to use with my PS4 and it was great for that. One day I decided to stick the Bluetooth dongle in my PC, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it worked perfectly fine.

u/Avenflame · 1 pointr/xboxone

You missed out on a great headset when it was on sale at $40 (Polk Striker ZX)

Without a sale, your best bet currently is the Tritton Kama or Kunai series. It's value for money at $30-$40 on Amazon. (Assuming that you're using the newer controllers with the 3.5mm jack)

Or look for a Sades headset like this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A73ZH34/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xX3BxbC6SN4W2

Good luck.

That's a whole $5 less than Amazon.

ETA actually, if you want a white one, Amazon has that for $180.

I just got these after my Microsoft headset went out. They're pretty decent and cheap. I'm going to get a40's eventually though https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A73ZH34/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_VAqqxb67263VV

these are pretty good, never had any major problems with them, work on PC too.

If you're willing to splash another tenner, you could get the upgraded versions

Edit: i noticed you said dollars, meaning you're in America.
Sorry about that, but those headsets are from a decent brand, and are fairly good.

Are you happy with the Cloud 2 so far? There is a wireless variant available

u/BunniiButt · 1 pointr/PS4

You could also plug some headphones into the controller. I use these headphones https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D30Q868/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I mean obviously they are not the best of the best but they get the job done and are surprisingly very comfortable and can even use the mic and the switch to turn on and off the mic does work.

u/Battle_Bear_819 · 1 pointr/PS4

For anyone with a limited budget that needs headphones, I recommend the Rigs 500hx. They are advertised for xbox, but they work exactly the same with the ps4. The sound quality is very good, they don't get hot (which is something the Sony golds did), and they fit well with glasses.

u/basedmattnigga7 · 1 pointr/battlefield_one

I got a sweet one for 24$ total I think. Very comfortable. Called the Kingtop.

And I agree... the shitty ones hurt your ears and they end up breaking. So far so good with this one:

I'd go with these instead my dog ripped up two sets so Im on my 3rd in a row for pc gaming over a course of about 7 years. Best headset I've ever owned especially for the price it blows others out the water mic function and sound quality included in that statement. Also if your interested they have them in white aswell.

I would ignore Panron's anecdotal experience with artificial surround sound. I have a Logitech G933 and 7.1 surround sounds great. If you order headphones that advertise surround sound, and it doesn't work for you. Simply return that headset. I personally only use the surround on my headphones because the difference is so much, and I completely enjoy the quality. As for the the PS4, I have seen many people complain that virtual surround sound for headphones don't work on PS4, because they require software to enable the feature. Although, Sony actually does sell headphones that are 7.1 Surround sound.[PlayStation Platinum Wireless Headset] (https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Platinum-Wireless-Headset-Surround/dp/B07CLD57D5)
I would suggest going with those.

I just bought these, they have a great sound quality, and the mic can be tucked away. Also, you can turn the lights off which is nice, since I'm not a fan of everything glowing. The price can't be beat either, at 50$ I haven't found a better pair. The only issue you and others may have is that they are a USB headset. Hope this helps, and good luck!

Hello Mad_Economist!

  • There is $147.00 +/- left in the audio budget

  • Currently in house / on hand, we have available:

  • ASTRO Gaming A10 Gaming Headset - Blue

  • Sony MDRZX110 ZX Series Stereo Headphones (White)

  • I wasn't aware the Sony set had a flavor with microphone. That's neat. I've used this model of over ear for some time and have been happy with them. Model with the mic is at the $25 price point on Amazon

  • The Astro A10 Headset set is heavy, but has the audio adjust on headset cable which is handy. However, the audio from mic didn't work well with trash salvaged 32bit Ubuntu machine.

  • She says she wants over ear

  • She doesn't have in-depth knowledge of audio specifics

  • If it were plugged into anything other than the PC, she would be laying in bed using a phone or kindle with a headphone jack, head on pillow

  • For portability I touched on use cases. Well, I mean, she might use them in the pop-up camper on camping trips?

  • Used equipment or refurbished is fine with us

    Edit: a word

I have it for PC, but you should be made aware that it is STEREO for console and surround sound on PC.

Here's the description from Amazon: "Enjoy a premium 3D audio experience with DTS Headphone:X 7.1 Surround on PC, stereo audio on Mac, PS4, XBox ONE, VR, and mobile."

Because of this I can't recommend it for PS4. You could use iPhone headphones and get the same sound quality.

I suggest these Turtle Beach for console

I enjoy these way more than the golds. They have a dongle just like the golds which includes a special optical cable that connects from the dongle to the optical port on the PlayStation. The extra wire is visually unpleasant but I hardly notice it anymore.

The battery life on these is way better than the golds. I chare my headset once every week-10 days and it charges fully in about an hour.

The only downside to these (based on your post) is the game audio always comes out of the TV which is easily solved by turning the TV volume down.

u/the_blue_wizard · 0 pointsr/audio

Though I don't have a link, I'm sure there are many adapters to break out the Headphone and Microphone connectors so it can be used with a Standard Computer. In fact, I would suspect most Gaming Headphone Sets would come with this adapter.

https://www.amazon.com/Sound-Blaster-Audio-Splitter-Adapter/dp/B00GNHSL8C

https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Splitter-Computer-Headphone-Smartphone/dp/B01I7SS3EQ

Here you can see a set of headphones that comes with such an adapter.

https://www.amazon.com/Sades-Lightweight-Headset-Splitter-Adapter/dp/B01A73ZH34

I'm surprised your headphones did not come with such an adapter. Both the adapters above are marked. One connector has a Headphone Symbol and the other has a Microphone Symbol.

You want to make sure the adapter you find is a single 4 pole (TRRS) socket that breaks out into two 3 Pole (TRS) plugs. Though likely the Mic could function only needs 2-poles (TS). But 3-Pole probably makes it more versatile.

A Headphone "Y" connector you linked to is going to be one 3-pole in and two 3-pole out. That's not going to work. You specifically need 4-poles (TRRS) in and TWO 3-poles out (TRS).

My current pair: PDP Afterglow Kral

Great sound quality, simple handling, heavy and sturdy, and adjustable microphone. And it can be used on other devices too, I use these for my PC as well. Personally I like these more than the Gold headset, though it's not as comfortable. I got these for a pretty decent price on the somewhat lower end, but sadly the price seems to have gone up on the Amazon listing...
