I use a Yakima Dry Dock in the hitch, and a Rugged Ridge light bar to keep them off my top.

Shadow rider here.. do you have a windscreen? I've got a 16" Wind Vest windshield and smooths out your ride SO SO much..

Keep an extra bottle of washer fluid in the car. You can burn through an entire reservoir pretty quick when they go heavy on the road treatments.

Some quality rubber mats will help keep the carpet from getting destroyed and makes cleaning a bit easier.

Shovel and ice scraper as mentioned.

I keep one of these too for those days when the windshield keeps fogging up.

Be careful with the slush on the side of the road or between lanes on the highway. It can be similar to hitting a really big puddle. If you are driving through or near large metro areas, budget extra time to get there if its actively snowing. Traffic gets extra special during the storms.

Perhaps most importantly, if you are in Boston, don't move the garbage in the street to park. Locals get pretty pissy if you take their spots in the street.

I have a 2016 Honda CB500F with a Puig windscreen, works great. Linked product page and a few pictures of how it looks on my bike. Hope this helps.

How about something like this?

A bit pricey, but I really like the look of the Memphis Shades Gauntlet Fairing

I rode a naked FZ6 as my first bike, and yes, the buffeting is always an issue. That said, the addition of even a small windscreen does help a lot to keep the wind off of your chest. Something like this. Helmets are a least a little aerodynamic. Chests are not.

It's a fantastic bike, especially for commuting-type stuff. Dead easy to move around traffic. And as /u/SlitheryBuggah says, as bulletproof as they come.

I'm also 175cm tall, for what it's worth, and it's fine height-wise. The saddle is not especially comfy for longer trips but I have a weak butt for this sort of thing so you may well be fine.

Little bikes can be a huge amount of fun in twisties. It'll get up to 60mph or close to it, and you'll be slamming through gears and feeling like you're going super fast, without actually going super fast. You can definitely have fun with one of these.

As for motorways - actually totally doable, but you'll feel the lack of speed! The most I've done is a 180 mile round trip in a day. The thing which makes a big difference is adding a windscreen. Get one of these, slap it on the handlebars (easily removed whenever you want to) and it'll help a lot with going at motorway speeds. You won't be able to power along at 80 or anything, but you'll be able to maintain over 60mph no problem. Fastest I've ever been on mine was 71mph but usually it cruises at around 63-64mph on motorways.

Pointed out that windscreen specifically as there's a website for a bunch of CG125 information and it's super handy - but appears to be down! The same website author has done this site which has a link to the CG125 website. Fortunately, the Internet Wayback Macine exists - link for the CG125 page! Would suggest having a good browse through this website, so much handy information. Pro-tip: Look at the RPM to MPH guide, since the CG125 doesn't have a tachometer.

I'm actually going to be handing off my CG125 to my sister shortly, since I bought my V-Strom pretty much straight after my CG125, I want another second bike, and my garage only has space for two bikes in it... But that doesn't change the fact that it's an amazing bike. It'll serve you well :)

National Cycle Gladiator They fit on the speedo bracket's bolts quite nicely I think, they do scratch mine on the left a little; but no one sees it unless they're really looking. I really recommend it if you don't want a large windshield but still want something functional. Hell if I lean forward, I feel like I'm on a sportbike a bit, even gain some MPG on longer rides.

Edit: I forgot to ask, the tips you have, are they just to lower the sound? or do they do anything for back pressure?

I just recently got a National Cycle 2-up Switchblade for my Shadow. Love it. easy install with the quick release brackets.

It was this one. I got the dark smoke one at first but it was pretty much black and I didn't like that. You can find more pics of it on my instagram.

I had a hard time finding it since it's not available in Canada. I got the part number from the Honda USA site and found it on Amazon:

Thanks.. I'd love to get another bike into the mix but it's just not reasonable at the time sadly. The FJR will win me over in my 40's maybe lol.

I had a heritage before I got my road glide. Here are the mods I did and a brief explanation with each of them.

Python dual staggered exhaust. I liked both the looks and sound of these pipes. I was able to use them with no modifications needed with my bags.
Python

National Cycle chopped windshield. I liked this windshield because I could look over it and still get some protection. It is also still almost as wide as a stock windshield. You can just look over it instead of having to look through it.

Papa Bags saddlebag inserts. I installed these saddlebag inserts and they completely straightened out my bags that were sagging and looking bad. It was an easy install and I was happy with them.

Hope this helps. I changed out a lot more but these were the first things I did.

I don't know how tall or wide a screen needs to be before it becomes functional. I was considering this one.
