You got screwed! lmao. Motherboard standoff comes standard size. the thumbscrews are 6#-32*5. You can look at this box and see what you need. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071RM83NH/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_3?smid=A286O29JJYZD4N&psc=1

here's the image, you can see what size/type you need and their #: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/81rVc-MXbTL._SL1500_.jpg

Ofc you don't have to buy this exact one you could just buy in bulk what you need or shop around ebay etc..

u/sjhill · 8 pointsr/whatisthisthing

Probably.

They're stand-off screws. As yoiu said, for mounting in a PC case, and screwing the motherboard on to.

Pvz. Skytech salonas Vilniaus senamiestį man davė kabelių nemokamai.

Funny, I actually self harmed by breaking https://www.amazon.com/Ziotek-Metal-Case-Slot-Covers/dp/B000BSJHRI into two. Not that sharp, but where there's a will there's a way :) I can actually very faintly still see a scar from that like 3 years later

u/spacecake12 · 3 pointsr/buildmeapc

You can measure the hole too. I'm not sure of the screw size you're looking for but I have purchased this kit for m.2 ssds:

https://www.amazon.com/CO-RODE-Notebook-Computer-Samsung/dp/B01GE9AK7I/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=Laptop+Notebook+Screws&qid=1567887612&s=electronics&sr=1-3

I've seen mobos with screws holes of all diameters in this kit: M2, M2.5, M3 so this has come handy several times.

The number next to the M is just the diameter of the screw in millimeters. So if you measure the screw hole with a ruler it should be really close to a whole or 0.5 number.

Bike lock through water cooling wholes these on the case. Take your monitor and peripherals in you backpack is my technique.

Insomnia in the UK has a system where you have to stick stickers on your stuff that corresponds to the code on your ticket. They won't let you out unless you have the corresponding ticket.

u/mbaturin · 2 pointsr/iBUYPOWER

My PC didn’t come with screws for the M.2 slots and I had to order M.2 screw set when I ordered my M.2 SSD. Assuming you have an AsRock board, here’s a cheap screw and driver set (not magnetic driver so PITA)

u/DGTownsman · 2 pointsr/NZXT

I'd get something like this that way you have all the different sizes found in a PC and you'll never have to worry about not having the right ones.

Just out of curiosity though, did you get rid of the extra screws that came with your case? They usually come with quite a few extras of the various sizes.

> Also as a side note, what are those rubber things on the corners of the fan?

They're used instead of screws, to reduce vibration from the fan. Like these.

If you're sure about your measurements, you can fit a 49mm thick 120mm radiator like this one.

Probably not with two fans (25mm+25mm+49mm=99mm) but with one fan you'll be ok. Performance won't suffer that much. You can get the corsair h80 one but it's way too expensive.

If you don't want to risk it, the Corsair H60 will almost certainly fit. It's the smallest one. But performance isn't that good. Had one, didn't like it.

u/CaptainoftheColon · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Generally there are 3 sizes of standard fans screws:

M5

M3

6-32

Its gotta be one of these. You'd be better off bringing one of the fans to a computer store to size up actual fan screws, they will usually sell every size or an assortment of sizes like this.

Apple ended up actually replacing my entire computer (2006 white MacBook) with a brand new one (2009 MacBook Pro) through AppleCare because they considered my white MacBook to be a "lemon" (after several warranty-covered repairs had to be made). But just last week I actually removed the fan on my 2009 MBP so I could clean it out and it was pretty simple. Just a few screws and one simple connecter. If you can make toast, you can probably replace this fan.

As for the stripped screw, there are some DIY options or something more substantial like a GraBit (basically, it's like a screw driver tip with a screw built onto the end but with left handed ['reverse'] threads. So as you try to back out your stripped screw, the tip of the GraBit will actually try to imbed itself into the back of your stripped screw). Obviously this might not work as advertised given the absolutely tiny nature of the screws used on that rear housing. Try removing all of the other screws first and see if you can get enough 'wiggle' out of the top cover to loosen that stripped one up a bit, then maybe try the rubberband approach (DIY). Just be careful not to bend the rear cover as there is a little bit of a lip on that inside edge of the Unibody, holding the rear cover in place. Good luck!

I just bought a set of these. Work fine.

u/bendvis · 2 pointsr/buildapc

The vast majority of computers use screws with the same diameter and thread pitch. If your motherboard came with extra screws, they're the fatter longer ones.

If not, you could get a set of thumb screws that would almost certainly fit.

u/Jakomako · 2 pointsr/buildapc

These would be the type you'd want to use for securing PCIe cards: http://www.amazon.com/Computer-Case-Thumbscrews-10pack-Thread/dp/B005GKXAH4

You can use something like this:

50 Pcs 7 x 8 x 3.2mm White Hollowed Spacer Support https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C97H4P6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_okvkIwAAyJBHm

Or you can use actual motherboard standoff's. I'm currently using these attached to wood. Drill a tiny pilot hole and screw them in. :

u/TassiloBalbo · 1 pointr/techsupport

yea i guess. Standoffs are typically golden, they look like this. They screw into the case, then you put your motherboard on them and use screws that go through the motherboard and into the standoffs. They are important, but they probably were pre-installed becouse otherwise I don't think you'd be able to even screw in the motherboard. But still better check it.

u/mcatjpm · 1 pointr/ASRock

I was in the same boat... I was surprised my Intel M2 didn't come with a screw... so I ordered this from Amazon yesterday....

Amazon have some 3rd party sellers that sells assortments of laptop screws for about 10 bucks. It's probably more than you need but it's not that expensive. If you have Prime, this will probably the quickest option.

u/RandomOnlineSteve · 1 pointr/razer

Any M2-3.5L screws will work, they don't have to be Torx5 screws. I have a set of random laptop screws from Amazon and they are the exact same size as the screws from the Blade 15 just Philips instead of Torx.

EDIT: https://www.amazon.com/Mudra-Crafts-Assortment-Notebook-Computer/dp/B0754Y18MN/

This has 20 2x3.5 screws but with Philips heads instead of Torx. It might drive me crazy having to use different bits to remove the bottom but it's better than having a missing screw.

u/Dark_24 · 1 pointr/buildapc

What case do you have exactly? many times you can either buy the whole Accessories kit - OR if it is a new Case you can call them up and they will send a kit out to you for free..

or you can get yourself something like this: https://www.amazon.com/132pcs-Personal-Computer-Standoffs-Motherboard/dp/B072LNLFXV

it will have pretty much all the types of screws you might need in a nice little box.

u/thatgermanperson · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I don't suppose you mean the slot covers. Otherwise I don't know what you mean. I've had a case once with some lever-like thing that held all PCIe parts so that you didn't have to use screws at all.

u/scotty3281 · 1 pointr/computing

this is something that I would look at. I believe this is a US link but search on UK Amazon and you will probably find something similar. It contains 300 screws for everything you need.

u/The_Hope_89 · 1 pointr/buildapc

[Link] (https://www.amazon.com/Computer-Case-Metal-Slot-Covers/dp/B000BSJHRI) Something like this should work, but it depends on how your case was designed. It might not work correctly if they have a different bracket design from yours, or if they don't have the slot to hold them to the case on the back.

HWINFO, and MSI afterburner are two decent programs for monitoring CPU / GPU usage.

u/VenditatioDelendaEst · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

No. Look at how much precious impeller diameter has been sacrificed for RGB bullshit.

Better to combine this with this.

u/dustinr26 · 1 pointr/ASUS

I had same issue and ended up buying on Amazon laptop m.2 screw set and I think it was size M.2 *6 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GE9AK7I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/kepiinskii · 1 pointr/pcmods

You could try with something like these and maybe this lock kit thingy

u/Ottovon1 · 1 pointr/Dell

When i got my 9570 i immediately replaced those shitty soft metal Torx screws with these philips

CO RODE 350 Pieces Laptop Screws, Notebook Computer Screw Kit Set for IBM HP Dell Lenovo Samsung Sony Toshiba Gateway https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GE9AK7I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_DV2nDb7611439

Definitely worth it for the 8 bucks. And i think the black screws makes it look better.

u/averyfinename · 1 pointr/buildapc

6-32 1/4in or 5/16in is the 'technical' description. they're just 'hard drive screws'. they look like this. any mom 'n pop pc store/repair shop should be able to give or sell you a dozen for a buck or two, if you don't know anyone that would have any (while you're at it and if they're nice enough to give them to you, get 4 'optical drive' screws too, never know when you might need the smaller ones)

u/trkryu · 1 pointr/buildapc

In the manual it says 6-32 x 5mm, I can’t go to a hardware store tbh but any links on amazon to one?

Eyeballing it, looks like a #6-32 knurled thumbscrew, 3/8” or so. You could also measure the length of the end to underside the head if it is important. Any screw will work, but if you want a knurled thumbscrew one:
