I can imagine finding travel samples of makeup and supergluing this type of button to the top of the cap or these things to the side of the cap, then threading a paper clip through the hole. You could then attach the paper clip directly to your key ring.
Or you could superglue a thick hair elastic to the cap and put a key ring through it. Even a strip of fabric tied in a ring and glued to the cap would work.
There are tons of tiny jars and things to make your makeup portable, so making them key-ring friendly shouldn't be too difficult. However, I would test cap strength first-- My key ring is tossed in my pocket, thrown on the desk, pulled out of a tangle of other pocket stuff, and generally moves around a lot, whatever I attach to it goes through the same rough treatment.

Recently got a pair of braces to go with my waistcoats. Eye opening.

For anything other than waistcoats, however, I'm sticking to belts. Just more accustomed to them. That may change in the future as I do enjoy the braces but haven't committed to getting buttons installed yet. I didn't go so far as clip ons but I got pretty close: https://www.amazon.com/Suspender-Store-No-Sew-EZ-Buttons-movable/dp/B01E7ORXYU/
They were pretty easy to sew on and I even took them off a couple times because I put them in the wrong spot. Really easy to open and close too, here's where I got them from if you're interested: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012BUMP3Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_wN-RBb2M3XYGD
Going to confirm that it’s a magnetic snap for a purse/bag. I sewed a purse once so I needed to go out and buy the snap separate. The little flanges on the sides go behind one layer of fabric to hold it in place.
Just buy some of these in the size you need, paint them and thread the strings through them.

Those these are extremely expensive. Here I get a pack of 20-30 for around $0.15.
A Japanese company called Takashima makes real pearl buttons in a variety of sizes. Price isn't too bad depending on the size you get. A set of 20 (with 9mm and 10mm sizing) is $11. Here is the link if you are interested: Takashima Black Mother of Pearl Buttons

Np - you could also buy any mustard colored shirt and sew (or have someone/tailor sew) black buttons onto it. If you get an inexpensive shirt you’ll still be within price range.

These button makers are really awesome for making completely unique buttons for you and your friends. If you're into sticking buttons on your bags or whatnot, you can quite literally make buttons of any image and personalize it for your Christmas gifts.
You sound like me. Wide neck, short arms, and I have a barrel chest. Best I've found that's the closest is Express Men. But even those, you have to hem the sleeves. But, for all shirts, they fit the closest.
Oh, and their shirts don't cost an arm and a leg.
Also, look into collar extenders: Comfy Clothiers 10-pack Collar Extenders (Metal Button Extender) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018H6WKI8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_QQbgyb6D8TT43
Do you mean like these? They look like a great option, thanks!
Love this it's so stinking cute but the closures are not proportional to the rest of the garment. Have you thought of using a toggle closure like this but using red intstead of the black for the triangles? Or outlining the claps you have in red so they look a bit bigger. I love the modern look of the color blocking I would love to see a closure that was more in line with the style.
Buttons?
Something like these maybe - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Plastic-Multicolor-Buttons-Different-Shapes/dp/B00C5Y5ILA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1458177147&sr=8-3&keywords=large+plastic+buttons

Machine is here.. They are a tad small and it might have been nice to have a bigger one, but the 1 inch buttons are better for collecting anyway.
