Lego panels don't have continuous contact area, so you'll need something that will ooze into the holes and grip.

Or, why not go with a LEGO-interoperable panel made for gluing?

They are not new. It is a neat idea, but they are small and expensive.

Aquadoodle pads, Etch-a-sketch, Magnadoodle, Car bingo. You can make car bingo using magnets glued to dollar store checkers markers. In fact, you can later make the checker board attach to a cookie sheet too for when they're older.

You can also fill a pencil box, bag or even zip lock, with Lego and give them a cheap cookie sheet from the dollar store to play on. This works even better if you get either the Lego tape (they sell it at WalMart too but not sure of the name) or hot glue a Lego Baseplate to the cookie sheet.

I also have a portable DVD player and my kid would play on his Nintendo DS, but now his phone or Kindle.

Also make sure to do 'seat exercises.' It helps with the pent up energy. Ask them to put their hands in the air then wiggle them around. Just modify the Hokey Pokey song for car use. Head, shoulders, knees and toes works in the car.

I would basically pack a backpack that had healthy snacks and some drinks, toys, gaming device, games...they also got to help me add a couple things too it of their choosing. Put that in the back seat with their blankie and pillow.

I'd also add a ziplock bag within easy reach for car sickness and/or garbage.

legos. my daughter loves them. "dada gos dada GO's!!!!" she is two now and is even better with them, but she loved the gift back then. It is expensive, but if you buy a base along with other sets, it is totally worth it in the long run haha

I got 2 orders of these plates on amazon a couple of weeks ago on a lightning deal. They seem to be decent but we’ll see how they hold up.

Grab this and the [LEGO Classic Green Plate 10x10] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NHQF65S) and your total will only be $54.96 for both. Not a bad deal.

If I hope, let me hope that Bill Gates is in the exchange and that he's already shipped the UCS Falcon to me.

But, the pragmatist in me knows that it's probably Will Gattis sending me this falcon

  1. When you wish upon a star

  2. The Lion King is my favorite Disney movie I was a little kid when it first came out and I got hooked. I've even been to the play multiple times, once in London and once just recently in Seattle. In loving the Lion King, lions have also become my favorite animals.

  3. My favorite Disney song has to be I Just Can't Wait to be King. I've always thought of the song as a way to look forward of realizing and meeting my goals.

  4. My link is for a little lego set, gosh i love legos :)

Baseplates is correct, yes. Bricklink has a very useful parts catalogue. There's quite a lot of these, sorted into three categories:

plain, http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=2

raised, kinda useless for general building I think, http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=243

road patterns, http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=130

Both the parts and shipping can get expensive for what they are. Me, I just tacked one onto an order from Amazon... 32x32 Lego studs, which is 10x10 inches, six bucks.

The light set for the Firehouse is $86. The street light changes from Red to Green to Yellow and back again. It also includes light blocks for the Ghosts that attach to the out side of the building.

Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters Lighting Kit for set 75827 by Brick Loot https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M6Z4X5E?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

The light set for the Ecto 1 is $36 and most of the siren lights on the top of the car flash and the one on the very top changes color.

Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Lighting Kit for Lego 21108 (Car Not Included) Light Up by Brick Loot https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KPP5XAM?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Really cool light sets and super easy to install even if the LEGO sets are already assembled. (In fact the instructions assume you’ve already built the set.)

u/NoodleMaps · 2 pointsr/ghostbusters

The one for the Ecto-1 was an eBay purchase from China, so I'm unsure. The Firehouse kit I used was from BrickLoot ordered via Amazon. BrickLoot Kit

You have a two real thin flat 10x10 pieces stuck together. Without any special lego specific tools, how do you remove those two pieces?

u/MCubb · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

/u/LaLocaChristina just gifted me a big set of basic Legos the other day, and I'm planning on using them to build a small box which I will make into a mould box. This allows me to pour liquid silicone rubber into the box over a sculpture I make and then make copies like these! But to finish off my mould box, I need a Lego Baseplate on which to build the box of course! So I'd love one of those bad boys!

Thanks for the contest!

It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine.

D&D Basics (Getting started)

The Absolute Basics

First you will want to grab either the Basic rules (Free), the Starter Set (Cheap), or the Players handbook, Dungeon Masters Guide, and Probably Monster Manual

Then you need to have at least a few items

  • Dice (Phone apps will work if absolutely necessary, or these)
  • Paper & Pencil (for notes)
  • Character Sheet (In the free PDF or an app)

The starter set is nice because it does a bunch of the work for you, it has an easy to follow adventure, pre-made characters, Dice, and rules for the DM and players. And at half the cost of just the players handbook AND including an adventure, it is an incredible value.

Once you finish that then looking at at least a players handbook for the extra races, classes, backgrounds, and other things is a good deal. That should let you run free adventures people have put online.

The DM's guide will let you get deeper into rules and the right way to call them, break them, and make them.

The monster manual can be a great tool to make better encounters.

If you want to run a commercial adventure after the one's included in the starter set, "Tales from the Yawning Portal" includes the Sunless Citidel, considered by many to be an excellent adventure for those new to the game and just recently brought up from 3.5e into 5e

    Common Tools of the Trade

As you start running more complex adventures you are going to want to have a few tools to keep things moving, either as a player or as a DM.

    As a Player

The bare essentials every players should have are listed above, but most players agree having a few extras can make the game run really quick.

    Spell Cards

These cards have all the spells available for specific classes or from specific books on really well organized cards that make it easy to set aside your prepared spells and quickly reference all the core details.

Cleric, Arcane, Ranger, Druid, Bard, Paladin, Martial Powers and Races, Xanathars Guide to Everything

    Binders & Sheet Protectors

Keeping everything neat and organized can be a huge time saver and make it much easier for you to find what you need. Binders can be a great way to keep your notes and other materials organized. In addition many sheet protectors easily erase dry erase markers making it easy to keep track of spells and other changes without ruining character sheets with constant erasing.

    As a DM

DMs have their work cut out for them. But a few simple tools can make the game run smooth and leave everyone having that much more fun.

    Index Cards

A set of index cards can go a long way to speeding up the game. Players can put details on spells or magic items on them. You can prepare loot for the game ahead of time and hand it out allowing players to look over the gear as the game continues. You can also use them to hide portions of a battle map or commerical map to give the effect of fog of war.

    Game Mats

A game mat let's you make single maps by drawing on them with dry erase or wet erase markers. Many are made of vinyl and can last a long time. Normally they will have either 1" squares or hex shapes.

    Minitures

These things can be expensive, but giving your game that 3D upgrade and helping players better manage space in a game can be well worth it. You can use actual miniatures (Like those from Reaper), Create custom ones on Hero's Forge, or even just buy some cheap stand in tokens from Game Mash.

If you just need a cheap way to keep track of positions army men, bottle caps, colored game pieces, and even legos can all play the role.

No matter what you use, you can pick up colored rubber bands to mark status conditions or other information.

    Where Can I Play?

You can find tons of places to play D&D.

  • Get together a gaming group.
  • Find a Guild or club in your area. Meetup.com,
  • Most hobby shops and especially comic book and gaming shops offer games, usually Adventure League. WotC offers a tool to find stores here.
  • /r/lfg can be a great way to find others to play online with.
  • Play by Mail sites like RPoL allow you to play by forum post.

    Also:

Critical Role - Voice actors playing DnD, Matt Mercer (The DM) is an amazing Dungeon Master and shows how the game should be played.

Matthew Colville - Amazing videos on being a DM, must watch material for every DM. Even when your opinions differ he gives good reasons and great advice.

    Compendiums

These let you ciew all the free open rules (SRD & Basic Rules) for D&D 5e at no cost.

Roll20 Compendium - Has all the open rules for the game, so a good source for monsters, items, spells, etc.

DnDBeyond - A more official source for the content, plus you can buy all the materials released by WotC to use, and has a great character builder.

    Adventures & Maps

DMsGuild - Tons of free and paid adventures and other materials. The quality can be varying, but many are free and that can be great.

/r/dndmaps/ - What more can they say, D&D Maps.

Mike Schley Makes many of the maps for the D&D Adventures.

A lego birthday party would be awesome. I'll think of some ideas for the lego party but I know that everyone needs these lego 'floor' plates. You always need a strong foundation for your lego creations and as we all know the floor sucks. There are other colors and sized to choose from.

u/konsyr · 1 pointr/DnDIY

FYI, they're ~.3", so they're bigger than the standard .25" graph paper, but close enough to work.

You could also get a bunch of them and indeed use giant Lego baseplates to replace your graph paper.

EDIT: https://www.amazon.com/DreambuilderToy-Classic-Building-Plates-Baseplate/dp/B01CKUOOP4/ [3rd party but compatible, plenty of other options; just first in the search results]

I have a fed ex playskool one probably from the 70's. It has a thread on the floor to move cargo to the back after loading. No idea of what they go for.

Cardboard blocks!

These kind: http://www.amazon.com/Smart-Monkey-Toys-1016-building/dp/B001J8FEB2/ref=sr_1_3?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1341616621&sr=1-3&keywords=cardboard+blocks

I bought like 4 boxes of these for my nieces... they LOVE to build up tall towers with them, preferably with someone standing inside :D

u/lonestar_tx · 1 pointr/lego

Thanks!

The name of the set is LEGO Toy Story Army Men on Patrol (7595)

I wanted my set to be Marines, I am designing and later building a MOC of a Naval Destroyer --- so I need Marines not Army.

The Marine Corps does not have a Medical MOS, that role is filled by Hospital Corpsman which is the official naval designation.

SOURCE: I served in the Navy.

u/atxrobotlover · 1 pointr/lepin

Yes I got it from This Store

I bought a new base plate from -=Here=- which is a 48X48 base, I figured I would just buy one large one as it didn't need to be split to open the Firehouse like the Haunted House did. If I had problems I could just cut it to what I needed or use the space for more Minifigs, trees, whatever.

Hope this helps!

u/dechlangiovonni · 1 pointr/lepin

You'll need one of these: https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Power-Functions-Battery-88000/dp/B004RF301U/

I had an old Lepin one sitting around but I'm pretty sure they're about the same price - prob better to go with Lego.

Also when you’re positioning, keep in mind where you want the led to point before placing all the parts on top. Lower and upper torso then lights is good too, just be careful.

Have you considered gluing Lego plates (sheets?) to the top of the table? Like these: base plate

u/heff17 · -16 pointsr/harrypotter

Okay, then how many different tiny $20-$30 sets would a kid need to actually play with them for more than 10 minutes? Five? Ten?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005RJI67I/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1518804316&sr=8-8&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=harry+potter+legos&dpPl=1&dpID=51XjRnP6khL&ref=plSrch

That's $20. Good luck finding anybody in the world who'll play with that for more than 15 seconds. You'll also find simple character models, one single piece, selling for $7-$10. It's absurdity. And with these sets, you get so many specific pieces that playing with them as, yknow, Lego's is unfeasible thanks to so many pieces only making sense in the proper set.

Again, I love Lego's. I grew up with Lego's. Hell, outside AVPM I think the two Lego HP games are the best HP media out there. But my god are they not worth the stupid prices they charge.
