The game has a few limitations that I don't like - specifically no night racing, no rain, no dirt/gravel, and no open-wheeled cars. I expect Horizon will correct at least a few of these limitations.

My only other gripe isn't so much with Forza as with Microsoft. Forza is the premier, exclusive racing sim on their system. You would think that when designing a racing wheel to go with it, it would be fully functional. Nope. I got one of these, and while it's a great wheel in many respects, the lack of LB and RB make painting impossible and several game menus difficult-to-impossible to access. You would hope that the MS team designing the wheel would work a bit more closely with the team distributing one of the biggest games for the system to ensure compatibility.

You could use these and add a magnetic adhesive. I use them for my setup for games I prefer controller for. Like FF15.

I bought these ones on Amazon and they worked well for both my 360 and OG Xbox, though I can’t guarantee that of course.

ok. Time for me to get these.

You know what my highest score postings were done using?

One of these.

No joke.

I'll link the product.

But it's being hold by 3M tape so be careful when sticking it to the wall, you can peel off the wall if you're adjusting it.

u/ForlornPenguin · 2 pointsr/originalxbox

I bought this, which claims to be for Xbox 360, but they worked fine for my Thompson, Samsung and Hitachi DVD drives. I didn't replace the belt in my Phillips, since it doesn't have the sticking issue for now, but I'm sure it'd work with that one too.

So yeah, the ones in your link should work.

u/lashek · 2 pointsr/consolerepair

I believe the xbox and xbox 360 used the same rubber belts. I've replaced my xbox belt with the same one used in the 360 and have had no problems so far.

This is what I had used:

I would also check to make sure the gears are properly greased, as that could be causing this too.

For nr 1 I am pretty sure Microsoft had a free floating steering wheel on Xbox 360.. Looked like two høns with triggers at the back, that you had to hold mid air and turn left or right.

It was pretty terrible!

I love them so much I ordered another set recently!

u/JonStarkaryen998 · 1 pointr/battlestations

Thanks man. It's this one but I think there are probably some cheaper options too

u/NottaGrammerNasi · 1 pointr/consolerepair

These are the ones I bought. They say 360 but they work great on the OG Xbox as well.

They could always do something like this. It would probably be a good idea. Some pople may need the range for demos/events and others for a office set up. Just a thought.

If you just want something cheap the Xbox 360 Wireless Speed wheel is a good choice. It's not as nice as the other wheels mentioned in this thread. But I like it much better than using a controller. It gives me more fine control than the thumb stick. The triggers are a bit bigger, which makes it easier to control throttle/breaking. There's no lag. The only issue with it is it's missing the LR bumpers.

Plus it's fun to use.

I was playing F1 2010 and 2012 with a Wireless Speed Wheel ... way better than a controller, but a bit awkward without the feedback. The wheel is miles ahead....since I'm a windows xp hold out till my next computer build (hopefully early next year) I'm limited by the games I can play, but live for speed and F1 2011 are pretty awesome. I didn't think I'd have fun playing euro truck simulator (who would?), but it's pretty awesome...I find myself taking racing lines on the freeways trying not to flip the truck.

If MS releases xbox one version of this wheel, I'm buying immediately. Fantastic device.

u/Casual-T · 1 pointr/Games

Well, I wouldn't recommend a shooter for consoles. First person shooters are meant for PC... in my opinion, of course. BF3 for PC is tons and tons of fun.

Seeing as your mac can't handle too much, I suppose I'll make some console recommendations.

Do you like racing games? Forza 4 is great, especially with this racing wheel.

MX vs. ATV Alive is awesome if you are into motocross.

Socom 4 for PS3 is pretty fun online as well. Great third-person shooter, but may take a little getting used to. I just like it because I played the original Socom on PS2 and it does a good job sticking to the same sort of style of gameplay.

You got a pre-release MS Speed wheel?

u/zombipuppy · 1 pointr/forza

Wow, so I did a search for a Microsoft wheel, and I had no idea they unveiled a new wireless on at E3 this year: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Speed-Wheel/dp/B0050SY0L2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317838166&sr=8-1

Depending on your level of computer know-how (and fear of tinkering with electronics), this can be fixed. I went online and found some kits that fixed mine for at least 6 months before it crapped out and finally died. The RROD is caused by

  1. Overheating of the Xbox due to bad heat sink and ventilation of the GPU. (the very first model just had an aluminum heat sink and the 2nd model had a heat sink with an attached heat pipe).
  2. Poor ball soldering material used on the chip to the motherboard. Because of the poor cooling, the PCB would melt and deform and when it cooled, separated the chip from the PCB as tiny gaps formed.

The only true permanent way of fixing this is to reflow the chip to the board which required special materials and some skill.

A temporary/semi-permanent way of fixing it is to use a metal clamp backing to clamp the board and chip together with pressure. I bought this on Amazon:

    http://www.amazon.com/360-Uniclamp-Replacement-Complete-Compound-Powdercoated/dp/B004D1LKC4/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1383153176&sr=8-11&keywords=xbox+rrod+clamp

It comes with instructions. It requires a bit of drilling but overall it's not terribly hard, I'd say an hour - two hours or so depending on y our familiarity with hardware. The first xbox unfortunately was very poorly made and had terrible cooling compared to the PS3 (I've taken apart both). If you're handy you can do this too!

If you have any experience messing with computer hardware I would open it up and change out the thermal paste. This tool makes opening the Xbox super easy. https://www.amazon.com/Silverhill-Tools-ATK3602-2Piece-Unlock/dp/B002O8CJZK/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?keywords=xbox+360+tool&qid=1550752322&s=gateway&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1

If you try it, good luck!

u/kre8rix · 1 pointr/gaming

This worked for me just fine. It voids any warranty you may have left, but it's an easy fix, and it works just fine.

u/Ross932 · -2 pointsr/assettocorsa

$30 too expensive?

This is working pretty well for me for the time being.
